ReMA: A Training-Free Plug-and-Play Mixing Augmentation for Video Behavior Recognition

Video behavior recognition demands stable and discriminative representations under complex spatiotemporal variations. However, prevailing data augmentation strategies for videos remain largely perturbation-driven, often introducing uncontrolled variations that amplify non-discriminative factors, which finally weaken intra-class distributional structure and representation drift with inconsistent gains across temporal scales. To address these problems, we propose Representation-aware Mixing Augmentation (ReMA), a plug-and-play augmentation strategy that formulates mixing as a controlled replacement process to expand representations while preserving class-conditional stability. ReMA integrates two complementary mechanisms. Firstly, the Representation Alignment Mechanism (RAM) performs structured intra-class mixing under distributional alignment constraints, suppressing irrelevant intra-class drift while enhancing statistical reliability. Then, the Dynamic Selection Mechanism (DSM) generates motion-aware spatiotemporal masks to localize perturbations, guiding them away from discrimination-sensitive regions and promoting temporal coherence. By jointly controlling how and where mixing is applied, ReMA improves representation robustness without additional supervision or trainable parameters. Extensive experiments on diverse video behavior benchmarks demonstrate that ReMA consistently enhances generalization and robustness across different spatiotemporal granularities.

Operational detection of entanglement via quantum designs

From an operational point of view, we propose several new entanglement detection criteria using quantum designs. These criteria are constructed by considering the correlations defined with quantum designs. Counter-intuitively, the criteria with more settings are exactly equivalent to the corresponding ones with the minimal number of settings, namely the symmetric informationally complete positive operator-valued measures (SIC POVMs). Fundamentally, this observation highlights the potentially unique role played by SIC POVMs in quantum information processing. Experimentally, this provides the minimal number of settings that one should choose for detecting entanglement. Furthermore, we find that nonlinear criteria are not always better than linear ones for the task of entanglement detection.

Theoretical and experimental study on Noise Equivalent Power of X-ray semiconductor ultra-fast response material based on the rad-optic effect

Semiconductor material based on the rad-optic effect enables ultra-fast detection of X-rays and plays an important role in fusion diagnostics. Obtaining the accurate noise equivalent power (NEP) of the semiconductor ultrafast response material is the key to detecting X-rays. In this paper, the refractive index change mechanism of the semiconductor under X-ray irradiation was analyzed, and the quantitative relationship between the diffraction efficiency and the X-ray photon energy was established through the LT-AlGaAs diffraction imaging experiments. The impulse responses of LT-AlGaAs under 1 KeV-10 KeV X-ray radiation were calculated, revealing the variation of NEP density with radiated photon energy. In the case of bombarding the Al target to generate 1.5 KeV X-rays, the imaging experiments of LT-AlGaAs were performed. The diffraction image of LT-AlGaAs has a linear relationship with the radiation intensity, and the NEP density of LT-AlGaAs reaches 4.80*105W/cm2. This study has reference significance for the development of ultra-fast X-ray imaging systems based on the rad-optic effect.

Counterfactual Samples Synthesizing for Robust Visual Question Answering

Despite Visual Question Answering (VQA) has realized impressive progress over the last few years, today's VQA models tend to capture superficial linguistic correlations in the train set and fail to generalize to the test set with different QA distributions. To reduce the language biases, several recent works introduce an auxiliary question-only model to regularize the training of targeted VQA model, and achieve dominating performance on VQA-CP. However, since the complexity of design, current methods are unable to equip the ensemble-based models with two indispensable characteristics of an ideal VQA model: 1) visual-explainable: the model should rely on the right visual regions when making decisions. 2) question-sensitive: the model should be sensitive to the linguistic variations in question. To this end, we propose a model-agnostic Counterfactual Samples Synthesizing (CSS) training scheme. The CSS generates numerous counterfactual training samples by masking critical objects in images or words in questions, and assigning different ground-truth answers. After training with the complementary samples (ie, the original and generated samples), the VQA models are forced to focus on all critical objects and words, which significantly improves both visual-explainable and question-sensitive abilities. In return, the performance of these models is further boosted. Extensive ablations have shown the effectiveness of CSS. Particularly, by building on top of the model LMH, we achieve a record-breaking performance of 58.95% on VQA-CP v2, with 6.5% gains.

Featureless quantum spin liquid, 1/3-magnetization plateau state and exotic thermodynamic properties of spin-1/2 frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnet on an infinite Husimi lattice

By utilizing tensor-network-based methods, we investigate the zero- and finite-temperature properties of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic (HAF) model on an infinite Husimi lattice that contains 3/2 sites per triangle. The ground state of this model is found to possess vanishing local magnetization and is featureless; the spin-spin and dimer-dimer correlation functions are verified to decay exponentially; and its ground-state energy per site is determined to be $e_0=-0.4343(1)$, which is very close to that [$e_0=-0.4386(5)$] of the intriguing kagome HAF model. The magnetization curve shows the absence of a zero-magnetization plateau, implying a gapless excitation. A $1/3$-magnetization plateau with spin up-up-down state is observed, which is selected and stabilized by quantum fluctuations. A ground state phase diagram under magnetic fields is presented. Moreover, both magnetic susceptibility and the specific heat are studied, whose low-temperature behaviors reinforce the conclusion that the HAF model on the infinite Husimi lattice owns a gapless and featureless spin liquid ground state.

Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition and reentrance in an anisotropic 3-state Potts model on the generalized Kagome lattice

The unusual reentrant phenomenon is observed in the anisotropic 3-state Potts model on a gen- eralized Kagome lattice. By employing the linearized tensor renormalization group method, we find that the reentrance can appear in the region not only under a partial ordered phase as commonly known but also a phase without a local order parameter, which is uncovered to fall into the uni- versality of the Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) type. The region of the reentrance depends strongly on the ratios of the next nearest couplings α = J2 /|J1 | and β = J3 /|J1 |. The phase diagrams in the plane of temperature versus β for different α are obtained. Through massive calculations, it is also revealed that the quasi-entanglement entropy can be used to accurately detect the KT transition temperature.

Phase Diagrams, Distinct Conformal Anomalies and Thermodynamics of Spin-1 Bond-Alternating Heisenberg Antiferromagnetic Chain in Magnetic Fields

The ground state phase diagrams and thermodynamic properties of a spin-1 bond-alternating Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain with a single-ion anisotropy in longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are investigated jointly by means of the infinite time evolving block decimation, the linearized tensor renormalization group and the density matrix renormalization group methods. It is found that in the magnetic field-bond alternating ratio plane six phases such as singlet dimer, Haldane, two Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, 1/2 magnetization plateau and spin polarized phases are identified in a longitudinal field, while in a transverse field there are fives phases including singlet dimer, Haldane, Z$_2$ symmetry breaking, quasi-1/2 magnetization plateau and quasi spin polarized phases. A reentrant behavior of the staggered magnetization in a transverse field is observed. The quantum critical behaviors in longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are disclosed to fall into different universality classes with corresponding conformal field central charge $c=1$ and 1/2, respectively. The experimental data of the compound NTENP under both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are nicely fitted, and the Luttinger liquid behavior of low temperature specific heat experimentally observed is also confirmed.
