DQ-LoRe: Dual Queries with Low Rank Approximation Re-ranking for In-Context Learning

Recent advances in natural language processing, primarily propelled by Large Language Models (LLMs), have showcased their remarkable capabilities grounded in in-context learning. A promising avenue for guiding LLMs in intricate reasoning tasks involves the utilization of intermediate reasoning steps within the Chain-of-Thought (CoT) paradigm. Nevertheless, the central challenge lies in the effective selection of exemplars for facilitating in-context learning. In this study, we introduce a framework that leverages Dual Queries and Low-rank approximation Re-ranking (DQ-LoRe) to automatically select exemplars for in-context learning. Dual Queries first query LLM to obtain LLM-generated knowledge such as CoT, then query the retriever to obtain the final exemplars via both question and the knowledge. Moreover, for the second query, LoRe employs dimensionality reduction techniques to refine exemplar selection, ensuring close alignment with the input question's knowledge. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that DQ-LoRe significantly outperforms prior state-of-the-art methods in the automatic selection of exemplars for GPT-4, enhancing performance from 92.5% to 94.2%. Our comprehensive analysis further reveals that DQ-LoRe consistently outperforms retrieval-based approaches in terms of both performance and adaptability, especially in scenarios characterized by distribution shifts. DQ-LoRe pushes the boundary of in-context learning and opens up new avenues for addressing complex reasoning challenges. Our code is released at https://github.com/menik1126/DQ-LoRe

EnvFactory: Scaling Tool-Use Agents via Executable Environments Synthesis and Robust RL

Equipping LLMs with tool-use capabilities via Agentic Reinforcement Learning (Agentic RL) is bottlenecked by two challenges: the lack of scalable, robust execution environments and the scarcity of realistic training data that captures implicit human reasoning. Existing approaches depend on costly real-world APIs, hallucination-prone LLM simulators, or synthetic environments that are often single-turn or depend on pre-collected documents. Moreover, synthetic trajectories are frequently over-specified, resembling instruction sequences rather than natural human intents, reducing their effectiveness for RL training. We introduce EnvFactory, a fully automated framework that addresses both challenges. EnvFactory autonomously explores and verifies stateful, executable tool environments from authentic resources, and synthesizes natural multi-turn trajectories through topology-aware sampling and calibrated refinement, producing grounded queries with implicit intents. Using only 85 verified environments across 7 domains, EnvFactory generates 2,575 SFT and RL trajectories. Despite using significantly fewer environments than prior work, which are often 5 times more, EnvFactory achieves superior training efficiency and downstream performance, improving Qwen3-series models by up to +15% on BFCLv3, +8.6% on MCP-Atlas, and +6% on conversational benchmarks including $τ^2$-Bench and VitaBench. By fully automating both environment construction and trajectory synthesis, EnvFactory provides a scalable, extensible, and robust foundation for Agentic RL.

Prune-OPD: Efficient and Reliable On-Policy Distillation for Long-Horizon Reasoning

On-policy distillation (OPD) leverages dense teacher rewards to enhance reasoning models. However, scaling OPD to long-horizon tasks exposes a critical flaw: as the student's generated prefix inevitably diverges from the teacher's thought process, the teacher's dense reward loses local exploitability. Continuing to generate and evaluate tokens on these ``drifted'' trajectories not only degrades reward quality but also incurs massive computational waste. To address this, we introduce \textbf{Prune-OPD}, a framework that dynamically aligns training budgets with supervision quality. By continuously monitoring the local compatibility between student and teacher predictions (e.g., via top-$k$ overlap), Prune-OPD detects prefix-drift events in real time. Upon detecting severe drift, it monotonically down-weights subsequent unreliable rewards and triggers dynamic rollout truncation. This allows the training process to halt futile generation and reallocate compute strictly to reliable teacher supervision. Across diverse teacher-student combinations, Prune-OPD consistently aligns computation with supervision reliability. When prefix drift makes dense teacher rewards unreliable, it reduces training time by 37.6\%--68.0\% while preserving, and often improving, performance on challenging benchmarks (AMC, AIME, HMMT). When student-teacher compatibility remains high, it automatically preserves long-context supervision by expanding the training window. These results suggest that Prune-OPD improves OPD not by blindly shortening rollouts, but by reallocating computation toward locally exploitable teacher rewards.

Agriculture-Vision Challenge 2022 -- The Runner-Up Solution for Agricultural Pattern Recognition via Transformer-based Models

The Agriculture-Vision Challenge in CVPR is one of the most famous and competitive challenges for global researchers to break the boundary between computer vision and agriculture sectors, aiming at agricultural pattern recognition from aerial images. In this paper, we propose our solution to the third Agriculture-Vision Challenge in CVPR 2022. We leverage a data pre-processing scheme and several Transformer-based models as well as data augmentation techniques to achieve a mIoU of 0.582, accomplishing the 2nd place in this challenge.

ORCA: Enabling an Owner-centric and Data-driven Management Paradigm for Future Heterogeneous Edge-IoT Systems

Integrating Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing for "Edge-IoT" systems, converged with machine intelligence, has the potentials of enabling a wide range of applications in smart homes, factories and cities. Edge-IoT can connect many diverse devices and the IoT asset owners can run heterogeneous IoT systems supported by various vendors or service providers (SPs), using either cloud or local edge computing (or both) for resource assistance. The existing methods typically manage the systems as separate vertical "silos", or in a vendor/SP-centric way, which suffers from significant challenges. In this paper, we present a novel owner-centric management paradigm named "ORCA" to address the gaps left by the owner-centric paradigm and empower the IoT assets owners to effectively identify and mitigate potential issues in their own network premises, regardless the vendors/SPs' situations. ORCA aims to be scalable and extensible in assisting IoT owners to perform intelligent management through a behavior-oriented and data-driven approach. ORCA is an ongoing project and the preliminary results indicate that it can significantly empower the IoT systems owners to better manage their IoT assets.

Deep residual detection of radio frequency interference for FAST

Radio frequency interference (RFI) detection and excision are key steps in the data-processing pipeline of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Because of its high sensitivity and large data rate, FAST requires more accurate and efficient RFI flagging methods than its counterparts. In the last decades, approaches based upon artificial intelligence (AI), such as codes using convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have been proposed to identify RFI more reliably and efficiently. However, RFI flagging of FAST data with such methods has often proved to be erroneous, with further manual inspections required. In addition, network construction as well as preparation of training data sets for effective RFI flagging has imposed significant additional workloads. Therefore, rapid deployment and adjustment of AI approaches for different observations is impractical to implement with existing algorithms. To overcome such problems, we propose a model called RFI-Net. With the input of raw data without any processing, RFI-Net can detect RFI automatically, producing corresponding masks without any alteration of the original data. Experiments with RFI-Net using simulated astronomical data show that our model has outperformed existing methods in terms of both precision and recall. Besides, compared with other models, our method can obtain the same relative accuracy with fewer training data, thus reducing the effort and time required to prepare the training data set. Further, the training process of RFI-Net can be accelerated, with overfittings being minimized, compared with other CNN codes. The performance of RFI-Net has also been evaluated with observing data obtained by FAST and the Bleien Observatory. Our results demonstrate the ability of RFI-Net to accurately identify RFI with fine-grained, high-precision masks that required no further modification.

Prior Guided Feature Enrichment Network for Few-Shot Segmentation

State-of-the-art semantic segmentation methods require sufficient labeled data to achieve good results and hardly work on unseen classes without fine-tuning. Few-shot segmentation is thus proposed to tackle this problem by learning a model that quickly adapts to new classes with a few labeled support samples. Theses frameworks still face the challenge of generalization ability reduction on unseen classes due to inappropriate use of high-level semantic information of training classes and spatial inconsistency between query and support targets. To alleviate these issues, we propose the Prior Guided Feature Enrichment Network (PFENet). It consists of novel designs of (1) a training-free prior mask generation method that not only retains generalization power but also improves model performance and (2) Feature Enrichment Module (FEM) that overcomes spatial inconsistency by adaptively enriching query features with support features and prior masks. Extensive experiments on PASCAL-5$^i$ and COCO prove that the proposed prior generation method and FEM both improve the baseline method significantly. Our PFENet also outperforms state-of-the-art methods by a large margin without efficiency loss. It is surprising that our model even generalizes to cases without labeled support samples.
