Global well-posedness and regularity of 3D Burgers equation with multiplicative noise

In this paper, we develop low regularity theory for 3D Burgers equation perturbed by a linear multiplicative stochastic force. This method is new and essentially different from the deterministic partial differential equations(PDEs). Our results and method can be widely applied to other stochastic hydrodynamic equations and the deterministic PDEs. As a further study, we establish a random version of maximum principle for random 3D Burgers equations, which will be an important tool for the study of 3D stochastic Burgers equations. As we know establishing moment estimates for highly nonlinear stochastic hydrodynamic equations is difficult. But moment estimates are very important for us to study the probabilistic properties and long-time behavior for the stochastic systems. Here, the random maximum principle helps us to achieve some important moment estimates for 3D stochastic Burgers equations and lays a solid foundation for the further study of 3D stochastic Burgers equations.

Neural Shadow Mapping

We present a neural extension of basic shadow mapping for fast, high quality hard and soft shadows. We compare favorably to fast pre-filtering shadow mapping, all while producing visual results on par with ray traced hard and soft shadows. We show that combining memory bandwidth-aware architecture specialization and careful temporal-window training leads to a fast, compact and easy-to-train neural shadowing method. Our technique is memory bandwidth conscious, eliminates the need for post-process temporal anti-aliasing or denoising, and supports scenes with dynamic view, emitters and geometry while remaining robust to unseen objects.

Physics-Based Inverse Rendering using Combined Implicit and Explicit Geometries

Mathematically representing the shape of an object is a key ingredient for solving inverse rendering problems. Explicit representations like meshes are efficient to render in a differentiable fashion but have difficulties handling topology changes. Implicit representations like signed-distance functions, on the other hand, offer better support of topology changes but are much more difficult to use for physics-based differentiable rendering. We introduce a new physics-based inverse rendering pipeline that uses both implicit and explicit representations. Our technique enjoys the benefit of both representations by supporting both topology changes and differentiable rendering of complex effects such as environmental illumination, soft shadows, and interreflection. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique using several synthetic and real examples.

Random periodic solutions of nonautonomous stochastic feedback systems with multiplicative noise

We investigate the dynamical behavior of pull-back trajectories for nonautonomous stochastic feedback systems with multiplicative noise. We proved that there exists a random periodic solution of this system and all pull-back trajectories converge to this random periodic solution as time goes to infinitely almost surely. Our results can be applied to nonautonomous stochastic Goodwin negative feedback system, nonautonomous stochastic Othmer-Tyson positive feedback system and nonautonomous stochastic competitive systems etc.

Sharp non-uniqueness of solutions to stochastic Navier-Stokes equations

In this paper we establish a sharp non-uniqueness result for stochastic $d$-dimensional ($d\geq2$) incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. First, for every divergence free initial condition in $L^2$ we show existence of infinite many global in time probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions in the class $L^α\big(Ω,L^p_tL^\infty\big)$ for any $1\leq p<2,α\geq1$. Second, we prove the above result is sharp in the sense that pathwise uniqueness holds in the class of $L^p_tL^q$ for some $p\in[2,\infty],q\in(2,\infty]$ such that $\frac2{p}+\frac{d}{q}\leq1$, which is a stochastic version of Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin criteria. Moreover, for stochastic $d$-dimensional incompressible Euler equation, existence of infinitely many global in time probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions is obtained. Compared to the stopping time argument used in \cite{HZZ19, HZZ21a}, we developed a new stochastic version of the convex integration. More precisely, we introduce expectation during convex integration scheme and construct directly solutions on the whole time interval $[0,\infty)$.

The concentration of zero-noise limits of invariant measures for stochastic dynamical systems

In this paper, we study concentration phenomena of zero-noise limits of invariant measures for stochastic differential equations defined on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with locally Lipschitz continuous coefficients and more than one ergodic state. Under some dissipative conditions, by using Lyapunov-like functions and large deviations methods, we estimate the invariant measures in neighborhoods of stable sets, neighborhoods of unstable sets and their complement, respectively. Our result illustrates that invariant measures concentrate on the intersection of stable sets where a cost functional $W(K_i)$ is minimized and the Birkhoff center of the corresponding deterministic systems as noise tends down to zero. Furthermore, we prove the large deviations principle of invariant measures. At the end of this paper, we provide some explicit examples and their numerical simulations.

3D tamed Navier-Stokes equations driven by multiplicative Lévy noise: Existence, uniqueness and large deviations

In this paper, we show the existence and uniqueness of a strong solution to stochastic 3D tamed Navier-Stokes equations driven by multiplicative Levy noise with periodic boundary conditions. Then we establish the large deviation principles of the strong solution on the state space $\mathcal{D}([0,T];\mathbb{H}^1)$, where the weak convergence approach plays a key role.

Large deviation principles for first-order scalar conservation laws with stochastic forcing

In this paper, we established the Freidlin-Wentzell type large deviation principles for first-order scalar conservation laws perturbed by small multiplicative noise. Due to the lack of the viscous terms in the stochastic equations, the kinetic solution to the Cauchy problem for these first-order conservation laws is studied. Then, based on the well-posedness of the kinetic solutions, we show that the large deviations holds by utilising the weak convergence approach.

Long-time behavior of 3D Stochastic Planetary Geostrophic Viscous Model

This paper reports the 3D planetary geostrophic viscous model has the exponential ergodicity and global attractor if this model is driven by an additive random noise, which results in the support of the integration of invariant measure for the dynamic is exactly a minimal global attractor. It's worth mentioning that this global attractor has finite Hausdorff dimension.

On Limiting Behavior of Stationary Measures for Stochastic Evolution Systems with Small Noise Intensity

The limiting behavior of stochastic evolution processes with small noise intensity $ε$ is investigated in distribution-based approach. Let $μ^ε$ be stationary measure for stochastic process $X^ε$ with small $ε$ and $X^{0}$ be a semiflow on a Polish space. Assume that $\{μ^ε: 0<ε\leqε_0\}$ is tight. Then all their limits in weak sense are $X^0-$invariant and their supports are contained in Birkhoff center of $X^0$. Applications are made to various stochastic evolution systems, including stochastic ordinary differential equations, stochastic partial differential equations, stochastic functional differential equations driven by Brownian motion or Lévy process.

The Decomposition Formula and Stationary Measures for Stochastic Lotka-Volterra Systems with Applications to Turbulent Convection

Motivated by the work of Busse et al. [6] on turbulent convection in a rotating layer, we exploit the long-run behavior for stochastic Lotka-Volterra (LV) systems both in pull-back trajectory and in stationary measure. It is proved stochastic decomposition formula describing the relation between solutions of stochastic and deterministic LV systems and stochastic Logistic equation. By virtue of this formula, it is verified that every pull-back omega limit set is an omega limit set for deterministic LV systems multiplied by the random equilibrium of the stochastic Logistic equation. This formula is used to derive the existence of a stationary measure, its support and ergodicity. We prove the tightness for the set of stationary measures and the invariance for their weak limits as the noise intensity vanishes, whose supports are contained in the Birkhoff center. The developed theory is successfully utilized to completely classify three dimensional competitive stochastic LV systems into $37$ classes. Time average probability measures weakly converge to an ergodic stationary measure on the attracting domain of an omega limit set in all classes except class 27 c). Among them there are two classes possessing a continuum of random closed orbits and ergodic stationary measures supported in cone surfaces, which weakly converge to the Haar measures of periodic orbits as the noise intensity vanishes. In the exceptional class, almost every pull-back trajectory cyclically oscillates around the boundary of the stochastic carrying simplex characterized by three unstable stationary solutions. The limit for the time average probability measures is neither unique nor ergodic. These are subject to turbulent characteristics.

On some smoothening effects of the transition semigroup of a Lévy process

Let $(P_t)$ be the transition semigroup of a Lévy process $L$ taking values in a Hilbert space $H$. Let $ν$ be the Lévy measure of $L$. It is shown that for any bounded and measurable function $f$, $$ \int_H\left\vert P_tf(x+y)-P_tf(x)\right\vert ^2 ν(\dif y)\le \frac 1 t P_tf^2(x) \qquad \text{for all $t>0$, $x\in H$.} $$ As $ν$ can be infinite this formula establishes some smoothening effect of the semigroup $(P_t)$. In the paper some applications of the formula will be presented as well.

Strong Feller properties for degenerate SDEs with jumps

Under full Hörmander's conditions, we prove the strong Feller property of the semigroup determined by an SDE driven by additive subordinate Brownian motion, where the drift is allowed to be arbitrarily growth. For this, we extend a criterion due to Malicet-Poly \cite{Ma-Po} and Bally-Caramellino \cite{Ba-Ca} about the convergence of the laws of Wiener functionals in total variations. Moreover, the example of a chain of coupled oscillators is verified.

An Extended Network Coding Opportunity Discovery Scheme in Wireless Networks

Network coding is known as a promising approach to improve wireless network performance. How to discover the coding opportunity in relay nodes is really important for it. There are more coding chances, there are more times it can improve network throughput by network coding operation. In this paper, an extended network coding opportunity discovery scheme (ExCODE) is proposed, which is realized by appending the current node ID and all its 1-hop neighbors' IDs to the packet. ExCODE enables the next hop relay node to know which nodes else have already overheard the packet, so it can discover the potential coding opportunities as much as possible. ExCODE expands the region of discovering coding chance to n-hops, and have more opportunities to execute network coding operation in each relay node. At last, we implement ExCODE over the AODV protocol, and efficiency of the proposed mechanism is demonstrated with NS2 simulations, compared to the existing coding opportunity discovery scheme.
