Deformation effects on the surface neutron densities of stable S and Ni isotopes probed by proton elastic scattering via isotopic analysis

To extract structure information from proton elastic scattering off S isotopes at 320 MeV and Ni isotopes at $E_p=180$ MeV, this study proposes isotopic analyses combining nuclear structure and reaction calculations. The isotonic analysis was repeated on $^{48}$Ca and $^{50}$Ti. The structure calculations were performed by using the spherical and deformed Relativistic Hartree--Bogoliubov (RHB) calculations, and the spherical nonrelativistic Skyrme Hartree--Fock--Bogoliubov calculations. The $(p,p)$ reactions were calculated using the relativistic impulse approximation (RIA) assuming the theoretical densities of target nuclei. The RIA calculations using the target densities obtained by the RHB calculation, along with the density-dependent point-coupling interactions reasonably reproduced the $(p,p)$ cross sections in the studied mass number region. The nuclear structure and $(p,p)$ reactions were analyzed in detail; especially, the effects of deformation on the isotopic systematics of the surface densities and $(p,p)$ cross sections were clarified. The deformation effects were found to be essential to describe the isotopic systematics of the experimental $(p,p)$ cross sections. Overall, isotopic and isotonic analyses are useful for extracting the nuclear structure information such as nuclear deformations and single-particle features from proton scattering, enabling sensitive probing of surface densities.

Lattice QCD study of static quark and antiquark correlations at finite $T$ via entanglement entropies

With the aim of clarification of color correlations among quarks, we investigate the color correlation between a static quark and an antiquark (static $q\bar q$) below and above the phase transition temperature $T_c$ through the entanglement entropy(EE). By a quenched lattice QCD calculation on an anisotropic lattice adopting the standard Wilson gauge action in the Coulomb gauge, we compute a reduced density matrix $ρ$ defined in the color space, and the entanglement entropy $S_{\rm EE}$ constructed from $ρ$. The spatial volume is $L^3 = 24^3$ and the temporal extents are $N_T = 12,13,14,15,16,18,20$ and $24$, with a gauge coupling $β= 5.75$ and a renormalized anisotropy $ξ= 4.0$, which corresponds to temperatures between 180 and 370 MeV. From an analysis of $ρ$ and $S_{\rm EE}$, the color correlation between $q\bar q$ pairs is obtained as a function of the interquark distance $R$ and the temperature $T$. Below $T_c$, the $R$-dependence of the color correlation resembles that at $T=0$: the quark's color correlation gradually decreases as $R$ increases due to the color screening by in-between gluons. Above $T_c$, due to the deconfinement phase transition, the color correlation among quarks is found to quickly dissappear. Further, we investigate the color screening effect via the screening mass defined by $ρ$, and discuss the differences in the screening properties between the small and large R regions.

Effective interactions between nuclear clusters

The effective interactions between two nuclear clusters, $d+d$, $t+t$, and $α+α$, are investigated within a cluster model using local nucleon-nucleon~($NN$) forces. It is shown that the interaction in the spin-aligned $d+d$ system is repulsive for all inter-cluster distances, whereas the $α+α$ and spin-aligned $t+t$ systems are attractive at intermediate distances. The Pauli blocking between identical-nucleon pairs is responsible for the cluster-cluster repulsion and becomes dominant in the shallow binding limit. We demonstrate that two $d$-clusters could be bound if the $NN$ force has nonzero range and is strong enough to form a deeply bound $d$-cluster, or if the $NN$ force has both even-parity and odd-parity attraction. Effective dimer-dimer interactions for general quantum systems of two-component fermions are also discussed in heavy-light mass limit, where one component is much heavier than the other, and their relation to inter-cluster interactions in nuclear systems are discussed. Our findings provide a conceptual foundation for conclusions obtained numerically in the literature, that increasing the range or strength of the local part of the attractive nucleon-nucleon interaction results in a more attractive cluster-cluster interaction.

Microscopic calculation of proton and alpha-particle inelastic scattering to study the excited states of $^{6}$He and $^{8}$He

Elastic and inelastic cross sections of the $p+{}^6\textrm{He}$, $p+{}^8\textrm{He}$, and $α+{}^8\textrm{He}$ reactions were investigated using the Melbourne $g$-matrix folding approach with the theoretical densities of ${}^6\textrm{He}$ and ${}^8\textrm{He}$ obtained by a microscopic structure model of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). Microscopic coupled-channel (MCC) calculations of the $p+{}^6\textrm{He}$ and $p+{}^8\textrm{He}$ reactions were performed to investigate transition properties of the ${}^6\textrm{He}(2^+_1)$ and ${}^8\textrm{He}(2^+_1)$ states. The MCC+AMD calculations reproduced elastic cross sections of the $p+{}^6\textrm{He}$ reaction at $E=40.9$ MeV/A and of the $p+{}^8\textrm{He}$ reaction at $E=32.5$ and 72 MeV/A, which have both been measured by inverse kinematics experiments. For $p+{}^6\textrm{He}$ inelastic scattering to the $2^+_1$ state, the calculated result was in reasonable agreement with the $(p,p')$ data at $E=24.5$ and 40.9 MeV/A and supported the AMD prediction of the neutron transition matrix element $M_n=7.9$ fm$^2$. For the $p+{}^8\textrm{He}$ inelastic scattering to ${}^8\textrm{He}(2^+_1)$, the MCC+AMD calculation overshot the $(p,p')$ cross sections at $E=72$ MeV/A by a factor of three. According to a phenomenological model analysis, $M_n$ values in the range of 4--6 fm$^2$ were favored to reproduce the ${}^8\textrm{He}(2^+_1)$ cross sections of the $p+{}^8\textrm{He}$ reaction at $E=72$ MeV/A. For the $α+{}^8\textrm{He}$ reaction, the MCC+AMD calculation reproduced the elastic cross sections at $E=26$ MeV/A. Theoretical predictions of the ($p,p'$) and ($α,α'$) cross sections to the ${}^8\textrm{He}(0^+_2)$, ${}^8\textrm{He}(1^-_1)$, ${}^8\textrm{He}(2^+_3)$ and ${}^8\textrm{He}(3^-_1)$ states are also given.

Neutron dominance in excited states of $^{26}$Mg and $^{10}$Be probed by proton and alpha inelastic scattering

Isospin characters of nuclear excitations in $^{26}$Mg and $^{10}$Be are investigated via proton($p$) and alpha($α$) inelastic scattering. A structure model of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) is applied to calculate the ground and excited states of $^{26}$Mg and $^{10}$Be. The calculation describes the isoscalar feature of the ground-band $2^+_1$($K^π=0^+_1$) excitation and predicts the neutron dominance of the side-band $2^+_2$($K^π=2^+$) excitation in $^{26}$Mg and $^{10}$Be. The $p$ and $α$ inelastic scattering off $^{26}$Mg and $^{10}$Be is calculated by microscopic coupled-channel (MCC) calculations with a $g$-matrix folding approach by using the matter and transition densities of the target nuclei calculated with AMD. The calculation reasonably reproduces the observed $0^+_1$, $2^+_1$, and $2^+_2$ cross sections of $^{26}$Mg+$p$ scattering at incident energies $E_p=$24 and 40 MeV and of $^{26}$Mg+$α$ scattering at $E_α=$104 and 120 MeV. For $^{10}$Be+$p$ and $^{10}$Be+$α$ scattering, inelastic cross sections to the excited states in the $K^π=0^+_1$ ground-, $K^π=2^+$ side-, $K^π=0^+_2$ cluster-, and $K^π=1^-$ cluster-bands are investigated. The isospin characters of excitations are investigated via inelastic scattering processes by comparison of the production rates in the $^{10}$Be+$p$, $^{10}$Be+$α$, and $^{10}$C+$p$ reactions. The result predicts that the $2^+_2$ state is selectively produced by the $^{10}$Be+$p$ reaction because of the neutron dominance in the $2^+_2$ excitation as in the case of the $^{26}$Mg+$p$ scattering to the $2^+_2$ state, whereas its production is significantly suppressed in the $^{10}$C+$p$ reaction.

Probing negative-parity states of $^{24}$Mg probed via proton and alpha inelastic scattering

[Background:] The band structure of the negative-parity states of $^{24}$Mg has not yet been clarified. The $K^π=0^-$, $K^π=1^-$, and $K^π=3^-$ bands have been suggested, but the assignments have been inconsistent between experiments and theories. [Purpose:] Negative-parity states of $^{24}$Mg are investigated by microscopic structure and reaction calculations via proton and alpha inelastic scattering to clarify the band assignment for the observed negative-parity spectra. [Method:] The structure of $^{24}$Mg was calculated using the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics~(AMD). Proton and alpha inelastic reactions were calculated using microscopic coupled-channel (MCC) calculations by folding the Melbourne $g$-matrix $NN$ interaction with the AMD densities of $^{24}$Mg. [Results:] The member states of the $K^π=0^+$, $K^π=2^+$, $K^π=0^-$, $K^π=1^-$, and $K^π=3^-$ bands of $^{24}$Mg were obtained through the AMD result. In the MCC+AMD results for proton and alpha elastic and inelastic cross sections, reasonable agreements were obtained with existing data, except in the case of the $4^+_1$ state. [Conclusions:] The $3^-$ state of the $K^π=3^-$ band and the $1^-$ and $3^-$ states of the $K^π=0^-$ bands were assigned to the $3^-_1$(7.62 MeV), $1^-_1$(7.56 MeV), and $3^-_2$(8.36 MeV) states, respectively. The present AMD calculation is the first microscopic structure calculation to reproduce the energy ordering of the $K^π=0^-$, $K^π=1^-$, and $K^π=3^-$ bands of $^{24}$Mg.

Properties of $K^π=0^+_1$, $K^π=2^-$, and $K^π=0^-_1$ bands of $^{20}$Ne probed via proton and alpha inelastic scattering

The $K^π=0^+_1$, $K^π=2^-$, and $K^π=0^-_1$ bands of $^{20}$Ne are investigated with microscopic structure and reaction calculations via proton and $α$ inelastic scattering off $^{20}$Ne. Structures of $^{20}$Ne are calculated with variation after parity and total angular momentum projections in the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics(AMD). The $K^π=0^+_1$ and $K^π=0^-_1$ bands have $^{16}\textrm{O}+α$ cluster structures, whereas the $K^π=2^-$ band shows a $^{12}\textrm{C}+2α$-like structure. Microscopic coupled-channel calculations of proton and $α$ scattering off $^{20}$Ne are performed by using the proton-nucleus and $α$-nucleus potentials, which are derived by folding the Melbourne $g$-matrix $NN$ interaction with AMD densities of $^{20}$Ne. The calculation reasonably reproduces the observed cross sections of proton scattering at $E_p=25$--35 MeV and $α$ scattering at $E_α=104$--386 MeV. Transition properties from the ground to excited states are discussed by reaction analyses of proton and $α$ inelastic processes. Mixing of the $K^π=2^-$ and $K^π=0^-_1$ bands is discussed by detailed analysis of the $0^+_1\to 3^-_1$ and $0^+_1\to 3^-_2$ transitions. For the $3^-_1$ state, mixing of the $K^π=0^-_1$ cluster component in the $K^π=2^-$ band plays an important role in the transition properties.

Transition properties of low-lying states in $^{28}$Si probed via inelastic proton and alpha scattering

$0^+$, $1^-$, $2^+$, and $3^-$ excitations of $^{28}\textrm{Si}$ are investigated via proton and $α$ inelastic scattering off $^{28}\textrm{Si}$. The structure calculation of $^{28}\textrm{Si}$ is performed with the energy variation after total angular momentum and parity projections in the framework of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). As a result of the AMD calculation, the oblate ground and prolate bands, $0^+$ and $3^-$ excitations, and the $1^-$ and $3^-$ states of the $K^π=0^-$ band are obtained. Using the matter and transition densities of $^{28}\textrm{Si}$ obtained by AMD, microscopic coupled-channel calculations of proton and $α$ scattering off $^{28}\textrm{Si}$ are performed. The proton-$^{28}\textrm{Si}$ potentials in the reaction calculation are microscopically derived by folding the Melbourne $g$-matrix $NN$ interaction with the AMD densities of $^{28}\textrm{Si}$. The $α$-$^{28}\textrm{Si}$ potentials are obtained by folding the nucleon-$^{28}\textrm{Si}$ potentials with an $α$ density. The calculation reasonably reproduces the observed elastic and inelastic cross sections of proton and $α$ scattering. Transition properties are discussed by combining the reaction analysis of proton and $α$ scattering and structure features such as transition strengths and form factors. The isoscalar monopole and dipole transitions are focused.

Variation after $K$-projection in antisymmetrized molecular dynamics for low-energy dipole excitations in $^{10}$Be and $^{16}$O

For study of dipole excitations, a new method of variation after $K$-projection in the framework of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) with the deformation $β$ constraint was proposed. The method was applied to $^{10}$Be and $^{16}$O to describe low-energy dipole excitations and found to be a useful and economical approach for dipole excitations. In the application to $^{10}$Be, two dipole states in low-energy region were described. For $^{16}$O, the $1_1^-$ and $1_2^-$ states with remarkable dipole strengths were obtained. The $1_1^-$ state is characterized by significant toroidal dipole (TD) and compressional dipole strengths, whereas the $1_2^-$ has significant TD strength and shows a developed $α+ {}^{16}$O cluster structure. Dipole properties in $^{16}$O were discussed by analysis of current densities of the dipole transitions.

Cluster structures and monopole transitions of $^{14}$C

Cluster structures of $^{14}$C were investigated with a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) combined with a $3α+nn$ cluster model while focusing on the monopole excitations and linear-chain $3α$ band. Variation after parity and angular momentum projections was performed in the AMD framework, and the generator coordinate method was applied to take into account various $3α+nn$ cluster configurations. Energy spectra and monopole and $E2$ transition strengths of $0^+$, $2^+$, and $4^+$ states were calculated to assign band structures. The $0^+_3$ state with remarkable monopole transition was obtained as a vibrational mode of the triangle $3α$ configuration. In addition, the linear-chain $3α$ band from the band-head $0^+_4$ state was obtained. $^{10}$Be$+α$ decay widths of $0^+$, $2^+$, and $4^+$ states were evaluated. $α$ inelastic scattering off $^{14}$C was also investigated by the microscopic coupled-channel calculation with the $g$-matrix folding model to propose possible observation of the $0^+_3$ state via $α$ scattering experiments.

Microscopic calculation of inelastic proton scattering off $^{18}$O, $^{10}$Be, $^{12}$Be, and $^{16}$C for study of neutron excitation in neutron-rich nuclei

The microscopic coupled-channel calculation of inelastic proton scattering is performed for the study of neutron excitations in $2^+_1$ states of $^{18}$O, $^{10}$Be, $^{12}$Be, and $^{16}$C. Proton-nucleus potentials in the coupled-channel calculation are microscopically derived by folding the Melbourne $g$-matrix $NN$ interaction with matter and transition densities of target nuclei obtained by the structure model calculation of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The calculated result reasonably reproduces the elastic and inelastic proton scattering cross sections, and supports the dominant contribution of neutron in the $2^+_1$ excitation of $^{12}$Be and $^{16}$C as well as $^{18}$O. Sensitivity of the inelastic scattering cross sections to the neutron transition density is discussed. The exotic feature of the neutron transition density with the amplitude in the outer region in $^{12}$Be and $^{16}$C is focused.

$α$-cluster excited states in $^{32}$S

$α$-cluster excited states in $^{32}$S are investigated with an extended $^{28}$Si+$α$ cluster model, in which the $^{28}$Si core deformation and rotation, and the $α$-cluster breaking are incorporated. In the GCM calculation with the extended $^{28}$Si+$α$ cluster model, the $α$-cluster excited states are obtained near the $^{28}$Si+$α$ threshold energy. The $^{28}$Si core deformation and rotation effects, and also the $α$-clusters breaking in the $^{28}$Si+$α$ system are discussed. It is found that the rotation of the oblately deformed $^{28}$Si core gives a significant effect to the $α$-cluster excited states whereas the $α$-cluster breaking gives only a minor effect.

3$α$-cluster structure and monopole transition in $^{12}$C and $^{14}$C

3$α$-cluster structures and monopole transitions of $0^+$ states in $^{12}$C and $^{14}$C were investigated with $3α$- and $^{10}$Be+$α$-cluster models. A gas-like $3α$ state and a bending-chain $3α$ state were obtained in the $0^+_2$ and $0^+_3$ states of $^{12}$C, respectively. In $^{14}$C, a linear-chain 3$α$ structure is found in the $0^+_4$ state near the $^{10}$Be+$α$ threshold, but a cluster gas-like state does not appear because valence neutrons attract $α$ clusters and suppress spatial development of 3$α$ clustering. It was found that the linear-chain state in $^{14}$C is stabilized against the bending and $α$ escaping modes by valence neutrons. The monopole transition strengths in $^{12}$C are enhanced by $3α$-cluster developing, whereas, those in $^{14}$C are not enhanced so much because of the tight binding of $α$ clusters by valence neutrons.

Colored-hadron distribution in hadron scattering in SU(2) lattice QCD

In color SU(2) lattice QCD, we investigate colored-diquark distributions in two-hadron scatterings by means of Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes on the lattice. With colored-diquark operators in the Coulomb gauge, we measure components of two colored diquarks realized as intermediate states via one gluon exchange (OGE) processes in hadron scattering. From the colored-diquark distributions, we estimate the dominant range of gluon (color) exchanges between closely located two hadrons. We find that the colored-diquark components are enhanced at the short range ($\leq$0.2 fm) and their tails show the single-exponential damping. In order to distinguish the genuine colored-diquark components originating in the color exchange processes from trivial colored two-quark components contained in two color-singlet hadrons as a result of simple transformation of hadronic basis, we repeat the analyses on the artificially constructed gauge fields, where low- and high-momentum gluon components are decoupled and only restricted pair of quarks can share and exchange low-momentum gluons. We observe qualitatively the same behaviors and confirm that the short-range enhancement of the colored-diquark distributions is the genuine OGE-origin color excitation in hadron scattering.

Monopole transitions to cluster states in $^{10}$Be and $^9$Li

Isoscalar monopole transitions from the ground states to cluster states in $\Be$ and $\Li$ are investigated with $\He+α$ and $\He+t$ cluster models, respectively. In $\Be$, significant monopole strengths to $\He+α$ cluster resonances of $\Be(0^+_{3,4})$ above the $α$-decay threshold are obtained, whereas those to $\He+t$ cluster resonances in $^9$Li are not enhanced because of the large fragmentation of the strengths in the corresponding energy region. The monopole transition to $\Be(0^+_2)$ having the molecular orbital structure is relatively weak compared with those to $\He+α$ cluster resonances. Monopole strength distributions do not directly correspond to distributions of $\He(0^+)+α$ and $\He(0+)+t$ components but they reflect component of the deformed $\He$ cluster with a specific orientation, which is originally embedded in the ground state.

Probing surface distributions of $α$ clusters in $^{20}$Ne via $α$-transfer reaction

Direct evidence of the $α$-cluster manifestation in bound states has not been obtained yet, although a number of experimental studies were carried out to extract the information of the clustering. In particular in conventional analyses of $α$-transfer reactions, there exist a few significant problems on reaction models, which are insufficient to qualitatively discuss the cluster structure. We aim to verify the development of the $α$-cluster structure from observables. As the first application, we plan to extract the spatial information of the cluster structure of the $^{20}$Ne nucleus in its ground state through the cross section of the $α$-transfer reaction $^{16}$O($^6$Li,~$d$)$^{20}$Ne. For the analysis of the transfer reaction, we work with the coupled-channel Born approximation (CCBA) approach, in which the breakup effect of $^6$Li is explicitly taken into account by means of the continuum-discretized coupled-channel method based on the three-body $α+ d + {}^{16}$O model. The two methods are adopted to calculate the overlap function between $^{20}$Ne and $α+ {}^{16}$O; one is the microscopic cluster model (MCM) with the generator coordinate method, and the other is the phenomenological two-body potential model (PM). We show that the CCBA calculation with the MCM wave function gives a significant improvement of the theoretical result on the angular distribution of the transfer cross section, which is consistent with the experimental data. Employing the PM, it is discussed which region of the cluster wave function is probed on the transfer cross section. It is found that the surface region of the cluster wave function is sensitive to the cross section. The present work is situated as the first step in obtaining important information to systematically investigate the cluster structure.

Tetrahedral shape and surface density wave of $^{16}$O caused by $α$-cluster correlations

$α$-cluster correlations in the $0^+_1$ and $3^-_1$ states of $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O are studied using the method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics, with which nuclear structures are described from nucleon degrees of freedom without assuming existence of clusters. The intrinsic states of $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O have triangle and tetrahedral shapes, respectively, because of the $α$-cluster correlations. These shapes can be understood as spontaneous symmetry breaking of rotational invariance, and the resultant surface density oscillation is associated with density wave (DW) caused by the instability of Fermi surface with respect to particle-hole correlations with the wave number $λ=3$. $^{16}$O($0^+_1$) and $^{16}$O($3^-_1$) are regarded as a set of parity partners constructed from the rigid tetrahedral intrinsic state, whereas $^{12}$C($0^+_1$) and $^{12}$C($3^-_1$) are not good parity partners as they have triangle intrinsic states of different sizes with significant shape fluctuation because of softness of the $3α$ structure. $E3$ transition strengths from the $3^-_1$ to $0^+_1$ states in $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O are also discussed.

$^{10}$B+$α$ states with chain-like structures in $^{14}$N

I investigate $^{10}$B+$α$ cluster states of $^{14}$N with a $^{10}$B+$α$ cluster model. Near the $α$-decay threshold energy, I obtain $K^π=3^+$ and $K^π=1^+$ rotational bands having $^{10}$B($3^+$)+$α$ and $^{10}$B($1^+$)+$α$ components, respectively. I assign the band-head state of the $K^π=3^+$ band to the experimental $3^+$ at $E_x$=13.19 MeV of $^{14}$N observed in $α$ scattering reactions by $^{10}$B and show that the calculated $α$-decay width is consistent with the experimental data. I discuss an $α$-cluster motion around the $^{10}$B cluster and show that $^{10}$B+$α$ cluster states contain significant components of a linear-chain 3$α$ configuration, in which an $α$ cluster is localized in the longitudinal direction around the deformed $^{10}$B cluster.

Analysis of delocalization of clusters in linear-chain $α$-cluster states with entanglement entropy

I investigate entanglement entropy of one dimension (1D) cluster states to discuss the delocalization of clusters in linear-chain $3α$- and $4α$-cluster states. In analysis of entanglement entropy of 1D Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke (THSR) and Brink-Bloch cluster wave functions, I show clear differences in the entanglement entropy between localized cluster wave functions and delocalized cluster wave functions. In order to clarify spatial regions where the entanglement entropy is generated by the delocalization of clusters, I analyze the spatial distribution of entanglement entropy. In the linear-chain $3α$ cluster state, the delocalization occurs dominantly in a low-density tail region while it is relatively suppressed in an inner region because of Pauli blocking effect between clusters. In the linear-chain 4$α$ state having a larger system size than the linear-chain $3α$ state, the delocalization occurs in the whole system. The entanglement entropy is found to be a measure of the delocalization of clusters in the 1D cluster systems.

Analysis of the effect of core structure upon dineutron correlation using antisymmetrized molecular dynamics

We extend the method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics to investigate dineutron correlation. We apply this method to $^{10}$Be as an example and investigate the motion of two neutrons around a largely deformed $^8$Be core by analyzing the two-neutron overlap function around the core. We show that the core structure plays an important role in dineutron formation and expansion from the core and that the present framework is effective for the studies of dineutron correlation.

Effects of $α$-cluster breaking on 3$α$ cluster structures in $^{12}$C

To clarify the effects of $α$-cluster breaking on 3$α$ cluster structures in $^{12}$C, we investigate $^{12}$C using a hybrid model that combines the Brink-Bloch cluster model with the $p_{3/2}$ subshell closure wave function. We have found that $α$-cluster breaking caused by spin-orbit force significantly changes cluster structures of excited $0^{+}$ states through orthogonality to lower states. Spatially developed cluster components of the $0^{+}_{2}$ state are reduced. The $0^{+}_{3}$ state changes from a vibration mode in the bending motion of three $α$ clusters to a chain-like 3$α$ structure having an open triangle configuration. As a result of these structure changes of $0^{+}$ states, the band assignment for the $2^{+}_{2}$ state is changed by the $α$-cluster breaking effect. Namely, in model calculations without the $α$-cluster breaking effect, the $0^{+}_{2}$ state is assigned to be the band-head of the $2^{+}_{2}$ state. However, when we incorporate $α$-cluster breaking caused by the spin-orbit force, the $0^{+}_{3}$ state is regarded as the band-head of the $2^{+}_{2}$ state.

Entanglement entropy and Schmidt number as measures of delocalization of $α$ clusters in one-dimensional nuclear systems

We calculated the von Neumann entanglement entropy and the Schmidt number of one dimentional (1D) cluster states and showed that these are useful measures to estimate entanglement caused by delocalization of clusters. We analyze system size dependence of these entanglement measures in the linear-chain $nα$ states given by Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke wave functions for 1D cluster gas states. We show that the Schmidt number is an almost equivalent measures to the von Neumann entanglement entropy when the delocalization of clusters occurs in the entire system but it shows different behaviors in a partially delocalized state containing localized clusters and delocalized ones. It means that the Rényi-2 entanglement entropy, which relates to the Schmidt number, is found to be almost equivalent to the von Neumann entanglement entropy for the full delocalized cluster system but it is less sensitive to the partially delocalized cluster system than the von Neumann entanglement entropy. We also propose a new entanglement measure which has a generalized form of the Schmidt number. Sensitivity of these measures of entanglement to the delocalization of clusters in low-density regions was discussed.

Isoscalar monopole and dipole excitations of cluster states and giant resonances in $^{12}$C

The isoscalar monopole(ISM) and dipole(ISD) excitations in $^{12}$C are theoretically investigated with the shifted antisymmetrized molecular dynamics(AMD) plus $3α$-cluster generator coordinate method(GCM). The small amplitude vibration modes are described by coherent one-particle one-hole excitations expressed by small shift of single-nucleon Gaussian wave functions within the AMD framework, whereas the large amplitude cluster modes are incorporated by superposing $3α$-cluster wave functions in the GCM. The coupling of the excitations in the intrinsic frame with the rotation and parity transformation is taken into account microscopically by the angular-momentum and parity projections. The present calculation describes the ISM and ISD excitations in a wide energy region covering cluster modes in the low-energy region and the giant resonances in the high-energy region, though the quantitative description of the high-energy part is not satisfactory. The low-energy ISM and ISD strengths of the cluster modes are enhanced by the radial motion of $α$ clusters, and they split into a couple of states because of the angular motion of $α$ clusters. The low-energy ISM strengths exhaust 26% of the EWSR, which is consistent with the experimental data for the $^{12}$C($0^+_2$;7.65 MeV) and $^{12}$C($0^+_3$;10.3 MeV) measured by $(e,e')$, $(α,α')$, and ($^6$Li,$^6$Li$'$) scatterings. In the calculated low-energy ISD strengths, two $1^-$ states (the $1^-_1$ and $1^-_2$) with the significant strengths are obtained in $E=10-15$ MeV. It is indicated that the ISD excitations can be a good probe to experimentally search for new cluster states such as the $^{12}$C($1^-_2$) obtained in the present calculation.

Isovector and isoscalar dipole excitations in $^{9}$Be and $^{10}$Be studied with antisymmetrized molecular dynamics

Isovector and isoscalar dipole excitations in $^9$Be and $^{10}$Be are investigated in the framework of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics, in which angular-momentum and parity projections are performed. In the present method, 1p-1h excitations on the ground state and large amplitude $α$-cluster mode are incorporated. The isovector giant dipole resonance (GDR) in $E>20$ MeV shows the two peak structure which is understood by the dipole excitation in the 2$α$ core part with the prolate deformation. Because of valence neutron modes against the $2α$ core, low-energy E1 resonances appear in $E<20$ MeV exhausting about $20\%$ of the Thomas-Reiche-Kuhn sum rule and $10\%$ of the calculated energy-weighted sum. The dipole resonance at $E\sim 15$ MeV in $^{10}$Be can be interpreted as the parity partner of the ground state having a $^6$He+$α$ structure and has the remarkable E1 strength because of coherent contribution of two valence neutrons. The ISD strength for some low-energy resonances are significantly enhanced by the coupling with the $α$-cluster mode. The calculated E1 strength of $^9$Be reasonably describes the global feature of experimental photonuclear cross sections consisting of the low-energy strength in $E<20$ MeV and the GDR in $E>20$ MeV.

We investigate positive-parity states of $^{10}$B with the calculation of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics focusing on $pn$ pair correlations. We discuss effects of the spin-orbit interaction on energy spectra and $pn$ correlations of the $J^πT=1^+_10$, $=3^+_10$, and $0^+_11$ states. The $1^+_10$ state has almost no energy gain of the spin-orbit interaction, whereas the $3^+_10$ state gains the spin-orbit interaction energy largely to come down to the ground state. We interpret a part of the two-body spin-orbit interaction in the adopted effective interactions as a contribution of the genuine $NNN$ force, and find it to be essential for the level ordering of the $3^+_10$ and $1^+_10$ states in $^{10}$B. We also apply a $2α+pn$ model to discuss effects of the spin-orbit interaction on $T=0$ and $T=1$ $pn$ pairs around the 2$α$ core. In the spin-aligned $J^πT=3^+0$ state, the spin-orbit interaction affects the $(ST)=(10)$ pair attractively and keeps the pair close to the core, whereas, in the $1^+0$ state, it gives a minor effect to the $(ST)=(10)$ pair. In the $0^+1$ state, the $(ST)=(01)$ pair is somewhat dissociated by the spin-orbit interaction.

Quantum decoherence in the entanglement entropy of a composite particle and its relationship to coarse graining in the Husimi function

I investigate quantum decoherence in a one-body density matrix of a composite particle consisting of two correlated particles. Because of a two-body correlation in the composite particle, quantum decoherence occurs in the one-body density matrix that has been reduced from the two-body density matrix. As the delocalization of the distribution of the composite particle grows, the entanglement entropy increases, and the system can be well-described by a semi-classical approximation, wherein the center position of the composite particle can be regarded as a classical coordinate. I connect the quantum decoherence in the one-body density matrix of a composite particle to the coarse graining in a phase space distribution function of a single particle and associate it with the Husimi function.

2alpha+t cluster feature of $3/2^-_3$ state in $^{11}$B

We reanalyze $2α+t$ cluster features of $3/2^-$ states in $^{11}$B by investigating the $t$ cluster distribution around a $2α$ core in $^{11}$B, calculated with the method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). In the $3/2^-_3$ state, a $t$ cluster is distributed in a wide region around $2α$, indicating that the $t$ cluster moves rather freely in angular as well as radial motion. From the weak angular correlation and radial extent of the $t$ cluster distribution, we propose an interpretation of a $2α+t$ cluster gas for the $3/2^-_3$ state. In this study, we compare the $2α+t$ cluster feature in $^{11}$B($3/2^-_3$) with the $3α$ cluster feature in $^{12}$C($0^+_2$), and discuss their similarities and differences.

Approximation of reduced width amplitude and application to cluster decay width

We propose a simple method to approximately evaluate reduced width amplitude (RWA) of a two-body spinless cluster channel using the norm overlap with the Brink-Bloch cluster wave function at the channel radius. The applicability of the present approximation is tested for the $^{16}$O+$α$ channel in $^{20}$Ne as well as the $α$+$α$ channel in $^8$Be. The approximation is found to be reasonable to evaluate the RWA for states near the threshold energy and it is useful to estimate the $α$-decay width of resonance states. The approximation is also applied to $^9$Li, and the partial decay width of the $^6$He($0^+_1$)+$t$ channel is discussed.

Description of $α$-cluster tail in $^{8}$Be and $^{20}$Ne: Delocalization of $α$ cluster because of quantum penetration

We analyze the $α$-cluster wave functions in cluster states of $^8$Be and $^{20}$Ne by comparing the exact relative wave function obtained by the generator coordinate method (GCM) with various types of trial functions. For the trial functions, we adopt the fixed range shifted Gaussian of the Brink-Bloch (BB) wave function, the spherical Gaussian with the adjustable range parameter of the spherical Thosaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke (sTHSR), the deformed Gaussian of the deformed THSR (dTHSR), and a function with the Yukawa tail (YT). The quality of the description of the exact wave function with a trial function is judged by the squared overlap between the trial function and the GCM wave function. The better result is obtained with the sTHSR wave function than the BB wave function, and further improvement can be done with the dTHSR wave function because these wave functions can describe the outer tail better. The YT wave function gives almost the equal quality to or even better quality than the dTHSR wave function indicating that the outer tail of $α$ cluster states is characterized by the Yukawa-like tail rather than the Gaussian tail. In the weakly bound $α$ cluster states with the small $α$ separation energy and the low centrifugal and Coulomb barriers, the outer tail part is the slowly damping function described well by the quantum penetration through the effective barrier. This outer tail characterizes the almost zero-energy free $α$ gas behavior, i.e., the delocalization of cluster.

Gamov-Teller transitions from 14N ground to 14C ground and excited states

Gamov-Teller transitions from the $^{14}$N ground state to the $^{14}$C ground and excited states were investigated, based on the model of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The calculated strengths for the allowed transitions to the $0^+$, $1^+$, and $2^+$ states of $^{14}$C were compared with the experimental data measured by high-resolution charge-exchange reactions. The calculated GT transition to the $2^+_1$ state is strong while those to the $0^+_{2,3}$ and $2^+_{2,3}$ states having dominant $2\hbarω$ excited configurations are relatively weak. The present calculation can not describe the anonymously long life time of $^{14}$C, though the strength of the $^{14}$C ground state is somewhat suppressed because of the cluster (many-body) correlation in the ground states of $^{14}$C and $^{14}$N.

Parity mixing of pair at nuclear surface due to spin-orbit potential in $^{18}$F

We investigate the structure of $^{18}$F with the microscopic wave function based on the three-body $^{16}$O+$p$+$n$ model. In the calculation of the generator coordinate method (GCM) of the three-body model, $T=0$ energy spectra of $J^π=1^+$, $3^+$, and $5^+$ states and $T=1$ spectra of $J^π=0^+$, $2^+$ states in $^{18}$F are described reasonably. Based on the dinucleon picture, the effect of the spin-orbit force on the $T=0$ and $T=1$ $pn$ pairs around the $^{16}$O core is discussed. The $T=1$ pair in the $J^π=0^+$ state gains the spin-orbit potential energy involving the odd-parity mixing in the pair. The spin-orbit potential energy gain with the parity mixing is not so efficient for the $T=0$ pair in the $J^π=1^+$ state. The parity mixing in the pair is regarded as the internal symmetry breaking of the pair in the spin-orbit potential at the nuclear surface.

Proton radii of Be, B, and C isotopes

We investigate the neutron number $(N)$ dependence of root mean square radii of point proton distribution (proton radii) of Be, B, and C isotopes with the theoretical method of variation after spin-parity projection in the framework of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). The proton radii in Be and B isotopes changes rapidly as $N$ increases, reflecting the cluster structure change along the isotope chains, whereas, those in C isotopes show a weak $N$ dependence because of the stable proton structure in nuclei with $Z=6$. In neutron-rich Be and B isotopes, the proton radii are remarkably increased by the enhancement of the two-center cluster structure in the prolately deformed neutron structure. We compare the $N$ dependence of the calculated proton radii with the experimental ones reduced from the charge radii determined by isotope shift and those deduced from the charge changing interaction cross section. It is found that the $N$ dependence of proton radii can be a probe to clarify enhancement and weakening of cluster structures.

Adiabatic internuclear potentials obtained by energy variation with the internuclear-distance constraint

We propose a method to obtain adiabatic internuclear potentials via energy variation with the intercluster-distance constraint. The adiabatic $^{16}$O + $^{16,18}$O potentials obtained by the proposed method are applied to investigate the effects of valence neutrons in $^{16}$O + $^{18}$O sub-barrier fusions. Sub-barrier fusion cross sections of $^{16}$O + $^{18}$O are enhanced more compared to those of $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O because of distortion of valence neutrons in $^{18}$O.

Cluster states and monopole transitions in $^{16}$O

Cluster structures and monopole transitions in positive parity states of $^{16}$O were investigated based on the generator coordinate method calculation of an extended $^{12}$C+$α$ cluster model. The ground and excited states of a $^{12}$C cluster are taken into account by using $^{12}$C wave functions obtained with the method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The $0^+_2$ state of $^{16}$O and its rotational members, the $2^+_1$ and $4^+_1$ states are described well by the cluster states dominated by the $^{12}$C($0^+_1$)+$α$ structure. Above the $^{12}$C($0^+_2$)+$α$ threshold energy, we obtained a $0^+$ state having the $^{12}$C($0^+_2$)+$α$ cluster structure, which is considered to be a candidate for the $4α$ cluster gas state. The band structures were discussed based on the calculated $E2$ transition strength. Isoscalar Monopole excitations from the ground state were also discussed.

Dineutron formation and breaking in $^8$He

We discuss the correlation of the spin-singlet two-neutron pair, the dineutron correlation, in the ground and excited $0^+$ states of $^8$He by using a method to describe the dineutron correlation in neutron-rich nuclei, the dineutron condensate wave function. The shell-model configuration and the dineutron configuration compete with each other in the ground state of $^8$He. We compare the ground state structure of $^8$He with that of $^6$He and suggest that the dineutron correlation is weaker in the ground state of $^8$He than $^6$He. We also suggest the possibility of the dineutron condensation in an excited $0^+$ state of $^8$He. In addition, we investigate the formation mechanism of the dineutron condensation in $^8$He by using a newly developed framework, $α$ and dineutron condensate wave function, and conclude that the attraction from the core is essential for the formation of the dineutron condensation.

Dinucleon correlation of $^9$Li, $^{10}$Be, and $^{9,10}$C

We study the dinucleon (dineutron and diproton) correlation of the ground states of $^9$Li, $^{10}$Be, and $^{9,10}$C. We assume an $α+t$ core for $^9$Li, an $α+α$ core for $^{10}$Be and $^{10}$C, and an $α+^3$He core for $^9$C, and investigate the effect of core structure changes on the degree of dineutron formation and spatial expansion from the core. For $^9$Li, $t$ cluster breaking in the core significantly enhances the dineutron component inside the nuclei. Moreover, its component markedly depends on the strength of the spin-orbit interaction since a dineutron is fragile and dissociates readily due to the spin-orbit interaction. Compared with $^9$Li, the dineutron of $^{10}$Be dissociates largely due to the stronger spin-orbit attraction from the $α+α$ core than the $α+t$ core. We also investigate diproton features in $^{9,10}$C, the mirror nuclei of $^9$Li and $^{10}$Be, respectively, and compare them with the dineutron features of $^9$Li and $^{10}$Be. No qualitative difference is observed between diprotons and dineutrons in the degree of formation at the surface, but a quantitative difference may exist in the degree of dinucleon-size change far from the core.

Folding model analysis of the inelastic $α+^{12}$C scattering at medium energies, and the isoscalar transition strengths of the cluster states of $^{12}$C

The complex optical potential and inelastic form factor given by the folding model for the $α+^{12}$C scattering are used to calculate the ($α,α'$) cross sections for the known isoscalar states of $^{12}$C in an elaborate coupled channel approach. The strengths of the form factors for these states are then fine tuned against the ($α,α'$) data to deduce the corresponding $Eλ$ transition strengths. A significant $E2$ transition strength has been obtained for the $2^+_2$ state from the present analysis of the ($α,α'$) data measured at $E_α=240$ and 386 MeV. The $Eλ$ transition strengths of the $0^+_2,\ 3^-_1,\ 0^+_3,$ and $1^-_1$ states were also carefully deduced, and some difference from the results of earlier analyses has been found and qualitatively understood.

Mesonic and non-mesonic branching ratios of K^- absorption in the nuclear medium

The branching ratios of K^- absorption at rest in nuclear matter are evaluated from the K^- self-energy by using the chiral unitary approach for the s-wave \bar{K} N amplitude. We find that both the mesonic and non-mesonic absorption potentials are dominated by the Λ(1405) contributions. We also observe that the mesonic absorption ratio [π^{-} Σ^{+}] / [π^{+} Σ^{-}] increases as a function of nuclear density due to the interference between Λ(1405) and the I=1 non-resonant background, which is consistent with experimental results. The fraction of the non-mesonic absorption is evaluated to be about 30 % at the saturation density. The branching ratios of the K^- absorption at rest into deuteron and 4He are also calculated.

alpha-cluster correlations and symmetry breaking in light nuclei

$α$-cluster correlations in the ground states of $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O are studied. Because of the $α$ correlations, the intrinsic states of $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O have triangle and tetrahedral shapes, respectively. The deformations are regarded as spontaneous symmetry breaking of rotational invariance, and the resultant oscillating surface density is associated with a density wave (DW) state caused by the instability of Fermi surface with respect to a kind of $1p$-$1h$ correlations. To discuss the symmetry breaking between uniform density states and the oscillating density state, a schematic model of a few clusters on a Fermi gas core in a one-dimensional finite box was introduced. The model analysis suggests structure transitions from a Fermi gas state to a DW-like state via a BCS-like state, and to a Bose Einstein condensation (BEC)-like state depending on the cluster size relative to the box size. It was found that the oscillating density in the DW-like state originates in Pauli blocking effects.

Antisymmetrized molecular dynamics and its applications to cluster phenomena

Structure and reaction studies with a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) were reviewed. Applications of time-independent and time-dependent versions of the AMD were described. In applications of time-independent AMD to nuclear structure studies, structures of neutron-rich nuclei such as Be, C, Ne, and Mg isotopes were described focusing on cluster aspects. Important roles of valence neutrons were discussed. The results suggested a variety of cluster structures appear also in unstable nuclei as well as in stable nuclei. Deformation and cluster phenomena in $Z\sim N$ nuclei in $p$- and $sd$- shell regions were also discussed. Applications of time-dependent AMD contain various topics such as fragmentation in heavy-ion collisions as well as nuclear responses. The AMD calculations successfully describe multifragmentation which is one of the remarkable phenomena in heavy-ion collisions. The approach is able to link reactions and nuclear matter properties. The studies suggested the important balance between single-particle motions and correlations to form clusters and fragments.

Branching ratios of mesonic and nonmesonic antikaon absorptions in nuclear medium

The branching ratios of K^- absorption at rest in nuclear matter are theoretically investigated in order to understand the mechanism of K^- absorption into nuclei. For this purpose mesonic and nonmesonic absorption potentials are evaluated as functions of nuclear density, the kaon momentum and energy from one- and two-body K^- self-energy, respectively. By using a chiral unitary approach for the s-wave Kbar N amplitude we find that both the mesonic and nonmesonic absorption potentials are dominated by the Lambda(1405) contributions. The fraction of the mesonic and nonmesonic absorptions are evaluated to be respectively about 70% and 30% at the saturation density almost independently on the kaon momentum. We also observe different behavior of the branching ratios to pi ^+ Sigma^- and pi^- Sigma^+ channels in mesonic absorption due to the interference between Lambda(1405) and the I=1 nonresonant background, which is consistent with experimental results. The nonmesonic absorption ratios [Lambda p]/[Sigma^0 p] and [Lambda n]/[Sigma^0 n] are about unity while [Sigma^+ n]/[Sigma^0 p] and [Sigma^- p]/[Sigma^0 n] are about two due to the Lambda(1405) dominance in absorption. Taking into account the kaon momenta and energies, the absorption potentials become weaker due to the downward shift of the initial K^-N two-body energy, but this does not drastirally change the nonmesonic fraction. The Sigma(1385) contribution in the p-wave Kbar N amplitude is examined and found to be very small compared to the Lambda(1405) contribution in slow K^- absorption.

Breaking of N=8 magicity in 13Be

Structure of $^{13}$Be was investigated with antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The variation after spin and parity projections was performed. An unnatural parity $1/2^-$ state was suggested to be lower than $5/2^+$ state indicating that vanishing of the N=8 magic number occurs in $^{13}$Be. A low-lying $3/2^+$ state with a $2\hbarω$ configuration was also suggested. Developed cluster structures were found in the intruder states. Lowering mechanism of the intruder states was discussed in terms of molecular orbitals around a $2α$ core.

Cluster structures in $^{11}$B

Structures of excited states in $^{11}$B are investigated with a method of $β$-$γ$ constraint antisymmetrized molecular dynamics in combination with the generator coordinate method. Various excited states with developed cluster core structures are suggested in positive- and negative-parity states. For negative-parity states, we suggest a band with a $2α+t$ cluster structure. This band starts from the $3/2^{-}_{3}$ state and can correspond to the experimental band observed recently. In positive-parity states, two $α$ core cluster structures with surrounding nucleons are found. A $K^π=1/2^+$ band is suggested to be constructed from a remarkably developed cluster structure with a large prolate deformation. We discuss features of the cluster structure in association with molecular orbital structures of $^{10}$Be.

Novel cluster states in $^{10}$Be

Cluster structures of excited $^{10}$Be states are investigated with a hybrid model of dineutron condensate wave functions and $^6$He+$α$ cluster wave functions. Two kinds of cluster states are theoretically suggested a few MeV above the $α+α+n+n$ threshold energy. They have quite distinct cluster structure; ones have gas-like structures of $α+α$+dineutron, and the others have $^6$He+$α$ with extremely extended an $α$ cluster. Although these cluster states have not been confirmed experimentally yet, theoretically suggested properties of these states such as monopole transition strengths and $α$-decay widths may be helpful for possible experimental observation.

Separation of a Slater determinant wave function with a neck structure into spatially localized subsystems

A method to separate a Slater determinant wave function with a two-center neck structure into spatially localized subsystems is proposed, and its potential applications are presented. An orthonormal set of spatially localized single-particle wave functions is obtained by diagonalizing the coordinate operator for the major axis of a necked system. Using the localized single-particle wave functions, the wave function of each subsystem is defined. Therefore, defined subsystem wave functions are used to obtain density distributions, mass centers, and energies of subsystems. The present method is applied to separations of Margenau--Brink cluster wave functions of $α+ α$, $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O, and $α+ ^{16}$O into their subsystems, and also to separations of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics wave functions of $^{10}$Be into $α$ + $^6$He subsystems. The method is simple and applicable to the separation of general Slater determinant wave functions that have neck structures into subsystem wave functions.

A new approach to investigate dineutron correlation and its application to $^{10}$Be

We propose a new framework by means of the dineutron condensate (DC) wave function to describe the dineutron correlation, which is characterized by the spatially strong correlation of a spin-zero neutron-neutron pair, in neutron-rich nuclei with an active deformed core surrounded by valence neutrons. Using the DC wave function for a 2$α$+2n system, which corresponds to a toy model for the $^{10}$Be system, we investigate the neutron-neutron correlation around the $2α$ core and discuss the mechanism of the dineutron formation at the surface of finite nuclei. To investigate dineutron correlations in realistic nuclear systems, we superpose the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) wave functions and the DC wave functions. Applying the AMD+DC method to $^{10}$Be, we show effects of the DC wave functions in the ground and excited $0^+$ states of $^{10}$Be and discuss the dineutron correlation in them.

Alpha-cluster structure and density wave in oblate nuclei

Pentagon and triangle shapes in Si-28 and C-12 are discussed in relation with nuclear density wave. In the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics calculations, the $K^π=5^-$ band in Si-28 and the $K^π=3^-$ band in C-12 are described by the pentagon and triangle shapes, respectively. These negative-parity bands can be interpreted as the parity partners of the $K^π=0^+$ ground bands and they are constructed from the parity-asymmetric-intrinsic states. The pentagon and the triangle shapes originate in 7alpha and 3alpha cluster structures, respectively. In a mean-field picture, they are described also by the static one-dimensional density wave at the edge of the oblate states. In analysis with ideal alpha cluster models using Brink-Bloch cluster wave functions and that with a simplified model, we show that the static edge density wave for the pentagon and triangle shapes can be understood by spontaneous breaking of axial symmetry, i.e., the instability of the oblate states with respect to the edge density wave. The density wave is enhanced in the Z=N nuclei due to the proton-neutron coherent density waves, while it is suppressed in Z\ne N nuclei.

Be-$α$ correlations in the linear-chain structure of C isotopes

We investigate the linear-chain structures in highly excited states of $^{14}$C using a generalized molecular orbital model, by which we incorporate an asymmetric configuration of three $α$ clusters in the linear-chain states. By applying this model to the $^{14}$C system, we study the $^{10}$Be+$α$ correlation in the linear-chain state of $^{14}$C. To clarify the origin of the $^{10}$Be+$α$ correlation in the $^{14}$C linear-chain state, we analyze linear $3α$ and $3α+n$ systems in a similar way. We find that a linear 3$α$ system prefers the asymmetric 2$α+α$ configuration, whose origin is the many body correlation incorporated by the parity projection. This configuration causes an asymmetric mean field for two valence neutrons, which induces the concentration of valence neutron wave functions around the correlating 2$α$. A linear-chain structure of $^{16}$C is also discussed.

Cluster formations in deformed states for $^{28}$Si and $^{32}$S

We study cluster formation in strongly deformed states for $^{28}$Si and $^{32}$S using a macroscopic-microscopic model. The study is based on calculated total-energy surfaces, which are the sums of deformation-dependent macroscopic-microscopic potential-energy surfaces and rotational-energy contributions. We analyze the angular-momentum-dependent total-energy surfaces and identify the normal- and super-deformed states in $^{28}$Si and $^{32}$S, respectively. We show that at sufficiently high angular momenta strongly deformed minima appear. The corresponding microscopic density distributions show cluster structure that closely resemble the $^{16}$O+$^{12}$C and $^{16}$O+$^{16}$O configurations. At still higher deformations, beyond the minima, valleys develop in the calculated surfaces. These valleys lead to mass divisions that correspond to the target-projectile configurations for which molecular resonance states have been observed. We discuss the relation between the one-body deformed minima and the two-body molecular-resonance states.

Proton dominance in the 2^+_2 -> 0^+_1 transition of N = Z\pm 2 nuclei around Si-28

E2 transitions in Si-30 are investigated in relation with intrinsic deformations based on a method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. By comparing E2 transition strengths in the mirror nuclei Si-30 and S-30, transition matrix amplitudes M_p and M_n for protons and neutrons are discussed in mirror analysis. Particular attention is paid to the M_n/M_p ratio in the transition from the 2^+_2 state to the 0^+_1 state. The M_n/M_p ratio in Mg-26 and Si-26 is also investigated. Two-neutron correlations in microscopic wave functions of He-6, He-8 and C-12

Two-neutron densities obtained from microscopic wave functions of $^6$He and $^8$He are investigated to reveal di-neutron correlations. In particular, the comparison of the two-neutron density with the product of one-neutron densities is useful for a quantitative discussion of di-neutron correlations. The calculations show that the S=0 spatial two-neutron correlation increases at the surface of $^6$He$(0^+_1)$ and $^8$He$(0^+_2)$. The enhancement is remarkable in the $^6$He$(0^+_1)$ ground state but not as prominent in the $^8$He$(0^+_1)$ ground state. Hadron-hadron interaction from SU(2) lattice QCD

We evaluate interhadron interactions in two-color lattice QCD from Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes on the Euclidean lattice. The simulations are performed in quenched SU(2) QCD with the plaquette gauge action at $β= 2.45$ and the Wilson quark action. We concentrate on S-wave scattering states of two scalar diquarks. Evaluating different flavor combinations with various quark masses, we try to find out the ingredients in hadronic interactions. Between two scalar diquarks ($u Cγ_5 d$, the lightest baryon in SU(2) system), we observe repulsion in short-range region, even though present quark masses are not very light. We define and evaluate the "quark-exchange part" in the interaction, which is induced by adding quark-exchange diagrams, or equivalently, by introducing Pauli blocking among some of quarks. The repulsive force in short-distance region arises only from the "quark-exchange part", and disappears when quark-exchange diagrams are omitted. We find that the strength of repulsion grows in light quark-mass regime and its quark-mass dependence is similar to or slightly stronger than that of the color-magnetic interaction by one-gluon-exchange (OGE) processes. It is qualitatively consistent with the constituent-quark model picture that a color-magnetic interaction among quarks is the origin of repulsion. We also find a universal long-range attractive force, which enters in any flavor channels of two scalar diquarks and whose interaction range and strength are quark-mass independent. The weak quark-mass dependence of interaction ranges in each component implies that meson-exchange contributions are small and subdominant, and the other contributions, {\it ex.} flavor exchange processes, color-Coulomb or color-magnetic interactions, are considered to be predominant, in the quark-mass range we evaluated.

Hindrance of the excitation of the Hoyle state and the ghost of the $2^+_2$ state in $^{12}$C

While the Hoyle state (the isoscalar $0^+_2$ excitation at 7.65 MeV in $^{12}$C) has been observed in almost all the electron and $α$ inelastic scattering experiments, the second $2^+$ excited state of $^{12}$C at $E_{\rm x}\approx 10$ MeV, believed to be an excitation of the Hoyle state, has not been clearly observed in these measurements excepting the high-precision \aap experiments at $E_α=240$ and 386 MeV. Given the (spin and isospin zero) $α$-particle as a good probe for the nuclear isoscalar excitations, it remains a puzzle why the peak of the $2^+_2$ state could not be clearly identified in the measured \aap spectra. To investigate this effect, we have performed a microscopic folding model analysis of the \ac scattering data at 240 and 386 MeV in both the Distorted Wave Born Approximation (DWBA) and coupled-channel (CC) formalism, using the nuclear transition densities given by the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) approach and a complex CDM3Y6 density dependent interaction. Although AMD predicts a very weak transition strength for the direct $(0^+_1\to 2^+_2)$ excitation, our detailed analysis has shown evidence that a weak \emph{ghost} of the $2^+_2$ state could be identified in the 240 MeV \aap data for the $0^+_3$ state at 10.3 MeV, when the CC effects by the indirect excitation of the $2^+_2$ state are taken into account. Based on the same AMD structure input and preliminary \aap data at 386 MeV, we have estimated relative contributions from the $2^+_2$ and $0^+_3$ states to the excitation of $^{12}$C at $E_{\rm x}\approx 10$ MeV as well as possible contamination by $3^-_1$ state.

Quadrupole Deformation $β$ and $γ$ Constraint in a Framework of Antisymmetrized Molecular Dynamics

We propose a new method of the $β$-$γ$ constraint for quadrupole deformation in antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD) to describe various cluster and shell-model structures in the ground and excited states of light nuclei. We apply this method to N=6 isotones, $^{10}$Be, $^{12}$C, $^{9}$Li, and $^{11}$B, and find various structures as functions of the deformation parameters, $β$ and $γ$. In these nuclei, shell-model-like structures appear in the small $β$ region, while cluster structures develop well in the large $β$ region where various geometric configurations of clusters are obtained depending on the $γ$ parameter. For $^{10}$Be and $^{12}$C, we superpose the basis AMD wave functions obtained by the $β$-$γ$ constraint method to calculate energy spectra, and prove the advantages of the present method of the two-dimensional $β$-$γ$ constraint in the framework of AMD.

Superdeformed (SD) states in $^{40}$Ar have been studied using the deformed-basis antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. Low energy states were calculated by the parity and angular momentum projection (AMP) and the generator coordinate method (GCM). Basis wave functions were obtained by the energy variation with a constraint on the quadrupole deformation parameter $β$, while other quantities such as triaxiality $γ$ were optimized by the energy variation. By the GCM calculation, an SD band was obtained just above the ground state (GS) band. The SD band involves a $K^π= 2^+$ side band due to the triaxiality. The calculated electric quadrupole transition strengths of the SD band reproduce the experimental values appropriately. Triaxiality is significant for understanding low-lying states.

A new N* resonance as a hadronic molecular state

We report our recent work on a hadronic molecule state of the KbarKN system with I=1/2 and J^P=1/2^+. We assume that the Lambda(1405) resonance and the scalar mesons, f_{0}(980), a_{0}(980), are reproduced as quasi-bound states of KbarN and KbarK, respectively. Performing non-relativistic three-body calculations with a variational method for this system, we find a quasibound state of the KbarKN system around 1910 MeV below the three-body breakup threshold. This state corresponds to a new baryon resonance of N* with J^P=1/2^+. We find also that this resonance has the cluster structure of the two-body bound states keeping their properties as in the isolated two-particle systems. We also briefly discuss another hadronic molecular state composed by two Kbar and one N, which corresponds to a Xi^* resonance.

Dineutron correlations in quasi two-dimensional systems in a simplified model and possible relation to neutron-rich nuclei

Two-neutron correlation in the $^1S$ channel in quasi two-dimensional (2D) neutron systems at zero temperature is studied by means of the BCS theory with finite-range effective nuclear forces. The dineutron correlation in low density neutron systems confined in an infinite slab is investigated in a simplified model that neutron motion of one direction is frozen. When the slab is thin enough, two neutrons form a tightly bound dineutron with a small size in the quasi-2D system, and a Bose dineutron gas is found in low density limit. With increase of Fermi momentum, the neutron system changes from the Bose-gas phase to the superfluid Cooper pair phase. The density dependence of the neutron pairing shows the BCS-BEC crossover phenomena at finite low-density region. In the transition region, the size shrinking of neutron pair and enhancement of pairing gap are found. The relation to dineutron correlation at surface of neutron-rich nuclei is also discussed.

Gamow-Teller transitions from $^{9,11}$Li to $^{9,11}$Be

Gamow-Teller(GT) transitions in the $β$ decays of $^9$Li and $^{11}$Li are investigated with theoretical calculations of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The calculated $B(GT)$ values are small for transitions to low-lying states in Be isotopes, while relatively large $B(GT)$ values are found for excited states at excitation energy $E_x\ge 10$ MeV. Sum of the $B(GT)$ values are discussed for each spin parity of final states. The calculated results seem to be inconsistent with the experimental report of the strongest GT-transition from $^9$Li to the $5/2^-$ state at 11.8 MeV of $^9$Be.

Lambda(1405) N to Y N transition in nuclear medium for non-mesonic absorption of Kbar in nucleus

Non-mesonic transition of Lambda(1405) N to YN is investigated as one of the essential processes for the non-mesonic absorption of Kbar in nuclei. Using one-meson exchange model in the calculation of the transition, we find that the non-mesonic transition ratio Gamma_{Lambda N} / Gamma_{Sigma N} depends strongly on the ratio of the Lambda(1405) (Lambda^*) couplings to Kbar N and pi Sigma. Especially a larger Lambda^*-Kbar N coupling leads to enhancement of the transition to Lambda N. Using the chiral unitary model for the description of the Lambda^*, we obtain Gamma_{Lambda N} / Gamma_{Sigma^{0} N} is approximately 1.2 which is almost independent of the nucleon density, and find the total non-mesonic decay width of the Lambda^* in uniform nuclear matter to be 22 MeV at the normal density.
