Nature of $X(2370)$

We address the nature of the $X(2370)$ resonance observed in the $J/ψ$ radiative decays, $J/ψ\rightarrowγK^{+} K^{-}η'$, $J/ψ\rightarrowγK_S K_Sη'$ and $J/ψ\rightarrowγπ^{+}π^{-}η'$. By studying the invariant mass spectra we confirm that decays of the $X(2370)$ into three pseudo-scalars are well described by an effective chiral Lagrangian. We extract the branching ratio of $J/ψ\to X(2370)γ$ and show that it is an order of magnitude larger compared to the glueball production rate predicted by lattice QCD. This indicates that $X(2370)$ is not likely to be a glueball candidate.

Pole analysis on the doubly charmed meson in $D^0D^0π^+$ mass spectrum

In this paper we study the scattering amplitudes of $D^{0}D^{0}π^+$-$D^{*+}D^{0}$ coupled channels based on $K$-matrix within the Chew-Mandelstam formalism. The $D^{0}D^{0}π^{+}$ invariant mass spectrum of LHCb is fitted and the pole parameters of the $T_{cc}^+$ are extracted. The analysis of pole behavior suggests that the $T_{cc}^+$ may originate from a $D^{*+}D^{0}$ virtual state and is formed as a result of an interplay between an attractive interaction between $D^0$ and $D^{*+}$ and coupling to $D^{0}D^0π^+$ channel.

An HPC-Based Hydrothermal Finite Element Simulator for Modeling Underground Response to Community-Scale Geothermal Energy Production

Geothermal heat, as renewable energy, shows great advantage with respect to its environmental impact due to its significantly lower CO2 emissions than conventional fossil fuel. Open and closed-loop geothermal heat pumps, which utilize shallow geothermal systems, are an efficient technology for cooling and heating buildings, especially in urban areas. Integrated use of geothermal energy technologies for district heating, cooling, and thermal energy storage can be applied to optimize the subsurface for communities to provide them with multiple sustainable energy and community resilience benefits. The utilization of the subsurface resources may lead to a variation in the underground environment, which might further impact local environmental conditions. However, very few simulators can handle such a highly complex set of coupled computations on a regional or city scale. We have developed high-performance computing (HPC) based hydrothermal finite element (FE) simulator that can simulate the subsurface and its hydrothermal conditions at a scale of tens of km. The HPC simulator enables us to investigate the subsurface thermal and hydrologic response to the built underground environment (such as basements and subways) at the community scale. In this study, a coupled hydrothermal simulator is developed based on the open-source finite element library deal.II. The HPC simulator was validated by comparing the results of a benchmark case study against COMSOL Multiphysics, in which Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) is modeled and a process of heat injection into ATES is simulated. The use of an energy pile system at the Treasure Island redevelopment site (San Francisco, CA, USA) was selected as a case study to demonstrate the HPC capability of the developed simulator. The simulator is capable of modeling multiple city-scale geothermal scenarios in a reasonable amount of time.

Green Cloudlet Network: A Distributed Green Mobile Cloud Network

This article introduces a Green Cloudlet Network (GCN) architecture in the context of mobile cloud computing. The proposed architecture is aimed at providing seamless and low End-to-End (E2E) delay between a User Equipment (UE) and its Avatar (its software clone) in the cloudlets to facilitate the application workloads offloading process. Furthermore, Software Define Networking (SDN) based core network is introduced in the GCN architecture by replacing the traditional Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in the LTE network in order to provide efficient communications connections between different end points. Cloudlet Network File System (CNFS) is designed based on the proposed architecture in order to protect Avatars' dataset against hardware failure and improve the Avatars' performance in terms of data access latency. Moreover, green energy supplement is proposed in the architecture in order to reduce the extra Operational Expenditure (OPEX) and CO2 footprint incurred by running the distributed cloudlets. Owing to the temporal and spatial dynamics of both the green energy generation and energy demands of Green Cloudlet Systems (GCSs), designing an optimal green energy management strategy based on the characteristics of the green energy generation and the energy demands of eNBs and cloudlets to minimize the on-grid energy consumption is critical to the cloudlet provider.

Asymptotic Cones of Embedded Singular Spaces

We use geometric measure theory to introduce the notion of asymptotic cones associated with a singular subspace of a Riemannian manifold. This extends the classical notion of asymptotic directions usually defined on smooth submanifolds. We get a simple expression of these cones for polyhedra in E^3, as well as convergence and approximation theorems. In particular, if a sequence of singular spaces tends to a smooth submanifold, the corresponding sequence of asymptotic cones tends to the asymptotic cone of the smooth one for a suitable distance function. Moreover, we apply these results to approximate the asymptotic lines of a smooth surface when the surface is approximated by a triangulation.

Green Energy Aware Avatar Migration Strategy in Green Cloudlet Networks

We propose a Green Cloudlet Network (\emph{GCN}) architecture to provide seamless Mobile Cloud Computing (\emph{MCC}) services to User Equipments (\emph{UE}s) with low latency in which each cloudlet is powered by both green and brown energy. Fully utilizing green energy can significantly reduce the operational cost of cloudlet providers. However, owing to the spatial dynamics of energy demand and green energy generation, the energy gap among different cloudlets in the network is unbalanced, i.e., some cloudlets' energy demands can be fully provided by green energy but others need to utilize on-grid energy (i.e., brown energy) to satisfy their energy demands. We propose a Green-energy awarE Avatar migRation (\emph{GEAR}) strategy to minimize the on-grid energy consumption in GCN by redistributing the energy demands via Avatar migration among cloudlets according to cloudlets' green energy generation. Furthermore, GEAR ensures the Service Level Agreement (\emph{SLA}) in terms of the maximum Avatar propagation delay by avoiding Avatars hosted in the remote cloudlets. We formulate the GEAR strategy as a mixed integer linear programming problem, which is NP-hard, and thus apply the Branch and Bound search to find its sub-optimal solution. Simulation results demonstrate that GEAR can save on-grid energy consumption significantly as compared to the Follow me AvataR (\emph{FAR}) migration strategy, which aims to minimize the propagation delay between an UE and its Avatar.

PRIMAL: PRofIt Maximization Avatar pLacement for Mobile Edge Computing

We propose a cloudlet network architecture to bring the computing resources from the centralized cloud to the edge. Thus, each User Equipment (UE) can communicate with its Avatar, a software clone located in a cloudlet, with lower end-to-end (E2E) delay. However, UEs are moving over time, and so the low E2E delay may not be maintained if UEs' Avatars stay in their original cloudlets. Thus, live Avatar migration (i.e., migrating a UE's Avatar to a suitable cloudlet based on the UE's location) is enabled to maintain low E2E delay between each UE and its Avatar. On the other hand, the migration itself incurs extra overheads in terms of resources of the Avatar, which compromise the performance of applications running in the Avatar. By considering the gain (i.e., the E2E delay reduction) and the cost (i.e., the migration overheads) of the live Avatar migration, we propose a PRofIt Maximization Avatar pLacement (PRIMAL) strategy for the cloudlet network in order to optimize the tradeoff between the migration gain and the migration cost by selectively migrating the Avatars to their optimal locations. Simulation results demonstrate that as compared to the other two strategies (i.e., Follow Me Avatar and Static), PRIMAL maximizes the profit in terms of maintaining the low average E2E delay between UEs and their Avatars and minimizing the migration cost simultaneously.

Boundedness of solutions for a class of impact oscillators with time-denpendent polynomial potentials

In this paper, we consider the boundedness of solutions for a class of impact oscillators $$ \{{array}{ll} \displaystyle \ddot{x}+x^{2n+1}+\sum_{i=0}^{2n}p_{i}(t)x^{i}=0,& \quad {\rm for}\quad x(t)> 0, x(t)\geq 0,& \dot{x}(t_{0}^{+})=-\dot{x}(t_{0}^{-}),& \quad {\rm if}\quad x(t_{0})=0, {array}. $$ where $n\in\NN^{+}$, $p_{i}(t+1)=p_{i}(t)$ and $p_{i}(t)\in C^5(\RR/\ZZ).$

On the diffuseness of incomplete information game

We introduce the "relative diffuseness" assumption to characterize the differences between payoff-relevant and strategy-relevant diffuseness of information. Based on this assumption, the existence of pure strategy equilibria in games with incomplete information and general action spaces can be obtained. Moreover, we introduce a new notion of "undistinguishable purification" which strengthens the standard purification concept, and its existence follows from the relative diffuseness assumption.
