Electron and muon $g-2$, radiative neutrino mass, and $\ell' \to \ell γ$ in a $U(1)_{e-μ}$ model

A nonconventional $U(1)_{e-μ}$ gauge model is proposed to explain the unexpected anomalous magnetic moments of the electron and muon (lepton $g-2$), where only the right-handed electron and muon in the standard model carry the $U(1)_{e-μ}$ charge. Although the light lepton masses are suppressed when the gauge symmetry is spontaneously broken, they can be generated through the Yukawa couplings to newly introduced particles, such as vector-like lepton doublets and singlet, and scalar singlets. It is found that the same Yukawa couplings combined with the new scalar couplings to the Higgs can induce the radiative lepton-flavor violation processes $\ell' \to \ell γ$ and lepton $g-2$, where the lepton $g-2$ is proportional to $m_{\ell}$. When Majorana fermions and a scalar singlet are further added into the model, the active neutrinos can obtain masses via the radiative seesaw mechanism. When the bounds from the $m_e$ and $m_μ$ and the neutrino data are satisfied, we find that the electron $g-2$ can reach an order of $-10^{-12}$, and the muon $g-2$ can be an order of $10^{-9}$. In addition, when the $μ\to e γ$ decay is suppressed, the resulting branching ratio for $τ\to e γ$ can be of $O(10^{-8})$, and that for $τ\to μγ$ can be as large as the current upper limit.

Radiatively scotogenic type-II seesaw and a relevant phenomenological analysis

When a small vacuum expectation value of Higgs triplet ($v_Δ$) in the type-II seesaw model is required to explain neutrino oscillation data, a fine-tuning issue occurs on the mass-dimension lepton-number-violation (LNV) scalar coupling. Using the scotogenic approach, we investigate how a small LNV term is arisen through a radiative correction when an $Z_2$-odd vector-like lepton ($X$) and an $Z_2$-odd right-handed Majorana lepton ($N$) are introduced to the type-II seesaw model. Due to the dark matter (DM) direct detection constraints, the available DM candidate is the right-handed Majorana particle, whose mass depends on and is close to the $m_X$ parameter. Combing the constraints from the DM measurements, the $h\to γγ$ decay, and the oblique $T$-parameter, it is found that the preferred range of $v_Δ$ is approximately in the region of $10^{-5}-10^{-4}$ GeV; the mass difference between the doubly and the singly charged Higgs is less than 50 GeV, and the influence on the $h\to Zγ$ is not significant. Using the constrained parameters, we analyze the decays of each Higgs triplet scalar in detail, including the possible three-body decays when the kinematic condition is allowed. It is found that with the exception of doubly charged Higgs, scalar mixing effects play an important role in the Higgs triplet two-body decays when the scalar masses are near-degenerate. In the non-degenerate mass region, the branching ratios of the Higgs triplet decays are dominated by the three-body decays.

$h,Z\to \ell_i \bar\ell_j$, $Δa_μ$, $τ\to (3μ,μγ)$ in generic two-Higgs-doublet models

Inspired by a significance of $2.4σ$ in $h\to μτ$ decay observed by CMS at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV, we investigate the Higgs lepton flavor violating effects in the generic two-Higgs-doublet model (GTHDM), where the lepton flavor changing neutral currents are induced at tree level and arisen from Yukawa sector. We revisit the constraints for GTHDM by considering theoretical requirements, precision measurements of $δρ$ and oblique parameters $S$, $T$, $U$ and Higgs measurements. The bounds from Higgs data now play the major role. With the values of parameters that simultaneously satisfy the Higgs bounds and the excess of Higgs coupling to $μ$-$τ$ at CMS, we find that the tree-level $τ\to 3μ$ and loop-induced $τ\to μγ$ could be consistent with current experimental upper limits; the discrepancy in muon $g-2$ between experiment and standard model prediction could be solved; and an interesting relation between muon $g-2$ and branching ratio (BR) for $μ\to e γ$ is found. The GTHM results that the ratio $BR(h\to eτ)/BR(h\to μτ)$ should be smaller than $10^{-4}$ in order of magnitude. Additionally, we also study the rare decay $Z\to μτ$ and get $BR(Z\to μτ)< 10^{-6}$.

Bounds on LFV Higgs decays in a vector-like lepton model and searching for doubly charged leptons at the LHC

The Higgs-portal lepton flavor violation is studied in a vectorlike lepton model. For evading the constraints from rare $Z\to \ell^\pm_i \ell^\mp_j$ decays, we introduce two triplet vectorlike leptons, $(1,3)_{-1}$ and $(1,3)_{0}$. The resultant branching ratio for $h\to μτ$ can be up to $10^{-4}$ when the constraints from the invisible $Z$ decays are applied. As a result, the signal strength for $ττ$ channel has a $12\%$ deviation from the standard model prediction, while the muon $g-2$ is two-order of magnitude smaller than the data and $BR(τ\to μγ)$ is of order of $10^{-12}$. A predicted doubly charged lepton in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV is analyzed and it is found that the interesting production channels are $pp\to (Ψ^{--}_{1} Ψ^{++}_1, Ψ^{\pm\pm}_1 Ψ^\mp_1)$. Both single and pair production cross sections of $Ψ^{++}_1$ are comparable and can be a few hundred fb. The main decay channels for the doubly charged lepton are $Ψ^{\pm\pm} \to \ell^\pm W^\pm$ and for the heavy singly charged lepton are $Ψ^\pm_1 \to νW^\pm, \ell^\pm Z$. The numerical analysis is given at $13$ TeV LHC with $100$ fb$^{-1}$ luminosity.

Explanation of $B \to K^{(*)} \ell^+ \ell^-$ and muon $g-2$, and implications at the LHC

More than $3σ$ deviations from the standard model are observed in the angular observable $P'_5$ of $B\to K^* μ^+ μ^-$ and muon $g-2$. To resolve these anomalies, we extend the standard model by adding two leptoquarks. It is found that the signal strength of the diphoton Higgs decay can exhibit a significant deviation from unity and is within the data errors. Although $\ell_i \to \ell_j γ$ puts severe bounds on some couplings, it is found that the excesses of $P'_5$ and muon $g-2$ can still be explained and can be accommodated to the measurement of $B_s\to μ^+ μ^-$ in this model. In addition, the leptoquark effects can also explain the LHCb measurement of $R_K = BR(B^+ \to K^+ μ^+μ^-)/BR(B^+ \to K^+ e^+e^-)=0.745^{+0.090}_{-0.074} \pm 0.036$, which shows a $2.6σ$ deviation from the standard model prediction.

Higgs singlet boson as a diphoton resonance in a vector-like quark model

ATLAS and CMS recently show the first results from run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. A resonant bump at a mass of around 750 GeV in the diphoton invariant mass spectrum is indicated and the corresponding diphoton production cross section is around 3-10 fb. Motivated by the LHC diphoton excess, we propose that the possible resonance candidate is a Higgs singlet. To produce the Higgs singlet via gluon-gluon fusion process, we embed the Higgs singlet in the framework of vector-like triplet quark (VLTQ) model. As a result, the Higgs singlet decaying to diphoton final state is via VLTQ loops. Using the enhanced number of new quarks and new Yukawa couplings of the VLTQs and Higgs singlet, we successfully explain the diphoton production cross section. We find that the width of the Higgs singlet is below 1 GeV, its production cross section can be of order of 1 pb at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, and the branching ratio for it decaying to diphoton is around $0.017$ and is insensitive to the masses of VLTQs and new Yukawa couplings. We find a strong correlation between the Higgs Yukawa couplings to $s$-$b$ and $c$-$t$; the resulted branching ratio for $t \to c h$ can be $1.1\times 10^{-4}$ when the constraint from $B_s$ oscillation is applied. With the constrained parameter values, the signal strength for the SM Higgs decaying to diphoton is $μ_{γγ}< 1.18$, which is consistent with the current measurements at ATLAS and CMS.

Light gauge boson in rare $K$ decay

We study the production of a light gauge boson in $K^- \to π^- X$ decay, where the associated new charge current is not conserved. It is found that the process can be generated by the tree-level $W$-boson annihilation and loop-induced $s\to dX$. We find that it strongly depends on the $SU(3)$ limit or the unique gauge coupling to the quarks, whether the decay amplitude of $K^-\to π^- X$ in the $W$-boson annihilation is suppressed by $m^2_X ε_X \cdot p_K$; however, no such suppression is found via the loop-induced $s\to d X$. The constraints on the relevant couplings are studied.

Searching for Vector Dark Matter by Higgs Portal at the LHC

A Higgs portal dark matter model for explaining the gamma-ray excess from the galactic center can be realized with the extension of local $SU(2)_X$ gauge symmetry with one quadruplet. Due to the residual $Z_3$ discrete symmetry of $SU(2)_X$, the new gauge bosons are the stable dark matter candidates. Due to the mixture of the standard model Higgs doublet and the introduced quadruplet, dark matter could annihilate into the standard model particles through the Higgs portal and new scalar portal. We study the discovery significance of the vector dark matter at the Large Hadron Collider. The involved parameters are consistent with the constraints from relic density and direct detection and with the data of the galactic center gamma-ray excess. With $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV and luminosities of $100$ and $300$ fb$^{-1}$, we find that a discovery significance of $S/\sqrt{B}=5$ can be easily reached if the production of dark matter is through the invisible decays of the Higgs boson and a new scalar boson.

Single production of $X_{\pm 5/3}$ and $Y_{\mp 4/3}$ vectorlike quarks at the LHC

Two triplet vector-like quarks (VLQs) with hypercharges of $Y=2/3, -1/3$ and one singlet scalar boson are embedded in the standard model (SM) to resolve the 750 GeV diphoton excess. The constraints on the tree-level Higgs- and $Z$-mediated flavor-changing neutral currents are discussed in detail. Besides the resolution of excess, it is found that the signal strength of diphoton Higgs decay can have a $10\%$ deviation from the SM prediction and that the upper limits of the branching ratios for rare top-quark decays are $BR(t\to c (h, Z)) < (6.8, 0.48) \times 10^{-5}$. We find that the production cross section of a single VLQ by electroweak processes is larger than that of VLQ-pair by QCD processes. To explore the signals of the heavy VLQs at the LHC, we throughly analyze the production of single $X_{\pm 5/3}$ and $Y_{\mp 4/3}$ via $q_i q'_j$ annihilations in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV. It is found that the electroweak production cross sections for $d X_{5/3}$, $u Y_{-4/3} $, and $d Y_{4/3} $ channels with $m_X=m_Y=1$ TeV can be $84.3$, $72.3$, and $157.8$ fb, respectively; and the dominant decay modes are $X_{5/3} \to (c,t) W^+$ and $Y_{-4/3} \to (s,b) W^-$. With adopting kinematic cuts, the significance for $pp\to d W^+ t$ channel can be over $5σ$.

Two-Higgs-Doublet type-II and -III models and $t\to c h$ at the LHC

We study the constraints of the generic two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) type-III and the impacts of the new Yukawa couplings. For comparisons, we revisit the analysis in the 2HDM type-II. To understand the influence of all involving free parameters and to realize their correlations, we employ $χ$-square fitting approach by including theoretical and experimental constraints, such as S, T, and U oblique parameters, the production of standard model Higgs and its decay to $γγ$, $WW^*/ZZ^*$, $τ^+τ^-$, etc. The errors of analysis are taken at $68\%$, $95.5\%$, and $99.7\%$ confidence levels. Due to the new Yukawa couplings being associated with $\cos(β-α)$ and $\sin(β-α)$, we find that the allowed regions for $\sinα$ and $\tanβ$ in the type-III model can be broader when the dictated parameter $χ_F$ is positive; however, for negative $χ_F$, the limits are stricter than those in the type-II model. By using the constrained parameters, we find that the deviation from the SM in the $h\to Zγ$ can be of ${\cal O}(10\%)$. Additionally, we also study the top-quark flavor-changing processes induced at the tree level in the type-III model and find that when all current experimental data are considered, we get $Br(t\to c(h, H) )< 10^{-3}$ for $m_h=125.36$ and $m_H=150$ GeV and $Br(t\to cA)$ slightly exceeds $10^{-3}$ for $m_A =130$ GeV.

$SU(2)_X$ Vector DM and Galactic Center Gamma-Ray Excess

An unbroken $Z_3$ symmetry remains when local $SU(2)_X$ is broken spontaneously by one quadruplet. The gauge boson $χ_μ(\bar χ_μ)$ carries the dark charge and is the candidate of dark matter (DM). By the mixture of scalar boson $ϕ_r$ of quadruplet and standard model (SM) Higgs, the DM can annihilate to SM particles through Higgs portal. For investigating the implications of vector DM, we study the relic density of DM, the direct detection of DM-nucleon scattering and the excess of gamma-ray spectrum, which is supported by the data from {\it Fermi} Gamma-Ray Space Telescope. We find that with the DM mass of around $70$ GeV in our model, the excess of gamma-ray could be fitted well with the data.

2 TeV Higgs boson and diboson excess at the LHC

Diboson resonance with mass around 2 TeV in the dijet invariant mass spectrum is reported by ATLAS experiment in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV. We propose that the candidate of resonance is a heavy neutral Higgs $H^0$ or charged Higgs $H^\pm$ and use the extended two-Higgs-doublet (THD) to demonstrate the potentiality. We find that the large Yukawa coupling to the first generation of quarks can be realized in THD and the required value for producing the right resonance production cross section is of ${\cal O}(0.06-0.2)$. Besides $WW/ZZ$ channels, we find that if the mass of pseudoscalar $A^0$ satisfies the jet mass tagging condition $|m_j - m_{Z/W}|< 13$ GeV, the diboson excess could be also caused by $ZA^0$ or $WA^0$ channel.

Dark matter for excess of AMS-02 positrons and antiprotons

We propose a dark matter explanation to simultaneously account for the excess of antiproton-to-proton and positron power spectra observed in the AMS-02 experiment while having the right dark matter relic abundance and satisfying the current direct search bounds. We extend the Higgs triplet model with a hidden gauge symmetry of $SU(2)_X$ that is broken to $Z_3$ by a quadruplet scalar field, rendering the associated gauge bosons stable weakly-interacting massive particle dark matter candidates. By coupling the complex Higgs triplet and the $SU(2)_X$ quadruplet, the dark matter candidates can annihilate into triplet Higgs bosons each of which in turn decays into lepton or gauge boson final states. Such a mechanism gives rise to correct excess of positrons and antiprotons with an appropriate choice of the triplet vacuum expectation value. Besides, the model provides a link between neutrino mass and dark matter phenomenology.

Diboson excess in the Higgs singlet and vector-like quark models

Diboson resonance with mass of $1.8-2$ TeV is reported successively by CMS and ATLAS experiments in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV. We investigate the potentiality of Higgs singlet as the TeV resonance. The challenges of low production cross section and high width for a fundamental scalar could be got over by three factors: (1) larger Yukawa couplings, (2) larger number of heavy quarks and (3) smaller mixing angle with standard model Higgs. We find that the required factors could be realized in the framework of two vector-like triplet quarks (VLTQs) and the resulting production cross section and decay fraction of heavy Higgs $σ(pp\to H )\times {\rm BR}(H\to W^+ W^- + ZZ)$ can be of ${\cal O}(10)$ fb when masses of new heavy quarks are 1 TeV, the values of Yukawa couplings are around $3$ and the mixing angle is $\sinθ\sim 0.11$. Furthermore, we study the product of VLTQ-pair production cross section and the BRs of VLTQ decays, and find that the cross sections in the decay channels, such as $u_{4,5} \to b W^+$, $d_5 \to t W^-$ and $d_4 \to b h(Z)$ could be $7-17$ fb at 13 TeV LHC.

Search for $δ^{\pm\pm}$ with new decay patterns at the LHC

A study of searching for doubly charged Higgs $(δ^{\pm \pm})$ is performed in two-Higgs-doublet extension of the conventional type-II seesaw model. We find that a fantastic mixing effect between singly charged Higgs of Higgs doublet and of triplet is arisen from the scalar potential. The mixing leads to following intriguing phenomena: (a) the mass splittings in triplet particles are magnified, (b) QCD processes dominate the production of $δ^{\pm \pm}$, and (c) new predominant decay channels of $δ^{\pm \pm}$ are $δ^{\pm \pm} \to W^{\pm^{[*]}} H^{\pm^{(*)}}_{1(2)}$, but not $δ^{\pm} \to (\ell^\pm \ell^\pm, W^\pm W^\pm)$ which are usually discussed in the literature. With luminosity of 40 fb$^{-1}$ and collision energy of 13 TeV, we demonstrate that $δ^{\pm \pm}$ with mass below $330$ GeV could be observed at the $5σ$ level. Moreover, when the luminosity approaches to 300 fb$^{-1}$, the observed mass of $δ^{\pm \pm}$ could reach up to 450 GeV.

Inert Dark Matter in Type-II Seesaw

Weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) as a dark matter (DM) candidate is further inspired by recent AMS-02 data, which confirm the excess of positron fraction observed earlier by PAMELA and Fermi-LAT experiments. Additionally, the excess of positron+electron flux is still significant in the measurement of Fermi-LAT. For solving the problems of massive neutrinos and observed excess of cosmic-ray, we study the model with an inert Higgs doublet (IHD) in the framework of type-II seesaw model by imposing a $Z_2$ symmetry on the IHD, where the lightest particle of IHD is the DM candidate and the neutrino masses originate from the Yukawa couplings of Higgs triplet and leptons. We calculate the cosmic-ray production in our model by using three kinds of neutrino mass spectra, which are classified by normal ordering, inverted ordering and quasi-degeneracy. We find that when the constraints of DM relic density and comic-ray antiproton spectrum are taken into account, the observed excess of positron/electron flux could be explained well in normal ordered neutrino mass spectrum. Moreover, excess of comic-ray neutrinos is implied in our model. We find that our results on $\langle σv \rangle$ are satisfied with and close to the upper limit of IceCube analysis. More data from comic-ray neutrinos could test our model.

Two-Higgs-Doublet Type-II Seesaw Model

Motivated by the new observed scalar boson of 126 GeV at ATLAS and CMS, various phenomena in two-Higgs-doublet model (THDM) are investigated broadly in the literature. For considering the model that possesses a solution to the massive neutrinos, we study the simplest extension of conventional type-II seesaw model to two Higgs doublets. We find that the new interactions in the scalar potential cause the sizable mixture of charged Higgses in triplet and doublet. As a result, we have a completely different decay pattern for doubly charged Higgs ($δ^{\pm\pm}$), even the vacuum expectation value (VEV) of Higgs triplet is at GeV level, which is limited by the precision measurement for $ρ$-parameter. For illustrating the new characters of the model, we study the influence of new interactions on the new open channels $δ^{++}\to ( H^+_1 W^{+^{(*)}}, H^+_1 H^+_1)$ with $H^+_1$ being the lightest charged Higgs. Additionally, due to the new mixing effect, the triplet charged Higgs could couple to quarks in the model; therefore, the search for $δ^{++}$ via $δ^{++}\to tb W^+ \to b \bar b W^+ W^+$ by mediated $H^+_{1}$ becomes significant.

Colored bosons on top FBA and angular cross section for $t \bar t$ production

With full data set that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9.4 fb$^{-1}$, CDF has updated the top quark forward-backward asymmetry (FBA) as functions of rapidity difference $|Δy|$ and $t\bar t$ invariant mass $M_{t\bar t}$. Beside the sustained inconsistency between experiments and standard model (SM) predictions at large $|Δy|$ and $M_{t\bar t}$, an unexpected large first Legendre moment with $a_1= 0.39\pm 0.108 $ is found. In order to solve the large top FBA, we study the contributions of color triplet scalar and color octet vector boson. We find that the top FBA at $|Δy| >1$ and $M_{t\bar t} > 450$ GeV in triplet and octet model could be enhanced to be around 30% and 20%, whereas the first Legendre moment is $a^{\bf Di}_1= 0.38$ and $a^{\bf Axi}_1= 0.23$, respectively.

A light charged Higgs boson in two-Higgs doublet model for CDF $Wjj$ anomaly

Motivated by recent anomalous CDF data on $Wjj$ events, we study a possible explanation within the framework of the two-Higgs doublet model. We find that a charged Higgs boson of mass $\sim$ 140 GeV with appropriate couplings can account for the observed excess. In addition, we consider the flavor-changing neutral current effects induced at loop level by the charged Higgs boson on the $B$ meson system to further constrain the model. Our study shows that the like-sign charge asymmetry $A_{s\ell}^b$ can be of ${\cal O}(10^{-3})$ in this scenario.

CP violation in $D^0 \to (K^- K^+, π^- π^+)$ from diquarks

The explanation of the large CP asymmetries in $D^0\to (π^+π^-, K^+K^-)$ decays observed by the LHCb collaboration is likely to call for new physics beyond the CKM paradigm. We explore new contributions caused by the color-sextet scalar diquark, and demonstrate that the diquark with the mass of order 1 TeV and nominal couplings with quarks can generate the CP asymmetries at the percent level. Using the experimental data on branching ratios and CP asymmetries of $D^0\to (π^+π^-, K^+K^-)$, we derive the constraints on the diquark mass and couplings, which can be further examined on hadron colliders in the dijet final states.

Motivated by the $3.8σ$ deviation from no CP violation hypothesis for the CP asymmetry (CPA) difference between $D^0\to K^+ K^-$ and $D^0\to π^+ π^-$, reported recently by LHCb and CDF, we investigate the CP violating effect due to the left-right (LR) mixing in the general LR symmetric model. In particular, in the non-manifest LR model we show that the large CPA difference could be explained, while the constraints from $(ε'/ε)_K$ and $D^0$-$\bar D^0$ are satisfied.

Exotic fermion multiplets as a solution to baryon asymmetry, dark matter and neutrino masses

We propose an extension to the standard model where three exotic fermion 5-plets and one scalar 6-plet are added to the particle content. By demanding that all interactions are renormalizable and standard model gauge invariant, we show that the lightest exotic particle in this model can be a dark matter candidate as long as the new 6-plet scalar does not develop a nonzero vacuum expectation value. Furthermore, light neutrino masses are generated radiatively at one-loop while the baryon asymmetry is produced by the CP-violating decays of the second lightest exotic particle. We have demonstrated using concrete examples that there is a parameter space where a consistent solution to the problems of baryon asymmetry, dark matter and neutrino masses can be obtained.

H\toγγin the Complex Two Higgs Doublet Model

We explore the parameter regions in the complex Two Higgs Doublet Model (c2HDM) with explicit CP violation that can describe current LHC hints for one or more Higgs boson signals at 125 GeV. Such a simple extension of the Standard model has three neutral Higgs bosons and a pair charged Higgs and leads to rich CP-violating sources including the CP-even CP-odd mixing of the neutral Higgs bosons. Within this model we present the production of light Higgs boson at the LHC followed by its decay into two photons. Our numerical study takes into account theoretical and experimental constraints on the Higgs potential like positivity, unitarity and perturbativity as well as $ρ$-parameter, $b\to sγ$ and $R_b$. These requirement together with the minimum conditions could explain the di-photon excess observed at the LHC. We also discuss the effects of the CP violating phases on the CP violation observable which is the difference between left-circular and right-circular polarization.

$Δm_D$ and $ΔΓ_D$ revisted

The lifetime difference ($y_D=ΔΓ_D/2Γ_D$) and mass difference ($x_D=Δm_D/Γ_D$) of neutral $D$ meson have been measured with $y_D=(0.80\pm 0.13)%$ and $x_D=(0.59 \pm 0.20)%$, respectively. Intriguingly, in contrast with the cases of $K$ and $B_q$ systems, the current data indicate that $y_D/x_D \sim 1$ and $y_D$ favors to be larger than $x_D$. For explaining the experimental indication, we here study the $D-\bar D$ oscillation in the framework of unparticle physics. We demonstrate that {\it the peculiar phase appearing in off-shell unparticle propagator} could play an important role on $x_D$ and $y_D$.

Axigluon on like-sign charge asymmetry ${\cal A}^b_{s\ell}$, FCNCs and CP asymmetries in B decays

A non-universal axigluon in generalized chiral color models leads to flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) at tree level. We analyze phenomenologically the new contributions to $B_{q}$ (q=d, s) mixing and the related CP asymmetries (CPAs) that are generated by axigluon exchange. We find that although $Δm_{B_q}$ can give a strict constraint on the parameters of $b\to q$ transition, the precise measurement of $\sin2β_{J/ΨK^0}$ can further exclude the parameter space of $b\to d$ transition. The axigluon-mediated effects can enhance the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry ${\cal A}^{b}_{s\ell}$ by one order of magnitude larger than the standard model prediction. Accordingly, large CPA $\sin2β^{J/Ψϕ}_s$ and CPA difference $\sin2β_{JΨK^0}-\sin2β_{ϕK^0}$ are achieved.

Pair production of neutralinos and charginos at the LHC: the role of Higgs bosons exchange

We analyze the effects of the s-channel Higgs bosons exchange on the charginos and neutralinos-pair production in proton-proton collision at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the following channels: $pp \to \Cha^+\Cha^-/\Neu^0\Neu^0 + X$, within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Assuming the usual GUT relation between $M_1$ and $M_2$ at the weak scale, we found that substantial enhancement can be obtained through s-channel Higgs bosons exchange in the mixed regime where $M_2 \sim |μ|$ with moderate to large $\tanβ$ at the resonance of the heavy Higgs bosons. By Combining the phenomenological constraints on neutralinos and charginos, we may still find regions of parameter space where charginos and neutralinos-pair production at the LHC from $b\bar b$ initial state can be large and observable at LHC. We also compute the full complete set of electroweak (EW) contributions to $pp\to gg\to \Cha^+\Cha^-/\Neu^0\Neu^0 + X$ at one loop level in the general MSSM. The analytical computation of the complete tree level amplitude for $b\bar{b} \to \Cha^+\Cha^-/\Neu^0\Neu^0 + X$, including s-channel Higgs exchange, is given.

Rare B decays and Tevatron top-pair asymmetry

The recent Tevatron result on the top quark forward-backward asymmetry, which deviates from its standard model prediction by 3.4$σ$, has prompted many authors to build new models to account for this anomaly. Among the various proposals, we find that those mechanisms which produce $t\bar t$ via $t$- or $u$-channel can have a strong correlation to the rare B decays. We demonstrate this link by studying a model with a new charged gauge boson, $W'$. In terms of the current measurements on $B\to πK$ decays, we conclude that the branching ratio for $B^-\to π^- \bar K^0$ is affected most by the new effects. Furthermore, using the world average branching ratio for the exclusive B decays at $2σ$ level, we discuss the allowed values for the new parameters. Finally, we point out that the influence of the new physics effects on the direct CP asymmetry in B decays is insignificant.

With theoretical uncertainties, we find that $B\to (π, η, η')$ form factors at $q^2=0$ are $f^{(π, η, η')}_{+}(0)=(0.245^{+0.000}_{-0.001}\pm 0.011, 0.220 \pm 0.009\pm0.009, 0.180\pm 0.008^{+0.008}_{-0.007})$ for vector current and $f^{(π, η, η')}_{T}(0)=(0.239^{+0.002+0.020}_{-0.003-0.018}, 0.211\pm 0.009^{+0.017}_{-0.015}, 0.173\pm 0.007^{+0.014}_{-0.013})$ for tensor current, respectively. With the obtained $q^2$-dependent $f^π_{+}(q^2)$ and observed branching ratio (BR) for $\bar B_d\to π^+ \ell \bar ν_{\ell}$, the $V_{ub}$ is found as $|V_{ub}|_{LF}= (3.99 \pm 0.13)\times 10^{-3}$. As a result, the predicted BRs for $\bar B\to (η, η') \ell \barν_{\ell}$ decays with $\ell=e,μ$ are given by $(0.49^{+0.02+0.10}_{-0.04- 0.07}, 0.24^{+0.01+0.04}_{-0.02-0.03})\times 10^{-4}$, while the BRs for $D^-\to (η,η')\ell\barν_{\ell}$ are $(11.1^{+0.5+0.9}_{-0.6-0.9}, 1.79^{+0.07+0.12}_{-0.08-0.12})\times 10^{-4}$. In addition, we also study the integrated lepton angular asymmetries for $\bar B\to (π,η,η')τ\barν_τ$:$(0.277^{+0.001+0.005}_{-0.001-0.007},0.290^{+0.002+0.003}_{-0.000-0.003},0.312^{+0.004+0.005}_{-0.000-0.006})$.

Charge and CP asymmetries of $B_q$ meson in unparticle physics

Recently the DØ Collaboration reported an observation of like-sign charge asymmetry (CA), which is about $3.2 σ$ deviation from the standard model (SM) prediction. Inspired by the observation we investigate the scalar unparticle effects, under the color charge of $SU(3)_c$ symmetry, in the CP violation in neutral B meson oscillations as well as the dispersive and absorptive parts of $\bar B_q\leftrightarrow B_q$ transition, which can be related to the CA directly. In order to illustrate the peculiar properties of unparticle, our analysis is carried out in two scenarios for the right-handed section: (I) $λ_R=λ_L$ and $U_D^R=U_D^L$, where $λ_{L,R}$ and $U_D^{L,R}$ are the couplings and flavor mixing matrix of left- and right-handed section, respectively; (II) $λ_R >> λ_L$ and $U_D^R$ is completely a free parameter. In scenario I we found that the wrong- and like-sign CA cannot be changed significantly for a SM-like CP violating source because of the strong constraint of $Δm_{B_d}$. Contrarily, in scenario II we can figure out the parameter space in which the CA can be enhanced to the value observed by DØ with the constraint of $Δm_{B_s}$ due to the enhancement of $Γ^s_{12}$. In the parameter space we obtained, the correlation between $ΔΓ^s$ and $ϕ_s$ is consistent with the current CDF and DØ results.

Double Neutral Higgs production in the Two-Higgs doublet model at the LHC

In this work we study the production and decay of two CP-even Higgs bosons in the general CP-conserving two-Higgs doublet model at the LHC. We also study the limiting case of the decoupling scenario. For each Yukawa version of the model, we look for the region of the parameter space where a signal would be seen at the LHC. Taking into account theoretical and experimental constraints on the two Higgs doublet model parameters, we show that the cross section can be two orders of magnitude above the corresponding Standard Model cross section. We have also studied in detail the decay profile of the Higgs bosons and showed that interesting signatures may emerge for some particular values of the parameters. In some scenarios, specific triple Higgs could be measured.

Forward-backward asymmetry of top quark in diquark models

Motivated by the recent unexpected large forward-backward asymmetry (FBA) of the top quark observed by D$Ø$ and CDF at the Tevatron, we investigate a possible explanation for the anomaly within the framework of diquark models. Unlike other mechanisms induced by s-channel or t-channel, the top-quark pair production in the diquark models is dictated by the u-channel diagram. We find that the color-triplet diquark can generate the FBA of 20% when the constraint from the cross section of the top-quark pair production is taken into account.

Forward-backward asymmetry of top quark in unparticle physics

The updated CDF measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry (FBA) in the top quark production p{bar p} -> t{bar t} at Tevatron (with the CMS energy 1.96 TeV) shows a deviation of 2*sigma from the value predicted by the Standard QCD Model. We present calculation of this quantity in the scenario where colored unparticle physics contributes to the s-channel of the process, and obtain the regions in the plane of the unparticle parameters lambda and dU which give the values of the FBA and of the total t{bar t} production cross section compatible with the present measurements.

Lepton flavor violating tau decays in type-III seesaw mechanism

In this paper, the lepton flavor violating $τ\to \ell P(V)$ ($P,V= π^0, η, η^{\prime}, ρ^0, ω, ϕ$) and $τ\to 3\ell$ ($\ell = e, μ$) decays are studied in the framework of the type-III seesaw model, in which new triplet fermions with a zero hypercharge (Y=0) interact with ordinary lepton doublets via Yukawa couplings, and affect tree-level leptonic Z-boson couplings. We investigate the experimental bound from the leptonic Z decay to get contraint on the exsiting parameters space. We predict that the upper limits on the branching ratios of $τ\to \ell P(V)$ and $τ\to 3\ell$ can reach the experimental current limits.

New charged Higgs effects on $Γ_{K_{e2}}/Γ_{K_{μ2}}$, $f_{D_s}$ and ${\cal B}(B^+\to τ^+ ν)$ in the Two-Higgs-Doublet model

A new scheme for Yukawa matrices is proposed for free of flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) at tree level in general two-Higgs-doublet model (THDM) without imposing symmetry. We find that the new type couplings of charged Higgs to fermions not only depend on the flavors, but also can be ascribed by new CP violating phases. Unlike conventional THDM, the resulted new charged Higgs effects could have the specialties: (a) the influence on $Γ(K^\pm_{e 2})/Γ(K^\pm_{μ2})$ cannot be eliminated, (b) the decay constant of $D_s$ could be enhanced, and (c) enhancement of branching ratio for $B^+\to τ^+ ν$ could be achieved.

Sommerfeld Enhancement from Unparticle Exchange for Dark Matter Annihilation

We investigate the implication of unparticle exchange for the possible Sommerfeld enhancement in dark matter annihilation process. Assuming the unparticle exchange during WIMP collision, we solve the Schr\rm\ddot{o}dinger equation for the effective potential, and find that the Sommerfeld enhancement factor is dictated by the scale dimension of unparticle as 1/v^{3-2d_{\UP}}. Numerically the Sommerfeld enhancement could be {\cal O}(10-10^{3}).

Z-mediated charge and CP asymmetries and FCNCs in $B_{d,s}$ processes

We show model-independently that the negative like-sign charge asymmetry $(-A^b_{s\ell})$ is less than $ 3.16\times 10^{-3}$ when the constraints from the $B_q-\bar B_q$ mixings and the time-dependent CP asymmetries (CPAs) for $B_q\to J/ΨM_q$ with $M_q=K,ϕ$ and $q=d,s$ are taken into account. Although the result is smaller than the measured value by the DØ Collaboration at Fermilab, there is still plenty of room to have new physics, which is sensitive to new CP violating effects, as the standard model (SM) prediction is $(2.3_{-0.5}^{+0.6})\times 10^{-4}$. To illustrate the potential large $|A^{b}_{s\ell}|$, we show the influence of new $SU(2)_L$ singlet exotic quarks in the vector-like quark model, where the $Z$-mediated flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) are generated at tree level. In particular, we demonstrate that (a) the like-sign charge asymmetry could be enhanced by a factor of two in magnitude; (b) the CPA of $\sin2β^{J/Ψϕ}_s$ could reach to $-15%$; (c) the CPA of $\sin2β_{ϕK_S}$ could be higher than $\sin2β_{J/ΨK_S}$ when $|A^b_{s\ell}|$ is larger than the SM prediction; and (d) the branching ratio for $B_s\to μ^+ μ^-$ could be as large as $0.6\times 10^{-8}$.

CP phase of nonuniversal $Z'$ on $\sinϕ^{J/Ψϕ}_s$ and T-odd observables of $\bar B_{q}\to V_{q} \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$

The evidence of a large CP phase has been shown by CDF and DØ collaborations in the time-dependent CP asymmetry (CPA) of $B_s\to J/Ψϕ$ decay, where the nonvanished CPA clearly implies the existence of a non-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase in $b\to s$ transition. We study the new phases originated by the extra family dependent $U(1)'$ model and examine their impact on $\hat{T}$ or CP violating observables in $\bar B_q\to V_q \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ decays with $V_q=K^* (ϕ)$. Adopting the constraints from the current data of $Δm_s$ and the branching ratios for $\bar B_s\to μ^+ μ^-$ and $\bar B_q\to V_q\ell^+ \ell^-$, we find that $ϕ^{J/Ψϕ}_s=-(0.26\pm 0.22)$ and the T-odd observables of above 10% in the decay chain $\bar B_q\to V_q(\to Kπ[KK]) \ell^+ \ell^-$ can be achieved. In addition, we demonstrate that the longitudinal and transverse polarizations of $K^*$ and the up-down asymmetry of $K$ in the same decay chain are also sensitive to the $Z'$-mediated effects.

Impact of colored scalars on $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing in diquark models

Inspired by the recent observation of the $D^0-\bar D^0$ mixing, we explore the effects of colored scalars on the $ΔC=2$ process in diquark models. As an illustration, we investigate the diquarks with the quantum numbers of (6, 1, 1/3) and (6, 1, 4/3) under $SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ gauge symmetries, which contribute to the process at one-loop and tree levels, respectively. We show that $Δm_D$ gives the strongest constraint on the free parameters. In addition, we find that the small couplings can be naturally interpreted by the suppressed flavor mixings if the diquark of (6, 1, 4/3) only couples to the third generation.

Neutrino Masses, Leptogenesis and Decaying Dark Matter

We study a simple extension of the standard model to simultaneously explain neutrino masses, dark matter and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. In our model, the baryon asymmetry is achieved by the leptogenesis mechanism, while the decaying dark matter with the lifetime of O(10^26 s) provides a natural solution to the electron and positron excesses in Fermi and PAMELA satellite experiments. In particular, we emphasize that our model is sensitive to the structure at the endpoint around 1 TeV of the Fermi data. In addition, some of new particles proposed in the model are within the reach at the near future colliders, such as the Large Hadron Collider.

Nonuniversal $Z^{\prime}$ couplings in B decays

We study the impacts of nonuniversal $Z^{\prime}$ model, providing flavor changing neutral current at tree level, on the branching ratios (BRs), CP asymmetries (CPAs) and polarization fractions of B decays. We find that for satisfying the current data, the new left- and right-handed couplings have to be included at the same time. The new introduced effective interactions not only could effectively explain the puzzle of small longitudinal polarization in $B\to K^* ϕ$ decays, but also provide a solution to the small CPA of $B^{\pm}\to π^{0} K^{\pm}$. We also find that the favorable CPA of $B^{\pm}\to π^{0} K^{\pm}$ is opposite in sign to the standard model; meanwhile, the CPA of $B_{d}\to π^{0}K$ has to be smaller than -10%. In addition, by using the values of parameters which are constrained by $B\to πK$, we find that the favorable ranges of BRs, CPAs, longitudinal polarizations, and perpendicular transverse polarizations for $(B^{\pm}\to ρ^{\pm} K^{*}, B_{d}\to ρ^{\mp} K^{*\pm})$ are $(17.1\pm 3.9, 10.0\pm2.0)\times 10^{-6}$, $(3\pm 5, 21\pm 7)%$, $(0.66\pm 0.10, 0.44\pm 0.08)$ and $(0.14\pm 0.10, 0.25\pm 0.09)$, respectively.

Polarizations of two vector mesons in B decays

Inspired by the small longitudinal polarizations (LPs) of $B\to K^* ϕ$ decays observed by BELLE and BABAR, we revise the theoretical uncertainties of perturbative QCD approach for determining hard scales of B decays, we find that the LPs of $B\to K^* ϕ$ could approach to 60% while the branching ratios (BRs) could be around $9\times 10^{-6}$. In addition, we also study the BRs and polarization fractions of $B\to ρ(ω) ρ(ω)$ and $B\to ρ(ω) K^*$ decays. For those tree dominant and color-allowed processes in $B\to ρ(ω) ρ(ω)$ decays, we get that the BRs of $(ρ^{+} ρ^{-}, ρ^{0} ρ^{+}, ωρ^{+})$ are $(23.06, 11.99, 14.78)\times 10^{-6}$ while their LPs are close to unity. Interestingly, due to significant tree contributions, we find that the BR(LP) of $ρ^{-} K^{*+}$ could be around $10.13 \times 10^{-6}(60%)$; and due to the tree and electroweak penguin, the BR(LP) of $ωK^{*+}$ could be around $5.67 \times 10^{-6}(61%)$.

Nonfactorizable contributions to $B$ meson decays into charmonia

We analyze the $B\to (J/ψ, χ_{c0},χ_{c1},η_c)K^{(*)}$ decays, which have small or even vanishing branching ratios in naive factorization assumption (FA). We calculate nonfactorizable corrections to FA in the perturbative QCD approach based on $k_T$ factorization theorem. The charmonium distribution amplitudes are inferred from the non-relativistic heavy quarkonium wave functions. It is found that the nonfactorizable contributions enhance the branching ratios and generate the relative phases among helicity amplitudes of the above modes. Most of the observed branching ratios, polarization fractions, and relative phases, except those of $B\toη_c K$, are explained. Our predictions for the $B\to (χ_{c0},χ_{c1},η_c)K^*$ decays can be compared with future data.

Impact of CP phases on a light sbottom and gluino sector

We study a scenario in which light bottom squarks and light gluinos with masses in the range $2-5.5$ GeV and 12-16 GeV, respectively, can coexist in the MSSM, without being in conflict with flavor-conserving low-energy observables. We find that in such a scenario, the anomalous magnetic moment of a muon could be as large as $10^{-9}$, if the theory conserves CP. However, if the theory violates CP, we conclude that not both, the gluino and bottom squark, can be light at the same time, after the neutron electric dipole moment constraint on Weinberg's 3-gluon operator has been taken into account.

$B\to f_{0}(980) K^{(*)}$ decays and final state interactions

We study the exclusive decays of $B\to f_{0}(980) K^{(*)}$ in the framework of the perturbative QCD by identifying the $f_{0}(980)$ as the composition of $\bar{s} s$ and $\bar{n}n=(\bar{u}u+\bar{d}d)/\sqrt{2}$. We find that the influence of the $\bar{n} n$ content on the predicted branching ratios is crucial. We discuss the possible rescattering and gluonium states which could enhance the branching ratios of considered decays. We point out that the CP asymmetry in $B\to f_{0}(980) K_{S,L}$ could be a new explorer of $\sin2ϕ_{1}$.

Analysis of $B\to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays at large recoil

We study the exclusive decays of $B\to K^{*}\ell^+ \ell^-$ within the framework of the perturbative QCD (PQCD). We obtain the form factors for the $B\to K^{*}$ transition in the large recoil region, where the PQCD for heavy $B$ meson decays is reliable. We find that our results for the form factors at $q^2=0$ are consistent with those from most of the other QCD models in the literature. Via the decay chain of $B\to K^* (Kπ) \ell^+ \ell^-$, we obtain many physical observables related to the different helicity combinations of $B\to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$. In particular, we point out that the T violating effect suppressed in the standard model can be up to $O(10%)$ in some CP violating models with new physics.

Rare kaon decays in SUSY with non-universal A terms

We study the rare kaon decays in the framework of general SUSY models. Unlike the results in the literature, we find the contributions from the gluino exchange to the branching ratio of $K^+\to π^+ ν\barν$ can reach the central value ($\sim 1.5 \times 10^{-10}$) of the new E787 data while the predicted value of standard model is less than $10^{-10}$. We find that the typical scale of the decays is near 1.7 GeV. Baryonic Rare Decays of $Λ_b\to Λ\ell^+\ell^-$

We present a systematic analysis for the rare baryonic exclusive decays of $Λ_b\toΛl^+ l^- (l=e,μ,τ)$. We study the differential decay rates and the di-lepton forward-backward, lepton polarization and various CP asymmetries with a new simple set of form factors inspired by the heavy quark effective theory. We show that most of the observables are insensitive to the non-perturbative QCD effects. Perturbative QCD analysis of $B \to ϕK$ decays and Power counting

We investigate exclusive nonleptonic $B$ meson decays $B\toϕK$ in perturbative QCD formalism. It is shown that the end-point (logarithmic and linear) singularities in decay amplitudes do not exist, after $k_T$ and threshold resummations are included. Power counting for emission and annihilation topologies of diagrams, including both factorizable and nonfactorizable ones, is discussed with Sudakov effects taken into account. Our predictions for the branching ratios $B(B\toϕK)\sim 10 \times 10^{-6}$ are larger than those ($\sim 4 \times 10^{-6}$) from the factorization approach because of dynamical enhancement of penguin contributions. Whether this enhancement is essential for penguin-dominated modes can be justified by experimental data.
