The singular Yoneda category and the stabilization functor

For a noetherian ring $Λ$, the stabilization functor in the sense of Krause yields an embedding of the singularity category of $Λ$ into the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of injective $Λ$-modules. When $Λ$ contains a semisimple artinian subring $E$, we give an explicit description of the stabilization functor using the Hom complexes in the $E$-relative singular Yoneda dg category of $Λ$.

Skew group categories, algebras associated to Cartan matrices and folding of root lattices

For a finite group action on a finite EI quiver, we construct its `orbifold' quotient EI quiver. The free EI category associated to the quotient EI quiver is equivalent to the skew group category with respect to the given group action. Specializing the result to a finite group action on a finite acyclic quiver, we prove that, under reasonable conditions, the skew group category of the path category is equivalent to a finite EI category of Cartan type. If the ground field is of characteristic $p$ and the acting group is a cyclic $p$-group, we prove that the skew group algebra of the path algebra is Morita equivalent to the algebra associated to a Cartan matrix, defined in [C. Geiss, B. Leclerc, and J. Schröer, Quivers with relations for symmetrizable Cartan matrices I: Foundations, Invent. Math. 209 (2017), 61--158]. We apply the Morita equivalence to construct a categorification of the folding projection between the root lattices with respect to a graph automorphism. In the Dynkin cases, the restriction of the categorification to indecomposable modules corresponds to the folding of positive roots.

A note on separable functors and monads

For an adjoint pair $(F, G)$ of functors, we prove that $G$ is a separable functor if and only if the defined monad is separable and the associated comparison functor is an equivalence up to retracts. In this case, under an idempotent completeness condition, the adjoint pair $(F, G)$ is monadic. This applies to the comparison between the derived category of the category of equivariant objects in an abelian category and the category of equivariant objects in the derived category of the abelian category.

Homotopy categories, Leavitt path algebras and Gorenstein projective modules

For a finite quiver without sources or sinks, we prove that the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of injective modules over the corresponding finite dimensional algebra with radical square zero is triangle equivalent to the derived category of the Leavitt path algebra viewed as a differential graded algebra with trivial differential, which is further triangle equivalent to the stable category of Gorenstein projective modules over the trivial extension algebra of a von Neumann regular algebra by an invertible bimodule. A related, but different, result for the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of projective modules is given. Restricting these equivalences to compact objects, we obtain various descriptions of the singularity category of a finite dimensional algebra with radical square zero, which contain previous results.

Monadicity theorem and weighted projective lines of tubular type

We formulate a version of Beck's monadicity theorem for abelian categories, which is applied to the equivariantization of abelian categories with respect to a finite group action. We prove that the equivariantization is compatible with the construction of quotient abelian categories by Serre subcategories. We prove that the equivariantization of the graded module category over a graded ring is equivalent to the graded module category over the same ring but with a different grading. We deduce from these results two equivalences between the category of (equivariant) coherent sheaves on a weighted projective line of tubular type and that on an elliptic curve, where the acting groups are cyclic and the two equivalences are somehow adjoint to each other.

Irreducible representations of Leavitt path algebras

We construct some irreducible representations of the Leavitt path algebra of an arbitrary quiver. The constructed representations are associated to certain algebraic branching systems. For a row-finite quiver, we classify algebraic branching systems, to which irreducible representations of the Leavitt path algebra are associated. For a certain quiver, we obtain a faithful completely reducible representation of the Leavitt path algebra. The twisted representations of the constructed ones under the scaling action are studied.

Retractions and Gorenstein homological properties

We associate to a localizable module a left retraction of algebras; it is a homological ring epimorphism that preserves singularity categories. We study the behavior of left retractions with respect to Gorenstein homological properties (for example, being Gorenstein algebras or CM-free). We apply the results to Nakayama algebras. It turns out that for a connected Nakayama algebra $A$, there exists a connected self-injective Nakayama algebra $A'$ such that there is a sequence of left retractions linking $A$ to $A'$; in particular, the singularity category of $A$ is triangle equivalent to the stable category of $A'$. We classify connected Nakayama algebras with at most three simple modules according to Gorenstein homological properties.

The singularity category of an algebra with radical square zero

To an artin algebra with radical square zero, a regular algebra in the sense of von Neumann and a family of invertible bimodules over the regular algebra are associated. These data describe completely, as a triangulated category, the singularity category of the artin algebra. A criterion on the Hom-finiteness of the singularity category is given in terms of the valued quiver of the artin algebra.

A recollement of vector bundles

For a weighted projective line, the stable category of its vector bundles modulo lines bundles has a natural triangulated structure. We prove that, for any positive integers $p, q, r$ and $r'$ with $r'\leq r$, there is an explicit recollement of the stable category of vector bundles on a weighted projective line of weight type $(p, q, r)$ relative to the ones on weighted projective lines of weight types $(p, q, r')$ and $(p, q, r-r'+1)$.

Homotopy Equivalences induced by Balanced Pairs

We introduce the notion of balanced pair of additive subcategories in an abelian category. We give sufficient conditions under which the balanced pair of subcategories gives rise to equivalent homotopy categories of complexes. As an application, we prove that for a left-Gorenstein ring, there exists a triangle-equivalence between the homotopy category of its Gorenstein projective modules and the homotopy category of its Gorenstein injective modules, which restricts to a triangle-equivalence between the homotopy category of projective modules and the homotopy category of injective modules. In the case of commutative Gorenstein rings we prove that up to a natural isomorphism our equivalence extends Iyengar-Krause's equivalence.

Introduction to coherent sheaves on weighted projective lines

These notes provide a description of the abelian categories that arise as categories of coherent sheaves on weighted projective lines. Two different approaches are presented: one is based on a list of axioms and the other yields a description in terms of expansions of abelian categories. A weighted projective line is obtained from a projective line by inserting finitely many weights. So we describe the category of coherent sheaves on a projective line in some detail, and the insertion of weights amounts to adding simple objects. We call this process `expansion' and treat it axiomatically. Thus most of these notes are devoted to studying abelian categories, including a brief discussion of tilting theory. We provide many details and have tried to keep the exposition as self-contained as possible.

Three results on Frobenius categories

This paper consists of three results on Frobenius categories: (1) we give sufficient conditions on when a factor category of a Frobenius category is still a Frobenius category; (2) we show that any Frobenius category is equivalent to an extension-closed exact subcategory of the Frobenius category formed by Cohen-Macaulay modules over some additive category; this is an analogue of Gabriel-Quillen's embedding theorem for Frobenius categories; (3) we show that under certain conditions an exact category with enough projective and enough injective objects allows a natural new exact structure, with which the given category becomes Frobenius. Several applications of the results are discussed.

Unifying two results of D. Orlov

Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a noetherian separated scheme $\mathbb{X}$ of finite Krull dimension which has enough locally free sheaves of finite rank and let $U\subseteq \mathbb{X}$ be an open subscheme. We prove that the singularity category of $U$ is triangle equivalent to the Verdier quotient category of the singularity category of $\mathbb{X}$ with respect to the thick triangulated subcategory generated by sheaves supported in the complement of $U$. The result unifies two results of D. Orlov. We also prove a noncommutative version of this result.

Graded self-injective algebras "are" trivial extensions

For a positively graded artin algebra $A=\oplus_{n\geq 0}A_n$ we introduce its Beilinson algebra $\mathrm{b}(A)$. We prove that if $A$ is well-graded self-injective, then the category of graded $A$-modules is equivalent to the category of graded modules over the trivial extension algebra $T(\mathrm{b}(A))$. Consequently, there is a full exact embedding from the bounded derived category of $\mathrm{b}(A)$ into the stable category of graded modules over $A$; it is an equivalence if and only if the 0-th component algebra $A_0$ has finite global dimension.

On extensions of covariantly finite subcategories

In \cite{GT}, Gentle and Todorov proved that in an abelian category with enough projective objects, the extension subcategory of two covariantly finite subcategories is still covariantly finite. We give an counterexample to show that Gentle-Todorov's theorem may fail in arbitrary abelian categories; we also prove that a triangulated version of Gentle-Todorov's theorem holds; we make applications of Gentle-Todorov's theorem to obtain short proofs to a classical result by Ringel and a recent result by Krause and Solberg.

Singularity categories, Schur Functors and Triangular Matrix Rings

We study certain Schur functors which preserve singularity categories of rings and we apply them to study the singularity category of triangular matrix rings. In particular, combining these results with Buchweitz-Happel's theorem, we can describe singularity categories of certain non-Gorenstein rings via the stable category of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules. Three concrete examples of finite-dimensional algebras with the same singularity category are discussed.
