Pointwise convergence of sequential Schrödinger means

We study pointwise convergence of the fractional Schrödinger means along sequences $t_n$ which converge to zero. Our main result is that bounds on the maximal function $\sup_{n} |e^{it_n(-Δ)^{α/2}} f| $ can be deduced from those on $\sup_{0<t\le 1} |e^{it(-Δ)^{α/2}} f|$ when $\{t_n\}$ is contained in the Lorentz space $\ell^{r,\infty}$. Consequently, our results provide seemingly optimal results in higher dimensions, which extend the recent work of Dimou-Seeger, and Li-Wang-Yan to higher dimensions. Our approach based on a localization argument also works for other dispersive equations and provides alternative proofs of previous results on sequential convergence.

On the integrability of the wave propagator arising from the Liouville-von Neumann equation

The Liouville-von Neumann equation describes the change in the density matrix with time. Interestingly, this equation was recently regarded as a wave equation for wave functions but not a equation for density functions. This setting leads to an extended form of the Schrödinger wave equation governing the motion of a quantum particle. In this paper we obtain the integrability of the wave propagator arising from the Liouville-von Neumann equation in this setting.

Inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger's equation

Foschi and Vilela in their independent works (\cite{F},\cite{V}) showed that the range of $(1/r,1/\widetilde{r})$ for which the inhomogeneous Strichartz estimate $ \big\|\int_{0}^{t}e^{i(t-s)Δ}F(\cdot,s)ds\big\|_{L^{q}_tL^{r}_x} \lesssim \|F\|_{L^{\widetilde{q}'}_tL^{\widetilde{r}'}_x} $ holds for some $q,\widetilde{q}$ is contained in the closed pentagon with vertices $A,B,B',P,P'$ except the points $P,P'$ (see Figure 1). We obtain the estimate for the corner points $P,P'$.

The Minkowski dimension of interior singular points in the incompressible Navier--Stokes equations

We study the possible interior singular points of suitable weak solutions to the three dimensional incompressible Navier--Stokes equations. We present an improved parabolic upper Minkowski dimension of the possible singular set. It is bounded by $95/63$. The result also continue to hold for the three dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations without any difficulty.

Weak solutions for one-dimensional non-convex elastodynamics

We explore local existence and properties of classical weak solutions to the initial-boundary value problem of a one-dimensional quasilinear equation of elastodynamics with non-convex stored-energy function, a model of phase transitions in elastic bars proposed by Ericksen [19]. The instantaneous formation of microstructures of local weak solutions is observed for all smooth initial data with initial strain having its range overlapping with the phase transition zone of the Piola-Kirchhoff stress. As byproducts, it is shown that such a problem admits a local weak solution for all smooth initial data and local weak solutions that are smooth for a short period of time and exhibit microstructures thereafter for some smooth initial data. In a parallel way, we also include some results concerning one-dimensional quasilinear hyperbolic-elliptic equations.

On inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for fractional Schrödinger equations and their applications

In this paper we obtain some new inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for the fractional Schrödinger equation in the radial case. Then we apply them to the well-posedness theory for the equation $i\partial_{t}u+|\nabla|^αu=V(x,t)u$, $1<α<2$, with radial $\dot{H}^γ$ initial data below $L^2$ and radial potentials $V\in L_t^rL_x^w$ under the scaling-critical range $α/r+n/w=α$.

On weighted $L^2$ estimates for solutions of the wave equation

In this paper we consider weighted $L^2$ integrability for solutions of the wave equation. For this, we obtain some weighed $L^2$ estimates for the solutions with weights in Morrey-Campanato classes. Our method is based on a combination of bilinear interpolation and localization argument which makes use of Littlewood-Paley theorem and a property of Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions. We also apply the estimates to the problem of well-posedness for wave equations with potentials.
