The uniqueness and concentration behavior of solutions for a nonlinear fractional Schrödinger system

The paper is concerned with a nonlinear system of two coupled fractional Schrödinger equations with both attractive intraspecies and attractive interspecies interactions in $\mathbb{R}$. By analyzing an associated $L^2$-constrained minimization problem, the uniqueness of solutions to this system is proved via the implicit function theorem. Under a certain type of trapping potential, by establishing some delicate energy estimates, we present a detailed analysis on the concentration behavior of the solutions as the total strength of intraspecies and interspecies interactions tends to a critical value, where each component of the solutions blows up and concentrates at a flattest common minimum point of the associated trapping potentials. An optimal blow-up rate of solutions to the system is also given.

Enhancing the understanding of hydrogen evolution and oxidation reaction on Pt(111) through ab initio simulations on electrode/electrolyte kinetics

The hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) play an important role in hydrogen based energy conversion. Recently, the frustrating performance in alkaline media raised debates on the relevant mechanism, especially on the role of surface hydroxyl (OH*). We present a full pH range electrode/electrolyte kinetics simulation for HER/HOR on Pt(111), with the potential-related rate constants been calculated with density functional theory methods. The polarization curves agree well with the experimental observations. The stability of OH* is found to be unlikely an effective activity descriptor since it is irrelevant to the onset potential of HOR/HER. Degree of rate control analyses reveal that the alkaline current is controlled jointly by Tafel and Volmer steps, while the acidic current solely by Tafel step, which explains the observed pH-dependent kinetics. Therefore, it is also possible to reduce the overpotential of alkaline HER/HOR by accelerating the Tafel step besides tuning the hydrogen binding energy.

Minimal $P$-symmetric period problem of first-order autonomous Hamiltonian Systems

Let $P\in Sp(2n)$ satisfying $P^{k}=I_{2n}$, we consider the minimal $P$-symmetric period problem of the autonomous nonlinear Hamiltonian system \begin{equation*} \dot x(t) = JH^{\prime}(x(t)). \end{equation*} For some symplectic matrices $P$, we show that for any $τ>0$ the above Hamiltonian system possesses a $kτ$ periodic solution $x$ with $kτ$ being its minimal $P$-symmetric period provided $H$ satisfies the Rabinowitz's conditions on the minimal period conjecture, together with that $H$ is convex and $H(Px)=H(x)$.

Multi-bump solutions for fractional Nirenberg problem

We consider the multi-bump solutions of the following fractional Nirenberg problem \begin{equation}\label{01} (-Δ)^s u=K(x)u^{\frac{n+2s}{n-2s}}, \;\;\;\;u>0\;\;\text{ in }\mathbb{R}^n, \end{equation} where $s\in (0,1)$ and $n>2+2s$. If $K$ is a periodic function in some $k$ variables with $1\leq k<\frac{n-2s}2$, we proved that \eqref{01} has multi-bump solutions with bumps clustered on some lattice points in $\mathbb{R}^k$ via Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction. It is also established that the equation \eqref{01} has an infinite-many-bump solutions with bumps clustered on some lattice points in $\mathbb{R}^n$ which is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_+^k$.

Subharmonic Solutions and Minimal Periodic Solutions of First-order Hamiltonian Systems with Anisotropic Growth

Using a homologically link theorem in variational theory and iteration inequalities of Maslov-type index, we show the existence of a sequence of subharmonic solutions of non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems with the Hamiltonian functions satisfying some anisotropic growth conditions, i.e., the Hamiltonian functions may have simultaneously, in different components, superquadratic, subquadratic and quadratic behaviors. Moreover, we also consider the minimal period problem of some autonomous Hamiltonian systems with anisotropic growth.

Ground state solutions for non-autonomous fractional Choquard equations

We consider the following nonlinear fractional Choquard equation, \begin{equation}\label{e:introduction} \begin{cases} (-Δ)^{s} u + u = (1 + a(x))(I_α\ast (|u|^{p}))|u|^{p - 2}u\quad\text{ in }\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u(x)\to 0\quad\text{ as }|x|\to \infty, \end{cases} \end{equation} here $s\in (0, 1)$, $α\in (0, N)$, $p\in [2, \infty)$ and $\frac{N - 2s}{N + α} < \frac{1}{p} < \frac{N}{N + α}$. Assume $\lim_{|x|\to\infty}a(x) = 0$ and satisfying suitable assumptions but not requiring any symmetry property on $a(x)$, we prove the existence of ground state solutions.

Seifert conjecture in the even convex case

In this paper, we prove that there exist at least $n$ geometrically distinct brake orbits on every $C^2$ compact convex symmetric hypersurface $\Sg$ in $\R^{2n}$ satisfying the reversible condition $N\Sg=\Sg$ with $N=\diag (-I_n,I_n)$. As a consequence, we show that if the Hamiltonian function is convex and even, then Seifert conjecture of 1948 on the multiplicity of brake orbits holds for any positive integer $n$.

Existence and multiplicity of Homoclinic solutions for the second order Hamiltonian systems

In this paper we study the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions for the second order Hamiltonian system $\ddot{u}-L(t)u(t)+W_u(t,u)=0$, $\forall t\in\mathbb{R}$, by means of the minmax arguments in the critical point theory, where $L(t)$ is unnecessary uniformly positively definite for all $t\in \mathbb{R}$ and $W_u(t, u)$ sastisfies the asymptotically linear condition.

Iteration theory of $L$-index and Multiplicity of brake orbits

In this paper, we first establish the Bott-type iteration formulas and some abstract precise iteration formulas of the Maslov-type index theory associated with a Lagrangian subspace for symplectic paths. As an application, we prove that there exist at least $[\frac{n}{2}]+1$ geometrically distinct brake orbits on every $C^2$ compact convex symmetric hypersurface $Σ$ in $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ satisfying the reversible condition $NΣ=Σ$, furthermore, if all brake orbits on this hypersurface are nondegenerate, then there are at least $n$ geometrically distinct brake orbits on it. As a consequence, we show that there exist at least $[\frac{n}{2}]+1$ geometrically distinct brake orbits in every bounded convex symmetric domain in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, furthermore, if all brake orbits in this domain are nondegenerate, then there are at least $n$ geometrically distinct brake orbits in it. In the symmetric case, we give a positive answer to the Seifert conjecture of 1948 under a generic condition.

Multiple brake orbits on compact convex symmetric reversible hypersurfaces in $\R^{2n}$

In this paper, we prove that there exist at least $[\frac{n+1}{2}]+1$ geometrically distinct brake orbits on every $C^2$ compact convex symmetric hypersurface $\Sg$ in $\R^{2n}$ for $n\ge 2$ satisfying the reversible condition $N\Sg=\Sg$ with $N=\diag (-I_n,I_n)$. As a consequence, we show that there exist at least $[\frac{n+1}{2}]+1$ geometrically distinct brake orbits in every bounded convex symmetric domain in $\R^{n}$ with $n\ge 2$ which gives a positive answer to the Seifert conjecture of 1948 in the symmetric case for $n=3$. As an application, for $n=4$ and 5, we prove that if there are exactly $n$ geometrically distinct closed characteristics on $\Sg$, then all of them are symmetric brake orbits after suitable time translation.

Brake subharmonic solutions of first order Hamiltonian systems

In this paper, we mainly use the Galerkin approximation method and the iteration inequalities of the $L$-Maslov type index theory to study the properties of brake subharmonic solutions for the first order non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems. We prove that when the positive integers $j$ and $k$ satisfies the certain conditions, there exists a $jT$-periodic nonconstant brake solution $z_{j}$ such that $z_{j}$ and $z_{kj}$ are distinct.

Existence of Nontrivial Solutions for p-Laplacian Equations in {R}^{N}

In this paper, we consider a p-Laplacian equation in {R}^{N}with sign-changing potential and subcritical p-superlinear nonlinearity. By using the cohomological linking method for cones developed by Degiovanni and Lancelotti in 2007, an existence result is obtained. We also give a result on the existence of periodic solutions for one-dimensional $p$-Laplacian equations which can be proved by the same method.

Symmetrical Symplectic Capacity with Applications

In this paper, we first introduce the concept of symmetrical symplectic capacity for symmetrical symplectic manifolds, and by using this symmetrical symplectic capacity theory we prove that there exists at least one symmetric closed characteristic (brake orbit and $S$-invariant brake orbit are two examples) on prescribed symmetric energy surface which has a compact neighborhood with finite symmetrical symplectic capacity.
