$L^{p}$ estimates and weighted estimates of fractional maximal rough singular integrals on homogeneous groups

In this paper, we study the $L^{p}$ boundedness and $L^{p}(w)$ boundedness ($1<p<\infty$ and $w$ a Muckenhoupt $A_{p}$ weight) of fractional maximal singular integral operators $T_{Ω,α}^{\#}$ with homogeneous convolution kernel $Ω(x)$ on an arbitrary homogeneous group $\mathbb H$ of dimension $\mathbb{Q}$. We show that if $0<α<\mathbb{Q}$, $Ω\in L^{1}(Σ)$ and satisfies the cancellation condition of order $[α]$, then for any $1<p<\infty$, \begin{align*} \|T_{Ω,α}^{\#}f\|_{L^{p}(\mathbb{H})}\lesssim\|Ω\|_{L^{1}(Σ)}\|f\|_{L_α^{p}(\mathbb{H})}, \end{align*} where for the case $α=0$, the $L^p$ boundedness of rough singular integral operator and its maximal operator were studied by Tao (\cite{Tao}) and Sato (\cite{sato}), respectively. We also obtain a quantitative weighted bound for these operators. To be specific, if $0\leqα<\mathbb{Q}$ and $Ω$ satisfies the same cancellation condition but a stronger condition that $Ω\in L^{q}(Σ)$ for some $q>\mathbb{Q}/α$, then for any $1<p<\infty$ and $w\in A_{p}$, \begin{align*} \|T_{Ω,α}^{\#}f\|_{L^{p}(w)}\lesssim\|Ω\|_{L^{q}(Σ)}\{w\}_{A_p}(w)_{A_p}\|f\|_{L_α^{p}(w)},\ \ 1<p<\infty. \end{align*}

Atomistic simulation of Mott transition in fluid metals: Combining molecular dynamics with dynamical mean-field theory

We present a new quantum molecular dynamics (MD) method where the electronic structure and atomic forces are solved by a real-space dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). Contrary to most quantum MD methods that are based on effective single-particle wave functions, the DMFT approach is able to describe correlation-induced Mott metal-insulator transitions and the associated incoherent electronic excitations in an atomic liquid. We apply the DMFT-MD method to study Mott transitions in an atomic liquid model which can be viewed as the liquid-state generalization of the Hubbard model. The half-filled Hubbard liquids also provide a minimum model for alkali fluid metals. Our simulations uncover two distinct types of Mott transition depending on the atomic bonding and short-range structures in the electronically delocalized phase. In the first scenario where atoms tend to form dimers, increasing the Hubbard repulsion gives rise to a transition from a molecular insulator to an atomic insulator with a small window of enhanced metallicity in the vicinity of the localization transition. On the other hand, for Hubbard liquids with atoms forming large conducting clusters, the localization of electrons leads to the fragmentation of clusters and is intimately related to the liquid-gas transition of atoms. Implications of our results for metal-insulator transitions in fluid alkali metals are discussed.

Endpoint weak Schatten class estimates and trace formula for commutators of Riesz transforms with multipliers on Heisenberg groups

Along the line of singular value estimates for commutators by Rochberg-Semmes, Lord-McDonald-Sukochev-Zanin and Fan-Lacey-Li, we establish the endpoint weak Schatten class estimate for commutators of Riesz transforms with multiplication operator $M_f$ on Heisenberg groups via homogeneous Sobolev norm of the symbol $f$. The new tool we exploit is the construction of a singular trace formula on Heisenberg groups, which, together with the use of double operator integrals, allows us to bypass the use of Fourier analysis and provides a solid foundation to investigate the singular values estimates for similar commutators in general stratified Lie groups.

The Schrödinger equation in $L^p$ spaces for operators with heat kernel satisfying Poisson type bounds

Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator acting on $L^2(X)$ where $X$ is a space of homogeneous type with a dimension $n$. In this paper, we study sharp endpoint $L^p$-Sobolev estimates for the solution of the initial value problem for the Schrödinger equation, $i \partial_t u + L u=0 $ and show that for all $f\in L^p(X), 1<p<\infty,$ \begin{eqnarray*} \left\| e^{itL} (I+L)^{-{σn}} f\right\|_{p} \leq C(1+|t|)^{σn} \|f\|_{p}, \ \ \ t\in{\mathbb R}, \ \ \ σ\geq \big|{1\over 2}-{1\over p}\big|, \end{eqnarray*} where the semigroup $e^{-tL}$ generated by $L$ satisfies a Poisson type upper bound. This extends the previous result in \cite{CDLY1} in which the semigroup $e^{-tL}$ generated by $L$ satisfies the exponential decay.

Distribution of Kinks in an Ising Ferromagnet After Annealing and the Generalized Kibble-Zurek Mechanism

We consider the annealing dynamics of a one-dimensional Ising ferromagnet induced by a temperature quench in finite time. In the limit of slow cooling, the asymptotic two-point correlator is analytically found under Glauber dynamics, and the distribution of the number of kinks in the final state is shown to be consistent with a Poissonian distribution. The mean kink number, the variance, and the third centered moment take the same value and obey a universal power-law scaling with the quench time in which the temperature is varied. The universal power-law scaling of cumulants is corroborated by numerical simulations based on Glauber dynamics for moderate cooling times away from the asymptotic limit, when the kink-number distribution takes a binomial form. We analyze the relation of these results to physics beyond the Kibble-Zurek mechanism for critical dynamics, using the kink number distribution to assess adiabaticity and its breakdown. We consider linear, nonlinear, and exponential cooling schedules, among which the latter provides the most efficient shortcuts to cooling in a given quench time. The non-thermal behavior of the final state is established by considering the trace norm distance to a canonical Gibbs state.

Weak type $(p,p)$ bounds for Schrödinger groups via generalized Gaussian estimates

Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator acting on $L^2(X)$, where $X$ is a space of homogeneous type with a dimension $n$. Suppose that the heat operator $e^{-tL}$ satisfies the generalized Gaussian $(p_0, p'_0)$-estimates of order $m$ for some $1\leq p_0 < 2$. It is known that the operator $(I+L)^{-s } e^{itL}$ is bounded on $L^p(X)$ for $s\geq n|{1/ 2}-{1/p}| $ and $ p\in (p_0, p_0')$ (see for example, \cite{Blunck2, BDN, CCO, CDLY, DN, Mi1}). In this paper we study the endpoint case $p=p_0$ and show that for $s_0= n\big|{1\over 2}-{1\over p_0}\big|$, the operator $(I+L)^{-{s_0}}e^{itL} $ is of weak type $(p_{0},p_{0})$, that is, there is a constant $C>0$, independent of $t$ and $f$ so that \begin{eqnarray*} μ\left(\left\{x: \big|(I+L)^{-s_0}e^{itL} f(x)\big|>α\right\} \right)\leq C (1+|t|)^{n(1 - {p_0\over 2}) } \left( {\|f\|_{p_0} \over α} \right)^{p_0} , \ \ \ t\in{\mathbb R} \end{eqnarray*} for $α>0$ when $μ(X)=\infty$, and $α>\big(\|f\|_{p_{0}}/μ(X) \big)^{p_{0}}$ when $μ(X)<\infty$. Our results can be applied to Schrödinger operators with rough potentials and %second order elliptic operators with rough lower order terms, or higher order elliptic operators with bounded measurable coefficients although in general, their semigroups fail to satisfy Gaussian upper bounds.
