The Schwarz lemma for holomorphic and minimal disks at the boundary

We first prove a Boundary Schwarz lemma for holomorphic disks on the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$. Further by using a Schwarz lemma for minimal conformal disks of Forstneri\v c and Kalaj (F.~Forstneri{č} and D.~Kalaj. \newblock Schwarz-pick lemma for harmonic maps which are conformal at a point. \newblock {\em Anal. PDE}, 17(3):981--1003, 2024.) we prove the boundary Schwarz lemma for such minimal disks.

Contraction property of differential operator on Fock space

In the recent paper, \cite{tilli} Nicola and Tilli proved the Faber-Krahn inequality, which for $p=2$, states the following. If $f\in\mathcal{F}_α^2$ is an entire function from the corresponding Fock space, then $$\frac{1}π\int_Ω |f(z)|^2 e^{-π|z|^2} dx dy \le (1-e^{-|Ω|}) \|f\|^2_{2,π}.$$ Here $Ω$ is a domain in the complex plane and $|Ω|$ is its Lebesgue measure. This inequality is sharp and equality can be attained. We prove the following sharp inequality $$\int_Ω \frac{|f^{(n)}(z)|^2e^{-π|z|^2}}{π^n n ! L_n(-π|z|^2)}dxdy \le (1-e^{-(n+1)|Ω|})\|f\|^2_{2,π},$$ where $L_n$ is Laguerre polynomial, and $n\in\{0,1,2,3,4\} $. For $n=0$ it coincides with the result of Nicola and Tilli.

Gaussian curvature of minimal graphs in $M\times \mathbb{R}$

In this paper, we consider minimal graphs in the three-dimensional Riemannian manifold $M\times\mathbb{R}$. We mainly estimate the Gaussian curvature of such surfaces. We consider the minimal disks and minimal graphs bounded by two Jordan curves in parallel planes. The key to the proofs is the Weierstrass representation of those surfaces via $\wp-$harmonic mappings. We also prove some Schwarz lemma type results and some Heinz type results for harmonic mappings between geodesic disks in Riemannian surfaces.

Minimal surfaces and Schwarz lemma

We prove a sharp Schwarz type inequality for the Weierstrass- Enneper representation of the minimal surfaces. It states the following. If $F:\mathbf{D}\to Σ$ is a conformal harmonic parameterization of a minimal disk $Σ$, where $\mathbf{D}$ is the unit disk and $|Σ|=πR^2$, then $|F_x(z)|(1-|z|^2)\le R$. If for some $z$ the previous inequality is equality, then the surface is an affine disk, and $F$ is linear up to a Möbius transformation of the unit disk.

$L^p$-theory for Cauchy-transform on the unit disk

Let $\mathbb{D}$ be the unit disk and $φ\in L^p(\mathbb{D}, \mathrm{d}A)$, where $1\leq p\leq\infty$. For $z\in\mathbb{D}$, the Cauchy-transform on $\mathbb{D}$, denote by $\mathcal{P}$, is defined as follows: $$\mathcal{P}[φ](z)=-\int_{\mathbb{D}}\left(\frac{φ(w)}{w-z}+\frac{z\overline{φ(w)}}{1-\bar{w}z}\right)\mathrm{d}A(w).$$ The Beurling transform on $\mathbb{D}$, denote by $\mathcal{H}$, is now defined as the $z$-derivative of $\mathcal{P}$. In this paper, by using Hardy's type inequalities and Bessel functions, we show that $\|\mathcal{P}\|_{L^2\to L^2}=α\approx1.086$, where $α$ is a solution to the equation: $2J_0(2/α)-αJ_1(2/α)=0$, and $J_0$, $J_1$ are Bessel functions. Moreover, for $p>2$, by using Taylor expansion, Parseval's formula and hypergeometric functions, we also prove that $\|\mathcal{P}\|_{L^p\to L^{\infty}}=2(Γ(2-q)/Γ^2(2-\frac{q}{2}))^{1/q}$, where $q=p/(p-1)$ is the conjugate exponent of $p$, and $Γ$ is the Gamma function. Finally, applying the same techniques developed in this paper, we show that the Beurling transform $\mathcal{H}$ acts as an isometry of $L^2(\mathbb{D}, \mathrm{d}A)$.

Minimisers and Kellogg's theorem

We extend the celebrated theorem of Kellogg for conformal mappings to the minimizers of Dirichlet energy. Namely we prove that a diffeomorphic minimiser of Dirichlet energy of Sobolev mappings between double connected domains $D$ and $Ω$ having $\mathscr{C}^{n,α}$ boundary is $\mathscr{C}^{n,α}$ up to the boundary, provided $\text{Mod}(D)\ge \text{Mod}(Ω)$. If $\text{Mod}(D)< \text{Mod}(Ω)$ and $n=1$ we obtain that the diffeomorphic minimiser has $\mathscr{C}^{1,α'}$ extension up to the boundary, for $α'=α/(2+α)$. It is crucial that, every diffeomorphic minimizer of Dirichlet energy has a very special Hopf differential and this fact is used to prove that every diffeomorphic minimizer of Dirichlet energy can be locally lifted to a certain minimal surface near an arbitrary point inside and at the boundary.

Norm estimates of the Cauchy transform and related operators

Suppose $f\in L^p(\mathbb{D})$, where $p\geq1$ and $\mathbb{D}$ is the unit disk. Let $\mathfrak{J}_0$ be the integral operator defined as follows: $\mathfrak{J}_0[f](z)=\int_{\mathbb{D}}\frac{z}{1-\bar{w}z}f(w)\mathrm{d}A(w)$, where $z$, $w\in\mathbb{D}$ and $\mathrm{d}A(w)=\frac{1}π\mathrm{d}x\mathrm{d}y$ is the normalized area measure on $\mathbb{D}$. Suppose $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$ is the adjoint operator of $\mathfrak{J}_0$. Then $\mathfrak{J}^*_0=\mathfrak{B}\mathfrak{C}$, where $\mathfrak{B}$ and $\mathfrak{C}$ are the operators induced by the Bergman projection and Cauchy transform, respectively. In this paper, we obtain the $L^1$, $L^2$ and $L^{\infty}$ norm of the operator $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$. Moreover, we obtain the $L^p(\mathbb{D})\rightarrow L^\infty(\mathbb{D})$ norm of the operators $\mathfrak{C}$ and $\mathfrak{J}_0^*$, provided that $p>2$. This study is a continuation of the investigations carried out in [4] and [11].

On asymptotically sharp bi-Lipschitz inequalities of quasiconformal mappings satisfying inhomogeneous polyharmonic equations

Suppose that $f$ is a $K$-quasiconformal ($(K,K')$-quasiconformal resp.) self-mapping of the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$, which satisfies the following: $(1)$ the inhomogeneous polyharmonic equation $Δ^{n}f=Δ(Δ^{n-1} f)=φ_{n}$ $(φ_{n}\in \mathcal{C}(\overline{\mathbb{D}}))$, (2) the boundary conditions $Δ^{n-1}f|_{\mathbb{T}}=φ_{n-1},~\ldots,~Δ^{1}f|_{\mathbb{T}}=φ_{1}$ ($φ_{j}\in\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{T})$ for $j\in\{1,\ldots,n-1\}$ and $\mathbb{T}$ denotes the unit circle), and $(3)$ $f(0)=0$, where $n\geq2$ is an integer and $K\geq1$ ($K'\geq0$ resp.). The main aim of this paper is to prove that $f$ is Lipschitz continuous, and, further, it is bi-Lipschitz continuous when $\|φ_{j}\|_{\infty}$ are small enough for $j\in\{1,\ldots,n\}$. Moreover, the estimates are asymptotically sharp as $K\to 1$ ($K'\to0$ resp.) and $\|φ_{j}\|_{\infty}\to 0$ for $j\in\{1,\ldots,n\}$, and thus, such a mapping $f$ behaves almost like a rotation for sufficiently small $K$ ($K'$ resp.) and $\|φ_{j}\|_{\infty}$ for $j\in\{1,\ldots,n\}$.

Optimal estimates for hyperbolic harmonic mappings in Hardy space

Assume that $p\in(1,\infty]$ and $u=P_{h}[ϕ]$, where $ϕ\in L^{p}(\mathbb{S}^{n-1},\mathbb{R}^{n})$. Then for any $x\in \mathbb{B}^{n}$, we obtain the sharp inequalities $$ |u(x)|\leq \frac{\mathbf{C}_{q}^{\frac{1}{q}}(x)}{(1-|x|^2)^{\frac{n-1 }{p}}} \|ϕ\|_{L^{p}} \quad\text{and}\quad |u(x)|\leq \frac{\mathbf{C}_{q}^{\frac{1}{q}} }{(1-|x|^2)^{\frac{n-1 }{p}}} \|ϕ\|_{L^{p} } $$ for some function $\mathbf{C}_{q}(x)$ and constant $\mathbf{C}_{q}$ in terms of Gauss hypergeometric and Gamma functions, where $q$ is the conjugate of $p$. This result generalize and extend some known result from harmonic mapping theory ([5, Theorems 1.1 and 1.2] and [1, Proposition 6.16]).

Schwarz lemma for hyperbolic harmonic mappings in the unit ball

Assume that $p\in[1,\infty]$ and $u=P_{h}[ϕ]$, where $ϕ\in L^{p}(\mathbb{S}^{n-1},\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $u(0) = 0$. Then we obtain the sharp inequality $|u(x)|\le G_p(|x|)\|ϕ\|_{L^{p}}$ for some smooth function $G_p$ vanishing at $0$. Moreover, we obtain an explicit form of the sharp constant $C_p$ in the inequality $\|Du(0)\|\le C_p\|ϕ\|_{L^{p}}$. These two results generalize and extend some known result from harmonic mapping theory (\cite[Theorem 2.1]{kalaj2018}) and hyperbolic harmonic theory (\cite[Theorem 1]{bur}).

A proof of Khavinson's conjecture in $\mathbf{R}^4$

The paper deals with an extremal problem for bounded harmonic functions in the unit ball of $\mathbf{R}^4$. We solve the generalized Khavinson problem in $\mathbf{R}^4$. This precise problem was formulated by G. Kresin and V. Maz'ya for harmonic functions in the unit ball and in the half--space of $\mathbf{R}^n$. We find the optimal pointwise estimates for the norm of the gradient of bounded real--valued harmonic functions.

Heinz inequality for the unit ball

We first prove the following generalization of Schwarz lemma for harmonic mappings. Let $u$ be a harmonic mapping of the unit ball onto itself. Then we prove the inequality $\|u(x)-(1-\|x\|^2)/(1+\|x\|^2)^{n/2} u(0)\|\le U(|x| N)$. By using the Schwarz lemma for harmonic mappings we derive Heinz inequality on the boundary of the unit ball by providing a sharp constant $C_n$ in the inequality: $\|\partial_r u(rη)\|_{r=1}\ge C_n$, $\|η\|=1$, for every harmonic mapping of the unit ball into itself satisfying the condition $u(0)=0$, $\|u(η)\|=1$.

Invertible harmonic mappings of unit disk onto Dini smooth Jordan domains

In this paper we extend Rado-Choquet-Kneser theorem for the mappings with weak homeomorphic Lipschitz boundary data and Dini's smooth boundary but without restriction on the convexity of image domain, provided that the Jacobian satisfies a certain boundary condition. The proof is based on a recent extension of Rado-Choquet-Kneser theorem by Alessandrini and Nesi \cite{ale} and it is used the approximation principle.

On Quasi-inversions

Given a bounded domain $D \subset {\mathbb R}^n$ strictly starlike with respect to $0 \in D\,,$ we define a quasi-inversion w.r.t. the boundary $\partial D \,.$ We show that the quasi-inversion is bi-Lipschitz w.r.t. the chordal metric if and only if every "tangent line" of $\partial D$ is far away from the origin. Moreover, the bi-Lipschitz constant tends to $1,$ when $\partial D$ approaches the unit sphere in a suitable way. For the formulation of our results we use the concept of the $α$-tangent condition due to F. W. Gehring and J. Väisälä (Acta Math. 1965). This condition is shown to be equivalent to the bi-Lipschitz and quasiconformal extension property of what we call the polar parametrization of $\partial D$. In addition, we show that the polar parametrization, which is a mapping of the unit sphere onto $\partial D\,,$ is bi-Lipschitz if and only if $D$ satisfies the $α$-tangent condition.

Schwarz lemma for harmonic mappings in the unit ball

We prove the following generalization of Schwarz lemma for harmonic mappings. If $u$ is a harmonic mapping of the unit ball $B_n$ onto itself such that $u(0)=0$ and $\|u\|_p:=\left(\int_S|u(η)|^pdσ(η)\right)^{1/p}<\infty$, $p\ge 1$ then $|u(x)|\le g_p(|x|)\|u\|_p$ for some smooth sharp function $g_p$ vanishing in $0$. Moreover we provide sharp constant $C_p$ in the inequality $\|Du(0)\|\le C_p\|u\|_p$. Those two results extend some known result from harmonic mapping theory (\cite[Chapter~VI]{ABR}).

Muckenhoupt weights and Lindelöf theorem for harmonic mappings

We extend the result of Lavrentiev which asserts that the harmonic measure and the arc-length measure are $A_\infty$ equivalent in a chord-arc Jordan domain. By using this result we extend the classical result of Lindelöf to the class of quasiconformal (q.c.) harmonic mappings by proving the following assertion. Assume that $f$ is a quasiconformal harmonic mapping of the unit disk $\mathbf{U}$ onto a Jordan domain. Then the function $A(z)=\arg(\partial_φ(f(z))/z)$ where $z=re^{iφ}$, is well-defined and smooth in $\mathbf{U}^*=\{z: 0<|z|<1\}$ and has a continuous extension to the boundary of the unit disk if and only if the image domain has $C^1$ boundary.

Norm of the Bergman projection onto the Bloch spave

We consider weighted Bergman projection $P_α: L^{\infty}(\Bbb B) \rightarrow {\cal B} $ where $α>-1$ and $\cal B$ is the Bloch space of the unit ball $\Bbb B$ of the complex space $\Bbb C^n.$ We obtain the exact norm of the operator $P_α$ where the Bloch space is observed as a space with norm (and semi-norm) induced from the Besov space $B_{p},0<p<\infty,(B_{\infty}=\cal B).$ Our work contains, as a special case, the main results from \cite{Kalaj} and \cite{Ant}.

Quasiconformal harmonic mappings between Dini's smooth Jordan domains

Let $D$ and $Ω$ be Jordan domains with Dini's smooth boundaries and and let $f:D\mapsto Ω$ be a harmonic homeomorphism. The object of the paper is to prove the following result: If $f$ is quasiconformal, then $f$ is Lipschitz. This extends some recent results, where stronger assumptions on the boundary are imposed, and somehow is optimal, since it coincides with the best condition for Lipschitz behavior of conformal mappings in the plane and conformal parametrization of minimal surfaces.

Quasiconformal maps with controlled Laplacian

We establish that every $K$-quasiconformal mapping of $w$ of the unit disk $\ID$ onto a $C^2$-Jordan domain $Ω$ is Lipschitz provided that $Δw\in L^p(\ID)$ for some $p>2$. We also prove that if in this situation $K\to 1$ with $\|Δw\|_{L^p(\ID)}\to 0$, and $Ω\to \ID$ in $C^{1,α}$-sense with $α>1/2,$ then the bound for the Lipschitz constant tends to $1$. In addition, we provide a quasiconformal analogue of the Smirnov absolute continuity result over the boundary.

On real part theorem for the higher derivatives of analytic functions in the unit disk

Let $n$ be a positive integer. Let $\mathbf U$ be the unit disk, $p\ge 1$ and let $h^p(\mathbf U)$ be the Hardy space of harmonic functions. Kresin and Maz'ya in a recent paper found the representation for the function $H_{n,p}(z)$ in the inequality $$|f^{(n)} (z)|\leq H_{n,p}(z)|\Re(f-\mathcal P_l)|_{h^p(\mathbf U)}, \Re f\in h^p(\mathbf U), z\in \mathbf U,$$ where $\mathcal P_l$ is a polynomial of degree $l\le n-1$. We find or represent the sharp constant $C_{p,n}$ in the inequality $H_{n,p}(z)\le \frac{C_{p,n}}{(1-|z|^2)^{1/p+n}}$. This extends a recent result of the second author and Marković, where it was considered the case $n=1$ only. As a corollary, an inequality for the modulus of the $n-{th}$ derivative of an analytic function defined in a complex domain with the bounded real part is obtained. This result improves some recent result of Kresin and Maz'ya.

Radial extension of a bi-Lipschitz parametrization of a starlike Jordan curve

In this paper we discus the radial extension $w$ of a bi-Lipschitz parameterization $F(e^{it})=f(t)$ of a starlike Jordan curve $γ$ w.r. to 0. We show that, if parameterization is bi-Lipschitz, then the extension is bi-Lipschitz and consequently quasiconformal. If $γ$ is the unit circle, then $\mathrm{Lip}(f)=\mathrm{Lip}(F)=\mathrm{Lip}(w)=K_w$. If $γ$ is not a circle centered at origin, and $F$ is a polar parametrization of $γ$, then we show that $\mathrm{Lip}(f)=\mathrm{Lip}(F)<\mathrm{Lip}(w)$.

Energy-minimal diffeomorphisms between doubly connected Riemann surfaces

Let $N=(Ω,σ)$ and $M=(Ω^*,ρ)$ be doubly connected Riemann surfaces and assume that $ρ$ is a smooth metric with bounded Gauss curvature $\mathcal{K}$ and finite area. The paper establishes the existence of homeomorphisms between $Ω$ and $Ω^*$ that minimize the Dirichlet energy. In the class of all homeomorphisms $f \colon Ω\onto Ω^\ast$ between doubly connected domains such that $\Mod Ω\le \Mod Ω^\ast$ there exists, unique up to conformal authomorphisms of $Ω$, an energy-minimal diffeomorphism which is a harmonic diffeomorphism. The results improve and extend some recent results of Iwaniec, Koh, Kovalev and Onninen (Inven. Math. (2011)), where the authors considered doubly connected domains in the complex plane w.r. to Euclidean metric.

We prove that if there exists a proper hyperbolic harmonic mapping between annuli ${\mathcal{A}}(x_0,a,b)$ and ${\mathcal{A}}(y_0,α,β)$ in the hyperbolic space $\mathbf H^3$, then $β/α>1+ψ(a,b)$, where $ψ$ is a positive function.

Norm inequalities for vector functions

We study vector functions of ${\mathbb R}^n$ into itself, which are of the form $x \mapsto g(|x|)x\,,$ where $g : (0,\infty) \to (0,\infty) $ is a continuous function and call these radial functions. In the case when $g(t) = t^c$ for some $c \in {\mathbb R}\,,$ we find upper bounds for the distance of image points under such a radial function. Some of our results refine recent results of L. Maligranda and S. Dragomir. In particular, we study quasiconformal mappings of this simple type and obtain norm inequalities for such mappings.

Optimal estimates for harmonic functions in the unit ball

This extends and improves some results of Axler, Bourdon and Ramey (\cite{ABR}), where they obtained similar results which are sharp only in the cases $p=2$ and $p=1$.

Quasiconformal harmonic mappings between $\,\mathscr C^{1,μ}$ Euclidean surfaces

The conformal deformations are contained in two classes of mappings: quasiconformal and harmonic mappings. In this paper we consider the intersection of these classes. We show that, every $K$ quasiconformal harmonic mapping between $\,\mathscr C^{1,μ}$ ($0<α\le 1$) surfaces with $\,\mathscr C^{1,μ}$ boundary is a Lipschitz mapping. This extends some recent results of several authors where the same problem has been considered for plane domains. As an application it is given an explicit Lipschitz constant of normalized isothermal coordinates of a disk-type minimal surface in terms of boundary curve only. It seems that this kind of estimates are new for conformal mappings of the unit disk onto a Jordan domain as well.

Radius of Close-to-convexity of Harmonic Functions

Let ${\mathcal H}$ denote the class of all normalized complex-valued harmonic functions $f=h+\bar{g}$ in the unit disk ${\mathbb D}$, and let $K=H+\bar{G}$ denote the harmonic Koebe function. Let $a_n,b_n, A_n, B_n$ denote the Maclaurin coefficients of $h,g,H,G$, and $${\mathcal F}=\{f=h+\bar{g}\in {\mathcal H}:\,|a_n|\leq A_n and |b_n|\leq B_n for n\geq 1}. $$ We show that the radius of univalence of the family ${\mathcal F}$ is $0.112903...$. We also show that this number is also the radius of the starlikeness of ${\mathcal F}$. Analogous results are proved for a subclass of the class of harmonic convex functions in ${\mathcal H}$. These results are obtained as a consequence of a new coefficient inequality for certain class of harmonic close-to-convex functions. Surprisingly, the new coefficient condition helps to improve Bloch-Landau constant for bounded harmonic mappings.

Cauchy transform and Poisson's equation

Let $u\in W^{2,p}_0$, $1\le p\le \infty$ be a solution of the Poisson equation $Δu = h$, $h\in L^p$, in the unit disk. It is proved that $\|\nabla u\|_{L^p} \le a_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $a_p$ for $p=1$ and $p=\infty$ and that $\|\partial u\|_{L^p} \le b_p\|h\|_{L^p}$ with sharp constant $b_p$ for $p=1$, $p=2$ and $p=\infty$. In addition is proved that for $p>2$ $||\partial u||_{L^\infty}\le c_p\Vert h\Vert_{L^p} $, and $||\nabla u||_{L^\infty}\le C_p\Vert h\Vert_{L^p}, $ with sharp constants $c_p$ and $C_p$. An extension to smooth Jordan domains is given. These problems are equivalent to determining the precise value of $L^p$ norm of {\it Cauchy transform of Dirichlet's problem}.

Harmonic mappings and distance function

We prove the following theorem: every quasiconformal harmonic mapping between two plane domains with $C^{1,α}$ ($α<1$), respectively $C^{1,1}$ compact boundary is bi-Lipschitz. Harmonic maps between annuli on Riemann surfaces

Let $ρ_Σ=h(|z|^2)$ be a metric in a Riemann surface $Σ$, where $h$ is a positive real function. Let $\mathcal H_{r_1}=\{w=f(z)\}$ be the family of univalent $ρ_Σ$ harmonic mapping of the Euclidean annulus $A(r_1,1):=\{z:r_1< |z| <1\}$ onto a proper annulus $A_Σ$ of the Riemann surface $Σ$, which is subject of some geometric restrictions. It is shown that if $A_Σ$ is fixed, then $\sup\{r_1: \mathcal H_{r_1}\neq \emptyset \}<1$. This generalizes the similar results from Euclidean case. The cases of Riemann and of hyperbolic harmonic mappings are treated in detail. Using the fact that the Gauss map of a surface with constant mean curvature (CMC) is a Riemann harmonic mapping, an application to the CMC surfaces is given (see Corollary \ref{cor}). In addition some new examples of hyperbolic and Riemann radial harmonic diffeomorphisms are given, which have inspired some new J. C. C. Nitsche type conjectures for the class of these mappings.

On boundary correspondence of q.c. harmonic mappings between smooth Jordan domains

A quantitative version of an inequality obtained in \cite[Theorem~2.1]{mathz} is given. More precisely, for normalized $K$ quasiconformal harmonic mappings of the unit disk onto a Jordan domain $Ω\in C^{1,μ} $ ($0<μ\le 1$) we give an explicit Lipschitz constant depending on the structure of $Ω$ and on $K$. In addition we give a characterization of q.c. harmonic mappings of the unit disk onto an arbitrary Jordan domain with $C^{2,α}$ boundary in terms of boundary function using the Hilbert transformations. Moreover it is given a sharp explicit quasiconformal constant in terms of the boundary function.
