Probability representation of quantum dynamics using pseudostochastic maps

In this work, we consider a probability representation of quantum dynamics for finite-dimensional quantum systems with the use of pseudostochastic maps acting on true probability distributions. These probability distributions are obtained via symmetric informationally complete positive operator-valued measure (SIC-POVM) and can be directly accessible in an experiment. We provide SIC-POVM probability representations both for unitary evolution of the density matrix governed by the von Neumann equation and dissipative evolution governed by Markovian master equation. In particular, we discuss whereas the quantum dynamics can be simulated via classical random processes in terms of the conditions for the master equation generator in the SIC-POVM probability representation. We construct practical measures of nonclassicality non-Markovianity of quantum processes and apply them for studying experimental realization of quantum circuits realized with the IBM cloud quantum processor.

Dynamics of a harmonic oscillator coupled with a Glauber amplifier

A system of a quantum harmonic oscillator bi-linearly coupled with a Glauber amplifier is analysed considering a time-dependent Hamiltonian model. The Hilbert space of this system may be exactly subdivided into invariant finite dimensional subspaces. Resorting to the Jordan-Schwinger map, the dynamical problem within each invariant subspace may be traced back to an effective SU(2) Hamiltonian model expressed in terms of spin variables only. This circumstance allows to analytically solve the dynamical problem and thus to study the exact dynamics of the oscillator-amplifier system under specific time-dependent scenarios. Peculiar physical effects are brought to light by comparing the dynamics of such a system with that of two interacting standard oscillators.

Conditions for quantum and classical tomogram-like functions to describe system states and to retain normalization during evolution

It is shown that dynamical equations for quantum tomograms retain the normalization conditions of their solutions during evolution only if the solutions satisfy a set of special conditions. These conditions are found explicitly. On the contrary, it is also shown that the classical Liouville equation, Moyal equation for Wigner function, and evolution equation for Husimi function retain normalization of any initially normalized and quickly decaying at infinity functions on the phase space. Other necessary and sufficient conditions for optical and symplectic tomogram-like functions to be tomograms of physical states are discussed.

Deriving Entropic Inequalities for Two Coupled Superconducting Circuits

We discuss the known construction of two interacting superconducting circuits, based on Josephson junctions, that can be precisely engineered and easily controlled. In particular, we use the parametric excitation of two circuits, realized by an instant change of the qubit coupling, to study entropic and information properties of the density matrix of the composite system. The density matrix is obtained from the initial thermal state and is then analyzed in the approximation of small perturbation parameter and sufficiently low temperature. We also check the subadditivity condition for this system both for von Neumann and deformed entropies and look at the dependance of mutual information on the temperature of the system. Finally, we discuss the applicability of this approach to describe such system of two coupled superconducting qubits as harmonic oscillators with limited Hilbert space.

Entopy-energy inequality for superconducting qutrit

We compare the entropy-energy inequality and the von Neumann entropic inequality for three level atom implemented on superconducting circuits with Josephson junction. The positivity of entropy and energy relations for the qutrit system are used for verification of state tomography of qudit systems. The results obtained are valid for generic quantum states (qudits) and are illustrated on the example of the temperature density matrix of the single qutrit state.

Information processing using three-qubit and qubit-qutrit encodings of noncomposite quantum systems

We study quantum information properties of a seven-level system realized by a particle in an one-dimensional square-well trap. Features of encodings of seven-level systems in a form of three-qubit or qubit-qutrit systems are discussed. We use the three-qubit encoding of the system in order to investigate subadditivity and strong subadditivity conditions for the thermal state of the particle. The qubit-qutrit encoding is employed to suggest a single qudit algorithm for calculation of parity of a bit string. Obtained results indicate on the potential resource of multilevel systems for realization of quantum information processing.

Photon distributions and information nonnegativity versus quadrature uncertainty relation

Using entropic inequalities for Shannon entropies new inequalities for some classical polynomials are obtained. To this end, photon distribution functions for one-, two- and multi-mode squeezed states in terms of Hermite, Laguerre, Legendre polynomials and Gauss' hypergeometric functions are used. The dependence between the violation of the quadrature uncertainty relation, the sign and the existence of the distribution function of such states is considered.

Teleportation in an indivisible quantum system

Teleportation protocol is conventionally treated as a method for quantum state transfer between two spatially separated physical carriers. Recent experimental progress in manipulation with high-dimensional quantum systems opens a new framework for implementation of teleportation protocols. We show that the one-qubit teleportation can be considered as a state transfer between subspaces of the whole Hilbert space of an indivisible eight-dimensional system. We explicitly show all corresponding operations and discuss an alternative way of implementation of similar tasks.

The quantum-to-classical transition: contraction of associative products

The quantum-to-classical transition is considered from the point of view of contractions of associative algebras. Various methods and ideas to deal with contractions of associative algebras are discussed that account for a large family of examples. As an instance of them, the commutative algebra of functions in phase space, corresponding to classical physical observables, is obtained as a contraction of the Moyal star-product which characterizes the quantum case. Contractions of associative algebras associated to Lie algebras are discussed, in particular the Weyl-Heisenberg and $SU(2)$ groups are considered.

Weighted information and weighted entropic inequalities for qutrit and ququart states

The notion of weighted quantum entropy is reviewed and considered for bipartite and noncomposite quantum systems. The known for the weighted entropy information inequality (subadditivity condition) is extended to the case of indivisible qudit system on example of qutrit. This new inequality for qutrit density matrix is discussed for different cases of weights and states. The role of weighted entropy is discussed in connection with studies of nonlinear quantum channels.

Evolution Equation for Joint Tomographic Probability Distribution of Spin-1 Particles

The nine-component positive vector optical tomographic probability portrait of quantum state of spin-1 particles containing full spatial and spin information about the state without redundancy is constructed. Also the suggested approach is expanded to symplectic tomography representation and to representations with quasidistributions. The evolution equations for constructed vector optical and symplectic tomograms and vector quasidistributions for arbitrary Hamiltonian are found. The evolution equations are also obtained in special case of the quantum system of charged spin-1 particle in arbitrary electro-magnetic field, which are analogs of non-relativistic Proca equation in appropriate representations. The generalization of proposed approach to the cases of arbitrary spin is discussed. The possibility of formulation of quantum mechanics of the systems with spins in terms of joint probability distributions without the use of wave functions or density matrixes is explicitly demonstrated.

Inequalities for purity parameters for multipartite and single qudit states

We analyze a recently found inequality for eigenvalues of the density matrix and purity parameter describing either a bipartite system state or a single qudit state. The Minkowski type trace inequality for the density matrices of the qudit states is rewritten in terms of the purities. The properties of the obtained inequality are discussed. The $X$-states of the two qubits and the single qudit are considered in detail. A study of the relation of the obtained purity inequalities with the entanglement is presented.

Multilevel superconducting circuits as two-qubit systems: Operations, state preparation, and entropic inequalities

We theoretically study operations with a four-level superconducting circuit as a two-qubit system. Using a mapping on a two-qubit system, we show how to implement iSWAP gates and Hadamard gates through pulses on transitions between particular pairs of energy levels. Our approach allows one to prepare pure two-qubit entangled states with desired form of reduced density matrices of the same purity and, in particular, arbitrary identical reduced states of qubits. We propose using schemes for the Hadamard gate and two-qubit entangled states with identical reduced density matrices in order to verify $\log{N}$ inequalities for Shannon and Rényi entropies for the considered noncomposite quantum system.

On pseudo-stochastic matrices and pseudo-positive maps

Stochastic matrices and positive maps in matrix algebras proved to be very important tools for analysing classical and quantum systems. In particular they represent a natural set of transformations for classical and quantum states, respectively. Here we introduce the notion of pseudo-stochastic matrices and consider their semigroup property. Unlike stochastic matrices, pseudo-stochastic matrices are permitted to have matrix elements which are negative while respecting the requirement that the sum of the elements of each column is one. They also allow for convex combinations, and carry a Lie group structure which permits the introduction of Lie algebra generators. The quantum analog of a pseudo-stochastic matrix exists and is called a pseudo-positive map. They have the property of transforming a subset of quantum states (characterized by maximal purity or minimal von Neumann entropy requirements) into quantum states. Examples of qubit dynamics connected with "diamond" sets of stochastic matrices and pseudo-positive maps are dealt with.

On Testing Entropic Inequalities for Superconducting Qudit

The aim of this work is to verify the new entropic and information inequalities for non-composite systems using experimental $5 \times 5$ density matrix of the qudit state, measured by the tomographic method in a multi-level superconducting circuit. These inequalities are well-known for bipartite and tripartite systems, but have never been tested for superconducting qudits. Entropic inequalities can also be used to evaluate the accuracy of experimental data and the value of mutual information, deduced from them, may charachterize correlations between different degrees of freedom in a noncomposite system.

Single qudit realization of the Deutsch algorithm using superconducting many-level quantum circuits

Design of a large-scale quantum computer has paramount importance for science and technologies. We investigate a scheme for realization of quantum algorithms using noncomposite quantum systems, i.e., systems without subsystems. In this framework, $n$ artificially allocated "subsystems" play a role of qubits in $n$-qubits quantum algorithms. With focus on two-qubit quantum algorithms, we demonstrate a realization of the universal set of gates using a $d=5$ single qudit state. Manipulation for an ancillary level in the systems allows effective implementation of operators from ${\rm U}(4)$ group via operators from ${\rm SU}(5)$ group. Using a possible experimental realization of such systems through anharmonic superconducting many-level quantum circuits, we present a blueprint for a single qudit realization of the Deutsch algorithm, which generalizes previously studied realization based on the virtual spin representation [A.R. Kessel et al., Phys. Rev. A 66, 062322 (2002)].

Steering in spin tomographic probability representation

The steering property known for two qubit-state in terms of specific inequalities for correlation function is translated for the state of qudit with the spin $j=3/2$. Since most steering detection inequalities are based on the correlation functions we introduce analogs of such functions for the single qudit systems. The tomographic probability representation for the qudit states is applied. The connection between the correlation function in two qubit system and the single qudit is presented in an integral form with a intertwining kernel calculated explicitly in tomographic probability terms.

Tomographic discord for a system of two coupled nanoelectric circuits

We consider quantum correlations and quantum discord phenomena for two-qubit states with $X$-type density matrices in the tomographic framework of quantum mechanics. By introducing different measurements schemes, we establish the relation between tomographic approach to quantum discord, symmetric discord, and measurement-induced disturbance. In our consideration, $X$-states appear as approximations of ground and low temperature thermal states of two coupled harmonic oscillators realized by nanoelectric $LC$-circuits. Possibilities for control the amounts of correlations and entropic asymmetry due to variation of the frequency detuning and the coupling constant are also considered.

Entropic and information inequality for nonlinearly transformed two-qubit X-states

The entropic and information inequalities for two qubit X-states transformed by the nonlinear channels are given in explicit form. The subadditivity condition and nonnegativity of von Neumann quantum information are studied for both initial X-state and the state after action of the nonlinear channel. Partial case of Werner state is considered in detail. We shown that the von Neumann information increases due to action of the nonlinear channel. We generalize the results obtained for Werner state in our earlier article [J. Russ. Laser Res., \textbf{35}, iss. 3 (2014)] to the case of X-state of two qubit system. We study the influence of nonlinear channel acting on X-state of two qubit system onto von Neumann mutual information.

New Minkowski type inequalities and entropic inequalities for quantum states of qudits

The two-parameter Minkowski like inequality written for composite quantum system state is obtained for arbitrary Hermitian nonnegative matrix with trace equal to unity. The inequality can be used as entropic and information inequality for density matrix of noncomposite finite quantum system, e.g., for a single qudit state. The analogs of strong subadditivity condition for the single qudit is discussed in context of obtained Minkowski like inequality.

Nonlinear channels of Werner states

The nonlinear positive map of density matrix of two-qubit Werner state called nonlinear channel is studied. The map of density matrix is realized by rational function. The influence of the map onto the entanglement properties of the transformed density matrix is discussed. The violation of Bell inequality (CHSH inequality) for the two-qubit state is investigated. The nonlinear channels under discussion create the entangled state from separable Werner state. The quantum spin-tomograms of the states are studied.

Pauli equation for joint tomographic probability distribution of spin 1/2 particle

The positive vector optical tomogram fully describing the quantum state of spin 1/2 particle without any redundancy is introduced. Reciprocally the vector symplectic tomogram and vector quasidistributions $\vec W({\mathbf q},{\mathbf p})$, $\vec Q({\mathbf q},{\mathbf p})$, $\vec P(\vecα)$ are introduced. The evolution equations for proposed vector optical and symplectic tomograms and vector quasidistributions for arbitrary Hamiltonian are obtained. The quantum system of charged spin 1/2 particle in arbitrary electro-magnetic field is considered in proposed representations and evolution equations which are analogs of Pauli equation are obtained. The propagator of evolution equation in the case of homogeneous and stationary magnetic field in Landau gauge is found and the evolution of initial entangled superposition of lower Landau levels in the vector optical representation is considered. The system of linear quantum oscillator with spin in vector optical tomography representation is considered and the evolution of initial entangled superposition of two lower Fock states and spin-up, spin-down states is studied in this representation.

Separability and entanglement of spin $1$ particle

We define the separability and entanglement notion for particle with spin $s=1$. We consider two cases. In the first the particle is composed of two fermions with $s_1=1/2$ and $s_2=1/2$. In the second case the state is the qutrit state which is not composed system. The notion of negativity and concurrence is defined for the qutrit state. The concurrence and negativity of entangled and separable qutrit states determined by the parameters of the density matrix are explicitly calculated. The maximum entanglement of the qutrit state is observed for maximum values of non diagonal matrix elements of the density matrix. New entropic inequalities for the density matrix of the qutrit state are obtained.

Separability and entanglement of the qudit X-state with j = 3/2

The qudit state for j = 3=2 with density matrix of the form corresponding to X-state of two-qubits is studied from the point of view of entanglement and separability properties. The method of qubit portrait of qudit states is used to get the entropic inequalities for the entangled state of the single qudit. The tomographic probability representation of the qudit X-state under consideration and its Shannon and q-entropic characteristics are presented in explicit form.

Single photon-added coherent states: estimation of parameters and fidelity of the optical homodyne detection

Travelling modes of single-photon-added coherent states (SPACS) are characterized via optical homodyne tomography. Given a set of experimentally measured quadrature distributions, we estimate parameters of the state and also extract information about the detector efficiency. The method used is a minimal distance estimation between theoretical and experimental quantities, which additionally allows to evaluate the precision of estimated parameters. Given experimental data, we also estimate the lower and upper bounds on fidelity. The results are believed to encourage preciser engineering and detection of SPACS.

Stochastic evolution of finite level systems: classical vs. quantum

Quantum dynamics of the density operator in the framework of a single probability vector is analyzed. In this framework quantum states define a proper convex quantum subset in an appropriate simplex. It is showed that the corresponding dynamical map preserving a quantum subset needs not be stochastic contrary to the classical evolution which preserves the entire simplex. Therefore, violation of stochasticity witnesses quantumness of evolution.

The qubit portrait method is used the Bell inequality violation which provides another tool to prove the property of entanglement of the four-qubit state under consideration.

Generalized quantum tomographic maps

Some non-linear generalizations of classical Radon tomography were recently introduced by M. Asorey et al [Phys. Rev. A 77, 042115 (2008), where the straight lines of the standard Radon map are replaced by quadratic curves (ellipses, hyperbolas, circles) or quadratic surfaces (ellipsoids, hyperboloids, spheres). We consider here the quantum version of this novel non-linear approach and obtain, by systematic use of the Weyl map, a tomographic encoding approach to quantum states. Non-linear quantum tomograms admit a simple formulation within the framework of the star-product quantization scheme and the reconstruction formulae of the density operators are explicitly given in a closed form, with an explicit construction of quantizers and dequantizers. The role of symmetry groups behind the generalized tomographic maps is analyzed in some detail. We also introduce new generalizations of the standard singular dequantizers of the symplectic tomographic schemes, where the Dirac delta-distributions of operator-valued arguments are replaced by smooth window functions, giving rise to the new concept of "thick" quantum tomography. Applications for quantum state measurements of photons and matter waves are discussed.

On the tomographic description of classical fields

After a general description of the tomographic picture for classical systems, a tomographic description of free classical scalar fields is proposed both in a finite cavity and the continuum. The tomographic description is constructed in analogy with the classical tomographic picture of an ensemble of harmonic oscillators. The tomograms of a number of relevant states such as the canonical distribution, the classical counterpart of quantum coherent states and a new family of so called Gauss--Laguerre states, are discussed. Finally the Liouville equation for field states is described in the tomographic picture offering an alternative description of the dynamics of the system that can be extended naturally to other fields.

State-extended uncertainly relations and tomographic inequalities as quantum system state characteristics

Some inequalities for probability vector are discussed. The probability representation of quantum mechanics where the states are mapped onto probability vectors (either finite or infinite dimensional) called the state tomograms is used. Examples of inequalities for qudit tomograms and a state extended uncertainly relation are considered. Tomographic cumulant related to photon state tomographic probability distributions is introduced and it is used as parameter of the state nongaussianity.

Tomographic Probability Representation for States of Charge moving in Varying Field

The coherent and Fock states of a charge moving in varying homogeneous magnetic field are studied in the tomographic probability representation of quantum mechanics. The states are expressed in terms of quantum tomograms. The coherent states tomograms are shown to be described by normal distributions with varying dispersions and means. The Fock state tomograms are given in the form of probability distributions described by multivariable Hermite polynomials with time-dependent arguments.

Towards higher precision and operational use of optical homodyne tomograms

We present the results of an operational use of experimentally measured optical tomograms to determine state characteristics (purity) avoiding any reconstruction of quasiprobabilities. We also develop a natural way how to estimate the errors (including both statistical and systematic ones) by an analysis of the experimental data themselves. Precision of the experiment can be increased by postselecting the data with minimal (systematic) errors. We demonstrate those techniques by considering coherent and photon-added coherent states measured via the time-domain improved homodyne detection. The operational use and precision of the data allowed us to check for the first time purity-dependent uncertainty relations and uncertainty relations for Shannon and Rényi entropies.

Two--mode optical tomograms: a possible experimental check of the Robertson uncertainty relations

The experimental check of two--mode Robertson uncertainty relations and inequalities for highest quadrature moments is suggested by using homodyne photon detection. The relation between optical tomograms and symplectic tomograms is used to connect the tomographic dispersion matrix and the quadrature components dispersion matrix of the two--mode field states.

Homodyne extimation of quantum states purity by exploiting covariant uncertainty relation

We experimentally verify uncertainty relations for mixed states in the tomographic representation by measuring the radiation field tomograms, i.e. homodyne distributions. Thermal states of single-mode radiation field are discussed in details as paradigm of mixed quantum state. By considering the connection between generalised uncertainty relations and optical tomograms is seen that the purity of the states can be retrieved by statistical analysis of the homodyne data. The purity parameter assumes a relevant role in quantum information where the effective fidelities of protocols depend critically on the purity of the information carrier states. In this contest the homodyne detector becomes an easy to handle purity-meter for the state on-line with a running quantum information protocol.

Non-commutative tomography: A tool for data analysis and signal processing

Tomograms, a generalization of the Radon transform to arbitrary pairs of non-commuting operators, are positive bilinear transforms with a rigorous probabilistic interpretation which provide a full characterization of the signal and are robust in the presence of noise. Optical tomography of Fock state superpositions

We consider optical tomography of photon Fock state superpositions in connection with recent experimental achievements. The emphasis is put on the fact that it suffices to represent the measured tomogram as a main result of the experiment. We suggest a test for checking the correctness of experimental data. Explicit expressions for optical tomograms of Fock state superpositions are given in terms of Hermite polynomials. Particular cases of vacuum and low photon-number state superposition are considered as well as influence of thermal noise on state purity is studied.

Probability representation of quantum evolution and energy level equations for optical tomograms

The von Neumann evolution equation for density matrix and the Moyal equation for the Wigner function are mapped onto evolution equation for optical tomogram of quantum state. The connection with known evolution equation for symplectic tomogram of the quantum state is clarified. The stationary states corresponding to quantum energy levels are associated with the probability representation of the von Neumann and Moyal equations written for the optical tomograms. Classical Liouville equation for optical tomogram is obtained. Example of parametric oscillator is considered in detail.

Robustness of raw quantum tomography

We scrutinize the effects of non-ideal data acquisition on the homodyne tomograms of photon quantum states. The presence of a weight function, schematizing the effects of the finite thickness of the probing beam or equivalently noise, only affects the state reconstruction procedure by a normalization constant. The results are extended to a discrete mesh and show that quantum tomography is robust under incomplete and approximate knowledge of tomograms.

Star product and ordered moments of photon creation and annihilation operators

We develop a star-product scheme of symbols defined by the normally ordered powers of the creation and annihilation photon operators, (a†)^m a^n. The corresponding phase space is a two-dimensional lattice with nodes (m,n) given by pairs of nonnegative integers. The star-product kernel of symbols on the lattice and intertwining kernels to other schemes are found in explicit form. Analysis of peculiar properties of the star-product kernel results in new sum relations for factorials. Advantages of the developed star-product scheme for describing dynamics of quantum systems are discussed and time evolution equations in terms of the ordered moments are derived.

Unitary and Non-Unitary Matrices as a Source of Different Bases of Operators Acting on Hilbert Spaces

Columns of d^2 x N matrices are shown to create different sets of N operators acting on $d$-dimensional Hilbert space. This construction corresponds to a formalism of the star-product of operator symbols. The known bases are shown to be partial cases of generic formulas derived by using d^2 x N matrices as a source for constructing arbitrary bases. The known examples of the SIC-POVM, MUBs, and the phase-space description of qubit states are considered from the viewpoint of the developed unified approach. Star-product schemes are classified with respect to associated d^2 x N matrices. In particular, unitary matrices correspond to self-dual schemes. Such self-dual star-product schemes are shown to be determined by dequantizers which do not form POVM.

Classical and Quantum Fisher Information in the Geometrical Formulation of Quantum Mechanics

The tomographic picture of quantum mechanics has brought the description of quantum states closer to that of classical probability and statistics. On the other hand, the geometrical formulation of quantum mechanics introduces a metric tensor and a symplectic tensor (Hermitian tensor) on the space of pure states. By putting these two aspects together, we show that the Fisher information metric, both classical and quantum, can be described by means of the Hermitian tensor on the manifold of pure states.

Inverse spin-s portrait and representation of qudit states by single probability vectors

Using the tomographic probability representation of qudit states and the inverse spin-portrait method, we suggest a bijective map of the qudit density operator onto a single probability distribution. Within the framework of the approach proposed, any quantum spin-j state is associated with the (2j+1)(4j+1)-dimensional probability vector whose components are labeled by spin projections and points on the sphere. Such a vector has a clear physical meaning and can be relatively easily measured. Quantum states form a convex subset of the 2j(4j+3) simplex, with the boundary being illustrated for qubits (j=1/2) and qutrits (j=1). A relation to the (2j+1)^2- and (2j+1)(2j+2)-dimensional probability vectors is established in terms of spin-s portraits. We also address an auxiliary problem of the optimum reconstruction of qudit states, where the optimality implies a minimum relative error of the density matrix due to the errors in measured probabilities.

Time evolution of muonium, anomalous muonium, and a muonium-like system is studied in the tomographic representation. Mutually unbiased bases: tomography of spin states and star-product scheme

Mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) are considered within the framework of a generic star-product scheme. We rederive that a full set of MUBs is adequate for a spin tomography, i.e. knowledge of all probabilities to find a system in each MUB-state is enough for a state reconstruction. Extending the ideas of the tomographic-probability representation and the star-product scheme to MUB-tomography, dequantizer and quantizer operators for MUB-symbols of spin states and operators are introduced, ordinary and dual star-product kernels are found. Since MUB-projectors are to obey specific rules of the star-product scheme, we reveal the Lie algebraic structure of MUB-projectors and derive new relations on triple- and four-products of MUB-projectors. Example of qubits is considered in detail. MUB-tomography by means of Stern-Gerlach apparatus is discussed.

Symmetric informationally complete positive operator valued measure and probability representation of quantum mechanics

Symmetric informationally complete positive operator valued measures (SIC-POVMs) are studied within the framework of the probability representation of quantum mechanics. A SIC-POVM is shown to be a special case of the probability representation. The problem of SIC-POVM existence is formulated in terms of symbols of operators associated with a star-product quantization scheme. We show that SIC-POVMs (if they do exist) must obey general rules of the star product, and, starting from this fact, we derive new relations on SIC-projectors. The case of qubits is considered in detail, in particular, the relation between the SIC probability representation and other probability representations is established, the connection with mutually unbiased bases is discussed, and comments to the Lie algebraic structure of SIC-POVMs are presented.

A tomographic description for classical and quantum cosmological perturbations

Classical and quantum perturbations can be described in terms of marginal distribution functions in the framework of tomographic cosmology. In particular, the so called Radon transformation and the mode-parametric quantum oscillator description can give rise to links between quantum and classical regimes. The approach results a natural scheme to discuss the transition from the quantum to the classical perturbations and then it could be a workable scheme to connect primordial fluctuations with the today observed large scale structure.

An introduction to the tomographic picture of quantum mechanics

Starting from the famous Pauli problem on the possibility to associate quantum states with probabilities, the formulation of quantum mechanics in which quantum states are described by fair probability distributions (tomograms, i.e. tomographic probabilities) is reviewed in a pedagogical style. The relation between the quantum state description and the classical state description is elucidated. The difference of those sets of tomograms is described by inequalities equivalent to a complete set of uncertainty relations for the quantum domain and to nonnegativity of probability density on phase space in the classical domain. Intersection of such sets is studied. The mathematical mechanism which allows to construct different kinds of tomographic probabilities like symplectic tomograms, spin tomograms, photon number tomograms, etc., is clarified and a connection with abstract Hilbert space properties is established. Superposition rule and uncertainty relations in terms of probabilities as well as quantum basic equation like quantum evolution and energy spectra equations are given in explicit form. A method to check experimentally uncertainty relations is suggested using optical tomograms. Entanglement phenomena and the connection with semigroups acting on simplexes are studied in detail for spin states in the case of two qubits. The star-product formalism is associated with the tomographic probability formulation of quantum mechanics.

A probabilistic operator symbol framework for quantum information

Hilbert space operators may be mapped onto a space of ordinary functions (operator symbols) equipped with an associative (but noncommutative) star-product. A unified framework for such maps is reviewed. Because of its clear probabilistic interpretation, a particular class of operator symbols (tomograms) is proposed as a framework for quantum information problems. Qudit states are identified with maps of the unitary group into the simplex. The image of the unitary group on the simplex provides a geometrical characterization of the nature of the quantum states. Generalized measurements, typical quantum channels, entropies and entropy inequalities are discussed in this setting.

Cosmological dynamics in tomographic probability representation

The probability representation for quantum states of the universe in which the states are described by a fair probability distribution instead of wave function (or density matrix) is developed to consider cosmological dynamics. The evolution of the universe state is described by standard positive transition probability (tomographic transition probability) instead of the complex transition probability amplitude (Feynman path integral) of the standard approach. The latter one is expressed in terms of the tomographic transition probability. Examples of minisuperspaces in the framework of the suggested approach are presented. Possibility of observational applications of the universe tomographs are discussed.

Quantum sensitive dependence

Wave functions of bounded quantum systems with time-independent potentials, being almost periodic functions, cannot have time asymptotics as in classical chaos. However, bounded quantum systems with time-dependent interactions, as used in quantum control, may have continuous spectrum and the rate of growth of observables is an issue of both theoretical and practical concern. Rates of growth in quantum mechanics are discussed by constructing quantities with the same physical meaning as those involved in the classical Lyapunov exponent. A generalized notion of quantum sensitive dependence is introduced and the mathematical structure of the operator matrix elements that correspond to different types of growth is characterized.

f-Oscillators and Nonlinear Coherent States

The notion of f-oscillators generalizing q-oscillators is introduced. For classical and quantum cases, an interpretation of the f-oscillator is provided as corresponding to a special nonlinearity of vibration for which the frequency of oscillation depends on the energy. The f-coherent states (nonlinear coherent states) generalizing q-coherent states are constructed. Applied to quantum optics, photon distribution function, photon number means, and dispersions are calculated for the f-coherent states as well as the Wigner function and Q-function. As an example, it is shown how this nonlinearity may affect the Planck distribution formula.

Coherent States for Particle Beams in the Thermal Wave Model

In this paper, by using an analogy among {\it quantum mechanics}, {\it electromagnetic beam optics in optical fibers}, and {\it charge particle beam dynamics}, we introduce the concept of {\it coherent states} for charged particle beams in the framework of the {\it Thermal Wave Model} (TWM). We give a physical meaning of the Gaussian-like coherent structures of charged particle distribution that are both naturally and artificially produced in an accelerating machine in terms of the concept of coherent states widely used in quantum mechanics and in quantum optics. According to TWM, this can be done by using a Schrödinger-like equation for a complex function, the so-called {\it beam wave function} (BWF), whose squared modulus is proportional to the transverse beam density profile, where Planck's constant and the time are replaced by the transverse beam emittance and by the propagation coordinate, respectively. The evolution of the particle beam, whose initial BWF is assumed to be the simplest coherent state (ground-like state) associated with the beam, in an infinite 1-D quadrupole-like device with small sextupole and octupole aberrations, is analytically and numerically investigated.

Husimi Parametric Oscillator in Frame of Symplectic Group and Q-oscillators

Time--dependent integrals of motion which are linear forms in position and momentum are discussed for Husimi parametric forced oscillator. Generalization of these integrals of motion for q--oscillator is presented. Squeezing and quadrature correlation phenomena are discussed on the base of Schrödinger uncertainty relation. The properties of the generalized correlated states, squeezed states, even and odd coherent states (the Schrödinger cat states) are reviewed. The relation of the constructed nonclassical states to representations of the symplectic symmetry group and finite symmetry groups is discussed.

Statistical Properties of Schrödinger Real and Imaginary Cat States

We study the Photon statistics in the superpositions of coherent states $|α\rangle$ and $|α^*\rangle$ named ``Schrödinger real and imaginary cat states''. The oscillatory character of photon distribution function (PDF) emerging due to the quantum interference between the two components is shown, and the phenomenon of the quadrature squeezing is observed for the moderate values of $|α|\sim 1$. Despite the quantity ${\langle\triangle n^2\rangle}/{\langle n\rangle}$ tends to the unit value (like in the Poissonian PDF) at $|α|\gg 1$, the photon statistics is essentially non-Poissonian for all values of $|α|$. The factorial moments and cumulants of the PDF are calculated, and the oscillations of their ratio are demonstrated.
