$B\to D \ell ν_\ell$ form factors beyond leading power and extraction of $|V_{cb}|$ and $R(D)$

We investigate the subleading-power corrections to the exclusive $B\to D \ell ν_\ell$ form factors at ${\cal O} (α_s^0)$ in the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) framework by including the two- and three-particle higher-twist contributions from the $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes up to the twist-six accuracy, by taking into account the subleading terms in expanding the hard-collinear charm-quark propagator, and by evaluating the hadronic matrix element of the subleading effective current $\bar q \, γ_μ \, i \not\!\!{D}_\perp / (2 \, m_b) \, h_v$. Employing further the available leading-power results for the semileptonic $B \to D$ form factors at the next-to-leading-logarithmic level and combining our improved LCSR predictions with the recent lattice determinations, we then carry out a comprehensive phenomenological analysis on the semi-leptonic $B\to D \ell ν_\ell$ decay. We extract $|V_{cb}| = \big( 40.2^{+0.6}_{-0.5} {\big |_{\rm th}}\,\, {}^{+1.4}_{-1.4} {\big |_{\rm exp}} \big)\times 10^{-3}$ ($|V_{cb}| = \big( 40.9^{+0.6}_{-0.5} {\big |_{\rm th}}\,\, {}^{+1.0}_{-1.0} {\big |_{\rm exp}} \big)\times 10^{-3}$) using the BaBar (Belle) experimental data, and particularly obtain for the gold-plated ratio $R(D) = 0.302\pm 0.003$.

1D finite-width graphene nanoribbon systems: alkalization and hydrogenation

Graphene is the first truly two-dimensional (2D) material, possessing a cone-like energy spectrum near the Fermi energy and treated as a gapless semiconductor. Its unique properties trigger researchers to find more applications of it, such as high carrier mobility at room temperature, superior thermoconductivity, high modulus and tensile strength, high transparency, and anomalous quantum Hall effect. However, the gapless feature limits the development of graphene nanoelectronics. Making one-dimensional (1D) strips of graphene (i.e., graphene nanoribbons (GNRs)) could be one of the most promising approaches to modulating the electronic and optical properties of graphene. The electronic and optical properties have been theoretically predicted and experimentally verified highly sensitive to the edge and width. The tunable electronic and optical properties further imply the possibilities of GNR application. Recently, the dangling bond problem is under consideration in the GNR system. Various passivation at the ribbon edge might change the physical properties. In this work, some passivation conditions are studied, such as alkalization and hydrogenation.

Deciphering the long-distance penguin contribution to $\bar B_{d, s} \to γγ$ decays

We compute for the first time the long-distance penguin contribution to the double radiative $B$-meson decays due to the purely hadronic operators acting with the electromagnetic current in the background soft-gluon field from first field-theoretical principles by introducing a novel subleading $B$-meson distribution amplitude. The numerically dominant penguin amplitude arises from the soft-gluon radiation off the light up-quark loop rather than the counterpart charm-loop effect on account of the peculiar analytical behaviour of the short-distance hard-collinear function. Importantly the long-distance up-quark penguin contribution brings about the substantial cancellation of the known factorizable power correction possessing the same multiplication CKM parameters, thus enabling $B_{d, \, s} \to γγ$ to become new benchmark probes of physics beyond the Standard Model.

Next-to-Next-to-Leading-Order QCD Prediction for the Photon-Pion Form Factor

We accomplish the complete two-loop computation of the leading-twist contribution to the photon-pion transition form factor $γ\, γ^{\ast} \to π^0$ by applying the hard-collinear factorization theorem together with modern multi-loop techniques. The resulting predictions for the form factor indicate that the two-loop perturbative correction is numerically important. We also demonstrate that our results will play a key role in disentangling various models of the twist-two pion distribution amplitude thanks to the envisaged precision at Belle II.

QCD factorization for the four-body leptonic $B$-meson decays

Employing the QCD factorization formalism we compute $B_{u}^{-} \to γ^{\ast} \, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ form factors with an off-shell photon state possessing the virtuality of order $m_b \, Λ_{\rm QCD}$ and $m_b^2$, respectively, at next-to-leading order in QCD. Perturbative resummation for the enhanced logarithms of $m_b / Λ_{\rm QCD}$ in the resulting factorization formulae is subsequently accomplished at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy with the renormalization-group technique in momentum space. In particular, we derive the soft-collinear factorization formulae for a variety of the subleading power corrections to the exclusive radiative $B_{u}^{-} \to γ^{\ast} \, W^{\ast}$ form factors with a hard-collinear photon at ${\cal O}(α_s^{0})$. We further construct the complete set of the angular observables governing the full differential distribution of the four-body leptonic decays $B_{u}^{-} \to \ell^{\prime} \, \bar \ell^{\prime} \, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ with $\ell, \, \ell^{\prime} \in \{ e, \, μ\}$ and then perform an exploratory phenomenological analysis for a number of decay observables accessible at the LHCb and Belle II experiments, with an emphasis on the systematic uncertainties arising from the shape parameters of the leading-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude in heavy quark effective theory.

$B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude from the Euclidean quantity

A new method for the model-independent determination of the light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) of the $B$-meson in heavy quark effective theory (HQET) is proposed by combining the large momentum effective theory (LaMET) and the numerical simulation technique on the Euclidean lattice. We demonstrate the autonomous scale dependence of the non-local quasi-HQET operator with the aid of the auxiliary field approach, and further determine the perturbative matching coefficient entering the hard-collinear factorization formula for the $B$-meson quasi-distribution amplitude at the one-loop accuracy. These results will be crucial to explore the partonic structure of heavy-quark hadrons in the static limit and to improve the theory description of exclusive $B$-meson decay amplitudes based upon perturbative QCD factorization theorems.

Precision calculations of the double radiative bottom-meson decays in soft-collinear effective theory

Employing the systematic framework of soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) we perform an improved calculation of the leading-power contributions to the double radiative $B_{d, \, s}$-meson decay amplitudes in the heavy quark expansion. We then construct the QCD factorization formulae for the subleading power contributions arising from the energetic photon radiation off the constituent light-flavour quark of the bottom meson at tree level. Furthermore, we explore the factorization properties of the subleading power correction from the effective SCET current $J^{(A2)}$ at ${\cal O} (α_s^0)$. The higher-twist contributions to the $B_{d, \, s} \to γγ$ helicity form factors from the two-particle and three-particle bottom-meson distribution amplitudes are evaluated up to the twist-six accuracy. In addition, the subleading power weak-annihilation contributions from both the current-current and QCD penguin operators are taken into account at the one-loop accuracy. We proceed to apply the operator-production-expansion-controlled dispersion relation for estimating the power-suppressed soft contributions to the double radiative $B_{d, \, s}$-meson decay form factors. Phenomenological explorations of the radiative $B_{d, \, s} \to γ\, γ$ decay observables in the presence of the neutral-meson mixing, including the CP-averaged branching fractions, the polarization fractions and the time-dependent CP asymmetries, are carried out subsequently with an emphasis on the numerical impacts of the newly computed ingredients together with the theory uncertainties from the shape parameters of the HQET bottom-meson distribution amplitudes.

QCD calculations of radiative heavy meson decays with subleading power corrections

We revisit QCD calculations of radiative heavy meson decay form factors by including the subleading power corrections from the twist-two photon distribution amplitude at next-to-leading-order in $α_s$ with the method of the light-cone sum rules (LCSR). The desired hard-collinear factorization formula for the vacuum-to-photon correlation function with the interpolating currents for two heavy mesons is constructed with the operator-product-expansion technique in the presence of evanescent operators. Applying the background field approach, the higher twist corrections from both the two-particle and three-particle photon distribution amplitudes are further computed in the LCSR framework at leading-order in QCD, up to the twist-four accuracy. Combining the leading power "point-like" photon contribution at tree level and the subleading power resolved photon corrections from the newly derived LCSR, we update theory predictions for the nonperturbative couplings describing the electromagnetic decay processes of the heavy mesons $H^{\ast \, \pm} \to H^{\pm} \, γ$, $H^{\ast \, 0} \to H^{0} \, γ$, $H_s^{\ast \, \pm} \to H_s^{\pm} \, γ$ (with $H=D, \, B$). Furthermore, we perform an exploratory comparisons of our sum rule computations of the heavy-meson magnetic couplings with the previous determinations based upon different QCD approaches and phenomenological models.

Precision calculations of $B \to V$ form factors in QCD

Applying the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation functions with an interpolating current for the light vector meson we construct the light-cone sum rules (LCSR) for the "effective" form factors $ξ_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$, $ξ_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$, $Ξ_{\parallel}(τ, n \cdot p)$ and $Ξ_{\perp}(τ, n \cdot p)$, defined by the corresponding hadronic matrix elements in soft-collinear effective theory (SCET), entering the leading-power factorization formulae for QCD form factors responsible for $B \to V \ell \bar ν_{\ell}$ and $B \to V \ell \bar \ell$ decays at large hadronic recoil at next-to-leading-order in QCD. The light-quark mass effect for the local SCET form factors $ξ_{\parallel}(n \cdot p)$ and $ξ_{\perp}(n \cdot p)$ is also computed from the LCSR method with the $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitude $ϕ_B^{+}(ω, μ)$ at ${\cal O}(α_s)$. Furthermore, the subleading power corrections to $B \to V$ form factors from the higher-twist $B$-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes are also computed with the same method at tree level up to the twist-six accuracy. Having at our disposal the LCSR predictions for $B \to V$ form factors, we further perform new determinations of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ from the semileptonic $B \to ρ\, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ and $B \to ω\, \ell \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ decays, and predict the normalized differential branching fractions and the $q^2$-binned $K^{\ast}$ longitudinal polarization fractions of the exclusive rare $B \to K^{\ast} \, ν_{\ell} \, \bar ν_{\ell}$ decays.

Factorization and dispersion relations for radiative leptonic $B$ decay

Applying the dispersion approach we compute perturbative QCD corrections to the power suppressed soft contribution of $B \to γ\ell ν$ at leading twist. QCD factorization for the $B \to γ^{\ast}$ form factors is demonstrated explicitly for the hard-collinear transverse polarized photon at one loop, with the aid of the method of regions. While the one-loop hard function is identical to the matching coefficient of the QCD weak current $\bar u \, γ_{μ\perp} \, (1- γ_5) \, b$ in soft-collinear effective theory, the jet function from integrating out the hard-collinear fluctuations differs from the corresponding one entering the factorization formula of $B \to γ\ell ν$. Furthermore, we evaluate the sub-leading power contribution to the $B \to γ$ form factors from the three-particle $B$-meson distribution amplitudes (DAs) at tree level. The soft contribution to the $B \to γ$ form factors from the three-particle $B$-meson DAs is shown to be of the same power compared with the corresponding hard correction, in contrast to the two-particle counterparts. Numerically the next-to-leading-order QCD correction to the soft two-particle contribution in $B \to γ$ form factors will induce an approximately $\left (10 \sim 20 \right) \%$ shift to the tree-level contribution at $λ_B(μ_0)=354 \, {\rm MeV}$. Albeit of power suppression parametrically, the soft two-particle correction can decrease the leading power predictions for the $B \to γ$ form factors by an amount of $\left (10 \sim 30 \right) \%$ with the same value of $λ_B(μ_0)$. Employing the phenomenological model of the three-particle $B$-meson DAs inspired by a QCD sum rule analysis, the three-particle contribution to the $B \to γ$ form factors is predicted to be of ${\cal O} (1 \%)$, at leading order in $α_s$, with the default theory inputs.

Factorization, resummation and sum rules for heavy-to-light form factors

Precision calculations of heavy-to-light form factors are essential to sharpen our understanding towards the strong interaction dynamics of the heavy-quark system and to shed light on a coherent solution of flavor anomalies. We briefly review factorization properties of heavy-to-light form factors in the framework of QCD factorization in the heavy quark limit and discuss the recent progress on the QCD calculation of $B \to π$ form factors from the light-cone sum rules with the $B$-meson distribution amplitudes. Demonstration of QCD factorization for the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function used in the sum-rule construction and resummation of large logarithms in the short-distance functions entering the factorization theorem are presented in detail. Phenomenological implications of the newly derived sum rules for $B \to π$ form factors are further addressed with a particular attention to the extraction of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$.

Subleading power corrections in radiative leptonic $B$ decay

I discuss the two-particle subleading power corrections in radiative leptonic $B \to γ\ell ν$ decay at next-to-leading order in $α_s$ with the dispersion approach. Employing the method of regions, factorization of the $B \to γ^{\ast}$ form factors is demonstrated explicitly, at one loop, for a space-like hard-collinear photon. The two-particle soft (end-point) contribution is shown to be suppressed by one power of $Λ/m_b$, in the heavy quark limit, compared with the leading power contribution computed from QCD factorization. I further report the recent calculation on the three-particle subleading power contribution to the on-shell $B \to γ$ form factors at tree level and demonstrate that the "soft" and the "hard" three-particle corrections are of the same power, in contrast to the two-particle counterparts, as already speculated from the rapidity divergence in the corresponding factorization formulae. Phenomenological implications of the subleading power contributions to the $B \to γ\ell ν$ amplitude are also addressed in detail, focusing on the determination of the inverse moment of the leading-twist $B$-meson distribution amplitude.

Non-dipolar gauge links for transverse-momentum-dependent pion wave functions

I discuss the factorization-compatible definitions of transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) pion wave functions which are fundamental theory inputs entering QCD factorization formulae for many hard exclusive processes. I will first demonstrate that the soft subtraction factor introduced to remove both rapidity and pinch singularities can be greatly reduced by making the maximal use of the freedom to construct the Wilson-line paths when defining the TMD wave functions. I will then turn to show that the newly proposed TMD definition with non-dipolar Wilson lines is equivalent to the one with dipolar gauge links and with a complicated soft function, to all orders of the perturbative expansion in the strong coupling, as far as the infrared behavior is concerned.

preprint2015arXiv

Non-dipolar Wilson links for transverse-momentum-dependent wave functions

We propose a new definition of a transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) wave function with simpler soft subtraction for $k_T$ factorization of hard exclusive processes. The un-subtracted wave function involves two pieces of non-light-like Wilson links oriented in different directions, so that the rapidity singularity appearing in usual $k_T$ factorization is regularized, and the pinched singularity from Wilson-link self-energy corrections is alleviated to a logarithmic one. In particular no soft function is needed, when the two pieces of Wilson links are orthogonal to each other. We show explicitly at one-loop level that the simpler definition with the non-dipolar Wilson links exhibits the same infrared behavior as the one with the dipolar Wilson links and complicated soft subtraction. It is pointed out that both definitions reduce to the naive TMD wave function as the non-light-like Wilson links approach to the light cone. Their equivalence is then extended to all orders by considering the evolution in the Wilson-link rapidity.

Perturbative Corrections to $Λ_b \to Λ$ Form Factors from QCD Light-Cone Sum Rules

We compute radiative corrections to $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors, at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, from QCD light-cone sum rules with $Λ_b$-baryon distribution amplitudes. Employing the diagrammatic approach factorization of the vacuum-to-$Λ_b$-baryon correlation function is justified at leading power in $Λ/m_b$, with the aid of the method of regions. Hard functions entering the factorization formulae are identical to the corresponding matching coefficients of heavy-to-light currents from QCD onto soft-collinear effective theory. The universal jet function from integrating out the hard-collinear fluctuations exhibits richer structures compared with the one involved in the factorization expressions of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function. Based upon the QCD resummation improved sum rules we observe that the perturbative corrections at ${\cal O}(α_s)$ shift the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors at large recoil significantly and the dominant contribution originates from the next-to-leading order jet function instead of the hard coefficient functions. Having at hand the sum rule predictions for the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors we further investigate several decay observables in the electro-weak penguin $Λ_b \to Λ\, \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ transitions in the factorization limit (i.e., ignoring the "non-factorizable" hadronic effects which cannot be expressed in terms of the $Λ_b \to Λ$ from factors), including the invariant mass distribution of the lepton pair, the forward-backward asymmetry in the dilepton system and the longitudinal polarization fraction of the leptonic sector.

QCD corrections to $B \to π$ form factors from light-cone sum rules

We compute perturbative corrections to $B \to π$ form factors from QCD light-cone sum rules with $B$-meson distribution amplitudes. Applying the method of regions we demonstrate factorization of the vacuum-to-$B$-meson correlation function defined with an interpolating current for pion, at one-loop level, explicitly in the heavy quark limit. The short-distance functions in the factorization formulae of the correlation function involves both hard and hard-collinear scales; and these functions can be further factorized into hard coefficients by integrating out the hard fluctuations and jet functions encoding the hard-collinear information. Resummation of large logarithms in the short-distance functions is then achieved via the standard renormalization-group approach. We further show that structures of the factorization formulae for $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{B π}^{0}(q^2)$ at large hadronic recoil from QCD light-cone sum rules match that derived in QCD factorization. In particular, we perform an exploratory phenomenological analysis of $B \to π$ form factors, paying attention to various sources of perturbative and systematic uncertainties, and extract $|V_{ub}|= \left(3.05^{+0.54}_{-0.38} |_{\rm th.} \pm 0.09 |_{\rm exp.}\right) \times 10^{-3}$ with the inverse moment of the $B$-meson distribution amplitude $ϕ_B^{+}(ω)$ determined by reproducing $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2=0)$ obtained from the light-cone sum rules with $π$ distribution amplitudes. Furthermore, we present the invariant-mass distributions of the lepton pair for $B \to π\ell ν_{\ell}$ ($\ell= μ\,, τ$) in the whole kinematic region. Finally, we discuss non-valence Fock state contributions to the $B \to π$ form factors $f_{B π}^{+}(q^2)$ and $f_{B π}^{0}(q^2)$ in brief.

Anomalous Higgs couplings in angular asymmetries of H --> Zl+l- and e+e- --> HZ

We study in detail the impact of anomalous Higgs couplings in angular asymmetries of the crossing-symmetric processes H --> Zl+l- and e+e- --> HZ. Beyond Standard Model physics is parametrized in terms of the SU(3)xSU(2)_LxU(1)_Y dimension-six effective Lagrangian. In the light of present bounds on d = 6 interactions we study how angular asymmetries can reveal non-standard CP-even and CP-odd couplings. We provide approximate expressions to all observables of interest making transparent their dominant dependence on anomalous couplings. We show that some asymmetries may reveal BSM effects that are hidden in other observables. In particular, CP-even and CP-odd d = 6 HZgamma couplings as well as (to a lesser extent) HZll contact interactions can generate asymmetries at the several percent level, while having small or no effects on the di-lepton invariant mass spectrum of H --> Zl+l-. Finally, the higher di-lepton invariant mass probed in e+e- --> HZ leads to interesting differences in the asymmetries with respect to those of H --> Zl+l- that may lead to complementary anomalous coupling searches at the LHC and e+e- colliders.

B-Meson Light-Cone Distribution Amplitude: Perturbative Constraints and Asymptotic Behaviour in Dual Space

Based on the dual representation in terms of the recently established eigenfunctions of the evolution kernel in heavy-quark effective theory, we investigate the description of the B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude (LCDA) beyond tree-level. In particular, in dual space, small and large momenta do not mix under renormalization, and therefore perturbative constraints from a short-distance expansion in the parton picture can be implemented independently from non-perturbative modelling of long-distance effects. It also allows to (locally) resum perturbative logarithms from large dual momenta at fixed values of the renormalization scale. We construct a generic procedure to combine perturbative and non-perturbative information on the B-meson LCDA and compare different model functions and the resulting logarithmic moments which are the relevant hadronic parameters in QCD factorization theorems for exclusive B-meson decays.

Rapidity resummation for $B$-meson wave functions

Transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) hadronic wave functions develop light-cone divergences under QCD corrections, which are commonly regularized by the rapidity $ζ$ of gauge vector defining the non-light-like Wilson lines. The yielding rapidity logarithms from infrared enhancement need to be resummed for both hadronic wave functions and short-distance functions, to achieve scheme-independent calculations of physical quantities. We briefly review the recent progress on the rapidity resummation for $B$-meson wave functions which are the key ingredients of TMD factorization formulae for radiative-leptonic, semi-leptonic and non-leptonic $B$-meson decays. The crucial observation is that rapidity resummation induces a strong suppression of $B$-meson wave functions at small light-quark momentum, strengthening the applicability of TMD factorization in exclusive $B$-meson decays. The phenomenological consequence of rapidity-resummation improved $B$-meson wave functions is further discussed in the context of $B \to π$ transition form factors at large hadronic recoil.

Signatures of anomalous Higgs couplings in angular asymmetries of H --> Zl+l- and e+e- --> HZ

Parametrizing beyond Standard Model physics by the SU(3) x SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y dimension-six effective Lagrangian, we study the impact of anomalous Higgs couplings in angular asymmetries of the crossing-symmetric processes H --> Zl+l- and e+e- --> HZ. In the light of present bounds on d=6 couplings, we show that some asymmetries can reveal BSM effects that would otherwise be hidden in other observables. The d=6 HZgamma couplings as well as (to a lesser extent) HZll contact interactions can generate asymmetries at the several percent level, albeit having less significant effects on the di-lepton invariant mass spectrum of the decay H --> Zl+l-. The higher di-lepton invariant mass probed in e+e- --> HZ can lead to complementary anomalous coupling searches at e+e- colliders.

Joint resummation for pion wave function and pion transition form factor

We construct an evolution equation for the pion wave function in the $k_T$ factorization theorem, whose solution sums the mixed logarithm $\ln x\ln k_T$ to all orders, with $x$ ($k_T$) being a parton momentum fraction (transverse momentum). This joint resummation induces strong suppression of the pion wave function in the small $x$ and large $b$ regions, $b$ being the impact parameter conjugate to $k_T$, and improves the applicability of perturbative QCD to hard exclusive processes. The above effect is similar to those from the conventional threshold resummation for the double logarithm $\ln^2 x$ and the conventional $k_T$ resummation for $\ln^2 k_T$. Combining the evolution equation for the hard kernel, we are able to organize all large logarithms in the $γ^{\ast} π^{0} \to γ$ scattering, and to establish a scheme-independent $k_T$ factorization formula. It will be shown that the significance of next-to-leading-order contributions and saturation behaviors of this process at high energy differ from those under the conventional resummations. It implies that QCD logarithmic corrections to a process must be handled appropriately, before its data are used to extract a hadron wave function. Our predictions for the involved pion transition form factor, derived under the joint resummation and the input of a non-asymptotic pion wave function with the second Gegenbauer moment $a_2=0.05$, match reasonably well the CLEO, BaBar, and Belle data.

Light-Cone Distribution Amplitudes for Heavy-Quark Hadrons

We construct parametrizations of light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) for B-mesons and Lambda_b-baryons that obey various theoretical constraints, and which are simple to use in factorization theorems relevant for phenomenological applications in heavy-flavour physics. In particular, we find the eigenfunctions of the Lange-Neubert renormalization kernel, which allow for a systematic implementation of renormalization-group evolution effects for both B-meson and Λ_b-baryon decays. We also present a new strategy to construct LCDA models from momentum-space projectors, which can be used to implement Wandzura-Wilczek--like relations, and which allow for a comparison with theoretical approaches that go beyond the collinear limit for the light-quark momenta in energetic heavy-hadron decays.

Resummation of rapidity logarithms in $B$ meson wave functions

We construct an evolution equation for the $B$ meson wave functions in the $k_T$ factorization theorem, whose solutions sum the double logarithms associated with the light-cone singularities, namely, the rapidity logarithms. The derivation is subtler than that of the Sudakov resummation for an energetic light hadron, due to the involvement of the effective heavy-quark field. The renormalization-group evolution in the factorization scale needs to be included in order to derive an ultraviolet-finite and scale-invariant kernel for resumming the rapidity logarithms. It is observed that this kernel is similar to that of the joint resummation for QCD processes in extreme kinematic regions, which combines the threshold and $k_T$ resummations. We show that the resummation effect maintains the normalization of the $B$ meson wave functions, and strengths their convergent behavior at small spectator momentum. The resummation improved $B$ meson wave functions are then employed in the leading-order analysis of the $B\toπ$ transition form factors, which lead to approximately 25% deduction in the large recoil region.

Next-to-leading-order corrections to $B \to π$ form factors in $k_T$ factorization

We calculate next-to-leading-order (NLO) corrections to the $B\toπ$ transition form factors at leading twist in the $k_T$ factorization theorem. Light partons off-shell by $k_T^2$ are considered in the quark diagrams, in the effective diagrams for the $B$ meson wave function defined with the effective heavy-quark field, and in the effective diagrams for the pion wave function. It is explicitly demonstrated that the infrared logarithms $\ln k_T^2$ cancel between the above sets of diagrams, as deriving the $k_T$-dependent NLO hard kernel from their difference. The infrared finiteness of the hard kernel confirms the application of the $k_T$ factorization theorem to $B$ meson semileptonic decays. The NLO pion wave function is identical to those constructed from the pion transition and electromagnetic form factors, consistent with its universality. Choosing the renormalization and factorization scales lower than the $B$ meson mass, the NLO corrections are under control: they amount only up to 30% of the form factors at large recoil of the pion, when varying models for the meson wave functions.

Heavy-to-light baryonic form factors at large recoil

We analyze heavy-to-light baryonic form factors at large recoil and derive the scaling behavior of these form factors in the heavy quark limit. It is shown that only one universal form factor is needed to parameterize Lambda_b to p and Lambda_b to Lambda matrix elements in the large recoil limit of light baryons, while hadronic matrix elements of Lambda_b to Sigma transition vanish in the large energy limit of Sigma baryon due to the space-time parity symmetry. The scaling law of the soft form factor eta(P^{\prime} \cdot v), P^{\prime} and v being the momentum of nucleon and the velocity of Lambda_b baryon, responsible for Lambda_b to p transitions is also derived using the nucleon distribution amplitudes in leading conformal spin. In particular, we verify that this scaling behavior is in full agreement with that from light-cone sum rule approach in the heavy-quark limit. With these form factors, we further investigate the Lambda baryon polarization asymmetry alpha in Lambda_b to Lambda gamma and the forward-backward asymmetry A_{FB} in Lambda_b to Lambda l^{+} l^{-}. Both two observables (alpha and A_{FB}) are independent of hadronic form factors in leading power of 1/m_b and in leading order of alpha_s. We also extend the analysis of hadronic matrix elements for Omega_b to Omega transitions to rare Omega_b to Omega gamma and Omega_b to Omega l^{+} l^{-} decays and find that radiative Omega_b to Omega gamma decay is probably the most promising FCNC b to s radiative baryonic decay channel. In addition, it is interesting to notice that the zero-point of forward-backward asymmetry of Omega_b to Omega l^{+} l^{-} is the same as the one for Lambda_b to Lambda l^{+} l^{-} to leading order accuracy provided that the form factors \barζ_i (i=3, 4, 5) are numerically as small as indicated from the quark model.

Next-to-leading-order correction to pion form factor in $k_T$ factorization

We calculate next-to-leading-order (NLO) correction to the pion electromagnetic form factor at leading twist in the $k_T$ factorization theorem. Partons off-shell by $k_T^2$ are considered in both quark diagrams and effective diagrams for the transverse-momentum-dependent (TMD) pion wave function. The light-cone singularities in the TMD pion wave function are regularized by rotating the Wilson lines away from the light cone. The soft divergences from gluon exchanges among initial- and final-state partons cancel exactly. We derive the infrared-finite $k_T$-dependent NLO hard kernel for the pion electromagnetic form factor by taking the difference of the above two sets of diagrams. Varying the renormalization and factorization scales, we find that the NLO correction is smaller, when both the scales are set to the invariant masses of internal particles: it becomes lower than 40% of the leading-order (LO) contribution for momentum transfer squared $Q^2>7$ GeV$^2$. It is observed that the NLO leading-twist correction does not play an essential role in explaining the experimental data, but the LO higher-twist contribution does.

$B \to K^{\ast}_0(1430) l^{+} l^{-}$ decays in supersymmetric theories

The weak decays of $B \to K^{\ast}_0(1430) l^{+} l^{-}$ ($l=μ, τ$) are investigated in Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and also in Supersymmetric (SUSY) SO(10) Grand Unified Models. Neutral Higgs bosons are the point of main focus in MSSM because they make quite a large contribution in exclusive $B \to X_{s} l^{+} l^{-}$ decays at large $\tanβ$ regions of parameter space of SUSY models, as part of SUSY contributions is proportional to $\tan^{3}β$. The analysis of decay rate, forward-backward asymmetries and lepton polarization asymmetries in $B \to K^{\ast}_0(1430) l^{+} l^{-}$ show that the values of these physical observables are greatly modified by the effects of neutral Higgs bosons. In SUSY SO(10) GUT model, the new physics contribution comes from the operators which are induced by the neutral Higgs boson penguins and also from the operators with chirality opposite to that of the corresponding Standard Model (SM) operators. SUSY SO(10) effects show up only in the decay $B \to K^{\ast}_0 μ^{+} μ^{-}$ where the transverse lepton polarization asymmetries deviate significantly from the SM value while the effects in the decay rate, forward-backward asymmetries, the longitudinal and normal lepton polarization asymmetries are very mild. The transverse lepton polarization asymmetry is almost zero in SM and in MSSM model, whereas it can reach to -0.3 in SUSY SO(10) GUT model which could be seen at the future colliders; hence this asymmetry observable can be used to discriminate between different SUSY models.

Rare Decays of Λ_b->Λ+ γand Λ_b ->Λ+ l^{+} l^{-} in the Light-cone Sum Rules

Within the Standard Model, we investigate the weak decays of $Λ_b \to Λ+ γ$ and $Λ_b \to Λ+ l^{+} l^{-}$ with the light-cone sum rules approach. The higher twist distribution amplitudes of $Λ$ baryon to the leading conformal spin are included in the sum rules for transition form factors. Our results indicate that the higher twist distribution amplitudes almost have no influences on the transition form factors retaining the heavy quark spin symmetry, while such corrections can result in significant impacts on the form factors breaking the heavy quark spin symmetry. Two phenomenological models (COZ and FZOZ) for the wave function of $Λ$ baryon are also employed in the sum rules for a comparison, which can give rise to the form factors approximately 5 times larger than that in terms of conformal expansion. Utilizing the form factors calculated in LCSR, we then perform a careful study on the decay rate, polarization asymmetry and forward-backward asymmetry, with respect to the decays of $Λ_b \to Λγ$, $Λl^{+}l^{-}$.

Twist-3 distribution amplitudes of scalar mesons from QCD sum rules

We study the twist-3 distribution amplitudes for scalar mesons made up of two valence quarks based on QCD sum rules. By choosing the proper correlation functions, we derive the moments of the scalar mesons up to the first two order. Making use of these moments, we then calculate the first two Gegenbauer coefficients for twist-3 distribution amplitudes of scalar mesons. It is found that the second Gegenbauer coefficients of scalar density twist-3 distribution amplitudes for $K^{*}_0$ and $f_0$ mesons are quite close to that for $a_0$, which indicates that the SU(3) symmetry breaking effect is tiny here. However, this effect could not be neglected for the forth Gegenbauer coefficients of scalar twist-3 distribution amplitudes between $a_0$ and $f_0$. Besides, we also observe that the first two Gegenbauer coefficients corresponding to the tensor current twist-3 distribution amplitudes for all the $a_0$, $K^{*}_0$ and $f_0$ are very small. The renormalization group evolution of condensates, quark masses, decay constants and moments are considered in our calculations. As a byproduct, it is found that the masses for isospin I=1, ${1 \over 2}$ scalar mesons are around $1.27 \sim 1.41$ GeV and $1.44 \sim 1.56$ GeV respectively, while the mass for isospin state composed of $\bar{s} s$ is $1.62 \sim 1.73$ GeV.

Calculation of the Branching Ratio of $B^{-}\to h_{c}+K^{-}$ in PQCD

The branching ratio of $B^-\to h_c+K^-$ is re-evaluated in the PQCD approach. In this theoretical framework all the phenomenological parameters in the wavefunctions and Sudakov factor are priori fixed by fitting other experimental data, and in the whole numerical computations we do not introduce any new parameter. Our results are consistent with the upper bounds set by the Babar and Belle measurements.
