Dark-Portal Leptogenesis in a Non-Holomorphic Modular Scoto-Seesaw Model

This work explores the neutrino phenomenology of the scotoseesaw model under non-holomorphic $A_4$ modular flavor symmetry providing a non-SUSY framework for realization of the modular symmetry. To prevent mixing between the beyond standard model fields associated with the tree and loop-level neutrino mass contributions, we assign even and odd modular weights to these sectors, respectively. The physical allowed ranges of oscillation parameters are used to identify the viable region of modulus parameter $τ$ in its fundamental domain. With the complex modulus $τ$ serving as the unique source of CP violation (all other parameters are real) the framework realizes successful low-scale leptogenesis through CP-violating decays of the lightest right-handed neutrino into Standard Model leptons and the Higgs boson. The requisite CP asymmetry arises from one-loop diagrams involving dark-sector states, obviating the need for degenerate mass spectra and thereby circumventing the usual resonant leptogenesis mechanism. The observation of a long-lived charged particle ($η^{\pm}$) in collider experiments would offer compelling evidence for the inert scalar sector of the model and provide a crucial experimental hint on the dark-sector assisted generation of neutrino masses and leptogenesis.

Muon ($g-2$) and W-boson mass Anomaly in a Model Based on $Z_4$ Symmetry with Vector like Fermion

The latest results of CDF-II collaboration show a discrepancy of $7σ$ with standard model expectations. There is, also, a $4.2σ$ discrepancy in the measurement of muon magnetic moment reported by Fermilab. We study the connection between neutrino masses, dark matter, muon ($g-2$) and W-boson mass anomaly within a single coherent framework based on $Z_{4}$ extension of the scotogenic model with vector like lepton (VLL). Neutrino masses are generated at one loop level. The inert doublet, also, provide a solution to W-boson mass anomaly through correction in oblique parameters $S$, $T$ and $U$. The coupling of VLL triplet $ψ_T$ to inert doublet $η$ provides positive contribution to muon anomalous magnetic moment. In the model, the VLL triplet provides a lepton portal to dark matter ($η_R^0$). The model predicts a lower bound $m_{ee}>0.025$ eV at 3$σ$, which is well within the sensitivity reach of the $0νββ$ decay experiments. The model explains muon anomalous magnetic moment $Δa_μ$ for $1.3<y_ψ<2.8$ and mass of DM candidate in the range $152\text{ GeV}<M_{η_{R}^{0}}<195\text{ GeV}$. The explanation of W-boson mass anomaly, further, constrain the mass of DM candidate, $M_{η_{R}^{0}}$, in the range $154\text{ GeV}<M_{η_{R}^{0}}<174\text{ GeV}$.

Magic neutrino mass model with broken $μ-τ$ symmetry and Leptogenesis

We investigate baryogenesis via leptogenesis in $A_4$ flavor model within the paradigm of type-I and II seesaw mechanism resulting in magic neutrino mass matrix with broken $μ-τ$ symmetry in a minimal scenario with two right-handed neutrinos(2RHN). Additional $Z_3$ cyclic symmetry is employed to constrain the Yukawa structure of model. The type-II seesaw terms play crucial role in generating non-degenerate neutrino masses and non-zero $θ_{13}$ and contribute in baryogenesis. In particular, after the spontaneous symmetry breaking, the Yukawa couplings $y_{Δ_1}$ and $y_{Δ_3}$ are responsible for the breaking of $μ-τ$ symmetry. The effective Majorana neutrino mass $|M_{ee}|$ is found to be well within the sensitivity reach of the $0νββ$ experiments, in particular, for inverted hierarchy. The model has imperative implication for inverted hierarchy, for example, the non-observation of this process at nEXO will rule out IH. The predicted baryon asymmetry is in good agreement with the observed baryon asymmetry for NH whereas IH is disallowed at 2.5$σ$ C.L..

Probing Non-unitary $CP$ Violation effects in Neutrino Oscillation Experiments

In the present work, we have considered minimal unitarity violation(MUV) scheme, to obtain the general expression for $ν_μ\rightarrowν_τ$ oscillation probability, in vacuum. For this channel, we have investigated the sensitivities to non-unitary parameters $|ρ_{μτ}|$ and $ω_{μτ}$ with short baseline(SBL) experiments for normal as well as inverted hierarchical neutrino masses. We also check how the sensitivity to non-unitary parameters get modified for $θ_{23}$ above and below maximality. We find that the $3σ$ sensitivity towards $|ρ_{μτ}|$ is maximum for non-unitary phase $ω_{μτ}=0$, whereas it is minimum for $ω_{μτ}=\pmπ$ in case of normal hierarchy(NH). However, the sensitivity is minimum at $ω_{μτ}=0$ and maximum for $ω_{μτ}=\pmπ$ for inverted hierarchy(IH). We observe that for unitary $CP$ phase $δ=0$ and $δ=π/2$, the sensitivity to measure non-unitarity remains same in both the cases. We, also, explore wide range of $L/E$ to forecast, in principle, the possibilities to observe $CP$-violation due to unitary($δ$) and non-unitary($ω_{μτ}$) phases. We find that the both phases can be disentangled, in principle, from each other, for the $L/E$ range less than 200 km/GeV for $ν_μ\rightarrowν_τ$ channel.

Prospects for Reconstruction of Leptonic Unitarity Quadrangle and Neutrino Oscillation Experiments

After the observation of non-zero $θ_{13}$ the goal has shifted to observe $CP$ violation in the leptonic sector. Neutrino oscillation experiments can, directly, probe the Dirac $CP$ phases. Alternatively, one can measure $CP$ violation in the leptonic sector using Leptonic Unitarity Quadrangle(LUQ). The existence of Standard Model (SM) gauge singlets - sterile neutrinos - will provide additional sources of $CP$ violation. We investigate the connection between neutrino survival probability and rephasing invariants of the $4\times4$ neutrino mixing matrix. In general, LUQ contain eight geometrical parameters out of which five are independent. We obtain $CP$ asymmetry($P_{ν_f\rightarrowν_{f'}}-P_{\barν_f\rightarrow\barν_{f'}}$) in terms of these independent parameters of the LUQ and search for the possibilities of extracting information on these independent geometrical parameters in short baseline(SBL) and long baseline(LBL) experiments, thus, looking for constructing LUQ and possible measurement of $CP$ violation. We find that it is not possible to construct LUQ using data from LBL experiments because $CP$ asymmetry is sensitive to only three of the five independent parameters of LUQ. However, for SBL experiments, $CP$ asymmetry is found to be sensitive to all five independent parameters making it possible to construct LUQ and measure $CP$ violation.

Four Zero Texture Fermion Mass Matrices in SO(10) GUT

We attempt the integration of the phenomenologically successful four zero texture of fermion mass matrices with the renormalizable SO(10) GUT. The resulting scenario is found to be highly predictive. Firstly, we examine the phenomenological implications of a class of the lepton mass matrices with parallel texture structures and obtain interesting constraints on the parameters of the charged lepton and the neutrino mass matrices. We combine these phenomenological constraints with the constraints obtained from SO(10) GUT to reduce the number of the free parameters and to further constrain the allowed ranges of the free parameters. The solar/atmospheric mixing angles obtained in this analysis are in fairly good agreement with the data.

Maximal CP-Violation in Neutrino Mass Matrix in light of the latest Daya Bay result on $θ_{13}$

The Daya Bay Collaboration (An et al) has recently proclaimed discovery of non-zero reactor angle, $θ_{13}$, $\sin^{2}2θ_{13}$=0.092$\pm$0.016(stat)$\pm$0.005(syst), at $5.2σ$ which is in conformity with the earlier observations of Abe et al, Adamson et al and Kerret et al last year. The discovery has immense implication for exploring CP-violation in the leptonic sector. In the present work, we examine CP-violation in Majorana neutrino mass matrix, in the basis where charged lepton mass matrix is diagonal, in which the ratio of elements are equal, also, termed as Strong Scaling Ans$\ddot{a}$tz (SSA). This Ans$\ddot{a}$tz has been known to explain the vanishing of $θ_{13}$ and predict inverted hierarchy (IH) for the neutrino masses. However, to generate a non-zero value of $θ_{13}$ consistent with Daya Bay result one has to deviate from SSA. This deviation will have important implications for CP-violation in the leptonic sector and is one of the issues addressed in the present work. CP is maximally violated because, for central value of $θ_{13}$ obtained from Daya Bay experiment, Dirac-type phase $|δ|\approx \fracπ{2}$, $\frac{3 π}{2}$ which corresponds to $|J_{CP}|\approx0.03$. We have, also, studied imperative implications for Majorana-type phases $α$, $β$ and effective neutrino mass, $M_{ee}$. The Majorana-type phases $α$, $β$ are found to be sharply constrained.

Non-zero $θ_{13}$ and CP-violation in inverse neutrino mass matrix

The generic predictions of inverse Majorana neutrino mass matrix, $M_ν^{-1}$ with texture two zeros, in the basis where charged lepton mass matrix is diagonal, have been obtained for neutrino masses and mixings, especially, $θ_{13}$ and CP-violating phases. Such type of mass models are natural in the context of seesaw models with Dirac neutrino mass matrix, $M_{D}$, diagonal. Out of the fifteen possible texture two zeros patterns of the inverse neutrino mass matrix only seven are found to be compatible with the available data on neutrino masses and mixings including the latest $T\emph{2}K$ observation of non-zero $θ_{13}$. It is, also, found that $θ_{13}=0$ is disallowed in the mass models investigated in the present work. While the neutrino mass matrices of type I and II are found to be necessarily CP violating, type III is found to be CP-violating for a special case where $θ_{23}$ lie above maximality. The atmospheric mixing angle, $θ_{23}$ is found to dictate the possible hierarchies in type I and II neutrino mass models. For type III, additional information regarding $m_{ee}$ will be required to rule out the inverted hierarchy (IH). A maximal $θ_{23}$ is found to be disallowed in all types of texture two zero $M_ν^{-1}$ Ans$\ddot{a}$tz.

Neutrino Mass Matrices with a Texture Zero and a Vanishing Minor

We study the implications of the simultaneous existence of a texture zero and a vanishing minor in the neutrino mass matrix. There are thirty six possible texture structures of this type, twenty one of which reduce to two texture zero cases which have, already, been extensively studied. Of the remaining fifteen textures only six are allowed by the current data. We examine the phenomenological implications of the allowed texture structures for Majorana type CP-violating phases, 1-3 mixing angle and Dirac type CP-violating phase. All these possible textures can be generated through the seesaw mechanism and realized in the framework of discrete abelian flavor symmetry. We present the symmetry realization of these texture structures.

Phenomenological Analysis of Hybrid Textures of Neutrinos

We present a comprehensive phenomenological analysis of the allowed hybrid textures of neutrinos. Out of a total of sixty hybrid textures with one equality between the elements of neutrino mass matrix and one texture zero only twenty three are found to be viable at 99% C.L. whereas the earlier analysis found fifty four to be viable. We examine the phenomenological implications of the allowed hybrid textures including Majorana type CP-violating phases, 1-3 mixing angle and Dirac type CP-violating phase, $δ$. We, also, obtain lower bound on effective Majorana mass for all the allowed hybrid textures.

CP-odd weak basis invariants and texture zeros

We construct the CP-odd weak basis invariants from the neutrino mass matrix in a weak basis in which the charged lepton mass matrix is diagonal and find the necessary and sufficient conditions for CP conservation. We study the interrelationships between different CP-odd weak basis invariants to examine their implications for the Dirac and Majorana type CP violating phases for the phenomenologically allowed Frampton-Glashow-Marfatia texture zero structures of the neutrino mass matrix.

Model Independent Constraints on Non-electronic Flavors in the Solar Boron Neutrino Flux

We perform the most general model independent analysis of the latest 391-Day Salt Phase SNO Data Set incorporating the Super-Kamiokande ES flux measurement and obtain bounds on the antineutrino and sterile neutrino flux in the solar $^{8}$B neutrino flux reaching the detectors on the earth. The muon/ tauon antineutrino flux is found to be disallowed at 1.4$σ$ C.L. The sterile flux is found to be non-zero at about 1.26 standard deviations.
