On the best Ulam constant of a higher order linear difference equation

In a Banach space XX the linear difference equation with constant coefficients xn+p=a1xn+p−1+…+apxn,x_{n+p} = a_1x_{n+p-1} +\ldots + a_px_n, is Ulam stable if and only if the roots rk,r_k, 1≤k≤p,1\leq k\leq p, of its characteristic equation do not belong to the unit circle. If ∣rk∣>1,|r_k| > 1, 1≤k≤p,1\leq k\leq p, we prove that the best Ulam constant of this equation is 1∣V∣∑s=1∞∣V1r1s−V2r2s+…+(−1)p+1Vprps∣, \frac{1}{|V|}\sum\limits_{s=1}^{\infty}|\frac{V_1}{r_1^s}-\frac{V_2}{r_2^s}+\ldots +\frac{(-1)^{p+1}V_p}{r_p^s}|, where V=V(r1,r2,…,rp) V = V (r_1, r_2, \ldots, r_p) and Vk=V(r1,…,rk−1,rk+1,…,rp),V_k =V (r_1,\ldots, r_{k-1}, r_{k+1},\ldots, r_p), 1≤k≤p,1\leq k\leq p, are Vadermonde determinants.

On the stability of the first order linear recurrence in topological vector spaces

Suppose that X\mathcal{X} is a sequentially complete Hausdorff locally convex space over a scalar field K\mathbb{K}, VV is a bounded subset of X\mathcal{X}, (an)n≥0(a_n)_{n\ge 0} is a sequence in K∖{0}\mathbb{K}\setminus\{0\} with the property\ $\ds\liminf_{n\to\infty} |a_n|>1$ and (bn)n≥0(b_n)_{n\ge 0} is a sequence in X\mathcal{X}. We show that for every sequence (xn)n≥0(x_n)_{n\ge 0} in X\mathcal{X} satisfying \begin{eqnarray*} x_{n+1}-a_nx_n-b_n\in V\q(n\geq 0) \end{eqnarray*} there exists a unique sequence (yn)n≥0(y_n)_{n\ge 0} satisfying the recurrence yn+1=anyn+bn  (n≥0)y_{n+1}=a_ny_n+b_n\,\,(n\geq 0) and for every qq with $1<q<\ds\liminf_{n\to\infty} |a_n|$, there exists n0∈Nn_0\in \mathbb{N} such that \begin{eqnarray*} x_n-y_n\in \ds\f{1}{q-1}\ov{conv(V^b)}\q (n\geq n_0). \end{eqnarray*}
