Classic and exotic Besov spaces induced by good grids

In a previous work we introduced Besov spaces $\mathcal{B}^s_{p,q}$ defined on a measure spaces with a good grid, with $p\in [1,\infty)$, $q\in [1,\infty]$ and $0< s< 1/p$. Here we show that classical Besov spaces on compact homogeneous spaces are examples of such Besov spaces. On the other hand we show that even Besov spaces defined by a good grid made of partitions by intervals may differ from a classical Besov space, giving birth to exotic Besov spaces.

Transfer operators and atomic decomposition

We use the method of atomic decomposition and a new family of Banach spaces to study the action of transfer operators associated to piecewise-defined maps. It turns out that these transfer operators are quasi-compact even when the associated potential, the dynamics and the underlying phase space have very low regularity. In particular it is often possible to obtain exponential decay of correlations, the Central Limit Theorem and almost sure invariance principle for fairly general observables, including unbounded ones.

Central limit theorem for generalized Weierstrass functions

Let $f$ be a $C^{2+ε}$ expanding map of the circle and $v$ be a $C^{1+ε}$ real function of the circle. Consider the twisted cohomological equation $v(x) = α(f(x)) - Df(x) α(x)$ which has a unique bounded solution $α$. We prove that $α$ is either $C^{1+ε}$ or nowhere differentiable, and if $α$ is nowhere differentiable then the Newton quotients of $α$, after an appropriated normalization, converges in distribution to the normal distribution, with respect to the unique absolutely continuous invariant probability of $f$.

Central limit theorem for the modulus of continuity of averages of observables on transversal families of piecewise expanding unimodal maps

We prove that the Newton quotient of the average R(t) of a lipschitzian function (with non vanishing variation) with respect to the SRB measure on a transversal family f_t of piecewise expanding unimodal maps, after an appropriated normalization, converges in distribution to the normal distribution.

Ergodic Transport Theory and Piecewise Analytic Subactions for Analytic Dynamics

We consider a piecewise analytic real expanding map $f: [0,1]\to [0,1]$ of degree $d$ which preserves orientation, and a real analytic positive potential $g: [0,1] \to \mathbb{R}$. We assume the map and the potential have a complex analytic extension to a neighborhood of the interval in the complex plane. We also assume $\log g$ is well defined for this extension. It is known in Complex Dynamics that under the above hypothesis, for the given potential $β\,\log g$, where $β$ is a real constant, there exists a real analytic eigenfunction $ϕ_β$ defined on $[0,1]$ (with a complex analytic extension) for the Ruelle operator of $β\,\log g$. Under some assumptions we show that $\frac{1}β\, \log ϕ_β$ converges and is a piecewise analytic calibrated subaction. Our theory can be applied when $\log g(x)=-\log f'(x)$. In that case we relate the involution kernel to the so called scaling function.

Metric stability for random walks (with applications in renormalization theory)

Consider deterministic random walks F: I x Z -> I x Z, defined by F(x,n)=(f(x), K(x)+n), where f is an expanding Markov map on the interval I and K: I->Z. We study the universality (stability) of ergodic (for instance, recurrence and transience), geometric and multifractal properties in the class of perturbations of the type G(x,n)=(f_n(x), L(x,n)+n) which are topologically conjugate with F and f_n are expanding maps exponentially close to f when |n| goes to infinity. We give applications of these results in the study of the regularity of conjugacies between (generalized) infinitely renormalizable maps of the interval and the existence of wild attractors for one-dimensional maps.

Renormalization for piecewise smooth homeomorphisms on the circle

In this work we study the renormalization operator acting on piecewise smooth homeomorphisms on the circle, that turns out to be essentially the study of Rauzy-Veech renormalizations of generalized interval exchanges maps with genus one. In particular we show that renormalizations of such maps with zero mean nonlinearity and satisfying certain smoothness and combinatorial assumptions converges to the set of piecewise affine interval exchange maps.

Piecewise Analytic Subactions for Analytic Dynamics

We consider a piecewise analytic expanding map f: [0,1]-> [0,1] of degree d which preserves orientation, and an analytic positive potential g: [0,1] -> R. We address the analysis of the following problem: for a given analytic potential beta log g, where beta is a real constant, it is well known that there exists a real analytic (with a complex analytic extension to a small complex neighborhood of [0,1]) eigenfunction phi_beta for the Ruelle operator. One can ask: what happen with the function phi_beta, when beta goes to infinity. The domain of analyticity can change with beta. The correct question should be: is 1/ beta log phi_beta analytic in the limit, when beta goes to infinity ? Under a uniqueness assumption, this limit, when beta goes to infinity, is in fact a calibrated subaction V (see bellow definition). We show here that under certain conditions and for a certain class of generic potentials this continuous function is piecewise analytic (but not analytic). In a few examples one can get that the subaction is analytic (we need at least to assume that the maximizing probability has support in a unique fixed point).

Renormalization for critical orders close to 2N

We study the dynamics of the renormalization operator acting on the space of pairs (v,t), where v is a diffeomorphism and t belongs to [0,1], interpreted as unimodal maps x-->v(q_t(x)), where q_t(x)=-2t|x|^a+2t-1. We prove the so called complex bounds for sufficiently renormalizable pairs with bounded combinatorics. This allows us to show that if the critical exponent a is close to an even number then the renormalization operator has a unique fixed point. Furthermore this fixed point is hyperbolic and its codimension one stable manifold contains all infinitely renormalizable pairs.
