Uniform boundedness for finite Morse index solutions to supercritical semilinear elliptic equations

We consider finite Morse index solutions to semilinear elliptic questions, and we investigate their smoothness. It is well-known that: - For $n=2$, there exist Morse index $1$ solutions whose $L^\infty$ norm goes to infinity. - For $n \geq 3$, uniform boundedness holds in the subcritical case for power-type nonlinearities, while for critical nonlinearities the boundedness of the Morse index does not prevent blow-up in $L^\infty$. In this paper, we investigate the case of general supercritical nonlinearities inside convex domains, and we prove an interior a priori $L^\infty$ bound for finite Morse index solution in the sharp dimensional range $3\leq n\leq 9$. As a corollary, we obtain uniform bounds for finite Morse index solutions to the Gelfand problem constructed via the continuity method. [In the previous version, the proof of Proposition A.1 was not complete. Indeed, Lemma A.2 was proved only for estimates centered at the origin, and Footnote 9 claimed that the same estimates hold at every point; however, no complete proof was provided for this extension. In the current version, Lemma A.2 is restricted to estimates at the origin, and the boundedness at arbitrary points is obtained by combining the results in [9] with the new version of Lemma A.2. This avoids the need to extend Lemma A.2 to arbitrary centers and yields a complete proof of Proposition A.1.]

Interior Hölder regularity for stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations up to dimension 5

Let $2\le n\le 5$. We establish an apriori interior Hölder regularity of $C^2$-stable solutions to the semilinear equation $-Δu=f(u)$ in any domain of $R^n$ for any nonlinearity $f\in C^{0,1}(R) $.If $f $ is nondecreasing and convex in addition,we obtain an interior Hölder regularity, and hence the local boundedness, of $W^{1,2}(Ω)$-stable solutions by locally approximating them via $C^2(Ω)$-stable solutions. In particular, we do not require any lower bound on $f$.

Duality of capacities and Sobolev extendability in the plane

We reveal relations between the duality of capacities and the duality between Sobolev extendability of Jordan domains in the plane, and explain how to read the curve conditions involvd in the Sobolev extendability of Jordan domains via the duality of capacities. Finally as an application, we give an alternative proof of the necessary condition for a Jordan planar domain to be $W^{1, q}$-extension domain when $2 < q < \infty$.

A density problem for Sobolev spaces on Gromov hyperbolic domains

We prove that for a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb R^n$ which is Gromov hyperbolic with respect to the quasihyperbolic metric, especially when $Ω$ is a finitely connected planar domain, the Sobolev space $W^{1,\,\infty}(Ω)$ is dense in $W^{1,\,p}(Ω)$ for any $1\le p<\infty$. Moreover if $Ω$ is also Jordan or quasiconvex, then $C^{\infty}(\mathbb R^n)$ is dense in $W^{1,\,p}(Ω)$ for $1\le p<\infty$.

A quasiconformal composition problem for the Q-spaces

Given a quasiconformal mapping $f:\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^n$ with $n\ge2$, we show that (un-)boundedness of the composition operator ${\bf C}_f$ on the spaces $Q_α(\mathbb R^n)$ depends on the index $α$ and the degeneracy set of the Jacobian $J_f$. We establish sharp results in terms of the index $α$ and the local/global self-similar Minkowski dimension of the degeneracy set of $J_f$. This gives a solution to [Problem 8.4, 3] and also reveals a completely new phenomenon, which is totally different from the known results for Sobolev, BMO, Triebel-Lizorkin and Besov spaces. Consequently, Tukia-Väisälä's quasiconformal extension $f:\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^n$ of an arbitrary quasisymmetric mapping $g:\mathbb R^{n-p}\to \mathbb R^{n-p}$ is shown to preserve $Q_α (\mathbb R^n)$ for any $(α,p)\in (0,1)\times[2,n)\cup(0,1/2)\times\{1\}$. Moreover, $Q_α(\mathbb R^n)$ is shown to be invariant under inversions for all $0<α<1$.
