$B-L$ model with $A_4\times Z_3\times Z_4$ symmetry for $3+1$ active$-$sterile neutrino mixing

We construct a multiscalar and nonrenormalizable $B-L$ model with $A_4\times Z_3\times Z_4$ flavor symmetry which successfully explains the recent $3+1$ active-sterile neutrino data. The tiny neutrino mass the mass hierarchy are obtained by the type-I seesaw mechanism. The hierarchy of the lepton masses is satisfied by a factor of $v_H \left(\frac{v_l}Λ\right)^2 \sim 10^{-4}\, \mathrm{GeV}$ of the electron mass compared to the muon and tau masses of the order of $\frac{v_H v_l}Λ \sim 10^{-1}\, \mathrm{GeV}$. The recent $3+1$ active-sterile neutrino mixings are predicted to be $0.015 \leq|U_{e 4}|^2\leq 0.045$, $0.004 \leq|U_{μ4}|^2\leq 0.012$, $0.004 \leq|U_{τ4}|^2\leq 0.014$ for normal hierarchy and $0.020\leq|U_{e 4}|^2\leq 0.045$, $0.008 \leq|U_{μ4}|^2\leq 0.018$, $0.008\leq|U_{τ4}|^2\leq 0.022$ for inverted hierarchy. Sterile neutrino masses are predicted to be $0.7 \lesssim m_s \, (\mathrm{eV}) \lesssim 3.16$ for normal hierarchy and $2.6 \lesssim m_s \, (\mathrm{eV}) \lesssim 7.1$ for inverted hierarchy. For three neutrino scheme the model predicts $0.3401 \leq \sin^2θ_{12}\leq 0.3415, \, 0.460 \leq \sin^2θ_{23}\leq 0.540,\, -0.60 \leq \sinδ_{CP}\leq -0.20$ for normal hierarchy and $0.3402 \leq \sin^2θ_{12}\leq 0.3416,\, 0.434\leq\sin^2θ_{23}\leq 0.610,\, -0.95 \leq \sinδ_{CP}\leq -0.60$ for inverted hierarchy. The effective neutrino masses are predicted to be $35.70 \leq \langle m_{ee}\rangle [\mbox{meV}] \leq 36.50$ in 3+1 scheme and $3.65 \leq \langle m^{(3)}_{ee}\rangle [\mbox{meV}] \leq 4.10$ in three neutrino scheme for NH while $160.0 \leq \langle m_{ee}\rangle [\mbox{meV}] \leq 168.0$ in 3+1 scheme and $47.80 \leq \langle m^{(3)}_{ee}\rangle [\mbox{meV}] \leq 48.70$ in three neutrino scheme for for IH which are all in agreement with the recent experimental data.

Comment on "Flavored leptogenesis and neutrino mass with $A_4$ symmetry" [JHEP12(2021)051, arXiv:2106.06773]

Recently, in ref. \cite{A4Datta} Datta et al. [arXiv:2106.06773] proposed an $A_4$ flavor symmetric model supplemented by $Z_2\times Z_3$ symmetry which can accommodate the appropriate lepton mixing and neutrino masses via Type-I seesaw mechanism. They have constructed a minimal model with only one $SU(2)_L$ doublet scalar and six flavons that generate a specific flavor structure, favors the normal hierarchy of light neutrinos and narrows down the range of Dirac CP violating phase. Taking into account the contribution of all invariant terms, under all symmetries, is very important in the model building process, however, in ref. \cite{A4Datta} the authors miss a Majorana mass term which contributes to and changes the structure of the Majorana mass matrix of the right handed neutrinos. In this comment paper, we point out the above issue and provide a solution to fill in the missing term in ref. \cite{A4Datta}.

Fermion masses and mixings and $g-2$ muon anomaly in a 3-3-1 model with $D_4$ family symmetry

We propose a predictive model based on the $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry, which is supplemented by the $D_4$ family symmetry and several auxiliary cyclic symmetries whose spontaneous breaking produces the observed SM fermion mass and mixing pattern. The masses of the light active neutrinos are produced by an inverse seesaw mechanism mediated by three right handed Majorana neutrinos. To the best of our knowledge the model corresponds to the first implementation of the $D_4$ family symmetry in a $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ theory with three right handed Majorana neutrinos and inverse seesaw mechanism. Our proposed model successfully accommodates the experimental values of the SM fermion mass and mixing parameters, the muon anomalous magnetic moment as well as the Higgs diphoton decay rate and meson oscillations constraints. The consistency of our model with the muon anomalous magnetic moment requires charged exotic vector like leptons at the TeV scale.

Fermion spectrum and $g-2$ anomalies in a low scale 3-3-1 model

We propose a renormalizable theory based on the $SU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry, supplemented by the spontaneously broken $U(1)_{L_g}$ global lepton number symmetry and the $S_3 \times Z_2 $ discrete group, which successfully describes the observed SM fermion mass and mixing hierarchy. In our model the top and exotic quarks get tree level masses, whereas the bottom, charm and strange quarks as well as the tau and muon leptons obtain their masses from a tree level Universal seesaw mechanism thanks to their mixing with charged exotic vector like fermions. The masses for the first generation SM charged fermions are generated from a radiative seesaw mechanism at one loop level. The light active neutrino masses are produced from a loop level radiative seesaw mechanism. Our model successfully accommodates the experimental values for electron and muon anomalous magnetic dipole moments.

A 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos based on the $Δ\left(27\right)$ family symmetry

We present the first multiscalar singlet extension of the 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos, based on the $Δ\left( 27\right) $ family symmetry, supplemented by the $Z_{4}\otimes Z_{8}\otimes Z_{14}$ flavor group, consistent with current low energy fermion flavor data. In the model under consideration, the light active neutrino masses are generated from a double seesaw mechanism and the observed pattern of charged fermion masses and quark mixing angles is caused by the breaking of the $Δ\left( 27\right) \otimes Z_{4}\otimes Z_{8}\otimes Z_{14}$ discrete group at very high energy. Our model has only 14 effective free parameters, which are fitted to reproduce the experimental values of the 18 physical observables in the quark and lepton sectors. The obtained physical observables for the quark sector agree with their experimental values, whereas those ones for the lepton sector also do, only for the inverted neutrino mass hierarchy. The normal neutrino mass hierarchy scenario of the model is disfavored by the neutrino oscillation experimental data. We find an effective Majorana neutrino mass parameter of neutrinoless double beta decay of $m_{ββ}=$ 22 meV, a leptonic Dirac CP violating phase of $34^{\circ }$ and a Jarlskog invariant of about $10^{-2}$ for the inverted neutrino mass spectrum.

Lepton mass and mixing in a Neutrino Mass Model based on $S_4$ flavor symmetry

We study a neutrino mass model based on $S_4$ flavor symmetry which accommodates lepton mass, mixing with non-zero $θ_{13}$ and CP violation phase. The spontaneous symmetry breaking in the model is imposed to obtain the realistic neutrino mass and mixing pattern at the tree- level with renormalizable interactions. Indeed, the neutrinos get small masses from one $SU(2)_L$ doubplet and two $SU(2)_L$ singlets in which one being in $\underline{2}$ and the two others in $\underline{3}$ under $S_4$ with both the breakings $S_{4}\rightarrow S_3$ and $S_{4}\rightarrow Z_3$ are taken place in charged lepton sector and $S_4\rightarrow \mathcal{K}$ in neutrino sector. The model also gives a remarkable prediction of Dirac CP violation $δ_{CP}=\fracπ{2}$ or $-\fracπ{2}$ in the both normal and inverted spectrum which is still missing in the neutrino mixing matrix. The relation between lepton mixing angles is also represented.

The $Δ(27)$ flavor 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons

We build the first 3-3-1 model based on the $Δ(27)$ discrete group symmetry, consistent with fermion masses and mixings. In the model under consideration, the neutrino masses are generated from a combination of type-I and type-II seesaw mechanisms mediated by three heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos and three $SU(3)_{L}$ scalar antisextets, respectively. Furthermore, from the consistency of the leptonic mixing angles with their experimental values, we obtain a non-vanishing leptonic Dirac CP violating phase of $-\frac{π}{2}$. Our model features an effective Majorana neutrino mass parameter of neutrinoless double beta decay, with values $m_{ββ}=$ 10 and 18 meV for the normal and the inverted neutrino mass hierarchies, respectively.

$T_7$ flavor symmetry scheme for understanding neutrino mass and mixing in 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons

We construct a new version for the 3-3-1 model based on $T_7$ flavor symmetry where the left-handed leptons under $T_7$ differ from those of our previous work while the $\mathrm{SU}(3)_C \otimes \mathrm{SU}(3)_L \otimes \mathrm{U}(1)_X$ gauge symmetry is retain. The flavor mixing patterns and mass splitting are obtained without perturbation. The realistic lepton mixing can be obtained if both the direction of breakings $T_7 \rightarrow Z_3$ and $Z_3 \rightarrow \{\mathrm{Identity}\}$ are taken place in neutrino sector. Maximal CP violation is predicted and CKM matrix is the identity matrix at the tree-level.

Lepton mixing and CP violation phase in the 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons based on T13 flavor symmetry

We study a 3-3-1 model based on non-Abelian discrete symmetry group $T_{13}$ which accommodates lepton mixing with non-zero $θ_{13}$ and CP violation phase. The neutrinos get small masses and mixing with CP violation phase from $SU(3)_L$ antisextets which are all in triplets under $T_{13}$. If both breakings $T_{13}\rightarrow Z_3$ and $Z_{3}\rightarrow \{\mathrm{Identity}\}$ are taken palce in neutrino sector and $T_{13}$ is broken into $Z_3$ in lepton sector, the realistic neutrino mixing form is obtained as a natural consequence of $P_l$ and $T_{13}$ symmetries. The model predicts the lepton mixing with non-zero $θ_{13}$, and also gives a remarkable prediction of Dirac CP violation $δ_{CP}=292.5^\circ$ in the normal spectrum, and $δ_{CP}=303.161^\circ$ in the inverted spectrum which is still missing in the neutrino mixing matrix. There exist some regions of model parameters that can fit the experimental data in 2014 on neutrino masses and mixing without perturbation.

Neutrino mixing with non-zero $θ_{13}$ and CP violation in the 3-3-1 model based on $A_4$ flavor symmetry

We propose a 3-3-1 model with neutral fermions based on $A_4$ flavor symmetry responsible for fermion masses and mixings with non-zero $θ_{13}$. To get realistic neutrino mixing, we just add a new $SU(3)_L$ triplet being in $\underline{3}$ under $A_4$. The neutrinos get small masses from two $SU(3)_L$ antisextets and one $SU(3)_L$ triplet. The model can fit the present data on neutrino masses and mixing as well as the effective mass governing neutrinoless double beta decay. Our results show that the neutrino masses are naturally small and a little deviation from the tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing form can be realized. The Dirac CP violation phase $δ$ is predicted to either $5.41^{\circ}$ or $354.59^{\circ}$ with $θ_{23} \neq \fracπ{4}$.

Quark mass and mixing in the 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons based on $D_4$ flavor symmetry

The $D_4$ flavor model based on $\mathrm{SU}(3)_C \otimes \mathrm{SU}(3)_L \otimes \mathrm{U}(1)_X$ gauge symmetry that aims at describing quark mass and mixing is updated. After spontaneous breaking of flavor symmetry, with the constraint on the Higgs vacuum expectation values (VEVs) in the Yukawa couplings, all of quarks have consistent masses, and a realistic quark mixing matrix can be realized at the first order of perturbation theory.

Neutrino mass and mixing in the 3-3-1 model and S3 flavor symmetry with minimal Higgs content

A new S3 flavor model based on $\mathrm{SU}(3)_C \otimes \mathrm{SU}(3)_L \otimes \mathrm{U}(1)_X$ gauge symmetry responsible for fermion masses and mixings different from our previous work is constructed. The new feature is a two - dimensional representation of a Higgs anti-sextet under $S_3$ which responsible for neutrino masses and mixings. The neutrinos acquire small masses from only an anti-sextet of $\mathrm{SU(3)}$ which is in a doublet under $S_3$. If the difference of components of the anti-sextet is regarded as a small perturbation, S3 is equivalently broken into identity, the corresponding neutrino mass mixing matrix acquires the most general form and the model can fit the latest data on neutrino oscillation. This way of the symmetry breaking helps us to reduce a content in the Higgs sector, only one an anti-sextet instead of two as in our previous work. Our results show that the neutrino masses are naturally small and a small deviation from the tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing form can be realized. The Higgs potential of the model as well as the minimization conditions and gauge boson masses and mixings is also considered.

Neutrino Mixing With Non-Zero $θ_{13}$ In Zee-Babu Model

The exact solution for the neutrino mass matrix of the Zee-Babu model is derived. Tribimaximal mixing imposes conditions on the Yukawa couplings, from which the normal mass hierarchy is preferred. The derived conditions give a possibility of Majorana maximal $\mathrm{CP}$ violation in the neutrino sector. We have shown that non-zero $θ_{13}$ is generated if Yukawa couplings between leptons almost equal to each other. The model gives some regions of the parameters where neutrino mixing angles and the normal neutrino mass hierarchy obtained consistent with the recent experimental data.

The T7 flavor symmetry in 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons

We construct a 3-3-1 model based on non-Abelian discrete symmetry $T_7$ responsible for the fermion masses. Neutrinos get masses from only anti-sextets which are in triplets $\underline{3}$ and $\underline{3}^*$ under $T_7$. The flavor mixing patterns and mass splitting are obtained without perturbation. The tribimaximal form obtained with the breaking $T_7 \rightarrow Z_3$ in charged lepton sector and both $T_7 \rightarrow Z_3$ and $Z_3 \rightarrow \{\mathrm{Identity}\}$ must be taken place in neutrino sector but only apart in breakings $Z_3 \rightarrow \{\mathrm{Identity}\}$ (without contribution of $\si'$), and the upper bound on neutrino mass $\sum_{i=1}^3m_i$ at the level is presented. The Dirac CP violation phase $δ$ is predicted to either $\fracπ{2}$ or $\frac{3π}{2}$ which is maximal CP violation. From the Dirac CP violation phase we obtain the relation between Euler's angles which is consistent with the experimental in PDG 2012. On the other hand, the realistic lepton mixing can be obtained if both the direction for breakings $T_7 \rightarrow Z_3$ and $Z_3 \rightarrow \{\mathrm{Identity}\}$ are taken place in neutrino sectors. The CKM matrix is the identity matrix at the tree-level.

The D_4 flavor symmery in 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons

We construct a $D_4$ flavor model based on SU(3)_C X SU}(3_L X U(1)_X gauge symmetry responsible for fermion masses and mixings. The neutrinos get small masses from antisextets which are in a singlet and a doublet under $D_4$. If the D_4 symmetry is violated as perturbation by a Higgs triplet under SU(3)_L and lying in {1}''' of D_4, the corresponding neutrino mass mixing matrix gets the most general form. In this case, the model can fit the experimental data in 2012 on neutrino masses and mixing. Our results show that the neutrino masses are naturally small and a little deviation from the tribimaximal neutrino mixing form can be realized. The quark masses and mixing matrix are also discussed. In the model under consideration, the CKM matrix can be different from the unit matrix. The scalar potential of the model is more simpler than those of the model based on $S_3$ and $S_4$. Assignation of VEVs to antisextets leads to the mixing of the new gauge bosons and those in the Standard Model. The mixing in the charged gauge bosons as well as the neutral gauge boson is considered.

The S_3 flavor symmetry in 3-3-1 models

We propose two 3-3-1 models (with either neutral fermions or right-handed neutrinos) based on S_3 flavor symmetry responsible for fermion masses and mixings. The models can be distinguished upon the new charge embedding (\mathcal{L}) relevant to lepton number. The neutrino small masses can be given via a cooperation of type I and type II seesaw mechanisms. The latest data on neutrino oscillation can be fitted provided that the flavor symmetry is broken via two different directions S_3 \rightarrow Z_2 and S_3 \rightarrow Z_3 (or equivalently in the sequel S_3 \rightarrow Z_2 \rightarrow Identity), in which the second direction is due to a scalar triplet and another antisextet as small perturbation. In addition, breaking of either lepton parity in the model with neutral fermions or lepton number in the model with right-handed neutrinos must be happened due to the \mathcal{L}-violating scalar potential. The TeV seesaw scale can be naturally recognized in the former model. The degenerate masses of fermion pairs (μ, τ), (c, t) and (s, b) are respectively separated due to the S_3 \rightarrow Z_3 breaking.

preprint2010arXiv

The 3-3-1 model with S_4 flavor symmetry

We construct a 3-3-1 model based on family symmetry S_4 responsible for the neutrino and quark masses. The tribimaximal neutrino mixing and the diagonal quark mixing have been obtained. The new lepton charge \mathcal{L} related to the ordinary lepton charge L and a SU(3) charge by L=2/\sqrt{3} T_8+\mathcal{L} and the lepton parity P_l=(-)^L known as a residual symmetry of L have been introduced which provide insights in this kind of model. The expected vacuum alignments resulting in potential minimization can origin from appropriate violation terms of S_4 and \mathcal{L}. The smallness of seesaw contributions can be explained from the existence of such terms too. If P_l is not broken by the vacuum values of the scalar fields, there is no mixing between the exotic and the ordinary quarks at the tree level.
