In the present paper we introduce a commutative hypergroup associated with a hyperfield of a compact commutative hypergroup based on a discrete commutative hypergroup. Moreover we investigate the dual hyperfield and show the dual relation. As an application we study some hypergroups related to a pair of commutative hypergroups.
The purpose of the present paper is to investigate a hypergroup arising from irreducible characters of a compact group G and a closed subgroup of G with finite index. The convolution of this hypergroup is introduced by inducing irreducible representations and by restricting irreducible representations. The method of proof relies on character formulae of induced representations of compact groups and of Frobenius' reciprocity theorem.
The purpose of the present paper is to investigate a hypergroup associated with irreducible characters of a compact hypergroup $H$ and a closed subhypergroup $H_0$ of $H$ with $|H/H_0|< +\infty$. The convolution of this hypergroup is introduced by inducing irreducible characters of $H_0$ to $H$ and by restricting irreducible characters of $H$ to $H_0$. The method of proof relies on the notion of an induced character and an admissible hypergroup pair.
We prove that all hypergroups of order four are commutative and that there exists a non-comutative hypergroup of order five. These facts imply that the minimum order of non-commutative hypergroups is five even though the minimum order of non-commutative groups is six.
