A stochastic analysis approach to lattice Yang--Mills at strong coupling

We develop a new stochastic analysis approach to the lattice Yang--Mills model at strong coupling in any dimension $d>1$, with t' Hooft scaling $βN$ for the inverse coupling strength. We study their Langevin dynamics, ergodicity, functional inequalities, large $N$ limits, and mass gap. Assuming $|β| < \frac{N-2}{32(d-1)N}$ for the structure group $SO(N)$, or $|β| < \frac{1}{16(d-1)}$ for $SU(N)$, we prove the following results. The invariant measure for the corresponding Langevin dynamic is unique on the entire lattice, and the dynamic is exponentially ergodic under a Wasserstein distance. The finite volume Yang--Mills measures converge to this unique invariant measure in the infinite volume limit, for which Log-Sobolev and Poincaré inequalities hold. These functional inequalities imply that the suitably rescaled Wilson loops for the infinite volume measure has factorized correlations and converges in probability to deterministic limits in the large $N$ limit, and correlations of a large class of observables decay exponentially, namely the infinite volume measure has a strictly positive mass gap. Our method improves earlier results or simplifies the proofs, and provides some new perspectives to the study of lattice Yang--Mills model.

Global-in-time probabilistically strong and Markov solutions to stochastic 3D Navier--Stokes equations: existence and non-uniqueness

We are concerned with the three dimensional incompressible Navier--Stokes equations driven by an additive stochastic forcing of trace class. First, for every divergence free initial condition in $L^{2}$ we establish existence of infinitely many global-in-time probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions, solving one of the open problems in the field. This result in particular implies non-uniqueness in law. Second, we prove non-uniqueness of the associated Markov processes in a suitably chosen class of analytically weak solutions satisfying a relaxed form of an energy inequality. Translated to the deterministic setting, we obtain non-uniqueness of the associated semiflows.

Large $N$ limit of the $O(N)$ linear sigma model in 3D

In this paper we study the large N limit of the $O(N)$-invariant linear sigma model, which is a vector-valued generalization of the $Φ^4$ quantum field theory, on the three dimensional torus. We study the problem via its stochastic quantization, which yields a coupled system of N interacting SPDEs. We prove tightness of the invariant measures in the large N limit. For large enough mass or small enough coupling constant, they converge to the (massive) Gaussian free field at a rate of order $1/\sqrt N$ with respect to the Wasserstein distance. We also obtain tightness results for certain $O(N)$ invariant observables. These generalize some of the results in \cite{SSZZ20} from two dimensions to three dimensions. The proof leverages the method recently developed by \cite{GH18} and combines many new techniques such as uniform in $N$ estimates on perturbative objects as well as the solutions.

Sharp non-uniqueness of solutions to stochastic Navier-Stokes equations

In this paper we establish a sharp non-uniqueness result for stochastic $d$-dimensional ($d\geq2$) incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. First, for every divergence free initial condition in $L^2$ we show existence of infinite many global in time probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions in the class $L^α\big(Ω,L^p_tL^\infty\big)$ for any $1\leq p<2,α\geq1$. Second, we prove the above result is sharp in the sense that pathwise uniqueness holds in the class of $L^p_tL^q$ for some $p\in[2,\infty],q\in(2,\infty]$ such that $\frac2{p}+\frac{d}{q}\leq1$, which is a stochastic version of Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin criteria. Moreover, for stochastic $d$-dimensional incompressible Euler equation, existence of infinitely many global in time probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions is obtained. Compared to the stopping time argument used in \cite{HZZ19, HZZ21a}, we developed a new stochastic version of the convex integration. More precisely, we introduce expectation during convex integration scheme and construct directly solutions on the whole time interval $[0,\infty)$.

Large $N$ Limit of the $O(N)$ Linear Sigma Model via Stochastic Quantization

This article studies large $N$ limits of a coupled system of $N$ interacting $Φ^4$ equations posed over $\mathbb{T}^{d}$ for $d=2$, known as the $O(N)$ linear sigma model. Uniform in $N$ bounds on the dynamics are established, allowing us to show convergence to a mean-field singular SPDE, also proved to be globally well-posed. Moreover, we show tightness of the invariant measures in the large $N$ limit. For large enough mass, they converge to the (massive) Gaussian free field, the unique invariant measure of the mean-field dynamics, at a rate of order $1/\sqrt{N}$ with respect to the Wasserstein distance. We also consider fluctuations and obtain tightness results for certain $O(N)$ invariant observables, along with an exact description of the limiting correlations.

Large deviation principle for the two-dimensional stochastic Navier-Stokes equations with anisotropic viscosity

In this paper we establish the large deviation principle for the the two-dimensional stochastic Navier-Stokes equations with anisotropic viscosity both for small noise and for short time. The proof for large deviation principle is based on the weak convergence approach. For small time asymptotics we use the exponential equivalence to prove the result.

On ill- and well-posedness of dissipative martingale solutions to stochastic 3D Euler equations

We are concerned with the question of well-posedness of stochastic three dimensional incompressible Euler equations. In particular, we introduce a novel class of dissipative solutions and show that (i) existence; (ii) weak--strong uniqueness; (iii) non-uniqueness in law; (iv) existence of a strong Markov solution; (v) non-uniqueness of strong Markov solutions; all hold true within this class. Moreover, as a byproduct of (iii) we obtain existence and non-uniqueness of probabilistically strong and analytically weak solutions defined up to a stopping time and satisfying an energy inequality.

Singular HJB equations with applications to KPZ on the real line

This paper is devoted to studying the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations with distribution-valued coefficients, which is not well-defined in the classical sense and shall be understood by using paracontrolled distribution method introduced in \cite{GIP15}. By a new characterization of weighted Hölder space and Zvonkin's transformation we prove some new a priori estimates, and therefore, establish the global well-posedness for singular HJB equations. As an application, the global well-posedness for KPZ equations on the real line in polynomial weighted Hölder spaces is obtained without using Cole-Hopf's transformation. In particular, we solve the conjecture posed in \cite[Remark 1.1]{PR18}.

Lattice approximation to the dynamical $Φ_3^4$ model

We study the lattice approximations to the dynamical $Φ^4_3$ model by paracontrolled distributions proposed in [GIP13]. We prove that the solutions to the lattice systems converge to the solution to the dynamical $Φ_3^4$ model in probability, locally in time. The dynamical $Φ_3^4$ model is not well defined in the classical sense. Renormalisation has to be performed in order to define the non-linear term. Formally, this renormalisation corresponds to adding an infinite mass term to the equation which leads to adding a drift term in the lattice systems.

Restricted Markov uniqueness for the stochastic quantization of $P(Φ)_2$ and its applications

In this paper we obtain restricted Markov uniqueness of the generator and uniqueness of probabilistically weak solutions for the stochastic quantization problem in both the finite and infinite volume case by clarifying the precise relation between the solutions to the stochastic quantization problem obtained by the Dirichlet form approach and those obtained in [DD03] and in [MW15]. We prove that the solution $X-Z$, where $X$ is obtained by the Dirichlet form approach in [AR91] and $Z$ is the corresponding O-U process, satisfies the corresponding shifted equation (see (1.4) below). Moreover, we obtain that the infinite volume $P(Φ)_2$ quantum field is an invariant measure for the $X_0=Y+Z$, where $Y$ is the unique solution to the shifted equation.

Sub and supercritical stochastic quasi-geostrophic equation

In this paper, we study the 2D stochastic quasi-geostrophic equation on $\mathbb{T}^2$ for general parameter $α\in(0,1)$ and multiplicative noise. We prove the existence of weak solutions and Markov selections for multiplicative noise for all $α\in(0,1)$. In the subcritical case $α>1/2$, we prove existence and uniqueness of (probabilistically) strong solutions. Moreover, we prove ergodicity for the solution of the stochastic quasi-geostrophic equations in the subcritical case driven by possibly degenerate noise. The law of large numbers for the solution of the stochastic quasi-geostrophic equations in the subcritical case is also established. In the case of nondegenerate noise and $α>2/3$ in addition exponential ergodicity is proved.

A note on stochastic semilinear equations and their associated Fokker-Planck equations

In this paper we treat semilinear stochastic partial differential equations by two methods. First, we extend the framework of [BDR10] from a Hilbert space to a Gelfand triple and as an application we prove the existence of solutions for the Fokker-Planck equations associated to semilinear equations with space-time white noise and both with polynomially growing nonlinearities and Burgers type nonlinearities at the same time. Second we adopt the approximation technique from [BDR10] to obtain existence of unique strong solutions to semilinear stochastic partial differential equations driven by space-time white noise, generalizing corresponding known results from the literature.

Approximating three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations driven by space-time white noise

In this paper we study approximations to 3D Navier-Stokes (NS) equation driven by space-time white noise by paracontrolled distribution proposed in [GIP13]. A solution theory for this equation has been developed recently in [ZZ14] based on regularity structure theory and paracontrolled distribution. In order to make the approximating equation converge to 3D NS equation driven by space-time white noise, we should subtract some drift terms in approximating equations. These drift terms, which come from renormalizations in the solution theory, converge to the solution multiplied by some constant depending on approximations.

Existence and uniqueness of solutions to stochastic functional differential equations in infinite dimensions

In this paper, we present a general framework for solving stochastic functional differential equations in infinite dimensions in the sense of martingale solutions, which can be applied to a large class of SPDE with finite delays, e.g. $d$-dimensional stochastic fractional Navier-Stokes equations with delays, $d$-dimensional stochastic reaction-diffusion equations with delays, $d$-dimensional stochastic porous media equations with delays. Moreover, under local monotonicity conditions for the nonlinear term we obtain the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to SPDE with delays.

BV functions in a Gelfand triple for differentiable measure and its applications

In this paper, we introduce a definition of BV functions for (non-Gaussian) differentiable measure in a Gelfand triple which is an extension of the definition of BV functions in [RZZ12], using Dirichlet form theory. By this definition, we can analyze the reflected stochastic quantization problem associated with a self-adjoint operator $A$ and a cylindrical Wiener process on a convex set $Γ$ in a Banach space $E$. We prove the existence of a martingale solution of this problem if $Γ$ is a regular convex set.

Local existence and non-explosion of solutions for stochastic fractional partial differential equations driven by multiplicative noise

In this paper we prove the local existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of stochastic fractional partial differential equations driven by multiplicative noise. We also establish that for this class of equations adding linear multiplicative noise provides a regularizing effect: the solutions will not blow up with high probability if the initial data is sufficiently small, or if the noise coefficient is sufficiently large. As applications our main results are applied to various types of SPDE such as stochastic reaction-diffusion equations, stochastic fractional Burgers equation, stochastic fractional Navier-Stokes equation, stochastic quasi-geostrophic equations and stochastic surface growth PDE.

Random attractor associated with the quasi-geostrophic equation

We study the long time behavior of the solutions to the 2D stochastic quasi-geostrophic equation on $\mathbb{T}^2$ driven by additive noise and real linear multiplicative noise in the subcritical case (i.e. $α>1/2$) by proving the existence of a random attractor. The key point for the proof is the exponential decay of the $L^p$-norm and a boot-strapping argument. The upper semicontinuity of random attractors is also established. Moreover, if the viscosity constant is large enough, the system has a trivial random attractor.
