Non-Stationary Measurements of Chiral Magnetic Effect

We discuss Chiral Magnetic Effect from quantum theory of measurements point of view for non-stationary measurements. The effect of anisotropy for fluctuations of electric currents in magnetic field is addressed. It is shown that anisotropy caused by nonzero axial chemical potential is indistinguishable in this framework from anisotropy caused by finite measurement time or finite lifetime of the magnetic field, and in all cases it is related to abelian triangle anomaly. Possible P-odd effects for central heavy ions collisions (where Chiral Magnetic Effect is absent) are discussed in this context.

Phase transformation B1 to B2 in TiC, TiN, ZrC and ZrN under pressure

Phase stability of various phases of MX (M = Ti, Zr; X = C, N) at equilibrium and under pressure is examined based on first-principles calculations of the electronic and phonon structures. The results reveal that all B1 (NaCl-type) MX structures undergo a phase transition to the B2-structures under high pressure in agreement with the previous total-energy calculations. The B1-MX structures are dynamically stable under very high pressure (210-570 GPa). The pressure-induced B2 (CsCl-type) MC phases are dynamically unstable even at high pressures, and TiN and ZrN are found to crystallize with the B2-structure only at pressures above 55 GPa. The first-order B1-to-B2 phase transition in these nitrides is not related to the softening of phonon modes, and the dynamical instability of B2-MX is associated with a high density of states at the Fermi level.

Notes on chiral hydrodynamics within effective theory approach

We address the issue of evaluating chiral effects (such as the newly discovered chiral separation) in hydrodynamic approximation. The main tool we use is effective theory which defines interaction in terms of chemical potentials $μ,μ_5$. In the lowest order in $μ,μ_5$ we reproduce recent results based on thermodynamic considerations. In higher orders the results depend on details of infrared cutoff. Another point of our interest is an alternative way of the anomaly matching through introduction of effective scalar fields arising in the hydrodynamic approximation.

Confinement Mechanism in the Field Correlator Method

Confinement in QCD is caused by vacuum fluctuations of gluon fields. There are two numerically different scales, characterizing nonperturbative QCD vacuum dynamics: a "small" scale, corresponding to gluon condensate, critical temperature etc, which is about 0.2-0.3 GeV, and a "large" one, given by inverse confining string width, glueball and gluelump masses etc, which is about 1.5-2.5 GeV. We discuss this mismatch in a picture where confinement is ensured by two-point gauge-invariant field strength correlator of special type. It supports most of perturbative and nonperturbative dynamics, while contribution of other terms is argued to be small. This object, on the other hand, can be expressed via gluelump Green's function, whose dynamics is defined in terms of the same correlator. In this way one obtains a self-consistent scheme of mean-field type leading to permanent confinement at temperatures less than the critical one.

Nonlocal field correlators on the lattice in HP^1 sigma-model

Connected two-point field strength correlators have been measured on the lattice in quaternionic projective sigma-model of pure SU(2) Yang-Mills theory. The correlation lengths, extracted from the exponential fit for these correlators, are found to be lambda_1^{-1} = 1.40(3) GeV and lambda^{-1} = 1.51(3) GeV in good agreement with other existing calculations. The dependence of bilocal functions on the connector shape was studied.

Dissipative Dynamics of Collisionless Nonlinear Alfven Wave Trains

The nonlinear dynamics of collisionless Alfven trains, including resonant particle effects is studied using the kinetic nonlinear Schroedinger (KNLS) equation model. Numerical solutions of the KNLS reveal the dynamics of Alfven waves to be sensitive to the sense of polarization as well as the angle of propagation with respect to the ambient magnetic field. The combined effects of both wave nonlinearity and Landau damping result in the evolutionary formation of stationaryOA S- and arc-polarized directional and rotational discontinuities. These waveforms are freqently observed in the interplanetary plasma.

The Light-Cone nonperturbative dynamics of meson wave functions

The light-cone Hamiltonian, incorporating the nonperturbative dynamics of the $q\bar q$ system connected by the string is solved numerically. The spectrum is shown to coincide with that of the center-of-mass Hamiltonian within the accuracy of computation, displaying the expected degeneracies of the string states, but an overall shift due to different treatment of Z-graphs is obtained. The nonperturbative wave functions are calculated directly from the light-cone Hamiltonian for the first time, thus allowing the explicit estimation of nonperturbative effects in the parton model language. In this way one obtains the string contribution to the parton distributions and in the formfactors and structure functions.

Fluid Models for Kinetic Effects on Coherent Nonlinear Alfven Waves. II. Numerical Solutions

The influence of various kinetic effects (e.g. Landau damping, diffusive and collisional dissipation, and finite Larmor radius terms) on the nonlinear evolution of finite amplitude Alfvenic wave trains in a finite-beta environment is systematically investigated using a novel, kinetic nonlinear Schrodinger (KNLS) equation. The dynamics of Alfven waves is sensitive to the sense of polarization as well as the angle of propagation with respect to the ambient magnetic field. Numerical solution for the case with Landau damping reveals the formation of dissipative structures, which are quasi-stationary, S-polarized directional (and rotational) discontinuities which self-organize from parallel propagating, linearly polarized waves. Parallel propagating circularly polarized packets evolve to a few circularly polarized Alfven harmonics on large scales. Stationary arc-polarized rotational discontinuities form from obliquely propagating waves. Collisional dissipation, even if weak, introduces enhanced wave damping when beta is very close to unity. Cyclotron motion effects on resonant particle interactions introduce cyclotron resonance into the nonlinear Alfven wave dynamics.

Production of scalar $K\bar K$ molecules in $ϕ$ radiative decays

The potentialities of the production of the scalar $K\bar K$ molecules in the $ϕ$ radiative decays are considered beyond the narrow resonance width approximation. It is shown that $BR(ϕ\rightarrowγf_0(a_0)\rightarrowγππ(πη))\approx (1÷2)\times 10^{-5}\ ,\BR(ϕ\rightarrowγ(f_0+a_0)\rightarrowγK^+K^-)\alt 10^{-6}$ and $BR(ϕ\rightarrowγ(f_0+a_0) \to γK^0\bar K^0)\alt 10^{-8}$. The mass spectra in the $ππ ,\ πη ,\ K^+K^-\ ,\ K^0\bar K^0$ channels are calculated. The imaginary part of the amplitude $ϕ\rightarrowγf_0(a_0)$ is calculated analytically. It is obtained the phase of the scalar resonance production amplitude that causes the interference patterns in the reaction $e^+e^-\rightarrowγπ^+π^-$ in the $ϕ$ meson mass region.
