Extraction of $α_s$ using Borel-Laplace sum rules for tau decay data

Double-pinched Borel-Laplace sum rules are applied to ALEPH $τ$-decay data. For the leading-twist ($D=0$) Adler function a renormalon-motivated extension is used, and the 5-loop coefficient is taken to be $d_4=275 \pm 63$. Two $D=6$ terms appear in the truncated OPE ($D \leq 6$) to enable cancellation of the corresponding renormalon ambiguities. Two variants of the fixed order perturbation theory, and the inverse Borel transform, are applied to the evaluation of the $D=0$ contribution. Truncation index $N_t$ is fixed by the requirement of local insensitivity of the momenta $a^{(2,0)}$ and $a^{(2,1)}$ under variation of $N_t$. The averaged value of the coupling obtained is $α_s(m_τ^2)=0.3235^{+0.0138}_{-0.0126}$ [$α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1191 \pm 0.0016$]. The theoretical uncertainties are significantly larger than the experimental ones.

CP violation in the rare Higgs decays via exchange of on-shell almost degenerate Majorana neutrinos, $H \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{-} U {\bar D}$ and $H \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{+} {\bar U} D$

We investigate rare decays of Higgs via exchange of two almost degenerate heavy on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$ ($j=1,2$): $Γ_{\pm} = Γ(h \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{\pm} π^{\mp})$, and into the open quark channels $Γ_{\pm} = Γ(h \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{\pm} U D)$, where $U D$ are two jets of open quarks (${\bar U} D$, or $U {\bar D}$, where $U=u, c$ and $D=d, s$). The related CP violation asymmetry $A_{\rm CP} = (Γ_{-} - Γ_{+})/(Γ_{-} + Γ_{+})$ is studied in detail. We take into account the $N_1$-$N_2$ overlap and oscillation effects. We can see that for certain, presently acceptable, range of input parameters, such decays with open quark channels, and their asymmetries, could be detected in the International Linear Collider (ILC).

Adler function and Bjorken polarized sum rule: Perturbation expansions in powers of $SU(N_c)$ conformal anomaly and studies of the conformal symmetry limit

We consider a new form of analytical perturbation theory expansion in the massless $SU(N_c)$ theory, for the non-singlet part of the $e^+e^-$-annihilation to hadrons Adler function $D^{ns}$ and of the Bjorken sum rule of the polarized lepton-hadron deep-inelastic scattering $C_{ns}^{Bjp}$, and demonstrate its validity at the $O(α_s^4)$-level at least. It is a two-fold series in terms of powers of the conformal anomaly and of $SU(N_c)$ coupling $α_s$. Explicit expressions are obtained for the $\{β\}$-expanded perturbation coefficients at $O(α_s^4)$ level in $\bar{\rm MS}$ scheme, for both considered physical quqantities. Comparisons of the terms in the $\{β\}$-expanded coefficients are made with the corresponding terms obtained by using extra gluino degrees of freedom, or skeleton-motivated expansion, or $R_δ$-scheme motivated expansion in the Principle of Maximal Conformality. Relations between terms of the $\{β\}$-expansion for the $D^{ns}$- and $C_{ns}^{Bjp}$-functions, which follow from the conformal symmetry limit and its violation, are presnted. The relevance to the possible new analysis of the experimental data for the Adler function and Bjorken sum rule is discussed.

CP violations in $π^{\pm}$ Meson Decay

We study the pion decays with intermediate on-shell neutrinos $N$ into two electrons and a muon, $π^{\pm} \to e^{\pm} N \to e^{\pm} e^{\pm} μ^{\mp} ν$. We investigate the branching ratios ${\rm Br}_{\pm} = [Γ(π^- \to e^- e^- μ^+ ν) \pm Γ(π^+ \to e^+e^+μ^-ν)]/Γ(π^- \to {\rm all})$ and the CP asymmetry ratio ${\cal A}_{\rm CP} = {\rm Br}_{-}/{\rm Br}_{+}$ for such decays, in the scenario with two different on-shell neutrinos. If $N$ is Dirac, only the lepton number conserving (LC) decays contribute (LC: $ν= ν_e$ or ${\bar ν}_e$); if $N$ is Majorana, both LC and lepton number violating (LV) decays contribute (LV: $ν={\bar ν}_μ$ or $ν=ν_μ$). The results show that the CP asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm CP}$ is in general very small, but increases and becomes $\sim 1$ when the masses of the two intermediate neutrinos get closer to each other, i.e., when their mass difference becomes comparable with their decay width, $ΔM_N \not\gg Γ_N$. The observation of CP violation in pion decays would be consistent with the existence of the well-motivated $ν$MSM model with two almost degenerate heavy neutrinos.

Gluon Propagator in Fractional Analytic Perturbation Theory

We consider the gluon propagator in the Landau gauge at low spacelike momenta and with the dressing function $Z(Q^2)$ at the two-loop order. We incorporate the nonperturbative effects by making the (noninteger) powers of the QCD coupling in the dressing function $Z(Q^2)$ analytic (holomorphic) via the Fractional Analytic Perturbation Theory (FAPT) model, and simultaneously introducing the gluon dynamical mass in the propagator as motivated by the previous analyses of the Dyson-Schwinger equations. The obtained propagator has behavior compatible with the unquenched lattice data ($N_f=2+1$) at low spacelike momenta $0.4 \ {\rm GeV} < Q \lesssim 10$ GeV. We conclude that the removal of the unphysical Landau singularities of the powers of the coupling via the (F)APT prescription, in conjunction with the introduction of the dynamical mass $M \approx 0.62$ GeV of the gluon, leads to an acceptable behavior of the propagator in the infrared regime.

Techniques of evaluation of QCD low-energy physical quantities with running coupling with infrared fixed point

Perturbative QCD (pQCD) running coupling a(Q^2) (=alpha_s(Q^2)/pi) is expected to get modified at low spacelike momenta 0 < Q^2 < 1 GeV^2 so that, instead of having unphysical (Landau) singularities it remains smooth and finite there, due to infared (IR) fixed point. This behavior is suggested by: Gribov-Zwanziger approach, Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSE) and other functional methods, lattice calculations, light-front holographic mapping AdS/CFT modified by a dilaton background, and by most of the analytic (holomorphic) QCD models. All such couplings, A(Q^2), differ from the pQCD couplings a(Q^2) at |Q| > 1 GeV by nonperturbative (NP) terms, typically by some power-suppressed terms ~1/(Q^2)^N. Evaluations of low-energy physical QCD quantities in terms of such A(Q^2) couplings (with IR fixed point) at a level beyond one-loop are usually performed with (truncated) power series in A(Q^2). We argue that such an evaluation is not correct, because the NP terms in general get out of control as the number of terms in the power series increases. The series consequently become increasingly unstable under the variation of the renormalization scale, and have a fast asymptotic divergent behavior compounded by the renormalon problem. We argue that an alternative series in terms of logarithmic derivatives of A(Q^2) should be used. Further, a Padé-related resummation based on this series gives results which are renormalization scale independent and show very good convergence. Timelike low-energy observables can be evaluated analogously, using the integral transformation which relates the timelike observable with the corresponding spacelike observable.

Calculation of binding energies and masses of quarkonia in analytic QCD models

We extract MSbar quark masses mqbar (q=b,c) from the evaluation of the masses of quarkonia Upsilon(1S) and J/ψ(1S), performed in two analytic QCD models, and in perturbative QCD in two renormalization schemes. In analytic QCD the running coupling has no unphysical singularities in the low-momentum regime. We apply the analytic model of Shirkov et al.[Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT)], extended by Bakulev et al.[Fractional Analytic Perturbation Theory (FAPT)], and the two-delta analytic model (2delanQCD). The latter, in contrast to (F)APT, at higher energies basically coincides with the perturbative QCD (in the same scheme). We use the renormalon-free mass mqbar as input. The separation of the soft and ultrasoft parts of the binding energy E is performed by the requirement of the cancellation of the leading infrared renormalon. The analysis in the 2delanQCD model indicates that the low-momentum ultrasoft regime is important for the extraction of the masses mqbar, especially mbbar. The 2delanQCD model gives us clues on how to estimate the influence of the ultrasoft sector on mqbar in general. These effects lead to relatively large values mbbar(mbbar) =approx (4.35 +- 0.08) GeV in the 2delanQCD model, which, however, are compatible with recent lattice calculations. In perturbative QCD in MSbar scheme these effects are even stronger and give larger uncertainties in mbbar. The (F)APT model gives small ultrasoft effects and the extracted values of mbbar agree with those in most of the literature: mbbar(mbbar) =approx 4.2 GeV. The extracted values of mcbar(mcbar) in all four models are about 1.26-1.27 GeV and agree well with those in the literature.

Evaluations of low-energy physical quantities in QCD with IR freezing of the coupling

MSbar-like schemes in QCD have in general the running coupling which contains Landau singularities, i.e., singularities outside the timelike semi-axis, at low squared momenta. As a consequence, evaluation of the spacelike quantities, such as current correlators, in terms of (powers of) such a coupling then results in quantities which contradict the basic principles of Quantum Field Theories. On the other hand, in those QCD frameworks where the running coupling remains finite at low squared momenta (IR freezing), the coupling usually does not have Landau singularities in the complex plane of the squared momenta. I argue that in such QCD frameworks the spacelike quantities should not be evaluated as a power series, but rather as a series in derivatives of the coupling with respect to the logarithm of the squared momenta. Such series show considerably better convergence properties. Moreover, Pade-related resummations of such logarithmic derivative series give convergent series, thus eliminating the practical problem of series divergence due to renormalons.

Analogs of noninteger powers in general analytic QCD

In contrast to the coupling parameter in the usual perturbative QCD (pQCD), the coupling parameter in the analytic QCD models has cuts only on the negative semiaxis of the Q^2-plane (where q^2 = -Q^2 is the momentum squared), thus reflecting correctly the analytic structure of the spacelike observables. The Minimal Analytic model (MA, named also APT) of Shirkov and Solovtsov removes the nonphysical cut (at positive Q^2) of the usual pQCD coupling and keeps the pQCD cut discontinuity of the coupling at negative Q^2 unchanged. In order to evaluate in MA the physical QCD quantities whose perturbation expansion involves noninteger powers of the pQCD coupling, a specific method of construction of MA analogs of noninteger pQCD powers was developed by Bakulev, Mikhailov and Stefanis (BMS). We present a construction, applicable now in any analytic QCD model, of analytic analogs of noninteger pQCD powers; this method generalizes the BMS approach obtained in the framework of MA. We need to know only the discontinuity function of the analytic coupling (the analog of the pQCD coupling) along its cut in order to obtain the analytic analogs of the noninteger powers of the pQCD coupling, as well as their timelike (Minkowskian) counterparts. As an illustration, we apply the method to the evaluation of the width for the Higgs decay into b+(bar b) pair.

Extended analytic QCD model with perturbative QCD behavior at high momenta

In contrast to perturbative QCD, the analytic QCD models have running coupling whose analytic properties correctly mirror those of spacelike observables. The discontinuity (spectral) function of such running coupling is expected to agree with the perturbative case at large timelike momenta; however, at low timelike momenta it is not known. In the latter regime, we parametrize the unknown behavior of the spectral function as a sum of (two) delta functions; while the onset of the perturbative behavior of the spectral function is set to be 1.0-1.5 GeV. This is in close analogy with the "minimal hadronic ansatz" used in the literature for modeling spectral functions of correlators. For the running coupling itself, we impose the condition that it basically merges with the perturbative coupling at high spacelike momenta. In addition, we require that the well-measured nonstrange semihadronic (V+A) tau decay ratio value be reproduced by the model. We thus obtain a QCD framework which is basically indistinguishable from perturbative QCD at high momenta (Q > 1 GeV), and at low momenta it respects the basic analyticity properties of spacelike observables as dictated by the general principles of the local quantum field theories.

Operator Product Expansion with analytic QCD in tau decay physics

We apply a recently constructed model of analytic QCD in the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) analysis of the tau lepton decay data in the V+A channel. The model has the running coupling A(Q^2) with no unphysical singularities, i.e., it is analytic. It differs from the corresponding perturbative QCD coupling a(Q^2) at high squared momenta |Q^2| by terms ~ 1/(Q^2)^5, hence it does not contradict the ITEP OPE philosophy and can be consistently applied with OPE up to terms of dimension D=8. In evaluations for the Adler function we use a Pade-related renormalization-scale-independent resummation, applicable in any analytic QCD model. Applying the Borel sum rules in the Q^2 plane along rays of the complex Borel scale and comparing with ALEPH data of 1998, we obtain the gluon condensate value <(alpha_s/pi)G^2> = 0.0055 +- 0.0047 GeV^4. Consideration of the D=6 term gives us the result <O6(V+A)> = (-0.5 +- 1.1) 10^{-3} GeV^6, not incompatible with nonnegative values. The real Borel transform gives us then, for the central values of the two condensates, a good agreement with the experimental results in the entire considered interval of the Borel scales M^2. In perturbative QCD in MSbar scheme we deduce similar result for the gluon condensate, 0.0059 +- 0.0049 GeV^4, but the value of D=6 condensate is negative, <O6(V+A)> = (-1.8 +- 0.9) 10^{-3} GeV^6, and the resulting real Borel transform for the central values is close to the lower bound of the experimental band.

Applying generalized Padé approximants in analytic QCD models

A method of resummation of truncated perturbation series, related to diagonal Padé approximants but giving results independent of the renormalization scale, was developed more than ten years ago by us with a view of applying it in perturbative QCD. We now apply this method in analytic QCD models, i.e., models where the running coupling has no unphysical singularities, and we show that the method has attractive features such as a rapid convergence. The method can be regarded as a generalization of the scale-setting methods of Stevenson, Grunberg, and Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie. The method involves the fixing of various scales and weight coefficients via an auxiliary construction of diagonal Padé approximant. In low-energy QCD observables, some of these scales become sometimes low at high order, which prevents the method from being effective in perturbative QCD where the coupling has unphysical singularities at low spacelike momenta. There are no such problems in analytic QCD.

Explicit solutions for effective four- and five-loop QCD running coupling

We start with the explicit solution, in terms of the Lambert W function, of the renormalization group equation (RGE) for the gauge coupling in the supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory described by the well-known beta function of Novikov et al.(NSVZ). We then construct a class of beta functions for which the RGE can be solved in terms of the Lambert W function. These beta functions are expressed in terms of a function which is a truncated Laurent series in the inverse of the gauge coupling. The parameters in the Laurent series can be adjusted so that the first coefficients of the Taylor expansion of the beta function in the gauge coupling reproduce the four-loop or five-loop QCD (or SQCD) beta function.
