On m-sectorial extensions of sectorial operators

In our article [15] description in terms of abstract boundary conditions of all $m$-accretive extensions and their resolvents of a closed densely defined sectorial operator $S$ have been obtained. In particular, if $\{\mathcal{H},Γ\}$ is a boundary pair of $S$, then there is a bijective correspondence between all $m$-accretive extensions $\tilde{S}$ of $S$ and all pairs $\langle \mathbf{Z},X\rangle$, where $\mathbf{Z}$ is a $m$-accretive linear relation in $\mathcal{H}$ and $X:\mathrm{dom}(\mathbf{Z})\to\overline{\mathrm{ran}(S_{F})}$ is a linear operator such that: \[ \|Xe\|^2\leqslant\mathrm{Re}(\mathbf{Z}(e),e)_{\mathcal{H}}\quad\forall e\in\mathrm{dom}(\mathbf{Z}). \] As is well known the operator $S$ admits at least one $m$-sectorial extension, the Friedrichs extension. In this paper, assuming that $S$ has non-unique $m$-sectorial extension, we established additional conditions on a pair $\langle \mathbf{Z},X\rangle$ guaranteeing that corresponding $\tilde{S}$ is $m$-sectorial extension of $S$. As an application, all $m$-sectorial extensions of a nonnegative symmetric operator in a planar model of two point interactions are described.

On the mappings connected with parallel addition of nonnegative operators

We study a mapping $τ_G$ of the cone ${\mathbf B}^+({\mathcal H})$ of bounded nonnegative self-adjoint operators in a complex Hilbert space ${\mathcal H}$ into itself. This mapping is defined as a strong limit of iterates of the mapping ${\mathbf B}^+({\mathcal H})\ni X\mapstoμ_G(X)=X-X:G\in{\mathbf B}^+({\mathcal H})$, where $G\in{\mathbf B}^+({\mathcal H})$ and $X:G$ is the parallel sum. We find explicit expressions for $τ_G$ and establish its properties. In particular, it is shown that $τ_G$ is sub-additive, homogeneous of degree one, and its image coincides with set of its fixed points which is the subset of ${\mathbf B}^+({\mathcal H})$, consisting of all $Y$ such that ${\rm ran\,} Y^{1/2}\cap{\rm ran\,} G^{1/2}=\{0\}$. Relationships between $τ_G$ and Lebesgue type decomposition of nonnegative self-adjoint operator are established and applications to the properties of unbounded self-adjoint operators with trivial intersections of their domains are given.

Passive systems with a normal main operator and quasi-selfadjoint systems

Passive systems $τ={T,M,N,H}$ with $M$ and $N$ as an input and output space and $H$ as a state space are considered in the case that the main operator on the state space is normal. Basic properties are given and a general unitary similarity result involving some spectral theoretic conditions on the main operator is established. A passive system $τ$ with $M=N$ is said to be quasi-selfadjoint if $ran(T-T^*)\subset N$. The subclass $S^{qs}$ of the Schur class $S$ is the class formed by all transfer functions of quasi-selfadjoint passive systems. The subclass $S^{qs}$ is characterized and minimal passive quasi-selfadjoint realizations are studied. The connection between the transfer function belonging to the subclass $S^{qs}$ and the $Q$-function of $T$ is given.
