Backward Euler method for stochastic differential equations with non-Lipschitz coefficients

We study the traditional backward Euler method for $m$-dimensional stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H > 1/2$ whose drift coefficient satisfies the one-sided Lipschitz condition. The backward Euler scheme is proved to be of order $1$ and this rate is optimal by showing the asymptotic error distribution result. Two numerical experiments are performed to validate our claims about the optimality of the rate of convergence.

BSDEs generated by fractional space-time noise and related SPDEs

This paper is concerned with the backward stochastic differential equations whose generator is a weighted fractional Brownian field: $Y_t=ξ+\int_t^T Y_s W (ds,B_s) -\int_t^T Z_sdB_s$, $0\le t\le T$, where $W$ is a $(d+1)$-parameter weighted fractional Brownian field of Hurst parameter $H=(H_0, H_1, \cdots, H_d)$, which provide probabilistic interpretations (Feynman-Kac formulas) for certain linear stochastic partial differential equations with colored space-time noise. Conditions on the Hurst parameter $H$ and on the decay rate of the weight are given to ensure the existence and uniqueness of the solution pair. Moreover, the explicit expression for both components $Y$ and $Z$ of the solution pair are given.

Solvability of parabolic Anderson equation with fractional Gaussian noise

This paper provides necessary as well as sufficient conditions on the Hurst parameters so that the continuous time parabolic Anderson model $\frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=\frac{1}{2}\frac{\partial^2 u}{\partial x^2}+u\dot{W}$ on $[0, \infty)\times {\bf R}^d $ with $d\geq 1$ has a unique random field solution, where $W(t, x)$ is a fractional Brownian sheet on $[0, \infty)\times {\bf R}^d$ and formally $\dot W =\frac{\partial^{d+1}}{\partial t \partial x_1 \cdots \partial x_d} W(t, x)$. When the noise $W(t, x)$ is white in time, our condition is both necessary and sufficient when the initial data $u(0, x)$ is bounded between two positive constants. When the noise is fractional in time with Hurst parameter $H_0>1/2$, our sufficient condition, which improves the known results in literature, is different from the necessary one.

Stochastic Heat Equation with general noise

In this paper, we study a nonlinear one spatial dimensional stochastic heat equations driven by Gaussian noise: $\frac{\partial u }{\partial t}=\frac{\partial^2 u }{\partial x^2}+σ(u )\dot{W} $, where $\dot{W} $ is white in time and has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H\in(\frac 14,\frac 12)$. We remove a critical and unnatural condition $σ(0)=0$ previously imposed in a recent paper by Hu, Huang, Lê, Nualart and Tindel. The idea is to work on a weighted space $\mathcal{Z}_{λ,T}^p$ for some power decay weight $λ(x)=c_H(1+|x|^2)^{H-1}$. We obtain the weak existence of solution. With additional decay conditions on $σ$ we obtain the existence of strong solution and the pathwise uniqueness of the strong solution. The reason to introduce the weight function is that the solution $u(t,x)$ may explode as $|x|\rightarrow \infty$ when the "diffusion coefficient" $σ(u)$ does not satisfy $σ(0)=0$ regardless of the initial condition. This motivates us to study the exact asympotics of the solution $u_{\rm add}(t,x)$ as $t$ and $x$ go to infinity when $σ(u)=1$ and when the initial condition $u_0(x)\equiv 0$. In particular, we find the exact growth of $\sup_{|x|\leq L}{|u_{\rm add}(t,x)|}$. Furthermore, we find the sharp growth rate for the Hölder coefficients, namely, $\sup_{|x|\leq L} \frac{| u_{\rm add}(t,x+h)-u_{\rm add}(t,x)|}{|h|^β}$ and $\sup_{|x|\leq L} \frac{| u_{\rm add}(t+τ,x)-u_{\rm add}(t,x)|}{τ^α}$. These results are interesting and fundamental themselves.

Estimation Of all parameters in the Fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck model under discrete observations

Let the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process $(X_t)_{t\ge0}$ driven by a fractional Brownian motion $B^{H }$, described by $dX_t = -θX_t dt + σdB_t^{H }$ be observed at discrete time instants $t_k=kh$, $k=0, 1, 2, \cdots, 2n+2 $. We propose ergodic type statistical estimators $\hat θ_n $, $\hat H_n $ and $\hat σ_n $ to estimate all the parameters $θ$, $H $ and $σ$ in the above Ornstein-Uhlenbeck model simultaneously. We prove the strong consistence and the rate of convergence of the estimators. The step size $h$ can be arbitrarily fixed and will not be forced to go zero, which is usually a reality. The tools to use are the generalized moment approach (via ergodic theorem) and the Malliavin calculus.

Estimation of all parameters in the reflected Orntein-Uhlenbeck process from discrete observations

Assuming that a reflected Ornstein-Uhlenbeck state process is observed at discrete time instants, we propose generalized moment estimators to estimate all drift and diffusion parameters via the celebrated ergodic theorem. With the sampling time step h > 0 arbitrarily fixed, we prove the strong consistency and asymptotic normality of our estimators as the sampling size n tends to infinity. This provides a complete solution to an open problem left in Hu et al. [5].

Local time of infinite time horizon Brownian bridge

We introduce an infinite time horizon Brownian bridge which is determined by a stochastic Langevin equation with time dependent drift coefficient. We show that this process goes to zero almost surely when the time goes to infinity and study the existence and asymptotic behavior of its local time as well as its Hölder continuity in time variable and in location variable. The main difficulty is the lack of stationarity of the process so that the powerful tools for stationary (Gaussian) processes are not applicable. We employ the Garsia-Rodemich-Rumsey inequality to get around this type of difficulty.

Numerical methods for stochastic Volterra integral equations with weakly singular kernels

In this paper, we first establish the existence, uniqueness and Hölder continuity of the solution to stochastic Volterra integral equations with weakly singular kernels. Then, we propose a $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme and a Milstein scheme to solve the equations numerically and we obtain the strong rates of convergence for both schemes in $L^{p}$ norm for any $p\geq 1$. For the $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,\frac{1}{2}-β\}~ % (0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$ and for the Milstein scheme the rate is $\min\{1-α,1-2β\}$ when $α\neq \frac 12$, where $(0<α<1, 0< β<\frac{1}{2})$. These results on the rates of convergence are significantly different from that of the similar schemes for the stochastic Volterra integral equations with regular kernels. The difficulty to obtain our results is the lack of Itô formula for the equations. To get around of this difficulty we use instead the Taylor formula and then carry a sophisticated analysis on the equation the solution satisfies.

Itô type stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions of Hurst parameter $H>1/2$

This paper studies the existence and uniqueness of solution of Itô type stochastic differential equation $dx(t)=b(t, x(t), \om)dt+\si(t,x(t), \om) d B(t)$, where $B(t)$ is a fractional Brownian motion of Hurst parameter $H>1/2$ and $dB(t)$ is the Itô differential defined by using Wick product or divergence operator. The coefficients $b$ and $\si$ are random and can be anticipative. Using the relationship between the Itô type and pathwise integrals we first write the equation as a stochastic differential equation involving pathwise integral plus a Malliavin derivative term. To handle this Malliavin derivative term the equation is then further reduced to a system of (two) equations without Malliavin derivative. The reduced system of equations are solved by a careful analysis of Picard iteration, with a new technique to replace the Grönwall lemma which is no longer applicable. The solution of this system of equations is then applied to solve the original Itô type stochastic differential equation up to a positive random time. In the special linear and quasilinear cases the global solutions are proved to exist uniquely.

Parabolic Anderson model with rough dependence in space

This paper studies the one-dimensional parabolic Anderson model driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H \in (\frac{1}{4}, \frac{1}{2})$ in the space variable. We derive the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution and a Feynman-Kac formula for the moments of the solution. These results allow us to establish sharp lower and upper asymptotic bounds for the $n$th moment of the solution.

Rate of convergence and asymptotic error distribution of Euler approximation schemes for fractional diffusions

For a stochastic differential equation(SDE) driven by a fractional Brownian motion(fBm) with Hurst parameter $H>\frac{1}{2}$, it is known that the existing (naive) Euler scheme has the rate of convergence $n^{1-2H}$. Since the limit $H\rightarrow\frac{1}{2}$ of the SDE corresponds to a Stratonovich SDE driven by standard Brownian motion, and the naive Euler scheme is the extension of the classical Euler scheme for Itô SDEs for $H=\frac{1}{2}$, the convergence rate of the naive Euler scheme deteriorates for $H\rightarrow\frac{1}{2}$. In this paper we introduce a new (modified Euler) approximation scheme which is closer to the classical Euler scheme for Stratonovich SDEs for $H=\frac{1}{2}$, and it has the rate of convergence $γ_n^{-1}$, where $γ_n=n^{2H-{1}/2}$ when $H<\frac{3}{4}$, $γ_n=n/\sqrt{\log n}$ when $H=\frac{3}{4}$ and $γ_n=n$ if $H>\frac{3}{4}$. Furthermore, we study the asymptotic behavior of the fluctuations of the error. More precisely, if $\{X_t,0\le t\le T\}$ is the solution of a SDE driven by a fBm and if $\{X_t^n,0\le t\le T\}$ is its approximation obtained by the new modified Euler scheme, then we prove that $γ_n(X^n-X)$ converges stably to the solution of a linear SDE driven by a matrix-valued Brownian motion, when $H\in(\frac{1}{2},\frac{3}{4}]$. In the case $H>\frac{3}{4}$, we show the $L^p$ convergence of $n(X^n_t-X_t)$, and the limiting process is identified as the solution of a linear SDE driven by a matrix-valued Rosenblatt process. The rate of weak convergence is also deduced for this scheme. We also apply our approach to the naive Euler scheme.

Regularity and strict positivity of densities for the nonlinear stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and regularity of the density of the solution to a semilinear stochastic (fractional) heat equation with measure-valued initial conditions. Under a mild cone condition for the diffusion coefficient, we establish the smooth joint density at multiple points. The tool we use is Malliavin calculus. The main ingredient is to prove that the solutions to a related stochastic partial differential equation have negative moments of all orders. Because we cannot prove $u(t,x)\in \mathbb{D}^\infty$ for measure-valued initial data, we need a localized version of Malliavin calculus. Furthermore, we prove that the (joint) density is strictly positive in the interior of the support of the law, where we allow both measure-valued initial data and unbounded diffusion coefficient. The criteria introduced by Bally and Pardoux [1] are no longer applicable for the parabolic Anderson model. We have extended their criteria to a localized version. Our general framework includes the parabolic Anderson model as a special case.

Space-time fractional diffusions in Gaussian noisy environment

This paper studies the linear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional orders both in time and space variables $\left(\partial^β+ \fracν{2} (-Δ)^{α/2} \right) u(t,x)= λu(t,x) \dot{W}(t,x)$, where $\dot W$ is a general Gaussian noise and $β\in (1/2, 2)$, $α\in (0, 2]$. The existence and uniqueness of the solution, the moment bounds of the solution are obtained by using the fundamental solutions of the corresponding deterministic counterpart represented by the Fox H-functions. Along the way, we obtain some new properties of the fundamental solutions.

Spatial asymptotics for the parabolic Anderson model driven by a Gaussian rough noise

The aim of this paper is to establish the almost sure asymptotic behavior as the space variable becomes large, for the solution to the one spatial dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and which has the covariance structure of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 1/4 and less than 1/2 in the space variable.

Temporal asymptotics for fractional parabolic Anderson model

In this paper, we consider fractional parabolic equation of the form $ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=-(-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}u+u\dot W(t,x)$, where $-(-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}$ with $α\in(0,2]$ is a fractional Laplacian and $\dot W$ is a Gaussian noise colored in space and time. The precise moment Lyapunov exponents for the Stratonovich solution and the Skorohod solution are obtained by using a variational inequality and a Feynman-Kac type large deviation result for space-time Hamiltonians driven by $α$-stable process. As a byproduct, we obtain the critical values for $θ$ and $η$ such that $\mathbb{E}\exp\left(θ\left(\int_0^1 \int_0^1 |r-s|^{-β_0}γ(X_r-X_s)drds\right)^η\right)$ is finite, where $X$ is $d$-dimensional symmetric $α$-stable process and $γ(x)$ is $|x|^{-β}$ or $\prod_{j=1}^d|x_j|^{-β_j}$.

Density convergence in the Breuer-Major theorem for Gaussian stationary sequences

Consider a Gaussian stationary sequence with unit variance $X=\{X_k;k\in {\mathbb{N}}\cup\{0\}\}$. Assume that the central limit theorem holds for a weighted sum of the form $V_n=n^{-1/2}\sum^{n-1}_{k=0}f(X_k)$, where $f$ designates a finite sum of Hermite polynomials. Then we prove that the uniform convergence of the density of $V_n$ towards the standard Gaussian density also holds true, under a mild additional assumption involving the causal representation of $X$.

Nonlinear stochastic time-fractional slow and fast diffusion equations on $\mathbb{R}^d$

This paper studies the nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation of fractional orders both in space and time variables: \[ \left(\partial^β+\fracν{2}(-Δ)^{α/2}\right)u(t,x) = I_t^γ\left[ρ(u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x)\right],\quad t>0,\: x\in\mathbb{R}^d, \] where $\dot{W}$ is the space-time white noise, $α\in(0,2]$, $β\in(0,2)$, $γ\ge 0$ and $ν>0$. Fundamental solutions and their properties, in particular the nonnegativity, are derived. The existence and uniqueness of solution together with the moment bounds of the solution are obtained under Dalang's condition: $d<2α+\fracαβ\min(2γ-1,0)$. In some cases, the initial data can be measures. When $β\in (0,1]$, we prove the sample path regularity of the solution.

On the intermittency front of stochastic heat equation driven by colored noises

We study the propagation of high peaks (intermittency front) of the solution to a stochastic heat equation driven by multiplicative centered Gaussian noise in $\mathbb{R}^d$. The noise is assumed to have a general homogeneous covariance in both time and space, and the solution is interpreted in the senses of the Wick product. We give some estimates for the upper and lower bounds of the propagation speed, based on a moment formula of the solution. When the space covariance is given by a Riesz kernel, we give more precise bounds for the propagation speed.

Stochastic Differential Equation for Brox Diffusion

This paper studies the weak and strong solutions to the stochastic differential equation $ dX(t)=-\frac12 \dot W(X(t))dt+d\mathcal{B}(t)$, where $(\mathcal{B}(t), t\ge 0)$ is a standard Brownian motion and $W(x)$ is a two sided Brownian motion, independent of $\mathcal{B}$. It is shown that the Itô-McKean representation associated with any Brownian motion (independent of $W$) is a weak solution to the above equation. It is also shown that there exists a unique strong solution to the equation. Itô calculus for the solution is developed. For dealing with the singularity of drift term $\int_0^T \dot W(X(t))dt$, the main idea is to use the concept of local time together with the polygonal approximation $W_π$. Some new results on the local time of Brownian motion needed in our proof are established.

Stochastic heat equation with rough dependence in space

This paper studies the nonlinear one-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and which has the covariance of a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter 1/4\textless{}H\textless{}1/2 in the space variable. The existence and uniqueness of the solution u are proved assuming the nonlinear coefficient is differentiable with a Lipschitz derivative and vanishes at 0. In the case of a multiplicative noise, that is the linear equation, we derive the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution and a Feynman-Kac formula for the moments of the solution. These results allow us to establish sharp lower and upper asymptotic bounds for the moments of the solution.

Taylor schemes for rough differential equations and fractional diffusions

In this paper, we study two variations of the time discrete Taylor schemes for rough differential equations and for stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions. One is the incomplete Taylor scheme which excludes some terms of an Taylor scheme in its recursive computation so as to reduce the computation time. The other one is to add some deterministic terms to an incomplete Taylor scheme to improve the mean rate of convergence. Almost sure rate of convergence and $L_p$-rate of convergence are obtained for the incomplete Taylor schemes. Almost sure rate is expressed in terms of the Hölder exponents of the driving signals and the $L_p$-rate is expressed by the Hurst parameters. Both rates involves with the incomplete Taylor scheme in a very explicit way and then provide us with the best incomplete schemes, depending on that one needs the almost sure convergence or one needs $L_p$-convergence. As in the smooth case, general Taylor schemes are always complicated to deal with. The incomplete Taylor scheme is even more sophisticated to analyze. A new feature of our approach is the explicit expression of the error functions which will be easier to study. Estimates for multiple integrals and formulas for the iterated vector fields are obtained to analyze the error functions and then to obtain the rates of convergence.

Two-point correlation function and Feynman-Kac formula for the stochastic heat equation

In this paper, we obtain an explicit formula for the two-point correlation function for the solutions to the stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$. The bounds for $p$-th moments proved in [3] are simplified. We validate the Feynman-Kac formula for the $p$-point correlation function of the solutions to this equation with measure-valued initial data.

Feynman-Kac formula for fractional heat equation driven by fractional white noise

In this paper we obtain a Feynman-Kac formula for the solution of a fractional stochastic heat equation driven by fractional noise. One of the main difficulties is to show the exponential integrability of some singular nonlinear functionals of symmetric stable Lévy motion. This difficulty will be overcome by a technique developed in the framework of large deviation. This Feynman-Kac formula is applied to obtain the Hölder continuity and moment formula of the solution.

On optimal mean-field type control problems of stochastic systems with jump processes under partial information

This paper considers the problem of partially observed optimal control for forward stochastic systems which are driven by Brownian motions and an independent Poisson random measure with a feature that the cost functional is of mean-field type. When all the system coefficients and the objective performance functionals are allowed to be random, possibly non-Markovian, Malliavin calculus is employed to derive a maximum principle for the optimal control of such a system where the adjointprocess is explicitly expressed. We also investigate the mean-field type optimal control problems for systems driven by mean-field type stochastic differential equations (SDEs in short) with jump processes, in which the coefficients contain not only the state process but also its marginal distribution under partially observed information. The maximum principle is established using convex variational technique with an illustrating example about linear-quadratic optimal control.

Singular mean-field control games with applications to optimal harvesting and investment problems

This paper studies singular mean field control problems and singular mean field stochastic differential games. Both sufficient and necessary conditions for the optimal controls and for the Nash equilibrium are obtained. Under some assumptions the optimality conditions for singular mean-field control are reduced to a reflected Skorohod problem, whose solution is proved to exist uniquely. Applications are given to optimal harvesting of stochastic mean-field systems, optimal irreversible investments under uncertainty and to mean-field singular investment games. In particular, a simple singular mean-field investment game is studied where the Nash equilibrium exists but is not unique.

Smoothness of the joint density for spatially homogeneous SPDEs

In this paper we consider a general class of second order stochastic partial differential equations on $\mathbb{R}^d$ driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and it has a homogeneous spatial covariance. Using the techniques of Malliavin calculus we derive the smoothness of the density of the solution at a fixed number of points $(t,x_1), \dots, (t,x_n)$, $t>0$, assuming some suitable regularity and non degeneracy assumptions. We also prove that the density is strictly positive in the interior of the support of the law.

Stochastic heat equations with general multiplicative Gaussian noises: Hölder continuity and intermittency

This paper studies the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative noises of the form uW, where W is a mean zero Gaussian noise and the differential element uW is interpreted both in the sense of Skorohod and Stratonovich. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are studied for noises with general time and spatial covariance structure. Feynman-Kac formulas for the solutions and for the moments of the solutions are obtained under general and different conditions. These formulas are applied to obtain the Hölder continuity of the solutions. They are also applied to obtain the intermittency bounds for the moments of the solutions.

Convergence of densities of some functionals of Gaussian processes

The aim of this paper is to establish the uniform convergence of the densities of a sequence of random variables, which are functionals of an underlying Gaussian process, to a normal density. Precise estimates for the uniform distance are derived by using the techniques of Malliavin calculus, combined with Stein's method for normal approximation. We need to assume some non-degeneracy conditions. First, the study is focused on random variables in a fixed Wiener chaos, and later, the results are extended to the uniform convergence of the derivatives of the densities and to the case of random vectors in some fixed chaos, which are uniformly non-degenerate in the sense of Malliavin calculus. Explicit upper bounds for the uniform norm are obtained for random variables in the second Wiener chaos, and an application to the convergence of densities of the least square estimator for the drift parameter in Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes is discussed.

On Hölder continuity of the solution of stochastic wave equations

In this paper, we study the stochastic wave equations in the spatial dimension 3 driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time and correlated in space. Our main concern is the sample path Hölder continuity of the solution both in time variable and in space variables. The conditions are given either in terms of the mean Hölder continuity of the covariance function or in terms of its spectral measure. Some examples of the covariance functions are proved to satisfy our conditions, which include the case of the work \cite{dalang4}. In particular, we obtain the Hölder continuity results for the solution of the stochastic wave equations driven by (space inhomogeneous) fractional Brownian noises. For this particular noise, the optimality of the obtained Hölder exponents is also discussed.

A nonlinear stochastic heat equation: Hölder continuity and smoothness of the density of the solution

In this paper, we establish a version of the Feynman-Kac formula for multidimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a general semimartingale. This Feynman-Kac formula is then applied to study some nonlinear stochastic heat equations driven by nonhomogenous Gaussian noise: First, it is obtained an explicit expression for the Malliavin derivatives of the solutions. Based on the representation we obtain the smooth property of the density of the law of the solution. On the other hand, we also obtain the Hölder continuity of the solutions.

Feynman--Kac formula for the heat equation driven by fractional noise with Hurst parameter $H<1/2$

In this paper, a Feynman-Kac formula is established for stochastic partial differential equation driven by Gaussian noise which is, with respect to time, a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H<1/2$. To establish such a formula, we introduce and study a nonlinear stochastic integral from the given Gaussian noise. To show the Feynman--Kac integral exists, one still needs to show the exponential integrability of nonlinear stochastic integral. Then, the approach of approximation with techniques from Malliavin calculus is used to show that the Feynman-Kac integral is the weak solution to the stochastic partial differential equation.

Malliavin calculus for backward stochastic differential equations and application to numerical solutions

In this paper we study backward stochastic differential equations with general terminal value and general random generator. In particular, we do not require the terminal value be given by a forward diffusion equation. The randomness of the generator does not need to be from a forward equation, either. Motivated from applications to numerical simulations, first we obtain the $L^p$-Hölder continuity of the solution. Then we construct several numerical approximation schemes for backward stochastic differential equations and obtain the rate of convergence of the schemes based on the obtained $L^p$-Hölder continuity results. The main tool is the Malliavin calculus.

Maximum Principle for General Controlled Systems Driven by Fractional Brownian Motions

We obtain a maximum principle for stochastic control problem of general controlled stochastic differential systems driven by fractional Brownian motions (of Hurst parameter $H>1/2$). This maximum principle specifies a system of equations that the optimal control must satisfy (necessary condition for the optimal control). This system of equations consists of a backward stochastic differential equation driven by both fractional Brownian motion and the corresponding underlying standard Brownian motion. In addition to this backward equation, the maximum principle also involves the Malliavin derivatives. Our approach is to use conditioning and Malliavin calculus. To arrive at our maximum principle we need to develop some new results of stochastic analysis of the controlled systems driven by fractional Brownian motions via fractional calculus. Our approach of conditioning and Malliavin calculus is also applied to classical system driven by standard Brownian motion while the controller has only partial information. As a straightforward consequence, the classical maximum principle is also deduced in this more natural and simpler way.

Hölder Continuity of the Solution for a Class of Nonlinear SPDE Arising from One Dimensional Superprocesses

The Hölder continuity of the solution to a nonlinear stochastic partial differential equation arising from one dimensional super process is obtained. It is proved that the Hölder exponent in time variable is as close as to 1/4, improving the result of 1/10 in a recent paper by Li et al [3]. The method is to use the Malliavin calculus. The Hölder continuity in spatial variable x of exponent 1/2 is also obtained by using this new approach. This Hölder continuity result is sharp since the corresponding linear heat equation has the same Hölder continuity.

Feynman-Kac formula for heat equation driven by fractional white noise

We establish a version of the Feynman-Kac formula for the multidimensional stochastic heat equation with a multiplicative fractional Brownian sheet. We use the techniques of Malliavin calculus to prove that the process defined by the Feynman-Kac formula is a weak solution of the stochastic heat equation. From the Feynman-Kac formula, we establish the smoothness of the density of the solution and the Hölder regularity in the space and time variables. We also derive a Feynman-Kac formula for the stochastic heat equation in the Skorokhod sense and we obtain the Wiener chaos expansion of the solution.
