Bi-Mem: Bidirectional Construction of Hierarchical Memory for Personalized LLMs via Inductive-Reflective Agents

Constructing memory from users' long-term conversations overcomes LLMs' contextual limitations and enables personalized interactions. Recent studies focus on hierarchical memory to model users' multi-granular behavioral patterns via clustering and aggregating historical conversations. However, conversational noise and memory hallucinations can be amplified during clustering, causing locally aggregated memories to misalign with the user's global persona. To mitigate this issue, we propose Bi-Mem, an agentic framework ensuring hierarchical memory fidelity through bidirectional construction. Specifically, we deploy an inductive agent to form the hierarchical memory: it extracts factual information from raw conversations to form fact-level memory, aggregates them into thematic scenes (i.e., local scene-level memory) using graph clustering, and infers users' profiles as global persona-level memory. Simultaneously, a reflective agent is designed to calibrate local scene-level memories using global constraints derived from the persona-level memory, thereby enforcing global-local alignment. For coherent memory recall, we propose an associative retrieval mechanism: beyond initial hierarchical search, a spreading activation process allows facts to evoke contextual scenes, while scene-level matches retrieve salient supporting factual information. Empirical evaluations demonstrate that Bi-Mem achieves significant improvements in question answering performance on long-term personalized conversational tasks.

GLM-5V-Turbo: Toward a Native Foundation Model for Multimodal Agents

We present GLM-5V-Turbo, a step toward native foundation models for multimodal agents. As foundation models are increasingly deployed in real environments, agentic capability depends not only on language reasoning, but also on the ability to perceive, interpret, and act over heterogeneous contexts such as images, videos, webpages, documents, GUIs. GLM-5V-Turbo is built around this objective: multimodal perception is integrated as a core component of reasoning, planning, tool use, and execution, rather than as an auxiliary interface to a language model. This report summarizes the main improvements behind GLM-5V-Turbo across model design, multimodal training, reinforcement learning, toolchain expansion, and integration with agent frameworks. These developments lead to strong performance in multimodal coding, visual tool use, and framework-based agentic tasks, while preserving competitive text-only coding capability. More importantly, our development process offers practical insights for building multimodal agents, highlighting the central role of multimodal perception, hierarchical optimization, and reliable end-to-end verification.

GPS-Synchronized Monitoring of Core-collapse Supernova Bursts with PandaX-4T via Coherent Elastic Neutrino Nuclear Scattering

The landmark detection of neutrinos from SN1987A marked the dawn of neutrino astrophysics. The neutrino burst provided essential insights into fundamental properties of neutrinos, and served as key probes of stellar evolution and supernova dynamics. The recent advancement in coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering enables the detection of core-collapse supernova burst neutrinos using tonne-scale liquid xenon detectors originally designed for dark matter direct detection. Leveraging this capability, we developed and deployed an online supernova monitoring system for the PandaX-4T experiment. This system features a GPS module with millisecond-level timing precision, a low false-alarm rate, and high sensitivity to galactic core-collapse supernova explosion events. The methodology is robust, directly scalable, and planned for implementation in the next-generation PandaX-20T experiment.

How You Begin is How You Reason: Driving Exploration in RLVR via Prefix-Tuned Priors

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) recently thrives in large language model (LLM) reasoning tasks. However, the reward sparsity and the long reasoning horizon make effective exploration challenging. In practice, this challenge manifests as the \emph{entropy collapse} phenomenon, where RLVR improves single-rollout accuracy but fails to expand coverage on successful reasoning trajectories. Passive exploration techniques like entropy regularization tend to dismiss generation quality, resulting in noisy rollouts. In response to this issue, we propose an Information-Maximizing Augmented eXploration (IMAX) framework to train a pool of soft prefixes that reshapes the base model's prior over reasoning trajectories. Rather than relying on RL to incentivize exploration on top of the base model, each prefix acts as a trainable control knob that induces a distinct rollout distribution from the same backbone model. To encourage discovery of diverse and task-relevant reasoning behaviors, we derive an Information Maximization (InfoMax) reward to complement the verifiable rewards for RL training. IMAX is in general algorithm-agnostic and can be seamlessly integrated into existing RLVR pipelines. Experiment results have shown that across three backbone scales, IMAX consistently improves reasoning performance over standard RLVR, with gains up to 11.60\% in Pass@4 and 10.57\% in Avg@4.

Reframing Conversational Design in HRI: Deliberate Design with AI Scaffolds

Large language models (LLMs) have enabled conversational robots to move beyond constrained dialogue toward free-form interaction. However, without context-specific adaptation, generic LLM outputs can be ineffective or inappropriate. This adaptation is often attempted through prompt engineering, which is non-intuitive and tedious. Moreover, predominant design practice in HRI relies on impression-based, trial-and-error refinement without structured methods or tools, making the process inefficient and inconsistent. To address this, we present the AI-Aided Conversation Engine (ACE), a system that supports the deliberate design of human-robot conversations. ACE contributes three key innovations: 1) an LLM-powered voice agent that scaffolds initial prompt creation to overcome the "blank page problem," 2) an annotation interface that enables the collection of granular and grounded feedback on conversational transcripts, and 3) using LLMs to translate user feedback into prompt refinements. We evaluated ACE through two user studies, examining both designs' experience and end users' interactions with robots designed using ACE. Results show that ACE facilitates the creation of robot behavior prompts with greater clarity and specificity, and that the prompts generated with ACE lead to higher-quality human-robot conversational interactions.

Rotate Your Character: Revisiting Video Diffusion Models for High-Quality 3D Character Generation

Generating high-quality 3D characters from single images remains a significant challenge in digital content creation, particularly due to complex body poses and self-occlusion. In this paper, we present RCM (Rotate your Character Model), an advanced image-to-video diffusion framework tailored for high-quality novel view synthesis (NVS) and 3D character generation. Compared to existing diffusion-based approaches, RCM offers several key advantages: (1) transferring characters with any complex poses into a canonical pose, enabling consistent novel view synthesis across the entire viewing orbit, (2) high-resolution orbital video generation at 1024x1024 resolution, (3) controllable observation positions given different initial camera poses, and (4) multi-view conditioning supporting up to 4 input images, accommodating diverse user scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RCM outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both novel view synthesis and 3D generation quality.

A multi-scale sampling method for accurate and robust deep neural network to predict combustion chemical kinetics

Machine learning has long been considered as a black box for predicting combustion chemical kinetics due to the extremely large number of parameters and the lack of evaluation standards and reproducibility. The current work aims to understand two basic questions regarding the deep neural network (DNN) method: what data the DNN needs and how general the DNN method can be. Sampling and preprocessing determine the DNN training dataset, further affect DNN prediction ability. The current work proposes using Box-Cox transformation (BCT) to preprocess the combustion data. In addition, this work compares different sampling methods with or without preprocessing, including the Monte Carlo method, manifold sampling, generative neural network method (cycle-GAN), and newly-proposed multi-scale sampling. Our results reveal that the DNN trained by the manifold data can capture the chemical kinetics in limited configurations but cannot remain robust toward perturbation, which is inevitable for the DNN coupled with the flow field. The Monte Carlo and cycle-GAN samplings can cover a wider phase space but fail to capture small-scale intermediate species, producing poor prediction results. A three-hidden-layer DNN, based on the multi-scale method without specific flame simulation data, allows predicting chemical kinetics in various scenarios and being stable during the temporal evolutions. This single DNN is readily implemented with several CFD codes and validated in various combustors, including (1). zero-dimensional autoignition, (2). one-dimensional freely propagating flame, (3). two-dimensional jet flame with triple-flame structure, and (4). three-dimensional turbulent lifted flames. The results demonstrate the satisfying accuracy and generalization ability of the pre-trained DNN. The Fortran and Python versions of DNN and example code are attached in the supplementary for reproducibility.

Facial Affect Analysis: Learning from Synthetic Data & Multi-Task Learning Challenges

Facial affect analysis remains a challenging task with its setting transitioned from lab-controlled to in-the-wild situations. In this paper, we present novel frameworks to handle the two challenges in the 4th Affective Behavior Analysis In-The-Wild (ABAW) competition: i) Multi-Task-Learning (MTL) Challenge and ii) Learning from Synthetic Data (LSD) Challenge. For MTL challenge, we adopt the SMM-EmotionNet with a better ensemble strategy of feature vectors. For LSD challenge, we propose respective methods to combat the problems of single labels, imbalanced distribution, fine-tuning limitations, and choice of model architectures. Experimental results on the official validation sets from the competition demonstrated that our proposed approaches outperformed baselines by a large margin. Providers-Clients-Robots: Framework for spatial-semantic planning for shared understanding in human-robot interaction

This paper develops a novel framework called Providers-Clients-Robots (PCR), applicable to socially assistive robots that support research on shared understanding in human-robot interactions. Providers, Clients, and Robots share an actionable and intuitive representation of the environment to create plans that best satisfy the combined needs of all parties. The plans are formed via interaction between the Client and the Robot based on a previously built multi-modal navigation graph. The explainable environmental representation in the form of a navigation graph is constructed collaboratively between Providers and Robots prior to interaction with Clients. We develop a realization of the proposed framework to create a spatial-semantic representation of an indoor environment autonomously. Moreover, we develop a planner that takes in constraints from Providers and Clients of the establishment and dynamically plans a sequence of visits to each area of interest. Evaluations show that the proposed realization of the PCR framework can successfully make plans while satisfying the specified time budget and sequence constraints and outperforming the greedy baseline.

PyTSK: A Python Toolbox for TSK Fuzzy Systems

This paper presents PyTSK, a Python toolbox for developing Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy systems. Based on scikit-learn and PyTorch, PyTSK allows users to optimize TSK fuzzy systems using fuzzy clustering or mini-batch gradient descent (MBGD) based algorithms. Several state-of-the-art MBGD-based optimization algorithms are implemented in the toolbox, which can improve the generalization performance of TSK fuzzy systems, especially for big data applications. PyTSK can also be easily extended and customized for more complicated algorithms, such as modifying the structure of TSK fuzzy systems, developing more sophisticated training algorithms, and combining TSK fuzzy systems with neural networks. RecipeSnap -- a lightweight image-to-recipe model

In this paper we want to address the problem of automation for recognition of photographed cooking dishes and generating the corresponding food recipes. Current image-to-recipe models are computation expensive and require powerful GPUs for model training and implementation. High computational cost prevents those existing models from being deployed on portable devices, like smart phones. To solve this issue we introduce a lightweight image-to-recipe prediction model, RecipeSnap, that reduces memory cost and computational cost by more than 90% while still achieving 2.0 MedR, which is in line with the state-of-the-art model. A pre-trained recipe encoder was used to compute recipe embeddings. Recipes from Recipe1M dataset and corresponding recipe embeddings are collected as a recipe library, which are used for image encoder training and image query later. We use MobileNet-V2 as image encoder backbone, which makes our model suitable to portable devices. This model can be further developed into an application for smart phones with a few effort. A comparison of the performance between this lightweight model to other heavy models are presented in this paper. Code, data and models are publicly accessible on github.

Guided Variational Autoencoder for Disentanglement Learning

We propose an algorithm, guided variational autoencoder (Guided-VAE), that is able to learn a controllable generative model by performing latent representation disentanglement learning. The learning objective is achieved by providing signals to the latent encoding/embedding in VAE without changing its main backbone architecture, hence retaining the desirable properties of the VAE. We design an unsupervised strategy and a supervised strategy in Guided-VAE and observe enhanced modeling and controlling capability over the vanilla VAE. In the unsupervised strategy, we guide the VAE learning by introducing a lightweight decoder that learns latent geometric transformation and principal components; in the supervised strategy, we use an adversarial excitation and inhibition mechanism to encourage the disentanglement of the latent variables. Guided-VAE enjoys its transparency and simplicity for the general representation learning task, as well as disentanglement learning. On a number of experiments for representation learning, improved synthesis/sampling, better disentanglement for classification, and reduced classification errors in meta-learning have been observed.

Ladybird: Quasi-Monte Carlo Sampling for Deep Implicit Field Based 3D Reconstruction with Symmetry

Deep implicit field regression methods are effective for 3D reconstruction from single-view images. However, the impact of different sampling patterns on the reconstruction quality is not well-understood. In this work, we first study the effect of point set discrepancy on the network training. Based on Farthest Point Sampling algorithm, we propose a sampling scheme that theoretically encourages better generalization performance, and results in fast convergence for SGD-based optimization algorithms. Secondly, based on the reflective symmetry of an object, we propose a feature fusion method that alleviates issues due to self-occlusions which makes it difficult to utilize local image features. Our proposed system Ladybird is able to create high quality 3D object reconstructions from a single input image. We evaluate Ladybird on a large scale 3D dataset (ShapeNet) demonstrating highly competitive results in terms of Chamfer distance, Earth Mover's distance and Intersection Over Union (IoU).

Rethinking Exposure Bias In Language Modeling

Exposure bias describes the phenomenon that a language model trained under the teacher forcing schema may perform poorly at the inference stage when its predictions are conditioned on its previous predictions unseen from the training corpus. Recently, several generative adversarial networks (GANs) and reinforcement learning (RL) methods have been introduced to alleviate this problem. Nonetheless, a common issue in RL and GANs training is the sparsity of reward signals. In this paper, we adopt two simple strategies, multi-range reinforcing, and multi-entropy sampling, to amplify and denoise the reward signal. Our model produces an improvement over competing models with regards to BLEU scores and road exam, a new metric we designed to measure the robustness against exposure bias in language models.

Thompson Sampling for Combinatorial Semi-bandits with Sleeping Arms and Long-Term Fairness Constraints

We study the combinatorial sleeping multi-armed semi-bandit problem with long-term fairness constraints~(CSMAB-F). To address the problem, we adopt Thompson Sampling~(TS) to maximize the total rewards and use virtual queue techniques to handle the fairness constraints, and design an algorithm called \emph{TS with beta priors and Bernoulli likelihoods for CSMAB-F~(TSCSF-B)}. Further, we prove TSCSF-B can satisfy the fairness constraints, and the time-averaged regret is upper bounded by $\frac{N}{2η} + O\left(\frac{\sqrt{mNT\ln T}}{T}\right)$, where $N$ is the total number of arms, $m$ is the maximum number of arms that can be pulled simultaneously in each round~(the cardinality constraint) and $η$ is the parameter trading off fairness for rewards. By relaxing the fairness constraints (i.e., let $η\rightarrow \infty$), the bound boils down to the first problem-independent bound of TS algorithms for combinatorial sleeping multi-armed semi-bandit problems. Finally, we perform numerical experiments and use a high-rating movie recommendation application to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
