On a Grassmann odd analogue of Carrollian Manifolds

We define a Grassmann odd analogue of a Carrollian manifold as a supermanifold of dimension $n|1$ with an even degenerate metric such that the kernel is generated by a non-singular odd vector field that is a supersymmetry generator. Alongside other results, we establish that the reduced manifold is a pseudo-Riemannian manifold, and show that compatible affine connections always exist, albeit they must carry torsion. As a physically relevant example, we examine an Inönü--Wigner contraction of the supertranslation algebra on standard superspace $\mathbb{R}^{4|4}$.

Semiheaps and Ternary Algebras in Quantum Mechanics Revisited

We re-examine the appearance of semiheaps and (para-associative) ternary algebras in quantum mechanics. In particular, we review the construction of a semiheap on a Hilbert space and the set of bounded operators on a Hilbert space. The new aspect of this work is a discussion of how symmetries of a quantum system induce homomorphisms of the relevant semiheaps and ternary algebras.

Odd Connections on Supermanifolds: Existence and relation with Affine Connections

The notion of an odd quasi-connection on a supermanifold, which is loosely an affine connection that carries non-zero Grassmann parity, is examined. Their torsion and curvature are defined, however, in general, they are not tensors. A special class of such generalised connections, referred to as odd connections in this paper, have torsion and curvature tensors. Part of the structure is an odd involution of the tangent bundle of the supermanifold and this puts drastic restrictions on the supermanifolds that admit odd connections. In particular, they must have equal number of even and odd dimensions. Amongst other results, we show that an odd connection is defined, up to an odd tensor field of type $(1,2)$, by an affine connection and an odd endomorphism of the tangent bundle. Thus, the theory of odd connections and affine connections are not completely separate theories. As an example relevant to physics, it is shown that $N= 1$ super-Minkowski spacetime admits a natural odd connection.

Riemannian structures on $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifolds

Very loosely, $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifolds are `manifolds' with $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded coordinates and their sign rule is determined by the scalar product of their $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-degrees. A little more carefully, such objects can be understood within a sheaf-theoretical framework, just as supermanifolds can, but with subtle differences. In this paper, we examine the notion of a Riemannian $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifold, i.e., a $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifold equipped with a Riemannian metric that may carry non-zero $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-degree. We show that the basic notions and tenets of Riemannian geometry directly generalise to the setting of $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-geometry. For example, the Fundamental Theorem holds in this higher graded setting. We point out the similarities and differences with Riemannian supergeometry.

The Schwarz-Voronov Embedding of ${\mathbb Z}_{2}^{n}$-Manifolds

Informally, ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-manifolds are 'manifolds' with ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-graded coordinates and a sign rule determined by the standard scalar product of their ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-degrees. Such manifolds can be understood in a sheaf-theoretic framework, as supermanifolds can, but with significant differences, in particular in integration theory. In this paper, we reformulate the notion of a ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-manifold within a categorical framework via the functor of points. We show that it is sufficient to consider ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-points, i.e., trivial ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-manifolds for which the reduced manifold is just a single point, as 'probes' when employing the functor of points. This allows us to construct a fully faithful restricted Yoneda embedding of the category of ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-manifolds into a subcategory of contravariant functors from the category of ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-points to a category of Fréchet manifolds over algebras. We refer to this embedding as the Schwarz-Voronov embedding. We further prove that the category of ${\mathbb Z}_2^n$-manifolds is equivalent to the full subcategory of locally trivial functors in the preceding subcategory.

Double-Graded Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics

A quantum mechanical model that realizes the $ \mathbb{Z}_2 \times \mathbb{Z}_2$-graded generalization of the one-dimensional supertranslation algebra is proposed. This model shares some features with the well-known Witten model and is related to parasupersymmetric quantum mechanics, though the model is not directly equivalent to either of these. The purpose of this paper is to show that novel "higher gradings" are possible in the context of non-relativistic quantum mechanics.

Almost Commutative Q-algebras and Derived brackets

We introduce the notion of \emph{almost commutative Q-algebras} and demonstrate how the derived bracket formalism of Kosmann-Schwarzbach generalises to this setting. In particular, we construct `almost commutative Lie algebroids' following Va\uıntrob's Q-manifold understanding of classical Lie algebroids. We show that the basic tenets of the theory of Lie algebroids carry over verbatim to the almost commutative world.

Connections Adapted to Non-Negatively Graded Structures

Graded bundles are a particularly nice class of graded manifolds and represent a natural generalisation of vector bundles. By exploiting the formalism of supermanifolds to describe Lie algebroids we define the notion of a weighted $A$-connection on a graded bundle. In a natural sense weighted $A$-connections are adapted to the basic geometric structure of a graded bundle in the same way as linear $A$-connections are adapted to the structure of a vector bundle. This notion generalises directly to multi-graded bundles and in particular we present the notion of a bi-weighted $A$-connection on a double vector bundle. We prove the existence of such adapted connections and use them to define (quasi-)actions of Lie algebroids on graded bundles.

Functional analytic issues in $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-Geometry

We show that the function sheaf of a $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifold is a nuclear Fréchet sheaf of $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-commutative associative unital algebras. Further, we prove that the components of the pullback sheaf morphism of a $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-morphism are all continuous. These results are essential for the existence of categorical products in the category of $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-manifolds. All proofs are self-contained and explicit.

Products in the category of $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-manifolds

We prove that the category of $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-manifolds has all finite products. Further, we show that a $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-manifold (resp., a $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-morphism) can be reconstructed from its algebra of global $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-functions (resp., from its algebra morphism between global $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-function algebras). These results are of importance in the study of $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$ Lie groups. The investigation is all the more challenging, since the completed tensor product of the structure sheafs of two $\mathbb{Z}_2 ^n$-manifolds is not a sheaf. We rely on a number of results on (pre)sheaves of topological algebras, which we establish in the appendix.

Kirillov structures up to homotopy

We present the notion of higher Kirillov brackets on the sections of an even line bundle over a supermanifold. When the line bundle is trivial we shall speak of higher Jacobi brackets. These brackets are understood furnishing the module of sections with an $L_{\infty}$-algebra, which we refer to as a homotopy Kirillov algebra. We are then to higher Kirillov algebroids as higher generalisations of Jacobi algebroids. Furthermore, we show how to associate a higher Kirillov algebroid and a homotopy BV-algebra with every higher Kirillov manifold. In short, we construct homotopy versions of some of the well-known theorems related to Kirillov's local Lie algebras.

Polarisation of Graded Bundles

We construct the full linearisation functor which takes a graded bundle of degree $k$ (a particular kind of graded manifold) and produces a $k$-fold vector bundle. We fully characterise the image of the full linearisation functor and show that we obtain a subcategory of $k$-fold vector bundles consisting of symmetric $k$-fold vector bundles equipped with a family of morphisms indexed by the symmetric group ${\mathbb S}_k$. Interestingly, for the degree 2 case this additional structure gives rise to the notion of a symplectical double vector bundle, which is the skew-symmetric analogue of a metric double vector bundle. We also discuss the related case of fully linearising $N$-manifolds, and how one can use the full linearisation functor to "superise" a graded bundle.

Graded Bundles in the Category of Lie Groupoids

We define and make initial study of Lie groupoids equipped with a compatible homogeneity (or graded bundle) structure, such objects we will refer to as weighted Lie groupoids. One can think of weighted Lie groupoids as graded manifolds in the category of Lie groupoids. This is a very rich geometrical theory with numerous natural examples. Note that $\mathcal{VB}$-groupoids, extensively studied in the recent literature, form just the particular case of weighted Lie groupoids of degree one. We examine the Lie theory related to weighted groupoids and weighted Lie algebroids, objects defined in a previous publication of the authors, which are graded manifolds in the category of Lie algebroids, showing that they are naturally related via differentiation and integration. In this work we also make an initial study of weighted Poisson-Lie groupoids and weighted Lie bi-algebroids, as well as weighted Courant algebroids.

Linear duals of graded bundles and higher analogues of (Lie) algebroids

Graded bundles are a class of graded manifolds which represent a natural generalisation of vector bundles and include the higher order tangent bundles as canonical examples. We present and study the concept of the linearisation of graded bundle which allows us to define the notion of the linear dual of a graded bundle. They are examples of double structures, graded-linear ($\mathcal{GL}$) bundles, including double vector bundles as a particular case. On $\mathcal{GL}$-bundles we define what we shall call weighted algebroids, which are to be understood as algebroids in the category of graded bundles. They can be considered as a geometrical framework for higher order Lagrangian mechanics. Canonical examples are reductions of higher tangent bundles of Lie groupoids. Weighted algebroids represent also a generalisation of $\mathcal{VB}$-algebroids as defined by Gracia-Saz & Mehta and the $\mathcal{LA}$-bundles of Mackenzie. The resulting structures are strikingly similar to Voronov's higher Lie algebroids, however our approach does not require the initial structures to be defined on supermanifolds.

Higher order mechanics on graded bundles

In this paper we develop a geometric approach to higher order mechanics on graded bundles in both, the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalism, via the recently discovered weighted algebroids. We present the corresponding Tulczyjew triple for this higher order situation and derive in this framework the phase equations from an arbitrary (also singular) Lagrangian or Hamiltonian, as well as the Euler-Lagrange equations. As important examples, we geometrically derive the classical higher order Euler-Lagrange equations and analogous reduced equations for invariant higher order Lagrangians on Lie groupoids.

Odd Jacobi manifolds and Loday-Poisson brackets

In this paper we construct a non-skewsymmetric version of a Poisson bracket on the algebra of smooth functions on an odd Jacobi supermanifold. We refer to such Poisson-like brackets as Loday-Poisson brackets. We examine the relations between the Hamiltonian vector fields with respect to both the odd Jacobi structure and the Loday-Poisson structure. Furthermore, we show that the Loday-Poisson bracket satisfies the Leibniz rule over the noncommutative product derived from the homological vector field.

Odd Jacobi manifolds: general theory and applications to generalised Lie algebroids

In this paper we define a Grassmann odd analogue of Jacobi structure on a supermanifold. The basic properties are explored. The construction of odd Jacobi manifolds is then used to reexamine the notion of a Jacobi algebroid. It is shown that Jacobi algebroids can be understood in terms of a kind of curved Q-manifold, which we will refer to as a quasi Q-manifold.
