Composite nature of $Z_b$ states from data analysis

We use a near-threshold parameterization with explicit inclusion of the Castillejo-Dalitz-Dyson poles, which is more general than the effective range expansion, to study the bottomonium-like states $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$. In terms of the partial-wave amplitude, we fit the event number distribution of $B^{(*)}\bar B^*$ system to the experimental data for these resonances from Belle Collaboration. The data could be described very well in our method, which supports the molecular interpretation. Then the relevant physical quantities are obtained, including the $B^{(*)}\bar{B}^*$ scattering length ($a$), effective range ($r$), and residue squared ($γ_s^2$) of the pole in the complex plane. In particular, we find the compositeness can range from about 0.4 up to 1 for the $B\bar B^*$ ($B^*\bar B^*$) component in the resonance $Z_b(10610)$ ($Z_b(10650)$).

Forward-backward asymmetries in $Λ_b \rightarrow Λl^+ l^-$ in Bethe-Salpeter equation approach

Using the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) we investigate the forward-backward asymmetries $( A_{FB}) $ in $Λ_b \rightarrow Λl^+ l^-(l=e,μ,τ)$ in the quark-diquark model. This approach provides precise form factors that are different from those of QCD sum rules. We calculate the rare decay form factors for $Λ_b \rightarrow Λl^+ l^-$ and investigate the (integrated) forward-backward asymmetries in these decay channels. We find that the integrated $A^l_{FB}$, $\bar{A}^l_{FB}(Λ_b \rightarrow Λe^+ e^-) \simeq -0.1371 $, $\bar{A}^l_{FB}(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^- ) \simeq -0.1376 $, $\bar{A}^l_{FB}(Λ_b \rightarrow Λτ^+ τ^-) \simeq -0.1053 $, the hadron side asymmetries $\bar{A}^h_{FB}(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^-)\simeq -0.2315$, the lepton-hadron side asymmetries $\bar{A}^{lh}_{FB}(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^-)\simeq 0.0827$, the longitudinal polarization fractions $\bar{F}_L(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^-)\simeq 0.5681$.

Investigation of the possible $D\bar{D}^*$/$B\bar{B}^*$ and $DD^*$/$\bar{B}\bar{B}^*$ molecule states

In this work, we systematically study the $D\bar{D}^*$/$B\bar{B}^*$ and $DD^*$/$\bar{B}\bar{B}^*$ systems with the Bethe-Salpeter equation in the ladder and instantaneous approximations for the kernel. By solving the Bethe-Salpeter equation numerically with the kernel containing the direct and crossed one particle-exchange diagrams and introducing three different form factors (monopole, dipole, and exponential form factors) at the vertices, we find only the isoscalar $D\bar{D}^*$/$B\bar{B}^*$ and $DD^*$/$\bar{B}\bar{B}^*$ systems can exist as bound states. This indicate that the $X(3872)$ and $T^+_{cc}$ could be accommodated as $I^G(J^{PC})=0^+(1^{++})$ $D\bar{D}^*$ and $(I)J^P =(0)1^+$ $DD^*$ molecular states while the molecular state explanations for $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ are excluded.

The impact of $a_0^0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing on the localized $CP$ violations of the $B^-\rightarrow K^- π^+π^-$ decay

In the framework of the QCD factorization approach, we study the localized $CP$ violations of the $B^-\rightarrow K^- π^+π^-$ decay with and without $a_0^0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing mechanism, respectively, and find that the localized $CP$ violation can be enhanced by this mixing effect when the mass of the $π^+π^-$ pair is in the vicinity of the $f_0(980)$ resonance. The corresponding theoretical prediction results are $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(B^-\rightarrow K f_0 \rightarrow K^-π^+π^-)=[0.24, 0.36]$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(B^-\rightarrow K^- f_0(a_0) \rightarrow K^-π^+π^-)=[0.33, 0.52]$, respectively. Meanwhile, we also calculate the branching fraction of the $B^-\rightarrow K^-f_0(980)\rightarrow K^-π^+π^-$ decay, which is consistent with the experimental results. We suggest that $a_0^0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing mechanism should be considered when studying the $CP$ violation of the $B$ or $D$ mesons decays theoretically and experimentally.

FCNC transitions of $Λ_b$ to neutron in Bethe-Salpeter equation approach

In a covariant quark-diquark model, we investigate the rare decay of $Λ_b \rightarrow n l^+ l^-$ and $Λ_b \rightarrow n γ$ in the Bethe-Salpeter equation approach. In this model the baryons are treated as bound states of a constituent quark and a diquark interacting via a gluon exchange and the linear confinement. We find that the ratio of form factors $R$ is varies from $-0.90$ to $-0.25$ and the branching ratios $Br(Λ_b \rightarrow n l^+ l^-)\times 10^{8}$ are $6.79(l=e),~4.08 ~ (l=μ),~2.9 ~(l=τ) $ and the branching ratio $Br(Λ_b \rightarrow γ)\times 10^{7} )=3.69$ in central values of parameters.

Studying the $D_1D$ molecule in the Bethe-Salpeter equation approach

We study the possible bound states of the $D_1D$ system in the Bethe-Salpeter (BS) formalism in the ladder and instantaneous approximations. By solving the BS equation numerically with the kernel containing one-particle exchange diagrams and introducing three different form factors (monopole, dipole, and exponential form factors) at the vertices, we investigate whether the isoscalar and isovector $D_1D$ bound states may exist, respectively. We find that $Y(4260)$ could be accommodated as a $D_1D$ molecule, whereas the interpretation of $Z_2^+(4250)$ as a $D_1D$ molecule is disfavored. The bottom analog of $Y(4260)$ may exist but that of $Z_2^+(4250)$ does not.

Rare $Λ_b \rightarrow Λl^+ l^- $ decay in the Bethe-Salpeter equation approach

We study the rare decays $Λ_b \rightarrow Λl^+ l^-~(l=e,μ, τ)$ in the Bethe-Salpeter equation approach. We find that depending on the values of parameters in our model the branching ratio $Br(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^-)\times 10^{6}$ varies from $0.812$ to $1.445$ when $κ= 0.050 \sim 0.060$ GeV$^3$ and the binding energy $E_0=-0.14$ GeV while $Br(Λ_b \rightarrow Λμ^+ μ^-)\times 10^{6}$ varies from $1.051$ to $1.098$ when $κ= 0.055$ Gev$^3$ and the binding energy $E_0$ changes from $-0.19$ to $-0.09$ GeV. These results agree with the experimental data. In the same parameter regions, we find that the branching ratio $Br(Λ_b \rightarrow Λe^+ e^-(τ^+ τ^-) )\times 10^{6}$ varies in the range $0.660-1.028$ ($0.252-0.392$) and $0.749-1.098$ ($0.286-0.489$), respectively.

Detection of supernova neutrinos at spallation neutron sources

After considering the supernova shock effects, the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein effects, the neutrino collective effects, and the Earth matter effects, the detection of supernova neutrinos at China Spallation Neutron Sources is studied and the event numbers of different flavor supernova neutrinos observed through various reaction channels are calculated with the neutrino energy spectra described by the Fermi-Dirac distribution and "beta fit" distribution respectively. Furthermore, the numerical calculation method of supernova neutrino detection on the Earth is applied to some other spallation neutron sources, and the total event numbers of supernova neutrinos observed through different reactions channels are given.

Localized direct CP violation in $B^\pm\rightarrow ρ^0 (ω)π^\pm\rightarrow π^+ π^-π^\pm$

We study the localized direct CP violation in the hadronic decays $B^\pm\rightarrow ρ^0 (ω)π^\pm\rightarrowπ^+ π^-π^\pm$, including the effect caused by an interesting mechanism involving the charge symmetry violating mixing between $ρ^0$ and $ω$. We calculate the localized integrated direct CP violation when the low invariant mass of $π^+π^-$ [$m(π^+π^-)_{low}$] is near $ρ^0(770)$. For five models of form factors investigated, we find that the localized integrated direct CP violation varies from -0.0170 to -0.0860 in the ranges of parameters in our model when $0.750<m(π^+π^-)_{low}<0.800$\,GeV. This result, especially the sign, agrees with the experimental data and is independent of form factor models. The new experimental data shows that the signs of the localized integrated CP asymmetries in the regions $0.470<m(π^+π^-)_{low}<0.770$\,GeV and $0.770<m(π^+π^-)_{low}<0.920$\,GeV are positive and negative, respectively. We find that $ρ$-$ω$ mixing makes the localized integrated CP asymmetry move towards the negative direction, and therefore contributes to the sign change in those two regions. This behavior is also model independent. We also calculate the localized integrated direct CP violating asymmetries in the regions $0.470<m(π^+π^-)_{low}<0.770$\,GeV and $0.770<m(π^+π^-)_{low}<0.920$\,GeV and find that they agree with the experimental data in some models of form factors.

Masses of doubly and triply charmed baryons

Until now, the first reported doubly charmed baryon $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$ is still a puzzle. It was discovered and confirmed by SELEX collaboration, but not confirmed by LHCb, BABAR, BELLE, FOCUS, or any other collaboration. In the present paper, by employing Regge phenomenology, we first express the mass of the ground state ($L$=0) doubly charmed baryon $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ as a function of masses of the well established light baryons and singly charmed baryons. Inserting the recent experimental data, the mass of $Ω_{cc}^{*+}$ is given to be 3809$\pm$36 MeV, which is independent of any unobservable parameters. Then, with the quadratic mass relations, we calculate the masses of the ground state triply charmed baryon $Ω_{ccc}^{++}$ and doubly charmed baryons $Ξ_{cc}^{(*)++}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{(*)+}$, and $Ω_{cc}^{+}$ (the mass of $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$ is determined as 3520$^{+41}_{-40}$ MeV, which agrees with the mass of $Ξ_{cc}^{+}(3520)$). The isospin splitting $M_{Ξ_{cc}^{++}} - M_{Ξ_{cc}^{+}} = 0.4 \pm 0.3$ MeV. After that, masses of the orbitally excited ($L$=1,2,3) doubly and triply charmed baryons are estimated. The results are reasonable comparing with those extracted in many other approaches. We suggest more efforts to study doubly and triply charmed baryons both theoretically and experimentally, not only for the abundance of baryon spectra, but also for numerically examining whether the linear mass relations or the quadratic mass relations are realized in nature. Our predictions are useful for the discovery of unobserved doubly and triply charmed baryon states and the $J^P$ assignment of these states.

Neutrino Physics with JUNO

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator detector, was proposed with the determination of the neutrino mass hierarchy as a primary physics goal. It is also capable of observing neutrinos from terrestrial and extra-terrestrial sources, including supernova burst neutrinos, diffuse supernova neutrino background, geoneutrinos, atmospheric neutrinos, solar neutrinos, as well as exotic searches such as nucleon decays, dark matter, sterile neutrinos, etc. We present the physics motivations and the anticipated performance of the JUNO detector for various proposed measurements. By detecting reactor antineutrinos from two power plants at 53-km distance, JUNO will determine the neutrino mass hierarchy at a 3-4 sigma significance with six years of running. The measurement of antineutrino spectrum will also lead to the precise determination of three out of the six oscillation parameters to an accuracy of better than 1\%. Neutrino burst from a typical core-collapse supernova at 10 kpc would lead to ~5000 inverse-beta-decay events and ~2000 all-flavor neutrino-proton elastic scattering events in JUNO. Detection of DSNB would provide valuable information on the cosmic star-formation rate and the average core-collapsed neutrino energy spectrum. Geo-neutrinos can be detected in JUNO with a rate of ~400 events per year, significantly improving the statistics of existing geoneutrino samples. The JUNO detector is sensitive to several exotic searches, e.g. proton decay via the $p\to K^++\barν$ decay channel. The JUNO detector will provide a unique facility to address many outstanding crucial questions in particle and astrophysics. It holds the great potential for further advancing our quest to understanding the fundamental properties of neutrinos, one of the building blocks of our Universe.

Possible large $CP$ violation in three body decays of heavy baryon

We propose a new mechanism which can introduce large $CP$ asymmetries in the phase spaces of three-body decays of heavy baryons. In this mechanism, a large $CP$ asymmetry is induced by the interference of two intermediate resonances, which subsequently decay into two different combinations of final particles. We apply this mechanism to the decay channel $Λ_b^0 \to p π^0π^-$, and find that the differential $CP$ asymmetry can reach as large as $50\%$, while the regional $CP$ asymmetry can reach as large as $16\%$ in the interference region of the phase space.

$CP$ violation for $B^{0}\rightarrow ρ^{0}(ω)ρ^{0}(ω) \rightarrow π^+π^-π^+π^-$ in QCD factorization

In the QCD factorization (QCDF) approach we study the direct $CP$ violation in $\bar{B}^{0}\rightarrowρ^0(ω)ρ^0(ω)\rightarrowπ^+π^-π^+π^-$ via the $ρ-ω$ mixing mechanism. We find that the $CP$ violation can be enhanced by double $ρ-ω$ mixing when the masses of the $π^+π^-$ pairs are in the vicinity of the $ω$ resonance, and the maximum $CP$ violation can reach 28{\%}. We also compare the results from the naive factorization and the QCD factorization.

Direct CP violation in $τ^\pm\rightarrow K^\pm ρ^0 (ω)ν_τ\rightarrow K^\pm π^+π^-ν_τ$

We study the direct CP violation in the $τ^\pm\rightarrow K^\pm ρ^0 (ω)ν_τ\rightarrow K^\pm π^+π^-ν_τ$ decay process in the Standard Model. An interesting mechanism involving the charge symmetry violating mixing between $ρ^0$ and $ω$ is applied to enlarge the CP asymmetry. With this mechanism, the maximum differential and localized integrated CP asymmetries can reach $-(5.6^{+2.9}_{-1.7})\times10^{-12}$ and $6.3^{+2.4}_{-3.3}\times 10^{-11}$, respectively, which still leave plenty room for CP-violating New Physics to be discovered through this process.

Effects of Shock Waves on Neutrino Oscillations in Three Supernova Models

It has been realized that the shock wave effects play an important role in neutrino oscillations during the supernova explosion. In recent years, with the development of simulations about supernova explosion, we have a better understanding about the density profiles and the shock waves in supernovae than before. It has been shown that the appearance of shock waves not only varies with time, but is also affected by the mass of the supernova. When the mass of the supernova happens to be in a certain range (e.g. it equals 10.8 times the mass of the sun), there might be a reverse shock wave, another sudden change of density except the forward shock wave, emerging in the supernova. In addition, there are some other time-dependent changes of density profiles in different supernova models. Because of these complex density profiles, the expression of the crossing probability at the high resonance, $P_H$, which we used previously would be no longer applicable. In order to get more accurate and reasonable results, we use the data of density profiles in three different supernova models obtained from simulations to study the variations of $P_s$ (the survival probability of $ν_e\rightarrowν_e$), as well as $P_c$ (the conversion probability of $ν_x\rightarrowν_e$). It is found that the mass of the supernova does make a difference on the behavior of $P_s$, and affects $P_c$ at the same time. With the results of $P_s$ and $P_c$, we can estimate the number of $ν_e$ remained after they go through the matter in the supernova.

CP violation in $B^{\pm} \rightarrow π^{\pm}π^{+}π^{-}$ in the region with low invariant mass of one $π^{+}π^{-}$ pair

Recently, the large CP asymmetries in $B^\pm\toπ^\pmπ^+π^-$ decays were found by the LHCb Collaboration to localize in the region $m_{π^+π^-}^2<0.4 \text{GeV}^2$. We find such large localized CP asymmetries may be due to the interference between a light scalar and $ρ^0(770)$ intermediate resonances. Consequently, we argue that the distribution of CP asymmetries in the Dalitz plots of three-body B decays could be very helpful for identifying the presence of the scalar resonance.

CP violation induced by the interference of scalar and vector resonances in three-body decays of bottom mesons

Large CP violation is an interesting phenomenon both theoretically and experimentally. Last year, LHCb Collaboration found in some three-body decays of bottom mesons that large CP violations appear in regions of the Dalitz plots that are not dominated by contributions from narrow resonances. In this paper, we present a mechanism which can induce such kind of large CP violations. In this mechanism, large localized CP asymmetries in phase space can be induced by the interference of two intermediate resonances with different spins. We also apply this mechanism to the decay channel $B^\pm\to K^\pm π^+π^-$.

Detection of supernova neutrinos on the Earth for large theta13

Supernova (SN) neutrinos detected on the Earth are subject to the shock wave effects, the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) effects, the neutrino collective effects and the Earth matter effects. Considering the recent experimental result about the large mixing angle $θ_{13}$ ($\backsimeq8.8^{\circ}$) provided by the Daya Bay Collaboration and applying the available knowledge for the neutrino conversion probability in the high resonance of SN, $P_{H}$, which is in the form of hypergeometric function in the case of large $θ_{13}$, we deduce the expression of $P_{H}$ taking into account the shock wave effects. It is found that $P_{H}$ is not zero in a certain range of time due to the shock wave effects. After considering all the four physical effects and scanning relevant parameters, we calculate the event numbers of SN neutrinos detected at the Daya Bay experiment. From the numerical results, it is found that the behaviors of neutrino event numbers detected on the Earth depend on the neutrino mass hierarchy and neutrino spectrum parameters including the temperature $T_α$, the dimensionless pinching parameter $η_α$ or $β_α$ (where $α$ refers to neutrino flavor), the average energy $< E_α>$, and the SN neutrino luminosities $L_α$. We also compare the results of two parametrization methods for the neutrino energy distributions and give the ranges of SN neutrino event numbers that will be detected at the Daya Bay experiment.

Production of charged $ρ$ meson in bottom hadron charmed decays and the effect of the finite width correction of the $ρ$ meson

We calculate the branching ratio of a bottom hadron decaying into a charmed hadron and a charged $ρ$ meson within the QCD factorization approach. We consider the effect of the finite width correction of the $ρ$ meson. Our numerical calculation shows an obvious correction because of this effect. We find that the finite width effect of the $ρ$ meson reduces the branching ratios by about 9% to 11% for bottom meson decay channels: $B^+\to\bar{D^0}ρ^+$, $B^0\to D^-ρ^+$, and $B^0_s\to D^-_sρ^+$, and increases the branching ratio by about 10% for $Λ_b^0\toΛ_c^+ρ^-$.

Electron-positron pair production in an arbitrary polarized ultrastrong laser field

Electron-positron pair production in an arbitrary polarized ultrastrong laser field is investigated in the first order perturbation approximation in which the Volkov states are used for convenient calculation of scattering amplitude and cross section. It is found surprisingly that the optimal pair production depends strongly on the polarization. For some cases of field parameters, the optimal field is elliptically polarized or evenly circularly polarized one, rather than the usual linear polarization as indicated by previous works. Some insights into pair generation are given and some interesting unexpected features are also discussed briefly.

Perturbative and nonperturbative contributions to the strange quark asymmetry in the nucleon

There are two mechanisms for the generation of an asymmetry between the strange and anti-strange quark distributions in the nucleon: nonperturbative contributions originating from nucleons fluctuating into virtual baryon-meson pairs such as $ΛK$ and $ΣK$, and perturbative contributions arising from gluons splitting into strange and anti-strange quark pairs. While the nonperturbative contributions are dominant in the large-$x$ region, the perturbative contributions are more significant in the small-$x$ region. We calculate this asymmetry taking into account both nonperturbative and perturbative contributions, thus giving a more accurate evaluation of this asymmetry over the whole domain of $x$. We find that the perturbative contributions are generally a few times larger in magnitude than the nonperturbative contributions, which suggests that the best region to detect this asymmetry experimentally is in the region $0.02 < x < 0.03$. We find that the asymmetry may have more than one node, which is an effect that should be taken into account, e.g. for parameterizations of the strange and anti-strange quark distributions used in global analysis of parton distributions.

Acquire information about neutrino parameters by detecting supernova neutrinos

We consider the supernova shock effects, the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein (MSW) effects, the collective effects, and the Earth matter effects in the detection of type II supernova neutrinos on the Earth. It is found that the event number of supernova neutrinos depends on the neutrino mass hierarchy, the neutrino mixing angle $θ_{13}$, and neutrino masses. Therefore, we propose possible methods to identify the mass hierarchy and acquire information about $θ_{13}$ and neutrino masses by detecting supernova neutrinos. We apply these methods to some current neutrino experiments.

Direct CP violation in B \to ρ^0(ω) PS

We calculate the direct CP violating asymmetry parameter, $a_{CP}$, for $B \to π^{+} π^{-} π$ and $B \to π^{+} π^{-} K$ decays, in the case where $ρ^0-ω$ mixing effects are taken into account. We find that the direct CP asymmetry for $B^{-} \to π^{+} π^{-} π^{-}$, $\bar{B}^{0} \to π^{+} π^{-}π^{0}$, $B^{-} \to π^{+} π^{-} K^{-}$ and $\bar{B}^{0} \to π^{+} π^{-}\bar{K}^{0}$, reaches its maximum when the invariant mass $π^{+} π^{-}$ is in the vicinity of the $ω$ meson mass. The inclusion of $ρ^0-ω$ mixing provides an opportunity to erase, without ambiguity, the phase uncertainty mod$(π)$ in the determination of the CKM angles $α$ in case of $b\to u$ and $γ$ in case of $b \to s$.

Study on Strong Decays of $D_{sJ}(2632)$

The resonance $D_{sJ}(2632)$ observed by SELEX, has attracted great interests and meanwhile brought up serious dispute. Its spin-parity, so far has not finally determined and if it exists, its quark-structure might be exotic. Following the previous literature where $D_{sJ}(2632)$ is assumed to be a radial-excited state of $1^-$, we consider the possibilities that it might be a $q\bar q$ ground state of $2^+$ or the first radial-excited state of $0^+$ $D_{sJ}(2317)$ and re-calculate its strong decay widths in terms of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. Our results indicate that there still is a sharp discrepancy between the theoretical evaluation and data.

Study on the Form Factors at Effective Vertices of Diqarks Interacting with Gauge Bosons

The diquark structure in baryons is commonly accepted as a reasonable approximation which can much simplify the picture and reduce the length of calculations. However, a diquark by no means is a point-like particle, even though it is treated as a whole object. Therefore, to apply the diquark picture to the phenomenological calculations, at the effective vertices for the diquark-gauge boson interactions, suitable form factors must be introduced to compensate the effects caused by the inner structure of the diquark. It is crucial to derive the appropriate form factors for various interactions. In this work, we use the Bethe-Salpeter equation to derive such form factors and numerically evaluate their magnitudes.
