Center of mass motion in bag model

Despite the great success on the mass spectra, the reputation of the bag model has been closely followed by the embarrassment from the center of mass motion. It leads to severe theoretical inconsistencies. For instance, the masses and the decay constants would no longer be independent of the momentum. In this work, we provide a systematical approach to resolve this problem. The meson decay constants as well as the baryon transition form factors can be computed consistently in our framework. Notably, the form factors in the neutron $β$ decays do not depend on any free parameters, and are determined to be $F^V_1 =1 $ and $F^A_1 = 1.31$ or $F_1^A/F_1^V= 1.31$, which is close the experimental value of $F^A_1/F^V_1 = 1.27$. In addition, we find that ${\cal B} (Λ_b \to Λγ) = (6.8 \pm 3.3 ) \times 10^{-6} $, which agrees to the experimental value of $(7.1\pm 1.7)\times 10^{-6}$.

New extraction of CP violation in b-baryon decays

We study CP violation in b-baryon decays of $Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^- D$ with $D = D^0, \bar{D}^0$ and $D_i~(i=1,2)$. We find that these baryonic decay processes provide an ideal opportunity to measure the weak phase due to the absence of the relative strong phase. Explicitly, we relate $\barρ$ and $\barη$ the CKM elements with the decay rate ratios of $R_i= Γ(Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^-D_{i} ) / Γ( Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^-D^0 )$ without the charge conjugate states. As a complementary, we also examine the decay distributions of $Λ_b \to Λ(\to p π^- ) D$. There are in total 32 decay observables, which can be parameterized by 9 real parameters, allowing the experiments to extract the angle $γ\equiv \arg(-V_{ud}V_{ub}^*/V_{cd}V_{cb}^*)$ in the CKM unitarity triangle. In addition, the feasibilities of the experimental measurements are discussed. We find that $\barρ$ and $\barη$ can be extracted at LHCb Run3 from $Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^- D$, and a full analysis of $Λ_b \to Λ(\to p π^-)D$ is available at LHCb Run4.

Sizable Time-reversal violating effects in bottom baryon decays

We study time-reversal~(T) asymmetries in the charmless two-body decays of antitriplet bottom baryons. We find that in ${\bf B}_b \to {\bf B}_n P$ with ${\bf B}_b = (Ξ_b ^- , \,Ξ_b^0, \,Λ_b)$ and ${\bf B}_n(P)$ a octet baryon (pseudoscalar meson), the positive and negative helicity amplitudes are both sizable, resulting in the large T-violating effects. Particularly, the T-odd parameters, $β_w$, for the color-enhanced channels are expected to be around $40\%$ and $-25\%$ in $b\to s $ and $b\to d $ transitions for the standard model, which can be measured by the experiments at LHCb, respectively. On the other hand, in ${\bf B}_b \to {\bf B}_n V(γ)$ with $V(γ)$ a vector meson~(photon), the decays are predominated by a single helicity amplitude, and the T violating effects by the correlations among spins are suppressed. We also explore the T violating observables for the $Ξ_b$ decays based on the angular distributions.

Study of charmless two-body baryonic $B$ decays

We study the charmless two-body decays of $B\to {\bf B}_n \overline{\bf B}_n^\prime$ with $B = ( B^+ , B^0 , B^0_s)$ and ${\bf B}_n^{(\prime)}$ the low-lying octet baryons. The factorizable amplitudes are calculated by the modified bag model, while the nonfactorizable ones are extracted from the experimental data with the $SU(3)_F$ flavor symmetry. We are able to explain all current experimental measurements and provide predictions on the decay branching ratios in $B\to {\bf B}_n \overline{\bf B}_n^\prime$. Particularly, we find that ${\cal B}(B_s^0 \to Ξ^0 \overlineΞ^0) = (19.3\pm 2.7 )\times 10^{-7}$ and ${\cal B}(B_s^0 \to Ξ^- \overlineΞ^-) = (19.4\pm 2.7 )\times 10^{-7}$, which are sizable and able to be observed in the ongoing experiments at LHCb and BELLE-II. Furthermore, the decay branching ratios of $B_s^0 \to (p\overline{p}, n\overline{n})$ and $B^0 \to (Ξ^0 \overlineΞ^0 ,Σ^+\overlineΣ^+)$ are expected to be $O(10^{-10})$, which are suppressed due to the angular momentum conservation and chiral symmetry.

Unitarity Bounds on the Massive Spin-2 Particle Explanation of Muon $g-2$ Anomaly

Motivated by the long-standing discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and the experimental measurement of the muon magnetic dipole moment, we have recently proposed to interpret this muon $g-2$ anomaly in terms of the loop effect induced by a new massive spin-2 field $G$. In the present paper, we investigate the unitarity bounds on this scenario. We calculate the $s$-wave projected amplitudes for two-body elastic scatterings of charged leptons and photons mediated by $G$ at high energies for all possible initial and final helicity states. By imposing the condition of the perturbative unitarity, we obtain the analytic constraints on the charged-lepton-$G$ and photon-$G$ couplings. We then apply our results to constrain the parameter space relevant to the explanation of the muon $g-2$ anomaly.

Weak Radiative Decays of Anti-triplet Bottomed Baryons in Light-Front Quark Model

We study the weak radiative decays of ${\bf B}_b \to {\bf B}_n γ$ with ${\bf B}_{b(n)} $ the anti-triplet-bottom (octet) baryons in the light front quark model. We obtain that ${\cal B}(Λ_b \to Λγ)= (7.1 \pm 0.3 )\times 10 ^{-6}$, which agrees well with the current experimental value of $(7.1 \pm 1.7 )\times 10 ^{-6}$. We predict that ${\cal B}(Ξ_b^0 \to Ξ^0 γ)= (1.0 \pm 0.1 )\times 10 ^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(Ξ_b^- \to Ξ^- γ) = (1.1 \pm 0.1) \times 10^{-5}$, which are consistent with the latest upper limits set by the LHCb collaboration. In addition, we find that the $SU(3)_F$ flavor symmetry breaking effects for the modes related to the $b\to d γ$ transition can be as large as $20\%$.

Cosmological Constraints on Non-flat Exponential $f(R)$ Gravity

We explore the viable $f(R)$ gravity models in FLRW backgrounds with a free spatial curvature parameter $Ω_{K}$. In our numerical calculation, we concentrate on the exponential $f(R)$ model of $f(R) = R - λR_{ch}(1-\exp{(-R/R_{ch}}))$, where $R_{ch}$ is the characteristic curvature scale, which is independent of $Ω_K$, and $λ$ corresponds to the model parameter, while $R_{ch}λ=2Λ$ with $Λ$ the cosmological constant. In particular, we study the evolutions of the dark energy density and equation of state for exponential $f(R)$ gravity in open, flat and closed universe, and compare with those for $Λ$CDM. From the current observational data, we find that $λ^{-1}=0.42927^{+0.39921}_{-0.32927}$ at 68$\%$ C.L and $Ω_K=-0.00050^{+0.00420}_{-0.00414}$ at 95$\%$ C.L. in the exponential $f(R)$ model. By using Akaike information criterion (AIC), Bayesian information criterion (BIC) and Deviance Information Criterion (DIC), we conclude that there is no strong preference between the exponential $f(R)$ gravity and $Λ$CDM models in the non-flat universe.

Constraints on a special running vacuum model

We study a special running vacuum model (RVM) with $Λ= 3 αH^2+3βH_0^4 H^{-2}+Λ_0$, where $α$, $β$ and $Λ_0$ are the model parameters and $H$ is the Hubble one. This RVM has non-analytic background solutions for the energy densities of matter and radiation, which can only be evaluated numerically. From the analysis of the CMB power spectrum and baryon acoustic oscillation along with the prior of $α>0$ to avoid having a negative dark energy density, we find that $α<2.83\times 10^{-4}$ and $β=(-0.2^{+3.9}_{-4.5})\times 10^{-4}$ (95$\%$ C.L.). We show that the RVM fits the cosmological data comparably to the $Λ$CDM. In addition, we relate the fluctuation amplitude $σ_8$ to the neutrino mass sum $Σm_ν$.

Inverse-Chirp Imprint of Gravitational Wave Signals in Scalar Tensor Theory

The scalar tensor theory contains a coupling function connecting the quantities in the Jordan and Einstein frames, which is constrained to guarantee a transformation rule between frames. We simulate the supernovae core collapse with different choices of coupling functions defined over the viable region of the parameter space and find that a generic inverse-chirp feature of the gravitational waves in the scalar tensor scenario.

Modified Cosmology Models from Thermodynamical Approach

We apply the first law of thermodynamics to the apparent horizon of the universe with the power-law corrected and non-extensive Tsallis entropies rather than the Bekenstein-Hawking one. We examine the cosmological properties in the two entropy models by using the CosmoMC package. In particular, the first numerical study for the cosmological observables with the power-law corrected entropy is performed. We also show that the neutrino mass sum has a non-zero central value with a relaxed upper bound in the Tsallis entropy model comparing with that in the $Λ$CDM one.

Multicomponent Dark Matter in the Light of CALET and DAMPE

In the light of the latest measurements on the total $e^+ + e^-$ flux by CALET and DAMPE experiments, we revisit the multicomponent leptonically decaying dark matter (DM) explanations to the cosmic-ray electron/positron excesses observed previously. Especially, we use the single and double-component DM models to explore the compatibility of the AMS-02 positron fraction with the new CALET or DAMPE data. It turns out that neither single nor double-component DM models are able to fit the AMS-02 positron fraction and DAMPE total $e^+ + e^-$ flux data simultaneously. On the other hand, for the combined AMS-02 and CALET dataset, both the single and double-component DM models can provide reasonable fits. If we further take into the diffuse $γ$-ray constraints from Fermi-LAT, only the double-component DM models are allowed.

Nonleptonic two-body weak decays of $Λ_b$ in modified MIT bag model

We study the nonleptonic two-body weak decays of $Λ_b$ by modifying the MIT bag model without introducing new parameters to construct the momentum eigenstates of the baryons. We find that the branching ratios of $Λ_b^0 \to Λ_c^+ π^-$, $Λ_c^+ K^-$, $p π^-$ and $pK^-$ are $(4.5\pm0.2)\times 10^{-3}$, $(3.4\pm 0.1)\times 10^{-4}$, $(5.0\pm 0.5)\times 10^{-6}$ and $(6.0\pm 0.7) \times 10^{-6}$, which are all well consistent with the current experimental data, respectively. We also explore P and CP asymmetries for the decays of $Λ_b^0 \to p (π^-,K^-)$. In particular, we obtain that the direct CP-violating rate asymmetries in $Λ_b^0 \to p π^-$ and $Λ_b^0 \to p K^-$ are around $-4.4\%$ and $6.7\%$, in comparison with $(-2.5\pm2.9)\%$ and $(-2.5\pm2.2)\%$ from the Particle Data Group in 2020, respectively.

Reducing the $H_{0}$ tension with generalized Proca theory

We investigate the cosmological viability of the generalized proca theory. We first implement the background and linear perturbation equations of motion in the Boltzmann code and then study the constraints on the parameters of the generalized proca theory after running MCMC against the cosmological data set. With Planck + HST data, we obtain the constraint $h=0.7334_{-0.0269}^{+0.0246}$, which indicates that the tension between early universe and late time universe within this theory is removed. By adding other late-time data sets (BAO, RSD, etc.) we show that the tension is reduced, as the 2$σ$ allowed region for $h$ in Proca, $h=0.7041_{-0.0087}^{+0.0094}$, overlaps with the 2$σ$ region of the HST data.

Viable Constraint on Scalar Field in Scalar-Tensor Theory

The scalar-tensor theory can be formulated in both Jordan and Einstein frames, which are conformally related together with a redefinition of the scalar field. As the solution to the equation of the scalar field in the Jordan frame does not have the one-to-one correspondence with that in the Einstein frame, we give a criterion along with some specific models to check if the scalar field in the Einstein frame is viable or not by confirming whether this field is reversible back to the Jordan frame. We further show that the criterion in the first parameterized post-Newtonian approximation can be determined by the parameters of the osculating approximation of the coupling function in the Einstein frame and can be treated as a viable constraint on any numerical study in the scalar-tensor scenario. We also demonstrate that the Brans-Dicke theory with an infinite constant parameter $ω_{\text{BD}}$ is a counterexample of the equivalence between two conformal frames due to the violation of the viable constraint.

Deflation of the cosmological constant associated with inflation and dark energy

In order to solve the fine-tuning problem of the cosmological constant, we propose a simple model with the vacuum energy non-minimally coupled to the inflaton field. In this model, the vacuum energy decays to the inflaton during pre-inflation and inflation eras, so that the cosmological constant effectively deflates from the Planck mass scale to a much smaller one after inflation and plays the role of dark energy in the late-time of the universe. We show that our deflationary scenario is applicable to arbitrary slow-roll inflation models. We also take two specific inflation potentials to illustrate our results.

Direct Detection of Exothermic Dark Matter with Light Mediator

We study the dark matter (DM) direct detection for the models with the effects of the isospin-violating couplings, exothermic scatterings, and/or the lightness of the mediator, proposed to relax the tension between the CDMS-Si signals and null experiments. In the light of the new updates of the LUX and CDMSlite data, we find that many of the previous proposals are now ruled out, including the Ge-phobic exothermic DM model and the Xe-phobic DM one with a light mediator. We also examine the exothermic DM models with a light mediator but without the isospin violation, and we are unable to identify any available parameter space that could simultaneously satisfy all the experiments. The only models that can partially relax the inconsistencies are the Xe-phobic exothermic DM models with or without a light mediator. But even in this case, a large portion of the CDMS-Si regions of interest has been constrained by the LUX and SuperCDMS data.

Matter density perturbation and power spectrum in running vacuum model

We investigate the matter density perturbation $δ_m$ and power spectrum $P(k)$ in the running vacuum model (RVM) with the cosmological constant being a function of the Hubble parameter, given by $Λ= Λ_0 + 6 σH H_0+ 3νH^2$, in which the linear and quadratic terms of $H$ would originate from the QCD vacuum condensation and cosmological renormalization group, respectively. Taking the dark energy perturbation into consideration, we derive the evolution equation for $δ_m$ and find a specific scale $d_{cr}=2 π/k_{cr}$, which divides the evolution of the universe into the sub and super-interaction regimes, corresponding to $k \ll k_{cr}$ and $k \gg k_{cr}$, respectively. For the former, the evolution of $δ_m$ has the same behavior as that in the $Λ$CDM model, while for the latter, the growth of $δ_m$ is frozen (greatly enhanced) when $ν+ σ>(<)0$ due to the couplings between radiation, matter and dark energy. It is clear that the observational data rule out the cases with $ν<0$ and $ν+ σ<0$, while the allowed window for the model parameters is extremely narrow with $ν, |σ| \lesssim \mathcal{O}(10^{-7})$.

Note on Spin-2 Particle Interpretation of the 750~GeV Diphoton Excess

We explore the possibility to explain the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently measured by ATLAS and CMS collaborations in terms of a massive spin-2 particle. In particular, we consider the case in which the top-quark loops can give the similar amplitudes as the tree-level contributions to the diphoton and digluon channels. Such a scenario can be naturally realized in the generalized warped extra dimension models. As a result, the parameter space favored by the diphoton data implies that the top-quark loop contribution can compete to and even dominate over the tree-level amplitude in the spin-2 particle production via the gluon-gluon fusion process. Similar results are obtained for the case in which the spin-2 particle induces large invisible decay branching ratios, as indicated by the ATLAS data.

Observational constraints on varying neutrino-mass cosmology

We consider generic models of quintessence and we investigate the influence of massive neutrino matter with field-dependent masses on the matter power spectrum. In case of minimally coupled neutrino matter, we examine the effect in tracker models with inverse power-law and double exponential potentials. We present detailed investigations for the scaling field with a steep exponential potential, non-minimally coupled to massive neutrino matter, and we derive constraints on field-dependent neutrino masses from the observational data.

Running cosmological constant with observational tests

We investigate the running cosmological constant model with dark energy linearly proportional to the Hubble parameter, $Λ= σH + Λ_0$, in which the $Λ$CDM limit is recovered by taking $σ=0$. We derive the linear perturbation equations of gravity under the Friedmann-Lemaïtre-Robertson-Walker cosmology, and show the power spectra of the CMB temperature and matter density distribution. By using the Markov chain Monte Carlo method, we fit the model to the current observational data and find that $σH_0/ Λ_0 \lesssim 2.63 \times 10^{-2}$ and $6.74 \times 10^{-2}$ for $Λ(t)$ coupled to matter and radiation-matter, respectively, along with constraints on other cosmological parameters.

Some heavy vector and tensor meson decay constants in light-front quark model

We study the decay constants ($f_M$) of the heavy vector ($D^{*}$, $D^{*}_{s}$, $B^{*}$, $B^{*}_{s}$, $B^{*}_{c}$) and tensor ($D_{2}^{*}$, $D_{s2}^{*}$, $B^{*}_{2}$, $B^{*}_{s2}$) mesons in the light front quark model. With the known pseudoscalar meson decay constants of $f_D$, $f_{D_s}$, $f_B$, $f_{B_s}$, and $f_{B_c}$ as the input parameters to determine the light-front meson wave functions, we obtain that $f_{D^{*}, D^{*}_{s}, B^{*},B^{*}_s,B^{*}_c} = (252.0^{+13.8}_{-11.6}$, $318.3^{+15.3}_{-12.6}$ , $201.9^{+43.2}_{-41.4}$, $244.2\pm7.0$, $473.4\pm18.2$) and $(264.9^{+10.2}_{-9.5}$, $330.9^{+9.9}_{-9.0}$, $220.2^{+49.1}_{-46.2}$, $265.7\pm8.0$, $487.6\pm19.2$) MeV with Gaussian and power-law wave functions, respectively, while $f_{D_{2}^{*},D_{s2}^{*},B^{*}_{2},B^{*}_{s2}}$= ($143.6^{+24.9}_{-21.8}$, $209.5^{+29.1}_{-24.2}$, $80.9^{+33.8}_{-27.7}$, $109.7^{+15.7}_{-15.0}$) MeV with only Gaussian wave functions.

Comment on "A three-loop radiative neutrino mass model with dark matter" [Phys. Lett. B 741 (2015) 163]

We revisit the calculation of the three-loop diagrams for the radiative neutrino mass generation and consider some relevant constraints on the model recently proposed by L. Jin {\it et al} [Phys. Lett. B 741 (2015) 163]. We find that the previous approximation is inappropriate due to the neglect of some important contributions, and the benchmark point proposed can neither give rise to enough neutrino masses nor accommodate these additional constraints, such as the validity of the perturbation theory, the electroweak precision measurements, and the neutrinoless double beta decays.

Connecting Neutrino Masses and Dark Matter by High-dimensional Lepton Number Violation Operator

We propose a new model with the Majorana neutrino masses generated at two-loop level, in which the lepton number violation (LNV) processes, such as neutrinoless double beta decays, are mainly induced by the dimension-7 LNV effective operator O_7=\bar l_R^c γ^μL_L(D_mu Φ) ΦΦ. Note that it is necessary to impose an Z_2 symmetry in order that O_7 dominates over the conventional dimension-5 Weinberg operator, which naturally results in a stable Z_2-odd neutral particle to be the cold dark matter candidate. More interestingly, due to the non-trivial dependence of the charged lepton masses, the model predicts the neutrino mass matrix to be in the form of the normal hierarchy. We also focus on a specific parameter region of great phenomenological interests, such as electroweak precision tests, dark matter direct searches along with its relic abundance, and lepton flavor violation processes.

Constraints on a $ϕ$CDM model from strong gravitational lensing and updated Hubble parameter measurements

We constrain the scalar field dark energy model with an inverse power-law potential, i.e., $V(ϕ)\propto ϕ^{-α}$ ($α>0$), from a set of recent cosmological observations by compiling an updated sample of Hubble parameter measurements including 30 independent data points. Our results show that the constraining power of the updated sample of $H(z)$ data with the HST prior on $H_0$ is stronger than those of the SCP Union2 and Union2.1 compilations. A recent sample of strong gravitational lensing systems is also adopted to confine the model even though the results are not significant. A joint analysis of the strong gravitational lensing data with the more restrictive updated Hubble parameter measurements and the Type Ia supernovae data from SCP Union2 indicates that the recent observations still can not distinguish whether dark energy is a time-independent cosmological constant or a time-varying dynamical component.

Constraints on the Combined Models with $R^{2-q}$ Inflation and Viable $f(R)$ Dark Energy

We investigate the observational constraints on the modified gravity, which combines the $R^{2-q}$ inflation with the power-law (exponential) type of the viable $f(R)$ dark energy models. We discuss the difference between the combined model and $R^{2-q}$ gravity in the inflationary epoch and obtain the constraints on the deviation power $q$ as well as the parameters in $f(R)$ by using the CosmoMC package. The allowed ranges of the spectral index and tensor-to-scalar ratio from the Planck data are highly restricted, resulting in $q < 2.66 \times 10^{-2}$ and $2.17 \times 10^{-2}$ for the power-law and exponential types of $f(R)$ gravity, respectively.

Constraints on the exponential $f(R)$ model from latest Hubble parameter measurements

We investigate the viable exponential $f(R)$ gravity in the metric formalism with $f(R)=-βR_s (1-e^{-R/R_s})$. The latest sample of the Hubble parameter measurements with 23 data points is used to place bounds on this $f(R)$ model. A joint analysis is also performed with the luminosity distances of Type Ia supernovae and baryon acoustic oscillations in the clustering of galaxies, and the shift parameters from the cosmic microwave background measurements, which leads to $0.240<Ω_m^0<0.296$ and $β>1.47$ at 1$σ$ confidence level. The evolutions of the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ and the effective equations of state $ω_{de}^{eff}(z)$ and $ω_{tot}^{eff}(z)$ are displayed. By taking the best-fit parameters as prior values, we work out the transition redshift (deceleration/acceleration) $z_T$ to be about 0.77. It turns out that the recent observations are still unable to distinguish the background dynamics in the $Λ$CDM and exponential $f(R)$ models.

Constraints on the septet-doublet mixing models from oblique parameters

The limitations of the doublet-septet mixing models by the deviations of electroweak oblique parameters $ΔS$ and $ΔT$ are studied. In the minimal model, the mixture of the septet $η$ and the scalar doublet in the standard model (SM) is driven by a non-Hermitian dimension-7 operator. For a smaller bare mass of the septet, $ΔS$ gives a stringent constraint on the mixing angle $\sinβ$ between the CP-odd neutral parts of the SM Higgs doublet and $η$. In general, increasing the mass of the scalar septet $M_η$ will enhance the deviation of $T$ from the SM, whereas it decreases the magnitude of $ΔS$ for a larger bare mass within the range $M_η\lesssim 400\,{\rm GeV}$. We also examine two extended models from the ordinary doublet-septet mixture pattern. One of them is based on a inert doublet-septet mixing pattern, in which there is no vacuum expectation value for the neutral component of $η$, and a stable dark matter could naturally exist. For a benchmark point with this inner doublet mass of $M_χ=250{\rm}$ and $M_η=400\,{\rm GeV}$ in this model, the mixing coefficient is found to be less than $1.8$. The other extension is constructed by imposing a doubly charged scalar mixed with the doubly charged component of the septet. Apart from the contribution by the septet-doublet admixture, $ΔS$ is suppressed by a factor of $s_W^2$ and $ΔT$ has a significant constraint due to the vanishing vacuum polarization of $Z$ at the momentum transfer $p^2=0$.

CP Violation in Predictive Neutrino Mass Structures

We study the CP violation effects from two types of neutrino mass matrices with (i) $(M_ν)_{ee}=0$, and (ii) $(M_ν)_{ee}=(M_ν)_{eμ}=0$, which can be realized by the high dimensional lepton number violating operators $\bar \ell_R^cγ^μL_L (D_μΦ)Φ^2$ and $\bar \ell_R^c l_R (D_μΦ)^2Φ^2$, respectively. In (i), the neutrino mass spectrum is in the normal ordering with the lightest neutrino mass within the range $0.002\,{\rm eV}\lesssim m_0\lesssim 0.007\,{\rm eV}$. Furthermore, for a given value of $m_0$, there are two solutions for the two Majorana phases $α_{21}$ and $α_{31}$, whereas the Dirac phase $δ$ is arbitrary. For (ii), the parameters of $m_0$, $δ$, $α_{21}$, and $α_{31}$ can be completely determined. We calculate the CP violating asymmetries in neutrino-antineutrino oscillations for both mass textures of (i) and (ii), which are closely related to the CP violating Majorana phases.

Quintessential inflation with canonical and noncanonical scalar fields and Planck 2015 results

We investigate two classes of models of quintessential inflation, based upon canonical as well as noncanonical scalar fields. In particular, introducing potentials steeper than the standard exponential, we construct models that can give rise to a successful inflationary phase, with signatures consistent with Planck 2015 results. Additionally, using nonminimal coupling of the scalar field with massive neutrino matter, we obtain the standard thermal history of the Universe, with late-time cosmic acceleration as the last stage of evolution. In both cases, inflation and late-time acceleration are connected by a tracker solution.

Revisiting Multi-Component Dark Matter with New AMS-02 Data

We revisit the multi-component leptonically decaying dark matter (DM) scenario to explain the possible electron/positron excesses with the recently updated AMS-02 data. We find that both the single- and two-component DM models can fit the positron fraction and $e^+/e^-$ respective fluxes, in which the two-component ones provide better fits. However, for the single-component models, the recent AMS-02 data on the positron fraction limit the DM cutoff to be smaller than 1 TeV, which conflicts with the high-energy behavior of the AMS-02 total $e^++e^-$ flux spectrum, while the two-component DM models do not possess such a problem. We also discuss the constraints from the Fermi-LAT measurement of the diffuse $γ$-ray spectrum. We show that the two-component DM models are consistent with the current DM lifetime bounds. In contrast, the best-fit DM lifetimes in the single-component models are actually excluded.

Study of Two-Loop Neutrino Mass Generation Models

We study the models with the Majorana neutrino masses generated radiatively by two-loop diagrams due to the Yukawa $ρ\bar \ell_R^c \ell_R$ and effective $ρ^{\pm\pm} W^\mp W^\mp$ couplings along with a scalar triplet $Δ$, where $ρ$ is a doubly charged singlet scalar, $\ell_R$ the charged lepton and $W$ the charged gauge boson. A generic feature in these types of models is that the neutrino mass spectrum has to be a normal hierarchy. Furthermore, by using the neutrino oscillation data and comparing with the global fitting result in the literature, we find a unique neutrino mass matrix and predict the Dirac and two Majorana CP phases to be $1.40π$, $1.11π$ and $1.47π$, respectively. We also discuss the model parameters constrained by the lepton flavor violating processes and electroweak oblique parameters. In addition, we show that the rate of the neutrinoless double beta decay $(0νββ)$ can be as large as the current experimental bound as it is dominated by the short-range contribution at tree level, whereas the traditional long-range one is negligible.

Correlation Between Muon $g-2$ and $μ\rightarrow{e}γ$

While the muon $g-2$ anomaly can be successfully explained by some new physics models, most of them are severely constrained by the $μ\to e γ$ bound. This tension is more transparent from the effective field theory perspective, in which the two phenomena are encoded in two very similar operators. However, with the ${\cal O}(1)$ Wilson coefficients, the current upper bound on $μ\to e γ$ indicates a new-physics cutoff scale five orders smaller than that needed to eliminate the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly. By summarizing all the formulae from the one-loop contributions to the muon $g-2$ with the internal-particle spin not larger than 1, we point out two general methods to reconcile the conflict between the muon $g-2$ and $μ\to e γ$: the GIM mechanism and the non-universal couplings. For the latter method, we use a simple scalar leptoquark model as an illustration.

Cosmic Ray Excesses from Multi-component Dark Matter Decays

We use multi-component decaying dark matter (DM) scenario to explain the possible cosmic ray excesses in the positron fraction recently confirmed by AMS-02 and the total $e^+ +e^-$ flux observed by Fermi-LAT. In the two-component DM models, we find an interesting variation of the flavor structure along with the cutoff of the heavy DM. For the three-component DM case, we focus on a particular parameter range in which the best fits prefer to open only 2 DM decay channels with a third DM contributing nothing to the electron and positron spectra. We show that all models give the reasonable fits to both the AMS-02 positron fraction and the Fermi-LAT total $e^++e^-$ flux, which are also consistent with the measured diffuse $γ$-ray flux by Fermi-LAT.

Dark radiation from a unified dark fluid model

We present a unified dark fluid model to describe the possible evolutionary behavior of $ΔN_\mathrm{eff}$ in dark radiation. This model can be viewed as an interacting model for the dark sectors, in which dark matter interacts with dark radiation. We show that the evolution of $ΔN_\mathrm{eff}$ can be nicely explained without some drawbacks, such as the blowup of $ΔN_\mathrm{eff}$ and the non-vanishing interaction at the late time.

Imprint of Multi-component Dark Matter on AMS-02

The multi-component decaying dark matter (DM) scenario is investigated to explain the possible excesses in the positron fraction by PAMELA and recently confirmed by AMS-02, and in the total $e^+ +e^-$ flux observed by Fermi-LAT. By performing the $χ^2$ fits, we find that two DM components are already enough to give a reasonable fit of both AMS-02 and Fermi-LAT data. The best-fitted results show that the heavier DM component with its mass 1.5 TeV dominantly decays through the $μ$-channel, while the lighter one of 100 GeV mainly through the $τ$-channel. As a byproduct, the fine structure around 100 GeV observed by AMS-02 and Fermi-LAT can be naturally explained by the dropping due to the lighter DM component. With the obtained model parameters by the fitting, we calculate the diffuse $γ$-ray emission spectrum in this two-component DM scenario, and find that it is consistent with the data measured by Fermi-LAT. We also construct a microscopic particle DM model to naturally realize the two-component DM scenario, and point out an interesting neutrino signal which is possible to be measured in the near future by IceCube.

Kaluza-Klein theory for teleparallel gravity

We study teleparallel gravity in the \emph{original} Kaluza-Klein (KK) scenario. Our calculation of the KK reduction of teleparallel gravity indicates that the 5-dimensional torsion scalar $^{(5)}T$ generates the non-Brans-Dicke type effective Lagrangian in 4-dimension due to an additional coupling between the derivative of the scalar field and torsion, but the result is equivalent to that in general relativity. We also discuss the cosmological behavior in the FLRW universe based on the effective teleparallel gravity.

Loop-induced Neutrino Masses: A Case Study

We study the cocktail model in which the Majorana neutrino masses are generated by the so-called "cocktail" three-loop diagrams with the dark matter particle running in the loops. In particular, we give the correct analytic expressions of the neutrino masses in the model by the detailed calculation of the cocktail diagrams. Based on the reliable numerical calculation of the loop integrals, we explore the parameter space which can give the correct orders of neutrino masses while satisfying other experimental constraints, such as those from the neutrinoless double beta decay, low-energy lepton flavor violation processes, electroweak precision tests, and collider searches. As a result, the large couplings and the large mass difference between the two singly-charged (neutral) scalars are required.

Matter Power Spectra in Viable $f(R)$ Gravity Models with Massive Neutrinos

We investigate the matter power spectra in the power law and exponential types of viable $f(R)$ theories along with massive neutrinos. The enhancement of the matter power spectrum is found to be a generic feature in these models. In particular, we show that in the former type, such as the Starobinsky model, the spectrum is magnified much larger than the latter one, such as the exponential model. A greater scale of the total neutrino mass, $Σm_ν$, is allowed in the viable $f(R)$ models than that in the $Λ$CDM one. We obtain the constraints on the neutrino masses by using the CosmoMC package with the modified MGCAMB. Explicitly, we get $Σm_ν < 0.451 \ (0.214)\ \mathrm{eV}$ at 95% C.L. in the Starobinsky (exponential) model, while the corresponding one for the $Λ$CDM model is $Σm_ν < 0.200\ \mathrm{eV}$. Furthermore, by treating the effective number of neutrino species $N_{\mathrm{eff}}$ as a free parameter along with $Σm_ν$, we find that $N_{\mathrm{eff}} = 3.78^{+0.64}_{-0.84} (3.47^{+0.74}_{-0.60})$ and $Σm_ν = 0.533^{+0.254}_{-0.411}$ ($< 0.386) \ \mathrm{eV}$ at 95% C.L. in the Starobinsky (exponential) model.

Parametrized Post-Newtonian Limit of Teleparallel Dark Energy Model

We study the post-Newtonian limit in the teleparallel equivalent of General Relativity with a scalar field which non-minimally couples to gravity. The metric perturbation is obtained from the vierbein field expansion with respect to the Minkowski background. Due to the structure of the teleparallel gravity Lagrangian, the potential of the scalar field shows no effect to the parametrized post-Newtonian parameters, and compatible results with Solar System observations are found.

Semi-dileptonic decays of the light vector mesons in Light Front Quark Model

We study the transition form factors of the light vector to pseudoscalar mesons as functions of the momentum transfer $q^2$ within the light-front quark model. With these form factors, we calculate the decay branching ratios of all possible modes for $V\to P\ell^+\ell^-$ ($V=ω$ and $ϕ$, $P=π^0$, $η$ and $η^{\prime}$ and $\ell=e$ and $μ$). We find that our numerical results fit with the data, such as those of $ω\to π^0 \ell^+\ell^-$ and $ϕ\to π^0 e^+e^-$ by NA60 and $ϕ\toηe^+e^-$ by SND. We also predict that the branching ratios of $ϕ\to π^0 μ^+μ^-$, $ω\to ηe^+e^-$, $ω\to ημ^+μ^-$, $ϕ\to ημ^+μ^-$ and $ϕ\to η^{\prime} e^+e^-$ to be aroud $3.48\times 10^{-6}$, $3.22\times 10^{-6}$, $1.81\times 10^{-9}$, $6.86\times 10^{-6}$ $2.97\times 10^{-7}$, respectively.

We study teleparallel gravity in five-dimensional spacetime with particular discussions on Kaluza-Klein (KK) and braneworld theories. We directly perform the dimensional reduction by differential forms. In the braneworld theory, the teleparallel gravity formalism in the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmology is equivalent to GR due to the same Friedmann equation, whereas in the KK case the reduction of our formulation does not recover the effect as GR of 4-dimensional spacetime.

X-ray Line from the Dark Transition Electric Dipole

We study a two-component dark matter (DM) model in which the two Majorana fermionic DM components with nearly degenerate masses are stabilized by an $Z_2$ symmetry and interact with the right-handed muon and tau only via real Yukawa couplings, together with an additional $Z_2$-odd singly-charged scalar. In this setup, the decay from the heavy DM to the lighter one via the transition electric dipole yields the 3.55 keV X-ray signal observed recently. The Yukawa couplings in the dark sector are assumed to be hierarchical, so that the observed DM relic abundance can be achieved with the leading s-wave amplitudes without a fine-tuning. We also consider the constraints from flavor physics, DM direct detections and collider searches, respectively.

Asymptotic Cosmological Behavior of Scalar-Torsion Mode in Poincare Gauge Theory

We study the cosmological effect of the simple scalar-torsion ($0^+$) mode in Poincaré gauge theory of gravity. We find that for the non-constant (affine) curvature case, the early evolution of the torsion density $ρ_T$ has a radiation-like asymptotic behavior of $a^{-4}$ with $a$ representing the scale factor, along with the stable point of the torsion pressure ($P_T$) and density ratio $P_T/ρ_T\rightarrow 1/3$ in the high redshift regime $(z \gg 0)$, which is different from the previous result in the literature. We use the Laurent expansion to resolve the solution. We also illustrate our result by the execution of numerical computations.

Correlation of $h\rightarrowγγ$ and $Zγ$ in Type-II seesaw neutrino model

We study the charged scalar contributions to the Higgs decay channels of $h\rightarrow γγ$ and $h\rightarrow Zγ$ in the Type-II seesaw neutrino model. In most of the allowed parameter space in the model, the new contribution to $h\rightarrow Zγ$ is positively correlated with that to $h\rightarrowγγ$. If the current excess of the $h\rightarrow γγ$ rate measured by the ATLAS Collaboration persists, the $h\rightarrow Zγ$ rate should be also larger than the corresponding standard model prediction. We demonstrate that the anti-correlation between $h\rightarrowγγ$ and $h\rightarrow Zγ$ only exists in some special region.

We find that the propagating degrees of freedom are the same as in quintessence cosmology despite that variables of the perturbed vierbein field are greater than those in metric theories. We numerically show some evident discrepancy from general relativity in the evolutions of the perturbations on all scales of the universe. We also demonstrate that the gravitational interactions are enhanced during the unique tracker evolutions in these models.

Large-scale magnetic fields from inflation in teleparallel gravity

Generation of large-scale magnetic fields in inflationary cosmology is studied in teleparallelism, where instead of the scalar curvature in general relativity, the torsion scalar describes the gravity theory. In particular, we investigate a coupling of the electromagnetic field to the torsion scalar during inflation, which leads to the breaking of conformal invariance of the electromagnetic field. We demonstrate that for a power-law type coupling, the current magnetic field strength of $\sim 10^{-9}$ G on 1 Mpc scale can be generated, if the backreaction effects and strong coupling problem are not taken into consideration.

Multi high charged scalars in the LHC searches and Majorana neutrino mass generations

One natural way to understand the excess of the measured $H\toγγ$ rate over the standard model (SM) expectation at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is to have charged scalar bosons, existing in most of the SM extensions. Motivated by this LHC result, we explore if it also sheds light on solving the small neutrino mass generation problem. We concentrate on a class of models with high dimensional representations of scalars to realize Majorana neutrino masses at two-loop level without imposing any new symmetry. In these models, multi scalars with the electric charges higher than two are naturally expected, which not only enhance the $H\toγγ$ rate, but provide more searching grounds at the LHC. In particular, the rate of $H\to Zγ$ also changes similar to that of the diphoton channel.

New Scalar Contributions to $h\to Zγ$

We calculate the Higgs decay rate of $h\to Zγ$ by including the contributions from new scalars with arbitrary quantum numbers of the weak isospin ($T$) and hypercharge ($Y$) in the standard model. We find that our general formula for the decay rate of $h\to Zγ$ matches with that for $h\to γγ$ in the limit of $m_Z=0$, but it is different from those in the literature. To illustrate our result, by taking the current $2σ$ excess of the $h\to γγ$ rate measured by the LHC, we examine the corresponding shift for the $Zγ$ decay channel due to the new scalar. We show that the enhancement or reduction of the $h\to Zγ$ rate only depends on the relative size of $T$ and the absolute value of $Y$. Explicitly, we predict $0.76<R_{Zγ}\equiv Γ(h\to Zγ)/Γ_{SM}(h\to Zγ)<2.05$ by imposing the observed range of $1.5<R_{γγ}\equiv Γ(h\to Zγγ)/Γ_{SM}(h\toγγ)<2$, which is independent of the number of multiplets and the couplings to the Higgs particle as long as the scalars are heavier than 200 GeV. This result provides a clear signature for the future LHC measurements to test physics beyond the standard model.

Note on 125 GeV Spin-2 particle

A new boson around 125 GeV without specific spin has been observed by both ATLAS and CMS at the LHC. Since its decay into a diphoton excludes the spin-1 case by the Landau-Yang theorem,it leaves 0 or 2 as the possible lowest spin for the new boson. Instead of the well-established spin-0 Higgs-like boson, we take this new boson to be a spin-2 massive Graviton-like particle denoted as $G$, which exists copiously in extra-dimension theories, and concentrate on its phenomenology. In particular, we calculate the three-body decays of $G\rightarrow V f\bar{f}'$ with $V$ and $f^{(\prime)}$ the gauge boson and fermions in the standard model (SM) and compare our results with those of the SM Higgs boson. The couplings between $G$ and $V$s are also estimated by fitting the data. A new observable that can distinguish $G$ from the Higgs is proposed.

Singularity Problem in Teleparallel Dark Energy Models

We study future singularity in teleparallel dark energy models, particularly its behavior and its (non)occurrence in the observationally viable models. For the models with a general self-potential of the scalar field, we point out that both at early times and in the future near the singularity the behavior of dark energy can be described by the analytic solutions of the scalar field we obtained for the model with no self-potential. As to the (non)occurrence in the viable models, we consider a natural binding-type self-potential, the quadratic potential, when fitting observational data, and illustrate the constraining region up to the $3σ$ confidence level as well as the region where a singularity will occur. As a result, the singularity region is outside the $3σ$ constraint. Thus, although the future singularity problem potentially exists in teleparallel dark energy models, the observationally viable models may not suffer this problem.

CP violation in $D^0 \to (K^- K^+, π^- π^+)$ from diquarks

The explanation of the large CP asymmetries in $D^0\to (π^+π^-, K^+K^-)$ decays observed by the LHCb collaboration is likely to call for new physics beyond the CKM paradigm. We explore new contributions caused by the color-sextet scalar diquark, and demonstrate that the diquark with the mass of order 1 TeV and nominal couplings with quarks can generate the CP asymmetries at the percent level. Using the experimental data on branching ratios and CP asymmetries of $D^0\to (π^+π^-, K^+K^-)$, we derive the constraints on the diquark mass and couplings, which can be further examined on hadron colliders in the dijet final states.

Matter Density Perturbations in Modified Teleparallel Theories

We study the matter density perturbations in modified teleparallel gravity theories, where extra degrees of freedom arise from the local Lorentz violation in the tangent space. We formulate a vierbein perturbation with variables addressing all the 16 components of the vierbein field. By assuming the perfect fluid matter source, we examine the cosmological implication of the 6 unfamiliar new degrees of freedom in modified $f(T)$ gravity theories. Scalar-Torsion Mode in a Cosmological Model of the Poincaré Gauge Theory of Gravity

We investigate the equation of state (EoS) of the scalar-torsion mode in Poincaré gauge theory of gravity. We concentrate on two cases with the constant curvature solution and positive kinetic energy, respectively. In the former, we find that the torsion EoS has different values in the various stages of the universe. In particular, it behaves like the radiation (matter) EoS of $w_r=1/3$ ($w_m=0$) in the radiation (matter) dominant epoch, while in the late time the torsion density is supportive for the accelerating universe. In the latter, our numerical analysis shows that in general the EoS has an asymptotic behavior in the high redshift regime, while it could cross the phantom divide line in the low redshift regime.

Teleparallel Dark Energy with Purely Non-minimal Coupling to Gravity

We propose the simplest model of teleparallel dark energy with purely a non-minimal coupling to gravity but no self-potential, a single model possessing various interesting features: simplicity, self-potential-free, the guaranteed late-time cosmic acceleration driven by the non-minimal coupling to gravity, tracker behavior of the dark energy equation of state at earlier times, a crossing of the phantom divide at a late time, and the existence of a finite-time future singularity. We find the analytic solutions of the dark-energy scalar field respectively in the radiation, matter, and dark energy dominated eras, thereby revealing the above features. We further illustrate possible cosmic evolution patterns and present the observational constraint of this model obtained by numerical analysis and data fitting.

"Teleparallel" Dark Energy

Using the "teleparallel" equivalent of General Relativity as the gravitational sector, which is based on torsion instead of curvature, we add a canonical scalar field, allowing for a nonminimal coupling with gravity. Although the minimal case is completely equivalent to standard quintessence, the nonminimal scenario has a richer structure, exhibiting quintessence-like or phantom-like behavior, or experiencing the phantom-divide crossing. The richer structure is manifested in the absence of a conformal transformation to an equivalent minimally-coupled model.

We study the cosmological evolutions of the equation of state for dark energy $w_{\mathrm{DE}}$ in the exponential and logarithmic as well as their combination $f(T)$ theories. We show that the crossing of the phantom divide line of $w_{\mathrm{DE}} = -1$ can be realized in the combined $f(T)$ theory even though it cannot be in the exponential or logarithmic $f(T)$ theory. In particular, the crossing is from $w_{\mathrm{DE}} > -1$ to $w_{\mathrm{DE}} < -1$, in the opposite manner from $f(R)$ gravity models. We also demonstrate that this feature is favored by the recent observational data.

Finite quantum corrections to the tribimaximal neutrino mixing

We calculate finite quantum corrections to the tribimaximal neutrino mixing pattern V_TB in three generic classes of neutrino mass models. We show that three flavor mixing angles can all depart from their tree-level results described by V_TB, among which θ_12 is most sensitive to such quantum effects, and the Dirac CP-violating phase can radiatively arise from two Majorana CP-violating phases. This theoretical scheme offers a new way to understand why θ_13 is naturally small and how three CP-violating phases are presumably correlated.

Gravitational Waves in Viable f(R) Models

We study gravitational waves in viable $f(R)$ theories under a non-zero background curvature. In general, an $f(R)$ theory contains an extra scalar degree of freedom corresponding to a massive scalar mode of gravitational wave. For viable $f(R)$ models, since there always exits a de-Sitter point where the background curvature in vacuum is non-zero, the mass squared of the scalar mode of gravitational wave is about the de-Sitter point curvature $R_{d}\sim10^{-66}eV^{2}$. We illustrate our results in two types of viable $f(R)$ models: the exponential gravity and Starobinsky models. In both cases, the mass will be in the order of $10^{-33}eV$ when it propagates in vacuum. However, in the presence of matter density in galaxy, the scalar mode can be heavy. Explicitly, in the exponential gravity model, the mass becomes almost infinity, implying the disappearance of the scalar mode of gravitational wave, while the Starobinsky model gives the lowest mass around $10^{-24}eV$, corresponding to the lowest frequency of $10^{-9}$ Hz, which may be detected by the current and future gravitational wave probes, such as LISA and ASTROD-GW.

Thermodynamics in Modified Gravity Theories

We demonstrate that there does exist an equilibrium description of thermodynamics on the apparent horizon in the expanding cosmological background for a wide class of modified gravity theories with the Lagrangian density $f(R, ϕ, X)$, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar and $X$ is the kinetic energy of a scalar field $ϕ$. This comes from a suitable definition of an energy momentum tensor of the "dark" component obeying the local energy conservation law in the Jordan frame. It is shown that the equilibrium description in terms of the horizon entropy $S$ is convenient because it takes into account the contribution of the horizon entropy $\hat{S}$ in non-equilibrium thermodynamics as well as an entropy production term.

Cosmological evolution in exponential gravity

We summarize various viability conditions and explicitly demonstrate that the late-time cosmic acceleration following the matter-dominated stage can be realized. We also study the equation of state for dark energy and confirm that the crossing of the phantom divide from the phantom phase to the non-phantom (quintessence) one can occur. Equilibrium thermodynamics in modified gravitational theories

We show that it is possible to obtain a picture of equilibrium thermodynamics on the apparent horizon in the expanding cosmological background for a wide class of modified gravity theories with the Lagrangian density $f(R, ϕ, X)$, where $R$ is the Ricci scalar and $X$ is the kinetic energy of a scalar field $ϕ$. This comes from a suitable definition of an energy momentum tensor of the "dark" component that respects to a local energy conservation in the Jordan frame. In this framework the horizon entropy $S$ corresponding to equilibrium thermodynamics is equal to a quarter of the horizon area $A$ in units of gravitational constant $G$, as in Einstein gravity. For a flat cosmological background with a decreasing Hubble parameter, $S$ globally increases with time, as it happens for viable $f(R)$ inflation and dark energy models. We also show that the equilibrium description in terms of the horizon entropy $S$ is convenient because it takes into account the contribution of both the horizon entropy $\hat{S}$ in non-equilibrium thermodynamics and an entropy production term.

We also explore the future evolution of the cosmological horizon entropy and illustrate that the cosmological horizon entropy oscillates with time due to the oscillatory behavior of the Hubble parameter. The important cosmological consequence is that in the future, the sign of the time derivative of the Hubble parameter changes from negative to positive in these viable $f(R)$ gravity models.

Z-mediated charge and CP asymmetries and FCNCs in $B_{d,s}$ processes

We show model-independently that the negative like-sign charge asymmetry $(-A^b_{s\ell})$ is less than $ 3.16\times 10^{-3}$ when the constraints from the $B_q-\bar B_q$ mixings and the time-dependent CP asymmetries (CPAs) for $B_q\to J/ΨM_q$ with $M_q=K,ϕ$ and $q=d,s$ are taken into account. Although the result is smaller than the measured value by the DØ Collaboration at Fermilab, there is still plenty of room to have new physics, which is sensitive to new CP violating effects, as the standard model (SM) prediction is $(2.3_{-0.5}^{+0.6})\times 10^{-4}$. To illustrate the potential large $|A^{b}_{s\ell}|$, we show the influence of new $SU(2)_L$ singlet exotic quarks in the vector-like quark model, where the $Z$-mediated flavor changing neutral currents (FCNCs) are generated at tree level. In particular, we demonstrate that (a) the like-sign charge asymmetry could be enhanced by a factor of two in magnitude; (b) the CPA of $\sin2β^{J/Ψϕ}_s$ could reach to $-15%$; (c) the CPA of $\sin2β_{ϕK_S}$ could be higher than $\sin2β_{J/ΨK_S}$ when $|A^b_{s\ell}|$ is larger than the SM prediction; and (d) the branching ratio for $B_s\to μ^+ μ^-$ could be as large as $0.6\times 10^{-8}$.

Crossing of the phantom divide in modified gravity

We reconstruct an explicit model of modified gravity in which a crossing of the phantom divide can be realized. It is shown that the (finite-time) Big Rip singularity appears in the model of modified gravity (i.e., in the so-called Jordan frame), whereas that in the corresponding scalar field theory obtained through the conformal transformation (i.e., in the so-called Einstein frame) the singularity becomes the infinite-time one. Furthermore, we investigate the relations between the scalar field theories with realizing a crossing of the phantom divide and the corresponding modified gravitational theories by using the inverse conformal transformation. It is demonstrated that the scalar field theories describing the non-phantom phase (phantom one with the Big Rip) can be represented as the theories of real (complex) $F(R)$ gravity through the inverse (complex) conformal transformation. We also study a viable model of modified gravity in which the transition from the de Sitter universe to the phantom phase can occur. In addition, we explore the stability for the obtained solutions of the crossing of the phantom divide under a quantum correction coming from conformal anomaly.

Equivalence of modified gravity equation to the Clausius relation

We explicitly show that the equations of motion for modified gravity theories of $F(R)$-gravity, the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, $F(\mathcal{G})$-gravity and the non-local gravity are equivalent to the Clausius relation in thermodynamics. In addition, we discuss the relation between the expression of the entropy and the contribution from the modified gravity as well as the matter to the definition of the energy flux (heat).

Neutrino Masses, Leptogenesis and Decaying Dark Matter

We study a simple extension of the standard model to simultaneously explain neutrino masses, dark matter and the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. In our model, the baryon asymmetry is achieved by the leptogenesis mechanism, while the decaying dark matter with the lifetime of O(10^26 s) provides a natural solution to the electron and positron excesses in Fermi and PAMELA satellite experiments. In particular, we emphasize that our model is sensitive to the structure at the endpoint around 1 TeV of the Fermi data. In addition, some of new particles proposed in the model are within the reach at the near future colliders, such as the Large Hadron Collider.
