Holographic stability for non-$q\bar{q}$ candidates

In the context of bottom-up AdS/QCD models, we discuss how the configurational entropy can describe heavy non-$q\,\bar{q}$ states. Using the non-quadratic softwall model, introduced to describe non-linear Regge trajectories, we parametrize different multiquark and exotic meson structures to describe $Z_c$, $ψ$, and $Z_b$ states as non-$q\,\bar{q}$ hadrons in terms of stability. We found that $Z_c$ is better described as a hybrid meson with one gluon tube, $ψ$ as hadrocharmonium, and $Z_b$ as hadronic molecule.

Drag Force in the Vacuum of Confining Gauge Theories

The complete absence of isolated quarks reaching particle detectors after high energy collisions suggests that some physical mechanism generates resistance to their propagation in the vacuum. In order to reveal such a mechanism, we analyze the fate of an infinitely heavy quark that is initially propagating in the vacuum with inertial motion. The non-perturbative structure of the vacuum is treated here using the gauge/ gravity correspondence, the isolated quark on the boundary gauge theory is dual to a trailing string moving in the bulk of a higher dimensional curved space. We find that, for a large class of non-conformal gauge theories with a holographic dual, the geometrical structure of the bulk geometry induces a drag force on the quark that moves in the vacuum. In addition, we show that for these gauge theories there will be the presence of such a drag force due to its vacuum whenever the dual bulk geometry generates a linear potential for a $q\bar{q}$ pair. The relation of the linear $q\bar{q}$ potential with the drag force on the isolated quark is a holographic piece of evidence that both phenomena are different manifestations of the confinement of quarks.

Holographic Confinement of the Solitary Quark

Single quarks moving in the vacuum of confining gauge theories are stopped by a drag force. The holographic description relates the confining scale in the bulk geometry with a range of physical values for the drag force in the vacuum. The vacuum drag force acting on the isolated quark directly manifests quark confinement since it prevents the quark from walking freely in the vacuum. However, analytical expressions for the drag force as a function of the quark velocity were lacking. In the present work, we propose that the vacuum drag force is given by the regularized zero-temperature limit of the corresponding thermal drag force. Within this approach, we obtain the desired analytic expressions in two different holographic models: the quadratic dilaton and the D-instanton. In both cases, we find well-behaved functions belonging to their physical range of values.

Pion form factor from an AdS deformed background

We consider a bottom-up AdS/QCD model with a conformal exponential deformation $e^{k\,z^2}$ on a Lorentz invariant AdS background. In this model, we assume the conformal dimension associated with the operator that creates pions at the boundary as $Δ=3$. Regarding the infrared scale related to photon field $k_γ$, we analyze two cases: constant and depending on the transferred momentum $q$. In these two cases, we computed the electromagnetic pion form factor as well as the pion radius. We compare our results with experimental data as well as other theoretical (holographic and non-holographic) models. In particular, for the momentum-dependent infrared scale, we find good agreement with the available experimental data as well as non-holographic models.

Decay constants in AdS/QCD: a different approach

The holographic recipe for the calculation of decay constants is revisited. Starting from the holographic 2-point function and using the fact that normalizable bulk modes scale as $z^{Δ-S}$, with $S$ the spin, we can obtain a consistent expression that depends on the value of the mode at the boundary, not the derivative. We apply our decay constant expression to other AdS/QCD (static and dynamic) models proving its consistency. We also demonstrated that our approach is equivalent to the usual holographic prescription.

Hadronic Spectra from Deformed AdS Backgrounds

Because of the presence of modified warp factors in metric tensors, we use deformed AdS$_5$ spaces to apply the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate the spectra for even and odd glueballs, scalar and vector mesons, and baryons with different spins. For the glueball cases, we derive their Regge trajectories and compare them with those related to the pomeron and the odderon. For the scalar and vector mesons as well as baryons the determined masses are compatible with the PDG. In particular for these hadrons we found Regge trajectories compatible with another holographic approach as well as with the hadronic spectroscopy, which present an universal Regge slope of approximately 1.1 GeV$^2$.

Light Pseudoscalar and Axial Spectroscopy using AdS/QCD Modified Soft Wall Model

We study light pseudoscalar and axial states using a soft wall model that is modified by introducing two extra parameters: an UV-cutoff and an anomalous term in the conformal dimension of the fields involved such that meson fields with different parities are easily distinguishable. We find that 23 of these light mesonic states, including the scalars and vector states analyzed with one of our previous results, are fitted within the RMS error bounds given for this model, whose parameters are given by the quadratic dilaton profile, the UV locus $z_{0}$ and the anomalous term $Δ_{P}$. Our results show that Regge trajectories for pseudoscalar and axial mesons are linear in the radial quantum number $n$, as expected for these sort of regular $q\overline{q}$ mesons.

Non-linear Regge trajectories with AdS/QCD

In this work, we consider a non-quadratic dilaton $Φ(z)=(κ\,z)^{2-α}$ in the context of the static soft wall model to describe the mass spectrum of a wide range of vector mesons from the light up to the heavy sectors. The effect of this non-quadratic approach is translated into non-linear Regge trajectories with the generic form $M^2=a\,(n+b)^ν$. We apply this sort of fits for the isovector states of $ω$, $ϕ$, $J/ψ$ and $Υ$ mesons and compare with the corresponding holographic duals. We also extend these ideas to the heavy-light sector by using the isovector set of parameters to extrapolate the proper values of $κ$ and $α$ through the average constituent mass $\bar{m}$ for each mesonic specie considered. In the same direction, we address the description of possible non-$q\,\bar{q}$ candidates using $\bar{m}$ as a holographic threshold, associated with the structure of the exotic state, to define the values of $κ$ and $α$. We study the $π_1$ mesons in the light sector, and the $Z_c$, $Y$ and $Z_b$ mesons in the heavy sector as possible exotic vector states. Finally, the RMS error for describing these twenty-seven states with fifteen parameters (four values for $κ$ and $α$ respectively and seven values for $\bar{m}$) is $12.61\%$.

Two-body light front wave functions from general AdS/QCD models

In this work, we consider an extension to the matching procedure proposed by Brodsky and de Teramond to obtain the two-body wave functions in the light-front formalism for holographic models. We compute the light-front wave function (LFWF) considering different static dilaton fields and AdS-like geometric deformations. We also prove that this procedure holds for general AdS/QCD models in asymptotically AdS geometries.

Family of dilatons and metrics for AdS/QCD models

We explore some possibilities for obtaining useful metrics and dilatons for AdS/QCD models. As a guideline, we consider dilatons and/or metrics that on the one hand reproduce the mesonic spectrum, and that on the other hand allow us a correct implementation of chiral symmetry breaking in AdS/QCD models. We discuss two procedures: one is based on supersymmetric quantum mechanics techniques and the other considers the interpolation between some limits on dilatons and/or metrics.

Nonperturbative contribution to the strange-antistrange asymmetry of the nucleon sea

We give predictions for the nonperturbative (intrinsic) contribution to the $s(x) - \bar{s}(x)$ asymmetry of the nucleon sea. For this purpose we use different light-front wave functions inspired by the AdS/QCD formalism, together with a model of the nucleon in terms of meson-baryon fluctuations. The holographic wave functions for an arbitrary number of constituents, recently derived by us, give results quite close to known parametrizations that appear in the literature.

Nuclear physics in soft-wall AdS/QCD: Deuteron electromagnetic form factors

We present a high-quality description of the deuteron electromagnetic form factors in a soft-wall AdS/QCD approach. We first propose an effective action describing the dynamics of the deuteron in the presence of an external vector field. Based on this action the deuteron electromagnetic form factors are calculated, displaying the correct 1/Q^10 power scaling for large Q^2 values. This finding is consistent with quark counting rules and the earlier observation that this result holds in confining gauge/gravity duals. The Q^2 dependence of the deuteron form factors is defined by a single and universal scale parameter kappa, which is fixed from data.

Chiral Symmetry Breaking and Meson Wave Functions in Soft-Wall AdS/QCD

We consider mesons composed of light and heavy quarks and discuss the construction of the corresponding meson wave functions in soft-wall AdS/QCD. We specifically take care that constraints imposed by chiral symmetry breaking and by the heavy quark limit are fulfilled. The main results are: i) the wave functions of light mesons have a nontrivial dependence on the current quark mass, which gives rise to a mass spectrum consistent with the one including explicit breaking of chiral symmetry; ii) the wave functions of heavy-light mesons generate their correct mass spectrum, the mass splittings of vector and pseudoscalar states, and the correct scaling of leptonic decay constants f(Q \bar q) \sim 1/sqrt(mQ); iii) the wave functions of heavy quarkonia produce their correct mass spectrum and lead to a scaling behaviour of the leptonic decay constants f(Q \bar Q) \sim sqrt(mQ) and f(c \bar b) \sim mc/sqrt(mb) at mc << mb, consistent with potential models and QCD sum rules.

Light-front quark model consistent with Drell-Yan-West duality and quark counting rules

We propose a phenomenological light-front wave function for hadrons with arbitrary twist-dimension (mesons, baryons and multiquark states), which gives the correct scaling behavior of structure functions (parton distributions) and form factors for pions and nucleons. For other hadronic states the proposed wave function produces form factors consistent with quark counting rules, and gives predictions for structure functions (parton distributions). As an application we build a light-front quark model for nucleons based on the proposed wave function.

Nucleon resonances in AdS/QCD

We describe the electroproduction of the N(1440) Roper resonance in soft-wall AdS/QCD. The Roper resonance is identified as the first radially excited state of the nucleon, where higher-Fock states in addition to the three-quark component are included. The main conclusion is that the leading 3q component plays the dominant role in the description of electroproduction properties of this resonance: form factors, helicity amplitudes and charge densities. The obtained results are in good agreement with the recent results of the CLAS Collaboration at JLab.

Dilaton in a soft-wall holographic approach to mesons and baryons

We discuss a holographic soft-wall model developed for the description of mesons and baryons with adjustable quantum numbers n, J, L, S. This approach is based on an action which describes hadrons with broken conformal invariance and which incorporates confinement through the presence of a background dilaton field. We show that in the case of the bound-state problem (hadronic mass spectrum) two versions of the model with a positive and negative dilaton profile are equivalent to each other by a special transformation of the bulk field. We also comment on recent works which discuss the dilaton sign in the context of soft-wall approaches.

Nucleon structure including high Fock states in AdS/QCD

We present a detailed analysis of nucleon electromagnetic and axial form factors in a holographic soft-wall model. This approach is based on an action which describes hadrons with broken conformal invariance and incorporates confinement through the presence of a background dilaton field. For Nc=3 we describe the nucleon structure in a superposition of a three valence quark state with high Fock states including an adjustable number of partons (quarks, antiquarks and gluons) via studying the dynamics of 5D fermion fields of different scaling dimension in anti-de Sitter (ADS) space. According to the gauge/gravity duality the 5D fermion fields of different scaling dimension correspond to the Fock state components with a specific number of partons. In the present application we restrict to the contribution of 3, 4 and 5 parton components in the nucleon Fock state. With a minimal number of free parameters (dilaton scale parameter, mixing parameters of partial contributions of Fock states, coupling constants in the effective Lagrangian) we achieve a reasonable agreement with data for the nucleon form factors.

Hadron properties in AdS/QCD

We discuss a holographic soft-wall model developed for the description of mesons and baryons with adjustable quantum numbers n, J, L, S. This approach is based on an action which describes hadrons with broken conformal invariance and which incorporates confinement through the presence of a background dilaton field. Results obtained for heavy-light meson masses and decay constants are consistent with predictions of HQET. In the baryon sector applications to the baryon masses, nucleon electromagnetic form factors and generalized parton distributions are discussed.

Mesons and baryons in the holographic soft-wall model

Mesons and baryons are considered in soft-wall holographic approach based on the correspondence of string theory in AdS space and conformal field theory in physical space-time. The model generates Regge trajectories linear in n and J (L) for the hadronic mass spectrum. Results obtained for heavy-light meson masses and decay constants are consistent with predictions of HQET. In the baryon sector applications to the nucleon electromagnetic form factors and generalized parton distributions are discussed.

Modes with variable mass as an alternative in AdS / QCD models with chiral symmetry breaking

We consider a new possibility of incorporating chiral symmetry breaking in soft wall models with a quadratic dilaton and AdS metric. In particular, we allow the mass of the scalar modes propagating in the bulk to have a dependence on the holographical coordinate. In one of the models that we discuss, it is possible obtain a good meson spectra considering current quark masses, and in the other two models considered, good results can be obtained at the expense of considering rather large quark masses.
