Deformations and homotopy of Rota-Baxter operators and $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Lie algebras

This article gives a brief introduction to some recent work on deformation and homotopy theories of Rota-Baxter operators and more generally $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Lie algebras, by means of the differential graded Lie algebra approach. It is further shown that these theories lift the existing connection between $\mathcal{O}$-operators and pre-Lie algebras to the levels of deformations and homotopy.

Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras, classical Yang-Baxter equations and special L-dendriform bialgebras

We establish a bialgebra structure on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras following the Manin triple approach to Lie bialgebras. Explicitly, Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras are characterized by generalizing matched pairs of Lie algebras and Manin triples of Lie algebras to the context of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras. The coboundary case leads to the introduction of the admissible classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) in Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, for which the antisymmetric solutions give rise to Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebras. The notions of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and Rota-Baxter pre-Lie algebras are introduced to produce antisymmetric solutions of the admissible CYBE. Furthermore, extending the well-known property that a Rota-Baxter Lie algebra of weight zero induces a pre-Lie algebra, the Rota-Baxter Lie bialgebra of weight zero induces a bialgebra structure of independent interest, namely the special L-dendriform bialgebra, which is equivalent to a Lie group with a left-invariant flat pseudo-metric in geometry. This induction is also characterized as the inductions between the corresponding Manin triples and matched pairs. Finally, antisymmetric solutions of the admissible CYBE in a Rota-Baxter Lie algebra of weight zero give special L-dendriform bialgebras. In particular, both Rota-Baxter algebras of weight zero and Rota-Baxter pre-Lie algebras of weight zero can be used to construct special L-dendriform algebras.

Admissible Poisson bialgebras

An admissible Poisson algebra (or briefly, an adm-Poisson algebra) gives an equivalent presentation with only one operation for a Poisson algebra. We establish a bialgebra theory for adm-Poisson algebras independently and systematically, including but beyond the corresponding results on Poisson bialgebras given in [27]. Explicitly, we introduce the notion of adm-Poisson bialgebras which are equivalent to Manin triples of adm-Poisson algebras as well as Poisson bialgebras. The direct correspondence between adm-Poisson bialgebras with one comultiplication and Poisson bialgebras with one cocommutative and one anti-cocommutative comultiplications generalizes and illustrates the polarization-depolarization process in the context of bialgebras. The study of a special class of adm-Poisson bialgebras which include the known coboundary Poisson bialgebras in [27] as a proper subclass in general, illustrating an advantage in terms of the presentation with one operation, leads to the introduction of adm-Poisson Yang-Baxter equation in an adm-Poisson algebra. It is an unexpected consequence that both the adm-Poisson Yang-Baxter equation and the associative Yang-Baxter equation have the same form and thus it motivates and simplifies the involved study from the study of the associative Yang-Baxter equation, which is another advantage in terms of the presentation with one operation. A skew-symmetric solution of adm-Poisson Yang-Baxter equation gives an adm-Poisson bialgebra. Finally the notions of an $\mathcal O$-operator of an adm-Poisson algebra and a pre-adm-Poisson algebra are introduced to construct skew-symmetric solutions of adm-Poisson Yang-Baxter equation and hence adm-Poisson bialgebras. Note that a pre-adm-Poisson algebra gives an equivalent presentation for a pre-Poisson algebra introduced by Aguiar.

On antisymmetric infinitesimal conformal bialgebras

In this paper, we construct a bialgebra theory for associative conformal algebras, namely antisymmetric infinitesimal conformal bialgebras. On the one hand, it is an attempt to give conformal structures for antisymmetric infinitesimal bialgebras. On the other hand, under certain conditions, such structures are equivalent to double constructions of Frobenius conformal algebras, which are associative conformal algebras that are decomposed into the direct sum of another associative conformal algebra and its conformal dual as $\mathbb{C}[\partial]$-modules such that both of them are subalgebras and the natural conformal bilinear form is invariant. The coboundary case leads to the introduction of associative conformal Yang-Baxter equation whose antisymmetric solutions give antisymmetric infinitesimal conformal bialgebras. Moreover, the construction of antisymmetric solutions of associative conformal Yang-Baxter equation is given from $\mathcal{O}$-operators of associative conformal algebras as well as dendriform conformal algebras.

F-manifold algebras and deformation quantization via pre-Lie algebras

The notion of an F-manifold algebra is the underlying algebraic structure of an $F$-manifold. We introduce the notion of pre-Lie formal deformations of commutative associative algebras and show that F-manifold algebras are the corresponding semi-classical limits. We study pre-Lie infinitesimal deformations and extension of pre-Lie n-deformation to pre-Lie (n+1)-deformation of a commutative associative algebra through the cohomology groups of pre-Lie algebras. We introduce the notions of pre-F-manifold algebras and dual pre-F-manifold algebras, and show that a pre-F-manifold algebra gives rise to an F-manifold algebra through the sub-adjacent associative algebra and the sub-adjacent Lie algebra. We use Rota-Baxter operators, more generally O-operators and average operators on F-manifold algebras to construct pre-F-manifold algebras and dual pre-F-manifold algebras.

Noncommutative Poisson bialgebras

In this paper, we introduce the notion of a noncommutative Poisson bialgebra, and establish the equivalence between matched pairs, Manin triples and noncommutative Poisson bialgebras. Using quasi-representations and the corresponding cohomology theory of noncommutative Poisson algebras, we study coboundary noncommutative Poisson bialgebras which leads to the introduction of the Poisson Yang-Baxter equation. A skew-symmetric solution of the Poisson Yang-Baxter equation naturally gives a (coboundary) noncommutative Poisson bialgebra. Rota-Baxter operators, more generally O-operators on noncommutative Poisson algebras, and noncommutative pre-Poisson algebras are introduced, by which we construct skew-symmetric solutions of the Poisson Yang-Baxter equation in some special noncommutative Poisson algebras obtained from these structures.

On quadri-bialgebras

We introduce the notion of a quadri-bialgebra, which gives a bialgebra theory for the quadri-algebra introduced by Aguiar and Loday. We show that a quadri-bialgebra is equivalent to a Manin triple of dendriform algebras associated to a nondegenerate 2-cocycle, and to a Manin triple of quadri-algebras associated to a nondegenerate invariant bilinear form. Quadri-bialgebras also come from a variation of the classical Yang-Baxter equation, called the $Q$-equations. Moreover, quadri-bialgebras fit into the framework of construction of Rota-Baxter operators and Nijenhuis operators on the double spaces of quadri-algebras.

Conformal classical Yang-Baxter equation, $S$-equation and $\mathcal{O}$-operators

Conformal classical Yang-Baxter equation and $S$-equation naturally appear in the study of Lie conformal bialgebras and left-symmetric conformal bialgebras. In this paper, they are interpreted in terms of a kind of operators, namely, $\mathcal O$-operators in the conformal sense. Explicitly, the skew-symmetric part of a conformal linear map $T$ where $T_0=T_λ\mid_{λ=0}$ is an $\mathcal O$-operator in the conformal sense is a skew-symmetric solution of conformal classical Yang-Baxter equation, whereas the symmetric part is a symmetric solution of conformal $S$-equation. One byproduct is that a finite left-symmetric conformal algebra which is a free $\mathbb{C}[\partial]$-module gives a natural $\mathcal O$-operator and hence there is a construction of solutions of conformal classical Yang-Baxter equation and conformal $S$-equation from the former. Another byproduct is that the non-degenerate solutions of these two equations correspond to 2-cocycles of Lie conformal algebras and left-symmetric conformal algebras respectively. We also give a further study on a special class of $\mathcal{O}$-operators called Rota-Baxter operators on Lie conformal algebras and some explicit examples are presented.

Deformations and their controlling cohomologies of $\mathcal{O}$-operators

$\mathcal{O}$-operators are important in broad areas in mathematics and physics, such as integrable systems, the classical Yang-Baxter equation, pre-Lie algebras and splitting of operads. In this paper, a deformation theory of $\mathcal{O}$-operators is established in consistence with the general principles of deformation theories. On the one hand, $\mathcal{O}$-operators are shown to be characterized as the Maurer-Cartan elements in a suitable graded Lie algebra. A given $\mathcal{O}$-operator gives rise to a differential graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize deformations of the given $\mathcal{O}$-operator. On the other hand, a Lie algebra with a representation is identified from an $\mathcal{O}$-operator $T$ such that the corresponding Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology controls deformations of $T$, thus can be regarded as an analogue of the André-Quillen cohomology for the $\mathcal{O}$-operator. Thereafter, infinitesimal and formal deformations of $\mathcal{O}$-operators are studied. In particular, the notion of Nijenhuis elements is introduced to characterize trivial infinitesimal deformations. Formal deformations and extendibility of order $n$ deformations of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator are also characterized in terms of the new cohomology theory. Applications are given to deformations of Rota-Baxter operators of weight 0 and skew-symmetric $r$-matrices for the classical Yang-Baxter equation. For skew-symmetric $r$-matrices, there is an independent Maurer-Cartan characterization of the deformations as well as an analogue of the André-Quillen cohomology controlling the deformations, which turn out to be equivalent to the ones obtained as $\mathcal{O}$-operators associated to the coadjoint representations. Finally, infinitesimal deformations of skew-symmetric $r$-matrices and their corresponding triangular Lie bialgebras are studied.

Nijenhuis operators on pre-Lie algebras

First we use a new approach to give a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize pre-Lie algebra structures. Then using this graded Lie bracket we define the notion of a Nijenhuis operator on a pre-Lie algebra which generates a trivial deformation of this pre-Lie algebra. There are close relationships between O-operators, Rota-Baxter operators and Nijenhuis operators on a pre-Lie algebra. In particular, a Nijenhuis operator "connects" two O-operators on a pre-Lie algebra whose any linear combination is still an O-operator in certain sense and hence compatible L-dendriform algebras appear naturally as the induced algebraic structures. For the case of the dual representation of the regular representation of a pre-Lie algebra, there is a geometric interpretation by introducing the notion of a pseudo-Hessian-Nijenhuis structure which gives rise to a sequence of pseudo-Hessian and pseudo-Hessian-Nijenhuis structures. Another application of Nijenhuis operators on pre-Lie algebras in geometry is illustrated by introducing the notion of a para-complex structure on a pre-Lie algebra and then studying paracomplex quadratic pre-Lie algebras and paracomplex pseudo-Hessian pre-Lie algebras in detail. Finally, we give some examples of Nijenhuis operators on pre-Lie algebras.

Bialgebras, the classical Yang-Baxter equation and Manin triples for 3-Lie algebras

This paper studies two types of 3-Lie bialgebras whose compatibility conditions between the multiplication and comultiplication are given by local cocycles and double constructions respectively, and are therefore called the local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra and the double construction 3-Lie bialgebra. They can be regarded as suitable extensions of the well-known Lie bialgebra in the context of 3-Lie algebras, in two different directions. The local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra is introduced to extend the connection between Lie bialgebras and the classical Yang-Baxter equation. Its relationship with a ternary variation of the classical Yang-Baxter equation, called the 3-Lie classical Yang-Baxter equation, a ternary $\mathcal{O}$-operator and a 3-pre-Lie algebra is established. In particular, it is shown that solutions of the 3-Lie classical Yang-Baxter equation give (coboundary) local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebras, whereas 3-pre-Lie algebras give rise to solutions of the 3-Lie classical Yang-Baxter equation. The double construction 3-Lie bialgebra is introduced to extend to the 3-Lie algebra context the connection between Lie bialgebras and double constructions of Lie algebras. Their related Manin triples give a natural construction of pseudo-metric 3-Lie algebras with neutral signature. Moreover, the double construction 3-Lie bialgebra can be regarded as a special class of the local cocycle 3-Lie bialgebra. Explicit examples of double construction 3-Lie bialgebras are provided.

Totally compatible associative and Lie dialgebras, tridendriform algebras and PostLie algebras

This paper studies the concepts of a totally compatible dialgebra and a totally compatible Lie dialgebra, defined to be a vector space with two binary operations that satisfy individual and mixed associativity conditions and Lie algebra conditions respectively. We show that totally compatible dialgebras are closely related to bimodule algebras and semi-homomorphisms. More significantly, Rota-Baxter operators on totally compatible dialgebras provide a uniform framework to generalize known results that Rota-Baxter related operators give tridendriform algebras. Free totally compatible dialgebras are constructed. We also show that a Rota-Baxter operator on a totally compatible Lie dialgebra gives rise to a PostLie algebra, generalizing the fact that a Rota-Baxter operator on a Lie algebra gives rise to a PostLie algebra.

$ϕ_ε$-coordinated modules for vertex algebras

We study $ϕ_ε$-coordinated modules for vertex algebras, where $ϕ_ε$ with $ε$ an integer parameter is a family of associates of the one-dimensional additive formal group. As the main results, we obtain a Jacobi type identity and a commutator formula for $ϕ_ε$-coordinated modules. We then use these results to study $ϕ_ε$-coordinated modules for vertex algebras associated to Novikov algebras by Primc.

Generalizations of the classical Yang-Baxter equation and O-operators

Tensor solutions ($r$-matrices) of the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE) in a Lie algebra, obtained as the classical limit of the $R$-matrix solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (QYBE), is an important structure appearing in different areas such as integrable systems, symplectic geometry, quantum groups and quantum field theory. Further study of CYBE led to its interpretation as certain operators, giving rise to the concept of O-operators. In [3], the O-operators were in turn interpreted as tensor solutions of CYBE by enlarging the Lie algebra. The purpose of this paper is to extend this study to a more general class of operators that were recently introduced [4] in the study of Lax pairs in integrable systems. Relationship between $\calo$-operators, relative differential operators and Rota-Baxter operators are also discussed.

Generalized Bell states and principal realization of the Yangian Y(sl_N)

We prove that the action of the Yangian algebra Y(sl_N) is better described by the principal generators on the tensor product of the fundamental representation and its dual. The generalized Bell states or maximally entangled states are permuted by the principal generators in a dramatically simple manner on the tensor product. Under the Yangian symmetry the new quantum number J^2 is also explicitly computed, which gives an explanation for these maximally entangled states.

Left-symmetric algebroids

In this paper, we introduce a notion of a left-symmetric algebroid, which is a generalization of a left-symmetric algebra from a vector space to a vector bundle. The left multiplication gives rise to a representation of the corresponding sub-adjacent Lie algebroid. We construct left-symmetric algebroids from $\mathcal O$-operators on Lie algebroids. We study phase spaces of Lie algebroids in terms of left-symmetric algebroids. Representations of left-symmetric algebroids are studied in detail. At last, we study deformations of left-symmetric algebroids, which could be controlled by the second cohomology class in the deformation cohomology.

Replicating of binary operads, Koszul duality, Manin products and average operators

We consider the notions of the replicators, including the duplicator and triplicator, of a binary operad. As in the closely related notions of di-Var-algebra and tri-Var-algebra in [14], they provide a general operadic definition for the recent constructions of replicating the operations of algebraic structures. We show that taking replicators is in Koszul dual to taking successors in [3] for binary quadratic operads and is equivalent to taking the white product with certain operads such as Perm. We also relate the replicators to the actions of average operators.

Rota-Baxter operators on $sl(2,C)$ and solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation

We explicitly determine all Rota-Baxter operators (of weight zero) on $sl(2,C)$ under the Cartan-Weyl basis. For the skew-symmetric operators, we give the corresponding skew-symmetric solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in $sl(2,C)$, confirming the related study by Semenov-Tian-Shansky. In general, these Rota-Baxter operators give a family of solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in the 6-dimensional Lie algebra $sl(2,C) \ltimes_{{\rm ad}^{\ast}} sl(2,C)^{\ast}$. They also give rise to 3-dimensional pre-Lie algebras which in turn yield solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in other 6-dimensional Lie algebras.

The category and operad of matching dialgebras

This paper gives a systematic study of matching dialgebras corresponding to the operad $As^{(2)}$ in \cite{Zi} as the only Koszul self dual operad there other than the operads of associative algebras and Poisson algebras. The close relationship of matching dialgebras with semi-homomorphisms and matched pairs of associative algebras are established. By anti-symmetrizing, matching dialgerbas are also shown to give compatible Lie algebras, pre-Lie algebras and PostLie algebras. By the rewriting method, the operad of matching dialgebras is shown to be Koszul and the free objects are constructed in terms of tensor algebras. The operadic complex computing the homology of the matching dialgebras is made explicit.

L-quadri-algebras

Quadri-algebras introduced by Aguiar and Loday are a class of remarkable Loday algebras. In this paper, we introduce a notion of L-quadri-algebra with 4 operations satisfying certain generalized left-symmetry, as a Lie algebraic analogue of quadri-algebra such that the commutator of the sum of the 4 operations is a Lie algebra. Any quadri-algebra is an L-quadri-algebra. Moreover, L-quadri-algebras fit into the framework of the relationships between Loday algebras and their Lie algebraic analogues, extending the well known fact that the commutator of an associative algebra is a Lie algebra. We also give the close relationships between L-quadri-algebras and some interesting structures like Rota-Baxter operators, classical Yang-Baxter equation, some bilinear forms satisfying certain conditions.

PostLie algebra structures on the Lie algebra sl(2,C)

The PostLie algebra is an enriched structure of the Lie algebra that has recently arisen from operadic study. It is closely related to pre-Lie algebra, Rota-Baxter algebra, dendriform trialgebra, modified classical Yang-Baxter equations and integrable systems. We give a complete classification of PostLie algebra structures on the Lie algebra sl(2,C) up to isomorphism. We first reduce the classification problem to solving an equation of 3 x 3 matrices. To solve the latter problem, we make use of the classification of complex symmetric matrices up to the congruent action of orthogonal groups.

Some results on L-dendriform algebras

We introduce a notion of L-dendriform algebra due to several different motivations. L-dendriform algebras are regarded as the underlying algebraic structures of pseudo-Hessian structures on Lie groups and the algebraic structures behind the $\mathcal O$-operators of pre-Lie algebras and the related $S$-equation. As a direct consequence, they provide some explicit solutions of $S$-equation in certain pre-Lie algebras constructed from L-dendriform algebras. They also fit into a bigger framework as Lie algebraic analogues of dendriform algebras. Moreover, we introduce a notion of $\mathcal O$-operator of an L-dendriform algebra which gives an algebraic equation regarded as an analogue of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in a Lie algebra.

Splitting of operations, Manin products and Rota-Baxter operators

This paper provides a general operadic definition for the notion of splitting the operations of algebraic structures. This construction is proved to be equivalent to some Manin products of operads and it is shown to be closely related to Rota-Baxter operators. Hence, it gives a new effective way to compute Manin black products. The present construction is shown to have symmetry properties. Finally, this allows us to describe the algebraic structure of square matrices with coefficients in algebras of certain types. Many examples illustrate this text, including the case of Jordan algebras.

An operator approach to the rational solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation

Motivated by the study of the operator forms of the constant classical Yang-Baxter equation given by Semonov-Tian-Shansky, Kupershmidt and the others, we try to construct the rational solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation with parameters by certain linear operators. The fact that the rational solutions of the CYBE for the simple complex Lie algebras can be interpreted in term of certain linear operators motivates us to give the notion of $\mathcal O$-operators such that these linear operators are the $\mathcal O$-operators associated to the adjoint representations. Such a study can be generalized to the Lie algebras with nondegenerate symmetric invariant bilinear forms. Furthermore we give a construction of a rational solution of the CYBE from an $\mathcal O$-operator associated to the coadjoint representation and an arbitrary representation with a trivial product in the representation space respectively.

Double constructions of Frobenius algebras, Connes cocycles and their duality

We construct an associative algebra with a decomposition into the direct sum of the underlying vector spaces of another associative algebra and its dual space such that both of them are subalgebras and the natural symmetric bilinear form is invariant or the natural antisymmetric bilinear form is a Connes cocycle. The former is called a double construction of Frobenius algebra and the latter is called a double construction of Connes cocycle which is interpreted in terms of dendriform algebras. Both of them are equivalent to a kind of bialgebras, namely, antisymmetric infinitesimal bialgebras and dendriform D-bialgebras respectively. In the coboundary cases, our study leads to what we call associative Yang-Baxter equation in an associative algebra and $D$-equation in a dendriform algebra respectively, which are analogues of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in a Lie algebra. We show that an antisymmetric solution of associative Yang-Baxter equation corresponds to the antisymmetric part of a certain operator called ${\mathcal O}$-operator which gives a double construction of Frobenius algebra, whereas a symmetric solution of $D$-equation corresponds to the symmetric part of an ${\mathcal O}$-operator which gives a double construction of Connes cocycle. By comparing antisymmetric infinitesimal bialgebras and dendriform D-bialgebras, we observe that there is a clear analogy between them. Due to the correspondences between certain symmetries and antisymmetries appearing in the analogy, we regard it as a kind of duality.

O-operators on associative algebras and dendriform algebras

An O-operator is a relative version of a Rota-Baxter operator and, in the Lie algebra context, is originated from the operator form of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We generalize the well-known construction of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras from Rota-Baxter algebras to a construction from O-operators. We then show that this construction from O-operators gives all dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. Furthermore there are bijections between certain equivalence classes of invertible O-operators and certain equivalence classes of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras.

Special symplectic Lie groups and hypersymplectic Lie groups

A special symplectic Lie group is a triple $(G,ω,\nabla)$ such that $G$ is a finite-dimensional real Lie group and $ω$ is a left invariant symplectic form on $G$ which is parallel with respect to a left invariant affine structure $\nabla$. In this paper starting from a special symplectic Lie group we show how to ``deform" the standard Lie group structure on the (co)tangent bundle through the left invariant affine structure $\nabla$ such that the resulting Lie group admits families of left invariant hypersymplectic structures and thus becomes a hypersymplectic Lie group. We consider the affine cotangent extension problem and then introduce notions of post-affine structure and post-left-symmetric algebra which is the underlying algebraic structure of a special symplectic Lie algebra. Furthermore, we give a kind of double extensions of special symplectic Lie groups in terms of post-left-symmetric algebras.

${\mathcal O}$-operators of Loday algebras and analogues of the classical Yang-Baxter equation

We introduce notions of ${\mathcal O}$-operators of the Loday algebras including the dendriform algebras and quadri-algebras as a natural generalization of Rota-Baxter operators. The invertible $\mathcal O$-operators give a sufficient and necessary condition on the existence of the $2^{n+1}$ operations on an algebra with the $2^{n}$ operations in an associative cluster. The analogues of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in these algebras can be understood as the $\mathcal O$-operators associated to certain dual bimodules. As a byproduct, the constraint conditions (invariances) of nondegenerate bilinear forms on these algebras are given.

Nonabelian generalized Lax pairs, the classical Yang-Baxter equation and PostLie algebras

We generalize the classical study of (generalized) Lax pairs and the related $O$-operators and the (modified) classical Yang-Baxter equation by introducing the concepts of nonabelian generalized Lax pairs, extended $\calo$-operators and the extended classical Yang-Baxter equation. We study in this context the nonabelian generalized $r$-matrix ansatz and the related double Lie algebra structures. Relationship between extended $O$-operators and the extended classical Yang-Baxter equation is established, especially for self-dual Lie algebras. This relationship allows us to obtain explicit description of the Manin triples for a new class of Lie bialgebras. Furthermore, we show that a natural structure of PostLie algebra is behind $O$-operators and fits in a setup of triple Lie algebra that produces self-dual nonabelian generalized Lax pairs.
