More Exact Thermodynamic Analysis of Topological Black Holes in $R^2$ Gravity

This study investigates the thermodynamics of topological black hole solutions in $R^{2}$ gravity, incorporating the effects of small statistical fluctuations up to first-order corrections. We precisely calculate entropy, internal energy, Helmholtz free energy, specific heat, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy, accounting for perturbative thermal corrections. Our results reveal that the internal energy of small black holes diverges asymptotically due to these fluctuations. The corrected Gibbs free energy attains asymptotically high values for small horizon radii. In contrast, the equilibrium Gibbs free energy approaches zero. Additionally, we assess the stability of the black hole in the presence of these thermal fluctuations. We find that, in contrast to the equilibrium state, the thermal fluctuation introduces a double phase transition to the stability of the black hole. Our analysis reveals that the influence of fluctuations is notably significant, primarily for small black holes. These findings offer new insights into the thermodynamic properties of topological black holes in the presence of thermal fluctuations.

$4D$ AdS Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black hole with Yang-Mills field and its thermodynamics

We derive an exact black hole solution for the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity with Yang-Mills field in $4D$ AdS spacetime and investigate its thermodynamic properties to calculate exact expressions for the black hole mass, temperature, entropy and heat capacity. The thermodynamic quantities get modification in the presence of Yang-Mills field, however, entropy remains unaffected by the Yang-Mills charge. The solution exhibits $P-v$ criticality and belongs to the universality class of Van der Waals fluid. We study the effect of Gauss-Bonnet coupling and Yang-Mills charge on the critical behaviour and black hole phase transition. We observe that the values of critical exponents increase with the Yang-Mills charge and decrease with the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant.

A modified thermodynamics of rotating and charged BTZ black hole

We present the thermodynamics of a charged and rotating BTZ black holes here. In particular, we derive expressions for various macroscopic thermal quantities such as entropy, Hawking temperature, Helmholtz free energy, internal energy, enthalpy, Gibbs free energy, and specific heat. To study the effects of small statistical thermal fluctuations around the equilibrium on thermodynamics, we calculated the leading-order corrections to the various thermodynamical potentials of charged and rotating BTZ black hole and do comparative analysis for the fixed values of charge and angular momentum.

Black hole solution and thermal properties in $4D$ AdS Gauss-Bonnet massive gravity

We consider an Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet massive gravity model in $4D$ AdS spacetime to obtain a possible black hole solution and discuss the horizon structure of this black hole. The real roots of the vanishing metric function lead to various types of horizons. Furthermore, we derive various thermodynamic quantities, thus insuring the validity of the first-law of thermodynamics and the Smarr relation. The thermodynamic quantities are modified in the presence of the massive gravity parameter and also discuss the stability of the system from the heat capacity. Black hole space times can not only possess standard thermodynamics, but also possess phase structures when the cosmological constant is treated as the thermodynamic pressure. The effects of massive parameter and GB parameter on phase transition are also discussed. We also examine the phase structure through Maxwell's equal area law. The first order phase transition occurs only when pressure is lower than its critical value. At critical pressure, the first order phase transition terminates, and the second order phase transition occurs. No phase transition occurs when pressure is greater than its critical value.

Buchdahl Spacetime with Compact Body Solution of Charged Fluid and Scalar Field Theory

The present work contains a discussion on compact stellar body that is influenced by the effects electromagnetic fields. We have tried to discuss a solution of Einstein-Maxwell field equation with the interpretation of Buchdahl spacetime type function. The interior fluid density and anisotropic pressures have been derived for a charged fluid of compact body which is also continuous with the Reissner-Nordstrom metric exterior solution. We have discussed the singularity free interior anisotropic fluid under electromagnetic influence. The thermodynamics energy conditions and their variation with interior radius have been discussed here. We have also discussed the physical acceptability of this new model. Finally we have included the scalar field theory corresponding to the interior fluid that helped us to discuss teh compact body strange star evolution with time. The generalized entropy evolution of the compact body has also been introduced in the discussion of interior fluid evolution analysis

Effect of nonfactorizable background geometry on thermodynamics of clustering of galaxies

We study the effect of nonfactorizable background geometry on the thermodynamics of the clustering of galaxies. A canonical partition function is derived for the gravitating system of galaxies treated as point particles contained in cells of appropriate dimensions. Various thermodynamic equations of state, like Helmholtz free energy and entropy, among others, are also obtained. We also estimate the effect of the corrected Newton law on the distribution function of galaxies. Remarkably, the effect of the modified Newton law is seen only in the clustering parameter while the standard structure of the equations is preserved. A comparison of the modified clustering parameter with that of the original clustering parameter is made to visualize the effect of the correction on the time scale of clustering. The possibility of system symmetry breaking is also analyzed by investigating the behavior of the specific heat with increasing system temperature.

Quantum Thermodynamics of an M2-M5 Brane System

We will investigate a system of M2-M5 branes as a black M2-M5 bound state. The behavior of this system will be investigated at short distances. At such scales, we will have to incorporate quantum gravitational corrections to the supergravity solutions. We will study the non-equilibrium quantum thermodynamics of this black M2-M5 bound state. The quantum work for this solution will be obtained using the Jarzynski equality. We will also study the corrections to the thermodynamic stability of this system from quantum gravitational corrections. We will use the concept of a novel quantum mass to analyze the quantum gravitational corrections to the information geometry of this system. This will be done using effective quantum metrics for this system.

Rotating Lee-Wick Black Hole and Thermodynamics

We derive a singular solution for the rotating counterpart of Lee-Wick gravity having a point source in a higher-derivative theory. We critically analyze the thermodynamics of such a thermal system by evaluating mass parameters, angular velocity, and Hawking temperature. The system follows the first law of thermodynamics and leads to the expression of entropy. We further discuss the stability and phase transition of the theory by evaluating heat capacity and free energy. The phase transition occurs at the point of divergence and the temperature is maximum. Remarkably, the black hole is unstable for a small horizon radius and stable for a large horizon radius.

Thermodynamic properties, thermal image and phase transition of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black hole coupled with nonlinear electrodynamics

We obtain an exact solution of $AdS$ black hole solution in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity coupled with nonlinear electrodynamics. It interpolates with the $AdS$ regular black hole and $AdS$ EGB black hole in the absence of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant and both magnetic monopole charge and deviation parameter, respectively. Based on horizon thermodynamics, we study the thermodynamic properties of the obtained solution (e.g. mass, temperature, entropy, heat capacity and free energy). The Hawking temperature of the nonsingular black hole gets the maximum value at the point where specific heat diverges and the second-order phase transition occurs at the same point. We find that the smaller nonsingular black holes are stable due to positive heat capacity and negative free energy. We explicitly trace the relations between the black hole shadow and the critical behavior of charged EGB $AdS$ regular black hole in the extended phase space.

Sound Speed in Extended Chaplygin Fluid

We consider an extended Chaplygin gas equation of state which is driven from D-brane action and construct a cosmological model based on this equation of state. In this regard, we compute the scale factor of the model under a certain approximation. The conservation equation of this case is a non-linear differential equation which should solve using the special conditions. We also analyze the stability of the model by using sound speed as well as adiabatic index and discuss certain special cases of the model. We find special equation of state in this model which yields to dynamical and thermodynamical stability. Furthermore, we study the cosmological consequences of this model under certain conditions.

Accretion disks around a static black hole in $f(R)$ gravity

We provide a description of a thin accretion disc for a static spherically symmetric black holes in $f(R)$ gravity. In this regard, we first study the horizons of black holes in $f(R)$ gravity. The equation of motion and effective potential are also computed which eventually leads to possible existence of innermost circular orbits of accretion disc. We derive the specific energy, specific angular momentum and angular velocity of the particles moving in circular orbits also. A comparative study of various parameters are also presented. The locations of the event horizon, cosmological horizon, innermost and outermost stable circular orbits are also pointed out.

Phase transition of a charged AdS black hole with a global monopole through geometrical thermodynamics

In order to study the phase transition through thermodynamic geometry, we consider the charged AdS black hole with global monopole. We first introduce thermodynamics of charged AdS black hole with global monopole by discussing the dependence of Hawking temperature, specific heat and P-v curve on horizon radius and monopole parameter. By implementing various thermodynamic geometry methods, for instance, Weinhold, Ruppiner, Quevedo and HPEM formulations, we derive corresponding scalar curvatures for charged AdS black hole with a global monopole. Here, we observe that, in contrast to Weinhold and Ruppeiner methods, HPEM and Quevedo formulations provide more information about the phase transition of the charged AdS black hole with a global monopole.

Thermodynamics of Higher Order Entropy Corrected Schwarzschild-Beltrami-de Sitter Black Hole

In this paper, we consider higher order correction of the entropy and study the thermodynamical properties of recently proposed Schwarzschild-Beltrami-de Sitter black hole, which is indeed an exact solution of Einstein equation with a positive cosmological constant. By using the corrected entropy and Hawking temperature we extract some thermodynamical quantities like Gibbs and Helmholtz free energies and heat capacity. We also investigate the first and second laws of thermodynamics. We find that presence of higher order corrections, which come from thermal fluctuations, may remove some instabilities of the black hole. Also unstable to stable phase transition is possible in presence of the first and second order corrections.

Time dependent dark energy and the thermodynamics of many-body systems

In this paper, we study the thermodynamics and statistics of the galaxies clustering affected by the dynamical dark energy. We consider two important dark energy models based on time dependent equation of state to evaluate the gravitational partition function. In the first model, we consider barotropic dark energy with time dependent equation of state. However, in the second model, we consider various kinds of Chaplygin gas equation of state which originally introduced by string theory. We calculate, analytically and numerically, the thermodynamic quantities in canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We investigate validity of the second law of thermodynamics for the total system of clustering of galaxies and dynamical dark energy. We finally evaluate the galaxy-galaxy correlation function and compare our model with Peebles's power law and find that the model based on generalized Chaplygin gas may yields to more agreement with observations.

A mass-deformed BLG theory in Gribov-Zwanziger framework

In this paper, we extend the Gribov-Zwanziger framework accounting for the existence of Gribov copies to the mass deformed Bagger--Lambert--Gustavsson (BLG) theory in $\mathcal{N} =1 $ superspace. The restriction of the domain of integration in the Euclidean functional integral to the first Gribov horizon is implemented, by adding a non-local horizon term to the effective action. Furthermore, the soft breaking of the BRST symmetry due to horizon term is restored with the help of external sources. We compute the various Ward identities for this theory relying on the Lie 3-algebras.

BRST symmetry for Regge-Teitelboim based minisuperspace models

The Einstein-Hilbert action in the context of Higher derivative theories is considered for finding out their BRST symmetries. Being a constraint system, the model is transformed in the minisuperspace language with the FRLW background and the gauge symmetries are explored. Exploiting the first order formalism developed by Banerjee et. al. the diffeomorphism symmetry is extracted. From the general form of the gauge transformations of the field, the analogous BRST transformations are calculated. The effective Lagrangian is constructed by considering two gauge fixing conditions. Further, the BRST (conserved) charge is computed which plays an important role in defining the physical states from the total Hilbert space of states. The finite field dependent BRST (FFBRST) formulation is also studied in this context where the Jacobian for functional measure is illustrated specifically.

Comments on interactions in the SUSY models

We consider special supersymmetry (SUSY) transformations with $m$ generators $\overleftarrow{s}_{α}$ for a certain class of models and study some physical consequences of Grassmann-odd transformations which form an Abelian supergroup with finite parameters and respective group-like elements being functionals of field variables. The SUSY-invariant path integral measure within conventional quantization implies the appearance, under a change of variables related to such SUSY transformations, of a Jacobian which is explicitly calculated. The Jacobian implies, first of all, the appearance of trivial interactions in the transformed action, and, second, the presence of a modified Ward identity which reduces to the standard Ward identities in the case of constant parameters. We examine the case of ${N}=1$ and $N=2$ supersymmetric harmonic oscillators to illustrate the general concept by a simple free model with $(1,1)$ physical degrees of freedom. It is shown that the interaction terms $U_{tr}$ have a corresponding SUSY-exact form: $U_{tr}=% \big(V_{(1)}\overleftarrow{s};V_{(2)}\overleftarrow{\bar{s}}\overleftarrow{s}% \big)$ naturally generated in this generalized formulation. We argue that the case of non-trivial interactions cannot be obtained in such a way.

Effects of Cosmological Constant on Clustering of Galaxies

In this paper, we analyse the effect of the expansion of the universe on the clustering of galaxies. We evaluate the configurational integral for interacting system of galaxies in an expanding universe by including effects produced by the cosmological constant. The gravitational partition function is obtained using this configuration integral. Thermodynamic quantities, specifically, Helmholtz free energy, entropy, internal energy, pressure and chemical potential are also derived for this system. It is observed that they depend on the modified clustering parameter for this system of galaxies. It is also demonstrated that these thermodynamical quantities get corrected because of the cosmological constant.

Finite Field-dependent Symmetry in Thirring Model

In this paper, we consider a $D$-dimensional massive Thirring model with ($2<D<4$). We derive an extended BRST symmetry of the theory with finite field-dependent parameter. Further we compute the Jacobian of functional measure under such an extended transformation. Remarkably, we find that such Jacobian extends the BRST exact part of the action which leads to a mapping between different gauges. We illustrate this with the help of Lorentz and $R_ξ$ gauges. We also discuss the results in Batalin-Vilkovisky framework.

IR finite graviton propagators in de Sitter spacetime

Graviton propagator diverges in certain gauges in de Sitter spacetime. We address this problem in this work by generalizing the infinitesimal BRST transformations in de Sitter spacetime to finite field-dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformations. These FFBRST transformations are symmetry of the classical action, but do not leave path integral measure invariant for the graviton theory in de Sitter spacetime. Due to the non-trivial Jacobian of such finite transformation the path integral measure changes and hence FFBRST transformation is capable of relating theories in two different gauges. We explicitly construct FFBRST transformation which relates theory with diverging graviton two-point function to theory with infrared (IR) finite graviton. The FFBRST transformation thus establishes that divergence in graviton two-point function may be only a gauge artifact.

Quantum Gauge Freedom in Very Special Relativity

We demonstrate Yokoyama gaugeon formalism for the Abelian one-form gauge (Maxwell) as well as for Abelian two-form gauge theory in the very special relativity (VSR) framework. In VSR scenario, the extended action due to introduction of gaugeon fields also possesses form invariance under quantum gauge transformations. It is observed that the gaugeon field together with gauge field naturally acquire mass, which is different from the conventional Higgs mechanism. The quantum gauge transformation implements a shift in gauge parameter. Further, we analyse the BRST symmetric gaugeon formalism in VSR which embeds only one subsidiary condition rather than two.

Within this formulation, we establish connection between the two different solutions of the quantum master equation within the BV formulation.

Ward and Nielsen Identities for ABJM Theory in ${\cal N}=1$ Superspace

The structures and the associated gauge algebra of ABJM theory in ${\cal N}=1$ superspace are reviewed. We derive the Ward identities of the theory in the class of Lorentz-type gauges at quantum level to justify the renormalizability of the model. We compute the Nielsen identities for the two-point functions of the theory with the help of enlarged BRST transformation. The identities are derived in ABJM theory to ensure the gauge independence of the physical poles of the Green's functions.

A superspace description of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models

We illustrate the cosmological Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) models realized as gauge theory in the extended configuration space with its Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) invariance upto total derivative. To investigate the model in Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formalism the Lagrangian density of the models is further extended by introducing shifted fields corresponding to all fields. The extended Lagrangian density having shifted fields admits more general BRST symmetry (including shift symmetry), called as extended BRST symmetry. In this framework the antighost fields corresponding to the shift symmetry get identified with antifields of BV formulation. Further, we analyse the models on supermanifold with the help of additional super (Grassmannian) coordinate $θ$. Remarkably, we observe that the $θ$ components of superfields produces the gauge-fixing term in tandem with ghost term of the effective Lagrangian density naturally. Furthermore, we show that the quantum master equation of the BV quantization method can be translated to have a superfield structure for the FRW models.

In this paper we will analyse the anti-BRST symmetries of Bagger-Lambert-Gustavsson (BLG) theory in presence of a boundary. We will analyses these symmetries in both linear and non-linear gauges. We will also derive the finite field version of the anti-BRST transformations for the BLG theory in presence of a boundary. These finite field transformations will be used to relate generating functional in linear gauge to the generating functional in the non-linear gauge.

Emergence of Lowenstein-Zimmermann mass terms for QED$_{3}$

In this paper we consider a super-renormalizable theory of massless QED in $(2+1)$ dimensions and discuss their BRST symmetry transformation. By extending the BRST transformation we derive the Nielsen identities for the theory. Further, we compute the generalized BRST (so-called FFBRST) transformation by making the transformation parameter field-dependent. Remarkably, we observe that the Lowenstein-Zimmerman mass terms, containing Lowenstein-Zimmerman parameter which plays an important role in the BPHZL renormalization program, along with the external sources coupled to the non-linear BRST variations appear naturally in the theory through a FFBRST transformation.

Equivalence between two different field-dependent BRST formulations

Finite field-dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformations were constructed by integrating infinitesimal BRST transformation in a closed form. Such a generalized transformations have been extended in various branch of physics and found many applications. Recently BRST transformation has also been generalized with same goal and motivation in slightly different manner. In this work we have shown that the later formulation is conceptually equivalent to the earlier formulation. We justify our claim by producing the same result of later formulation using earlier FFBRST formulation.

Field-dependent symmetries in Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models

We consider effective actions of the cosmological Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) models and discuss their fermionic rigid BRST invariance. Further, we demonstrate the finite field-dependent BRST transformations as a limiting case of continuous field-dependent BRST transformations described in terms of continuous parameter $κ$. The Jacobian under such finite field-dependent BRST transformations is computed explicitly, which amounts an extra piece in the effective action within functional integral. We show that for a particular choice of the parameter the finite field-dependent BRST transformation maps the generating functional for FRW models from one gauge to another.

Generalized BRST symmetry for arbitrary spin conformal field theory

We develop the finite field-dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformation for arbitrary spin-s conformal field theories. We discuss the novel features of the FFBRST transformation in these systems. To illustrate the results we consider the spin-1 and spin-2 conformal field theories in two examples. Within the formalism we found that FFBRST transformation connects the generating functionals of spin-1 and spin-2 conformal field theories in linear and non-linear gauges. Further, the conformal field theories in the framework of FFBRST transformation are also analysed in Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation to establish the results.

Green's Functions in Perturbative Quantum Gravity

We show that the Green's functions in non-linear gauge in the theory of perturbative quantum gravity is expressed as a series in terms of those in linear gauges. This formulation is also holds for operator Green's functions. We further derive the explicit relation between the Green's functions in the theory of perturbative quantum gravity in a pair of arbitary gauges. This process involves some sort of modified FFBRST transformations which is derivable from infinitesimal field-dependent BRST transformations.

Nilpotent Symmetries in Super-Group Field Cosmology

In this paper we study the gauge invariance of the third quantized super-group field cosmology which is a model for multiverse. Further, we propose both the nfinitesimal (usual) as well as the finite superfield-dependent BRST symmetry transformations which leave the effective theory invariant. The effects of finite superfield-dependent BRST transformations on the path integral (so-called void functional in the case of third quantization) are implemented. Within the finite superfield-dependent BRST formulation, the finite superfield-dependent BRST transformations with specific parameter switch the void functional from one gauge to another. We establish this result for the most general gauge with the help of explicit calculations which holds for all possible sets of gauge choices at both the classical and the quantum levels.

Reducible gauge theories in very special relativity

In this paper we analyze the tensor field (reducible gauge) theories in the context of very special relativity (VSR). Particularly, we study the VSR gauge symmetry as well as VSR BRST symmetry of Kalb-Ramond and Abelian 3-form fields involving a fixed null vector. We observe that the Kalb-Ramond and Abelian 3-form fields and corresponding ghosts get masses in VSR framework. The effective action in VSR-type axial gauge is greatly simplified compared with the VSR-type Lorenz gauge. Further, we quantize these models using a Batalin-Vilkovisy (BV) formulation in VSR.

Spontaneous breaking of nilpotent symmetry in boundary BLG theory

We exploit boundary term to preserve the supersymmetric gauge invariance of Bagger--Lambert--Gustavsson (BLG) theory. The fermionic rigid BRST and anti-BRST symmetries are studied in linear and non-linear gauges. Remarkably, for Delbourgo-Jarvis-Baulieu-Thierry-Mieg (DJBTM) type gauge the spontaneous breaking of BRST symmetry occurs in the BLG theory. The responsible guy for such spontaneous breaking is ghost-anti-ghost condensation. Further, we discuss the ghost-anti-ghost condensates in the modified maximally Abelian (MMA) gauge in the BLG theory.

A superspace description of Chern-Simons theory in Batalin-Vilkovisky formulation

We discuss the extended BRST and anti-BRST symmetry (including shift symmetry) in the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation for the Chern-Simons (CS) theories in $(2+1)$ spacetime dimensions. Further we develop the superspace description of BV formulation for such theories. Interestingly, the extended BRST invariant CS theories can be described in superspace in covariant manner with the help of one more (Grassmann) coordinate. However, a superspace with two Grassmann coordinates are required for a manifestly covariant formulation of the extended BRST and extended anti-BRST invariant actions for these theories.

Field-dependent quantum gauge transformation

In this paper we generalize the quantum gauge transformation of Maxwell theory obtained through gaugeon formalism. The generalization is made by making the bosonic transformation parameter field-dependent. The Jacobian of vacuum functional under field-dependent quantum gauge transformation is calculated explicitly. We show that the quantum gauge transformation with a particular choice of field-dependent parameter connects the gaugeon actions of Maxwell theory in two different gauges. We establish the result by connecting two well-known gauges, namely, Lorentz gauge and axial gauge.

Gaugeon Formalism for Perturbative Quantum Gravity

In this paper we investigate the Yokoyama gaugeon formalism for perturbative quantum gravity in a general curved spacetime. Within the gaugeon formalism, we extend the configuration space by introducing vector gaugeon fields describing a quantum gauge degree of freedom. Such an extended theory of perturbative gravity admits quantum gauge transformations leading to a natural shift in the gauge parameter. Further we impose the Gupta-Bleuler type subsidiary condition to remove the unphysical gaugeon modes. To replace the Gupta-Bleuler type condition by more acceptable Kugo-Ojima type subsidiary condition we analyze the BRST symmetric gaugeon formalism. Further, the physical Hilbert space is constructed for the perturbative quantum gravity which remains invariant under both the BRST symmetry and the quantum gauge transformations.

Gaugeon formalism in the framework of generalized BRST symmetry

We consider gaugeon formulations which discuss the quantum gauge freedom covariantly in the framework of generalized BRST transformation for the Yang-Mills theory as well as the BRST invariant Higgs model. We generalize the BRST symmetries of both the Yang-Mills theory and the Higgs model by making the transformation parameter finite and field-dependent. Remarkably, we observe that the gaugeon Lagrangian which describe the quantum gauge freedom appear automatically in the effective theories along with the natural shift in gauge parameters under specific finite field-dependent parameters.

Generalized BRST Symmetry and Gaugeon Formalism for Perturbative Quantum Gravity: Novel Observation

In this paper the novel features of Yokoyama gaugeon formalism are stressed out for the theory of perturbative quantum gravity in Einstein curved spacetime. The quantum gauge transformations for the theory of perturbative gravity are demonstrated in the framework of gaugeon formalism. These quantum gauge transformations lead to renormalized gauge parameter. Further, we analyse the BRST symmetric gaugeon formalism which embeds more acceptable Kugo-Ojima subsidiary condition. Further, the BRST symmetry is made finite and field-dependent. Remarkably, the Jacobian of path integral under finite and field-dependent BRST symmetry amounts to the exact gaugeon action in the effective theory of perturbative quantum gravity.

Generalized supersymmetry and sigma models

In this paper, we discuss the generalizations of exact supersymmetries present in the supersymmetrized sigma models. These generalizations are made by making the supersymmetric transformation parameter field-dependent. N=1 super-Chern-Simons theory in Batalin-Vilkovisky formulation

We analyse the Abelian $N=1$ super-Chern-Simons model coupled to parity-preserving matter in linear and non-linear gauges with exact BRST invariance. Then we analyse the theory in field/antifield formulation to discuss the model at quantum level. Furthermore, we implement the field/antifield dependent transformation parameter to generalize the BRST symmetry of the theory. The novelty of field/antifield dependent BRST transformation is that under change of variable the Jacobian of the functional integral extends the quantum action from linear gauge to non-linear gauge. Spontaneous Breaking of the BRST Symmetry in the ABJM theory

In this paper, we will analyse the ghost condensation in the ABJM theory. We will perform our analysis in ${\cal N}=1$ superspace. We show that in the Delbourgo-Jarvis-Baulieu-Thierry-Mieg gauge the spontaneous breaking of BRST symmetry can occur in the ABJM theory. This spontaneous breaking of BRST symmetry is caused by ghost-anti-ghost condensation. We will also show that in the ABJM theory, the ghost-anti-ghost the condensates remains present in the modified abelian gauge. Thus, the spontaneous breaking of BRST symmetry in ABJM theory can even occur in the modified abelian gauge.

In this Letter we consider SU(2) Yang-Mills theory analysed in Cho-Faddeev-Niemi variables which remains invariant under local gauge transformations. The BRST symmetries of this theory is generalized by making the infinitesimal parameter finite and field-dependent. BRST symmetry and $W$-algebra in higher derivative models

In this paper we discuss the (anti-)BRST symmetries and $W$-algebra of higher derivative theories of relativistic particles satisfying general gauge conditions. Using this formalism, the connection between the (anti-)BRST symmetries and $W$-algebra for the rigid relativistic particle is established. Incidentally, the full $W$-algebra emerges only when the anti-BRST transformations are considered in tandem with the BRST ones. Further, the BRST symmetry is made finite and coordinate-dependent. We show that such finite coordinate-dependent BRST symmetry changes the BRST invariant gauge-fixing fermion within the functional integration. This is exploited to connect two different arbitrary gauge conditions.

BRST symmetry and Darboux transformations in Abelian 2-form gauge theory

We analyse the constraints of an Abelian 2-form gauge theory using Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism. Further, this theory is treated as a constrained system in the context of Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky formalism to retrieve the BRST symmetry. Using the fields decompositions the effective action for Abelian 2-form gauge theory is written in terms of diagonalized uncanonical part and BRST exact one. Finite field dependent BRST transformations and its applications to gauge field theories

The Becchi-Rouet-Stora and Tyutin (BRST) transformation plays a crucial role in the quantization of gauge theories. The BRST transformation is also very important tool in characterizing the various renormalizable field theoretic models. The generalization of the usual BRST transformation, by making the infinitesimal global parameter finite and field dependent, is commonly known as the finite field dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformation. In this thesis, we have extended the FFBRST transformation in an auxiliary field formulation and have developed both on-shell and off-shell FF-anti-BRST transformations. The different aspects of such transformation are studied in Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation. FFBRST transformation has further been used to study the celebrated Gribov problem and to analyze the constrained dynamics in gauge theories. A new finite field dependent symmetry (combination of FFBRST and FF-anti-BRST) transformation has been invented. The FFBRST transformation is shown useful in connection of first-class constrained theory to that of second-class also. Further, we have applied the Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky (BFV) technique to quantize a field theoretic model in the Hamiltonian framework. The Hodge de Rham theorem for differential geometry has also been studied in such context.

Finite field-dependent symmetries in perturbative quantum gravity

In this paper we discuss the absolutely anticommuting nilpotent symmetries for perturbative quantum gravity in general curved spacetime in linear and non-linear gauges. Further, we analyze the finite field-dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformation for perturbative quantum gravity in general curved spacetime. The FFBRST transformation changes the gauge-fixing and ghost parts of the perturbative quantum gravity within functional integration. However, the operation of such symmetry transformation on the generating functional of perturbative quantum gravity does not affect the theory on physical ground. The FFBRST transformation with appropriate choices of finite BRST parameter connects non-linear Curci--Ferrari and Landau gauges of perturbative quantum gravity. The validity of the results is also established at quantum level using Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation.

Noncommutative Gauge Theories: Model for Hodge theory

The nilpotent BRST, anti-BRST, dual-BRST and anti-dual-BRST symmetry transformations are constructed in the context of noncommutative (NC) 1-form as well as 2-form gauge theories. The corresponding Noether's charges for these symmetries on the Moyal plane are shown to satisfy the same algebra as by the de Rham cohomological operators of differential geometry. The Hodge decomposition theorem on compact manifold is also studied. We show that noncommutative gauge theories are field theoretic models for Hodge theory.

Perturbative quantum gravity in Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism

In this Letter we consider the perturbative quantum gravity on the super-manifold which remains invariant under absolutely anticommuting BRST and anti-BRST transformations. In addition to that the theory posses one more symmetry known as shift symmetry. The BRST invariant Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) action for perturbative quantum gravity is realized as a translation in Grassmann coordinate. Further we show that the quantum master equation of the BV quantization method at one-loop order can be translated to have a superfield structure for the action. However, the BRST as well as anti-BRST invariant BV action is constructed in superspace with the help of two Grassmann coordinates.

The noncovariant gauges in 3-form theories

We study the 3-form gauge theory in the context of generalized BRST formulation. We construct the finite field-dependent BRST (FFBRST) symmetry for such a theory. The generating functional for 3-form gauge theory in noncovariant gauge is obtained from that of in covariant gauge. We further extend the results by considering 3-form gauge theory in the context of Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation.

BV formulation of higher form gauge theories in a superspace

We discuss the extended BRST and anti-BRST symmetry (including shift symmetry) in the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formulation for two and three form gauge theories. Further we develop the superspace formulation for the BV actions for these theories. We show that the extended BRST invariant BV action for these theories can be written manifestly covariant manner in a superspace with one Grassmann coordinate. On the hand a superspace with two Grassmann coordinates are required for a manifestly covariant formulation of the extended BRST and extended anti-BRST invariant BV actions for higher form gauge theories.

Field dependent nilpotent symmetry for gauge theories

We construct the field dependent mixed BRST (combination of BRST and anti-BRST) transformations for pure gauge theories. These are shown to be an exact nilpotent symmetry of both the effective action as well as the generating functional for certain choices of the field dependent parameters. We show that the Jacobian contributions for path integral measure in the definition of generating functional arising from BRST and anti-BRST part compensate each other. The field dependent mixed BRST transformations are also considered in field/antifield formulation to show that the solutions of quantum master equation remain invariant under these. Our results are supported by several explicit examples.

Finite BRST transformation and constrained systems

We establish the connection between the generating functional for the first-class theories and the generating functional for the second-class theories using the finite field dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformation. We show this connection with the help of explicit calculations in two different models. The generating functional of Proca model is obtained from the generating functional of Stueckelberg theory for massive spin 1 vector field using FFBRST transformation. In the other example we relate the generating functionals for gauge invariant and gauge variant theory for self-dual chiral boson.

Relating Gribov-Zwanziger theory and Yang-Mills theory in Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism

We consider the BRST invariant Gribov-Zwanziger theory with appropriate horizon term in Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. The usual infinitesimal BRST transformation is generalized by considering the parameter finite and field dependent. We show that such finite field dependent BRST transformation with suitable choice of finite parameter relates the generating functional of Gribov-Zwanziger theory to that of the Yang-Mills theory.

Relating Gribov-Zwanziger theory to effective Yang-Mills theory

We consider the Gribov-Zwanziger (GZ) theory with appropriate horizon term which exhibits the nilpotent BRST invariance. This infinitesimal BRST transformation has been generalized by allowing the parameter to be finite and field dependent (FFBRST). By constructing appropriate finite field dependent parameter we show that the generating functional of GZ theory with horizon term is related to that of Yang-Mills (YM) theory through FFBRST transformation.

The model for self-dual chiral bosons as a Hodge theory

We consider (1+1) dimensional theory for a single self-dual chiral boson as classical model for gauge theory. Using Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky (BFV) technique the nilpotent BRST and anti BRST symmetry transformations for this theory have been studied. In this model other forms of nilpotent symmetry transformations like co-BRST and anti co-BRST which leave the gauge-fixing part of the action invariant, are also explored. We show that the nilpotent charges for these symmetry transformations satisfy the algebra of de Rham cohomological operators in differential geometry. The Hodge decomposition theorem on compact manifold is also studied in the context of conserved charges.

Finite nilpotent symmetry in Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism

We consider the Batalin-Vilkovisky formulation of both 1-form and 2-form gauge theories, in the context of generalized BRST transformations with finite field dependent parameter. In the usual Faddeev-Popov formulation of gauge theories such finite field dependent BRST (FFBRST) transformations do not leave the generating functionals invariant as the path integral measure changes in a non-trivial way for a finite transformations. Here we show that FFBRST transformation, with appropriate choice of finite field-dependent parameter, is symmetry of the generating functionals in the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. The finite parameter is chosen in such a way that the contribution from the Jacobian of the path integral measure is adjusted with gauge fixed fermions which do not change the generating functionals. Several examples for such a finite parameters are constructed.

Generalized BRST transformation in Abelian rank-2 antisymmetric tensor field theory

We generalize the BRST transformations in Abelian rank-2 tensor field theory by allowing the parameter to be finite and field dependent and show that such transformations play crucial role in studying the Abelian 2-form gauge theory in noncovariant gauges. The generating functionals in different effective theories are connected through these generalized BRST transformations with different choice of finite parameter. We further consider the generalization of the anti-BRST transformations and show that even anti-BRST transformations with the finite field dependent parameter relate the generating functional for different effective theories. Such generalized BRST/anti-BRST transformations are useful in connecting generating functionals corresponding to different effective theories. Field/antifield formulation of this Abelian 2-form gauge theory is also studied in the context of generalized BRST transormations. We show that generalized BRST transformation connects the generating functional corresponding to the different solutions of quantum master equation in field/antifield formulation.

Off-shell nilpotent finite BRST/anti-BRST transformations

We develop the off-shell nilpotent finite field dependent BRST transformations and show that for different choices of the finite field dependent parameter these connect the generating functionals corresponding to different effective theories. We also construct both on-shell and off-shell finite field dependent anti-BRST tranformations for Yang Mills theories and show that these transformations play the similar role in connecting different generating functionals of different effective theories. Analogous to the finite field dependent BRST transformations, the non-trivial Jacobians of the path integral measure which arise due to the finite field dependent anti-BRST transformations are responsible for the new results. We consider several explicit examples in each case to demonstrate the results.
