Endpoint Strichartz estimates with angular integrability and some applications

The endpoint Strichartz estimate $\|e^{itΔ} f\|_{L_t^2 L_x^\infty} \lesssim \|f\|_{L^2}$ is known to be false in two space dimensions. Taking averages spherically on the polar coordinates $x=ρω$, $ρ>0$, $ω\in\mathbb{S}^1$, Tao showed a substitute of the form $\|e^{itΔ} f\|_{L_t^2L_ρ^\infty L_ω^2} \lesssim \|f\|_{L^2}$. Here we address a weighted version of such spherically averaged estimates. As an application, the existence of solutions for the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation is shown for $L^2$ data.

On the radius of spatial analyticity for the Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system

In this paper, we study the persistence of spatial analyticity for the solutions to the Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system, which describes a physical system of a nucleon field interacting with a neutral meson field, with analytic initial data. Unlike the case of a single nonlinear dispersive equation, not much is known about nonlinear dispersive systems as it is harder to show the spatial analyticity of coupled equations simultaneously. The only results known so far are rather recent ones for the Dirac-Klein-Gordon system which governs the physical system when the nucleon is described by Dirac spinor fields in the case of relativistic fields. In contrast, we aim here to study the Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system that works in the non-relativistic regime. It is shown that the radius of spatial analyticity of the solutions at later times obeys an algebraic lower bound as time goes to infinity.

Strichartz and uniform Sobolev inequalities for the elastic wave equation

We prove dispersive estimate for the elastic wave equation by which we extend the known Strichartz estimates for the classical wave equation to those for the elastic wave equation. In particular, the endpoint Strichartz estimates are deduced. For the purpose we diagonalize the symbols of the Lamé operator and its semigroup, which also gives an alternative and simpler proofs of the previous results on perturbed elastic wave equations. Furthermore, we obtain uniform Sobolev inequalities for the elastic wave operator.

On local-in-time Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation with singular potentials

There have been a lot of works concerning the Strichartz estimates for the perturbed Schrödinger equation by potential. These can be basically carried out adopting the well-known procedure for obtaining the Strichartz estimates from the weighted $L^2$ resolvent estimates for the Laplacian. In this paper we handle the Strichartz estimates without relying on the resolvent estimates. This enables us to consider various potential classes such as the Morrey-Campanato classes.

On the integrability of the wave propagator arising from the Liouville-von Neumann equation

The Liouville-von Neumann equation describes the change in the density matrix with time. Interestingly, this equation was recently regarded as a wave equation for wave functions but not a equation for density functions. This setting leads to an extended form of the Schrödinger wave equation governing the motion of a quantum particle. In this paper we obtain the integrability of the wave propagator arising from the Liouville-von Neumann equation in this setting.

On well-posedness for the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the critical case

In this paper we study the well-posedness for the inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation $i\partial_{t}u+Δu=λ|x|^{-α}|u|^βu$ in Sobolev spaces $H^s$, $s\geq0$. The well-posedness theory for this model has been intensively studied in recent years, but much less is understood compared to the classical NLS model where $α=0$. The conventional approach does not work particularly for the critical cases $β=\frac{4-2α}{d-2s}$. It is still an open problem. The main contribution of this paper is to develop the well-posedness theory in this critical case (as well as non-critical cases). To this end, we approach to the matter in a new way based on a weighted $L^p$ setting which seems to be more suitable to perform a finer analysis for this model. This is because it makes it possible to handle the singularity $|x|^{-α}$ in the nonlinearity more effectively. This observation is a core of our approach that covers the critical case successfully.

On Morawetz estimates with time-dependent weights for the Klein-Gordon equation

We obtain some new Morawetz estimates for the Klein-Gordon flow of the form \begin{equation*} \big\||\nabla|^σ e^{it \sqrt{1-Δ}}f \big\|_{L^2_{x,t}(|(x,t)|^{-α})} \lesssim \|f\|_{H^s} \end{equation*} where $σ,s\geq0$ and $α>0$. The conventional approaches to Morawetz estimates with $|x|^{-α}$ are no longer available in the case of time-dependent weights $|(x,t)|^{-α}$. Here we instead apply the Littlewood-Paley theory with Muckenhoupt $A_2$ weights to frequency localized estimates thereof that are obtained by making use of the bilinear interpolation between their bilinear form estimates which need to carefully analyze some relevant oscillatory integrals according to the different scaling of $\sqrt{1-Δ}$ for low and high frequencies.

Strichartz estimates and local regularity for the elastic wave equation with singular potentials

We obtain weighted $L^2$ estimates for the elastic wave equation perturbed by singular potentials including the inverse-square potential. We then deduce the Strichartz estimates under the sole ellipticity condition for the Lamé operator $-Δ^\ast$. This improves upon the previous result in \cite{BFRVV} which relies on a stronger condition to guarantee the self-adjointness of $-Δ^\ast$. Furthermore, by establishing local energy estimates for the elastic wave equation we also prove that the solution has local regularity.

Inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger's equation

Foschi and Vilela in their independent works (\cite{F},\cite{V}) showed that the range of $(1/r,1/\widetilde{r})$ for which the inhomogeneous Strichartz estimate $ \big\|\int_{0}^{t}e^{i(t-s)Δ}F(\cdot,s)ds\big\|_{L^{q}_tL^{r}_x} \lesssim \|F\|_{L^{\widetilde{q}'}_tL^{\widetilde{r}'}_x} $ holds for some $q,\widetilde{q}$ is contained in the closed pentagon with vertices $A,B,B',P,P'$ except the points $P,P'$ (see Figure 1). We obtain the estimate for the corner points $P,P'$.

On inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for fractional Schrödinger equations and their applications

In this paper we obtain some new inhomogeneous Strichartz estimates for the fractional Schrödinger equation in the radial case. Then we apply them to the well-posedness theory for the equation $i\partial_{t}u+|\nabla|^αu=V(x,t)u$, $1<α<2$, with radial $\dot{H}^γ$ initial data below $L^2$ and radial potentials $V\in L_t^rL_x^w$ under the scaling-critical range $α/r+n/w=α$.

On weighted $L^2$ estimates for solutions of the wave equation

In this paper we consider weighted $L^2$ integrability for solutions of the wave equation. For this, we obtain some weighed $L^2$ estimates for the solutions with weights in Morrey-Campanato classes. Our method is based on a combination of bilinear interpolation and localization argument which makes use of Littlewood-Paley theorem and a property of Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions. We also apply the estimates to the problem of well-posedness for wave equations with potentials.

From resolvent estimates to unique continuation for the Schrödinger equation

In this paper we develop an abstract method to handle the problem of unique continuation for the Schrödinger equation $(i\partial_t+Δ)u=V(x)u$. In general the problem is to find a class of potentials $V$ which allows the unique continuation. The key point of our work is to make a direct link between the problem and the weighted $L^2$ resolvent estimates $\|(-Δ-z)^{-1}f\|_{L^2(|V|)}\leq C\|f\|_{L^2(|V|^{-1})}$. We carry out it in an abstract way, and thereby we do not need to deal with each of the potential classes. To do so, we will make use of limiting absorption principle and Kato $H$-smoothing theorem in spectral theory, and employ some tools from harmonic analysis. Once the resolvent estimate is set up for a potential class, from our abstract theory the unique continuation would follow from the same potential class. Also, it turns out that there can be no dented surface on the boundary of the maximal open zero set of the solution $u$. In this regard, another main issue for us is to know which class of potentials allows the resolvent estimate. We establish such a new class which contains previously known ones, and will also apply it to the problem of well-posedness for the equation.

Global unique continuation from a half space for the Schrödinger equation

We obtain a global unique continuation result for the differential inequality $|(i\partial_t+Δ)u|\leq|V(x)u|$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. This is the first result on global unique continuation for the Schrödinger equation with time-independent potentials $V(x)$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. Our method is based on a new type of Carleman estimates for the operator $i\partial_t+Δ$ on $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. As a corollary of the result, we also obtain a new unique continuation result for some parabolic equations.

On unique continuation for Schrödinger operators of fractional and higher orders

In this note we study the property of unique continuation for solutions of $|(-Δ)^{α/2}u|\leq|Vu|$, where $V$ is in a function class of potentials including $\bigcup_{p>n/α}L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ for $n-1\leqα<n$. In particular, when $n=2$, our result gives a unique continuation theorem for the fractional ($1<α<2$) Schrödinger operator $(-Δ)^{α/2}+V(x)$ in the full range of $α$ values.
