Affine Lie algebras representations induced from Whittaker modules

We use induction from parabolic subalgebras with infinite-dimensional Levi factor to construct new families of irreducible representations for arbitrary Affine Kac-Moody algebra. Our first construction defines a functor from the category of Whittaker modules over the Levi factor of a parabolic subalgebra to the category of modules over the Affine Lie algebra. The second functor sends tensor products of a module over the affine part of the Levi factor (in particular any weight module) and of a Whittaker module over the complement Heisenberg subalgebra to the Affine Lie algebra modules. Both functors preserves irreducibility when the central charge is nonzero.

A Poisson Algebra on the Hida Test Functions and a Quantization using the Cuntz Algebra

In this note we define one more way of quantization of classical systems. The quantization we consider is an analogue of classical Jordan-Schwinger (J.-S.) map which has been known and used for a long time by physicists. The difference, comparing to J.-S. map, is that we use generators of Cuntz algebra $\mathcal{O}_{\infty}$ (i.e. countable family of mutually orthogonal partial isometries of separable Hilbert space) as a "building blocks" instead of creation-annihilation operators. The resulting scheme satisfies properties similar to Van Hove prequantization i.e. exact conservation of Lie bracket and linearity.

Holonomic modules for rings of invariant differential operators

We study holonomic modules for the rings of invariant differential operators on affine commutative domains with finite Krull dimension with respect to arbitrary actions of finite groups. We prove the Bernstein inequality for these rings. Our main tool is the filter dimension introduced by Bavula. We extend the results for the invariants of the Weyl algebra with respect to the symplectic action of a finite group, for the rings of invariant differential operators on quotient varieties, and invariants of certain generalized Weyl algebras under the linear actions. We show that the filter dimension of all above mentioned algebras equals 1.

Classification of irreducible Gelfand-Tsetlin modules of sl(3)

We provide a classification and an explicit realization of all irreducible Gelfand-Tsetlin modules of the complex Lie algebra sl(3). The realization of these modules uses regular and derivative Gelfand-Tsetlin tableaux. In particular, we list all simple Gelfand-Tsetlin sl(3)-modules with infinite-dimensional weight spaces. Also, we express all simple Gelfand-Tsetlin sl(3)-modules as subquotionets of localized Gelfand-Tsetlin E_{21}-injective modules.

Classification of simple strong Harish-Chandra $W(m,n)$-modules

We classify all simple strong Harish-Chandra modules for the Lie superalgebra $W(m,n)$. We show that every such module is either strongly cuspidal or a module of the highest weight type. We construct tensor modules for $W(m,n)$, which are parametrized by simple finite-dimensional $gl(m,n)$-modules and show that every simple strongly cuspidal $W(m,n)$-module is a quotient of a tensor module. Finally, we realize modules of the highest weight type as simple quotients of the generalized Verma modules induced from tensor modules for $W(m-1,n)$.

Gelfand-Tsetlin modules for gl(n,m)

We address the problem of classifying of irreducible Gelfand-Tsetlin modules for gl(m|n) and show that it reduces to the classification of Gelfand-Tsetlin modules for the even part. We also give an explicit tableaux construction and the irreducibility criterion for the class of quasi typical and quasi covariant Gelfand-Tsetlin modules which includes all essentially typical and covariant tensor finite dimensional modules. In the quasi typical case new irreducible representations are infinite dimensional gl(m|n)-modules which are isomorphic to the parabolically induced (Kac) modules.

LD-stability for Goldie rings

The lower transcendence degree, introduced by J. J Zhang, is an important non-commutative invariant in ring theory and non-commutative geometry strongly connected to the classical Gelfand-Kirillov transcendence degree. For LD-stable algebras, the lower transcendence degree coincides with the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. We show that the following algebras are LD-stable and compute their lower transcendence degrees: rings of differential operators of affine domains, universal enveloping algebras of finite dimensional Lie superalgebras, symplectic reflection algebras and their spherical subalgebras, finite $W$-algebras of type $A$, generalized Weyl algebras over Noetherian domain (under a mild condition), some quantum groups. We show that the lower transcendence degree behaves well with respect to the invariants by finite groups, and with respect to the Morita equivalence. Applications of these results are given.

Automorphisms and Ideals of Noncommutative Deformations of $\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$

Let $O_τ(Γ)$ be a family of algebras \textit{quantizing} the coordinate ring of $\mathbb{C}^2 / Γ$, where $Γ$ is a finite subgroup of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$, and let $G_Γ$ be the automorphism group of $O_τ$. We study the natural action of $G_Γ$ on the space of right ideals of $O_τ$ (equivalently, finitely generated rank $1$ projective $O_τ$-modules). It is known that the later can be identified with disjoint union of algebraic (quiver) varieties, and this identification is $G_Γ$-equivariant. In the present paper, when $Γ\cong \mathbb{Z}_2$, we show that the $G_Γ$-action on each quiver variety is transitive. We also show that the natural embedding of $G_Γ$ into $\mathrm{Pic}(O_τ)$, the Picard group of $O_τ$, is an isomorphism. These results are used to prove that there are countably many non-isomorphic algebras Morita equivalent to $O_τ$, and explicit presentation of these algebras are given. Since algebras $O_τ(\mathbb{Z}_2)$ are isomorphic to primitive factors of $U(sl_2)$, we obtain a complete description of algebras Morita equivalent to primitive factors. A structure of the group $G_Γ$, where $Γ$ is an arbitrary cyclic group, is also investigated. Our results generalize earlier results obtained for the (first) Weyl algebra $A_1$.

Indecomposable generalized weight modules over the algebra of polynomial integro-differential operators

For the algebra L= K <x, d/dx, \int> of polynomial integro-differential operators over a field K of characteristic zero, a classification of indecomposable, generalized weight L-modules of finite length is given. Each such module is an infinite dimensional uniserial module. Ext-groups are found between indecomposable generalized weight modules, it is proven that they are finite dimensional vector spaces.

Noncommutative Noether's problem for complex reflection groups

We solve the noncommutative Noether's problem for the reflection groups by showing that the skew field of the invariants of the Weyl algebra under the action of any reection group is a Weyl field, that is isomorphic to a skew field of some Weyl algebra over a transcendental extension of the ground field. We also extend this result to the invariants of the ring of differential operators on any dimensional torus. The results are applied to obtain analogs of the Gelfand-Kirillov Conjecture for Cherednik algebras and Galois algebras.

Roth's solvability criteria for the matrix equations ${AX-\widehat XB=C}$ and ${X-A\widehat{X}B=C}$ over the skew field of quaternions with an involutive automorphism $q\mapsto \hat q$

The matrix equation $AX-XB=C$ has a solution if and only if the matrices [A&C\\0&B] and [A &0\\0 & B] are similar. This criterion was proved over a field by W.E. Roth (1952) and over the skew field of quaternions by Huang Liping (1996). H.K. Wimmer (1988) obtained an analogous criterion for the matrix equation $X-AXB=C$ over a field. We extend these criteria to the matrix equations $AX-\widehat XB=C$ and $X-A\widehat XB=C$ over the skew field of quaternions with a fixed involutive automorphism $q\mapsto \hat q$.

Topological classification of systems of bilinear and sesquilinear forms

Let $\cal A$ and $\cal B$ be two systems consisting of the same vector spaces $\mathbb C^{n_1},\dots,\mathbb C^{n_t}$ and bilinear or sesquilinear forms $A_i,B_i:\mathbb C^{n_{k(i)}}\times\mathbb C^{n_{l(i)}}\to\mathbb C$, for $i=1,\dots,s$. We prove that $\cal A$ is transformed to $\cal B$ by homeomorphisms within $\mathbb C^{n_1},\dots,\mathbb C^{n_t}$ if and only if $\cal A$ is transformed to $\cal B$ by linear bijections within $\mathbb C^{n_1},\dots,\mathbb C^{n_t}$.

Imaginary Verma Modules for $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)})$ and Crystal-like bases

We consider imaginary Verma modules for quantum affine algebraU_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)}) and define a crystal-like base which we call an imaginary crystal basis using the Kashiwara algebra K_q constructed in earlier work of the authors. In particular, we prove the existence of imaginary like bases for a suitable category of reduced imaginary Verma modules for U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}(2)}).

Representations of D_q(k [x])

The algebra of quantum differential operators on graded algebras was introduced by V. Lunts and A. Rosenberg. D. Jordan, T. McCune and the second author have identified this algebra of quantum differential operators on the polynomial algebra with coefficients in an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. It contains the first Weyl algebra and the quantum Weyl algebra as its subalgebras. In this paper we classify irreducible weight modules over the algebra of quantum differential operators on the polynomial algebra. Some classes of indecomposable modules are constructed in the case of positive characteristic and q root of unity.

Change of the congruence canonical form of 2-by-2 and 3-by-3 matrices under perturbations and bundles of matrices under congruence

We construct the Hasse diagrams $G_2$ and $G_3$ for the closure ordering on the sets of congruence classes of $2\times 2$ and $3\times 3$ complex matrices. In other words, we construct two directed graphs whose vertices are $2\times 2$ or, respectively, $3\times 3$ canonical matrices under congruence and there is a directed path from $A$ to $B$ if and only if $A$ can be transformed by an arbitrarily small perturbation to a matrix that is congruent to $B$. A bundle of matrices under congruence is defined as a set of square matrices $A$ for which the pencils $A+λA^T$ belong to the same bundle under strict equivalence. In support of this definition, we show that all matrices in a congruence bundle of $2\times 2$ or $3\times 3$ matrices have the same properties with respect to perturbations. We construct the Hasse diagrams $G_2^{\rm B}$ and $G_3^{\rm B}$ for the closure ordering on the sets of congruence bundles of $2\times 2$ and, respectively, $3\times 3$ matrices. We find the isometry groups of $2\times 2$ and $3\times 3$ congruence canonical matrices.

Quantization of the shift of argument subalgebras in type A

Given a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ and an element $μ\in\mathfrak{g}^*$, the corresponding shift of argument subalgebra of $\text{S}(\mathfrak{g})$ is Poisson commutative. In the case where $μ$ is regular, this subalgebra is known to admit a quantization, that is, it can be lifted to a commutative subalgebra of $\text{U}(\mathfrak{g})$. We show that if $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type $A$, then this property extends to arbitrary $μ$, thus proving a conjecture of Feigin, Frenkel and Toledano Laredo. The proof relies on an explicit construction of generators of the center of the affine vertex algebra at the critical level.

Regularizing decompositions for matrix pencils and a topological classification of pairs of linear mappings

We give a method for constructing a regularizing decomposition of a matrix pencil, which is formulated in terms of the linear mappings. We prove that two pencils are topologically equivalent if and only if their regularizing decompositions coincide up to permutation of summands and their regular parts coincide up to homeomorphisms of their spaces.

Singular Gelfand-Tsetlin modules of $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$

The classical Gelfand-Tsetlin formulas provide a basis in terms of tableaux and an explicit action of the generators of $\mathfrak{gl} (n)$ for every irreducible finite-dimensional $\mathfrak{gl} (n)$-module. These formulas can be used to define a $\mathfrak{gl} (n)$-module structure on some infinite-dimensional modules - the so-called generic Gelfand-Tsetlin modules. The generic Gelfand-Tsetlin modules are convenient to work with since for every generic tableau there exists a unique irreducible generic Gelfand-Tsetlin module containing this tableau as a basis element. In this paper we initiate the systematic study of a large class of non-generic Gelfand-Tsetlin modules - the class of $1$-singular Gelfand-Tsetlin modules. An explicit tableaux realization and the action of $\mathfrak{gl} (n)$ on these modules is provided using a new construction which we call derivative tableaux. Our construction of $1$-singular modules provides a large family of new irreducible Gelfand-Tsetlin modules of $\mathfrak{gl} (n)$, and is a part of the classification of all such irreducible modules for $n=3$.

Classification of simple $W_n$-modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces

We classify all simple $W_n$-modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces. Every such module is either of a highest weight type or is a quotient of a module of tensor fields on a torus, which was conjectured by Eswara Rao. This generalizes the classical result of Mathieu on simple weight modules for the Virasoro algebra. In our proof of the classification we construct a functor from the category of cuspidal $W_n$-modules to the category of $W_n$-modules with a compatible action of the algebra of functions on a torus. We also present a new identity for certain quadratic elements in the universal enveloping algebra of $W_1$, which provides important information about cuspidal $W_1$-modules.

New Irreducible Modules for Heisenberg and Affine Lie Algebras

We study $\mathbb Z$-graded modules of nonzero level with arbitrary weight multiplicities over Heisenberg Lie algebras and the associated generalized loop modules over affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. We construct new families of such irreducible modules over Heisenberg Lie algebras. Our main result establishes the irreducibility of the corresponding generalized loop modules providing an explicit construction of many new examples of irreducible modules for affine Lie algebras. In particular, to any function $ϕ:\mathbb N\rightarrow \{\pm\}$ we associate a $ϕ$-highest weight module over the Heisenberg Lie algebra and a $ϕ$-imaginary Verma module over the affine Lie algebra. We show that any $ϕ$-imaginary Verma module of nonzero level is irreducible.

Representations of posets: Linear versus Unitary

A number of recent papers treated the representation theory of partially ordered sets in unitary spaces with the so called orthoscalar relation. Such theory generalizes the classical theory which studies the representations of partially ordered sets in linear spaces. It happens that the results in the unitary case are well-correlated with those in the linear case. The purpose of this article is to shed light on this phenomena.

A canonical form for nonderogatory matrices under unitary similarity

A square matrix is nonderogatory if its Jordan blocks have distinct eigenvalues. We give canonical forms (i) for nonderogatory complex matrices up to unitary similarity and (ii) for pairs of complex matrices up to similarity, in which one matrix has distinct eigenvalues. The types of these canonical forms are given by undirected and, respectively, directed graphs with no undirected cycles.

Multiparameter Twisted Weyl Algebras

We introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's q-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus, we also describe all Whittaker pairs up to isomorphism over a class of twisted generalized Weyl algebras which includes the multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras.

On the Consistency of Twisted Generalized Weyl Algebras

A twisted generalized Weyl algebra A of degree n depends on a base algebra R, n commuting automorphisms s_i of R, n central elements t_i of R and on some additional scalar parameters. In a paper by V.Mazorchuk and L.Turowska (1999) it is claimed that certain consistency conditions for s_i and t_i are sufficient for the algebra to be nontrivial. However, in this paper we give an example which shows that this is false. We also correct the statement by finding a new set of consistency conditions and prove that the old and new conditions together are necessary and sufficient for the base algebra R to map injectively into A. In particular they are sufficient for the algebra A to be nontrivial. We speculate that these consistency relations may play a role in other areas of mathematics, analogous to the role played by the Yang-Baxter equation in the theory of integrable systems.

Representations of Lie algebra of vector fields on a torus and chiral de Rham complex

The goal of this paper is to study the representation theory of a classical infinite-dimensional Lie algebra - the Lie algebra of vector fields on an N-dimensional torus for N > 1. The case N=1 gives a famous Virasoro algebra (or its centerless version - the Witt algebra). The algebra of vector fields has an important class of tensor modules parametrized by finite-dimensional modules of gl(N). Tensor modules can be used in turn to construct bounded irreducible modules for the vector fields on N+1-dimensional torus, which are the central objects of our study. We solve two problems regarding these bounded modules: we construct their free field realizations and determine their characters. To solve these problems we analyze the structure of the irreducible modules for the semidirect product of vector fields with the quotient of 1-forms by the differentials of functions. These modules remain irreducible when restricted to the subalgebra of vector fields, unless they belongs to the chiral de Rham complex, introduced by Malikov-Schechtman-Vaintrob.

Solution of a q-difference Noether problem and the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for gl_N

It is shown that the q-difference Noether problem for all classical Weyl groups has a positive solution, simultaneously generalizing well known results on multisymmetric functions of Mattuck and Miyata in the case q=1, and q-deforming the noncommutative Noether problem for the symmetric group. It is also shown that the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for gl_N (for a generic q) follows from the positive solution of the q-difference Noether problem for the Weyl group of type D_n. The proof is based on the theory of Galois rings developed by the first author and Ovsienko. From here we obtain a new proof of the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for sl_N, thus recovering the result of Fauquant-Millet. Moreover, we provide an explicit description of skew fields of fractions for quantized gl_N and sl_N generalizing Alev and Dumas.

Twisted Weyl algebras, crossed products, and representations

We prove that any twisted generalized Weyl algebra satisfying certain consistency conditions can be embedded into a crossed product. We also introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's $q$-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction.

Criterion of unitary similarity for upper triangular matrices in general position

Each square complex matrix is unitarily similar to an upper triangular matrix with diagonal entries in any prescribed order. Let A and B be upper triangular n-by-n matrices that (i) are not similar to direct sums of matrices of smaller sizes, or (ii) are in general position and have the same main diagonal. We prove that A and B are unitarily similar if and only if ||h(A_k)||=||h(B_k)|| for all complex polynomials h(x) and k=1, 2, . . , n, where A_k and B_k are the principal k-by-k submatrices of A and B, and ||M|| is the Frobenius norm of M.

Torsion theories induced from commutative subalgebras

We begin a study of torsion theories for representations of an important class of associative algebras over a field which includes all finite W-algebras of type A, in particular the universal enveloping algebra of gl(n) (or sl(n)) for all n. If U is such and algebra which contains a finitely generated commutative subalgebra A, then we show that any A-torsion theory defined by the coheight of prime ideals is liftable to U. Moreover, for any simple U-module M, all associated prime ideals of M in Spec A have the same coheight. Hence, thecoheight of the associated prime ideals of A is an invariant of a given simple U-module. This implies a stratification of the category of $U$-modules controlled by the coheight of associated prime ideals of A. Our approach can be viewed as a generalization of the classical paper by R.Block, it allows in particular to study representations of gl(n) beyond the classical category of weight or generalized weight modules.

Tilting, deformations and representations of linear groups over Euclidean algebras

We consider the dual space of linear groups over Dynkinian and Euclidean algebras, i.e. finite dimensional algebras derived equivalent to the path algebra of Dynkin or Euclidean quiver. We prove that this space contains an open dense subset isomorphic to the product of dual spaces of full linear groups and, perhaps, one more (explicitly described) space. The proof uses the technique of bimodule categories, deformations and representations of quivers.
