Collapse Geometry in Inhomogeneous FRW model

Collapsing process is studied in special type of inhomogeneous spherically symmetric space-time model (known as IFRW model), having no time-like Killing vector field. The matter field for collapse dynamics is considered to be perfect fluid with anisotropic pressure. The main issue of the present investigation is to examine whether the end state of the collapse to be a naked singularity or a black hole. Finally, null geodesics is studied near the singularity.

Dynamical System Analysis of a Dirac-Born-Infeld Model : A Center Manifold Perspective

In this paper we present the cosmological dynamics of a perfect fluid and the Dark Energy (DE) component of the Universe, where our model of the dark energy is the string-theoritic Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) model. We assume that the potential of the scalar field and the warp factor of the warped throat region of the compact space in the extra dimension for the DBI model are both exponential in nature. In the background of spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker-Lemaitre Universe, the Einstein field equations for the DBI dark energy reduce to a system of autonomous dynamical system. We then perform a dynamical system analysis for this system. Our analysis is motivated by the invariant manifold approach of the mathematical dynamics. In this method, it is possible to reach a definite conclusion even when the critical points of a dynamical system are non-hyperbolic in nature. Since we find the complete set of critical points for this system, the center manifold analysis ensures that our investigation of this model leaves no stone unturned. We find some interesting results such as that for some critical points there are situations where scaling solutions exist. Finally we present various topologically different phase planes and stability diagrams and discuss the corresponding cosmological scenario.

Dynamical System Analysis of a Three Fluid Cosmological Model : An Invariant Manifold approach

The present paper considers a three-fluid cosmological model consisting of noninteracting dark matter, dark energy and baryonic matter in the background of the Friedmann- Robertson- Walker- Lemaitre flat spacetime. It has been assumed that the dark matter takes the form of dust whereas the dark energy is a quintessence (real) scalar field with exponential potential. It has been further assumed that the baryonic matter is a perfect fluid with barotropic equation of states. The field equations for this model takes the form of an autonomous dynamical system after some suitable changes of variables. Then a complete stability analysis is done considering all possible parameter (the adiabatic index of the baryonic matter and the parameter arising from the dark energy potential) values and for both the cases of hyperbolic and non-hyperbolic critical points. For non-hyperbolic critical points, the invariant manifold theory (center manifold approach) is applied. Finally various topologically different phase planes and vector field diagrams are produced and the cosmological interpretation of this model is presented.

Reconciling $H_0$ tension in a six parameter space?

Consistent observations indicate that some of the important cosmological parameters measured through the local observations are in huge tension with their measurements from the global observations (within the minimal $Λ$CDM cosmology). The tensions in those cosmological parameters have been found to be either weakened or reconciled with the introduction of new degrees of freedom that effectively increases the underlying parameter space compared to the minimal $Λ$CDM cosmology. It might be interesting to investigate the above tensions within the context of an emergent dark energy scenario proposed recently by Li and Shafieloo~\cite{Li:2019yem}. We find that the tension on $H_0$ is clearly alleviated within 68\% confidence level with an improvement of the $χ^2$ for CMB, for the above emergent dark energy model having only six free parameters similar to the spatially flat $Λ$CDM model. The tension on $H_0$ is still alleviated for every combined datasets considered in the work, however, such alleviation occurs by worsening the $χ^2$ compared to the $χ^2$ for $Λ$CDM model obtained for the same combined dataset.

Stability analysis of an interacting holographic dark energy model

The present work deals with dynamical system analysis of Holographic Dark Energy cosmological model with different infra-red (IR)-cutoff. By suitable transformation of variables the Einstein field equations are converted to an autonomous system. The critical points are determined and the stability of the equilibrium points are examined by Center Manifold Theory and Liapunov function method. Possible bifurcation scenarios have also been explained.

Study of thermal stability for different dark energy models

In the present work, we have made an attempt to investigate the dark energy possibility from the thermodynamical point of view. For this purpose, we have studied thermodynamic stability of three popular dark energy models in the framework of an expanding, homogeneous, isotropic and spatially flat FRW Universe filled with dark energy and cold dark matter. The models considered in this work are Chevallier-Polarski-Linder (CPL) model, Generalized Chaplygin Gas (GCG) model and Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) model. By considering the cosmic components (dark energy and cold dark matter) as perfect fluid, we have examined the constraints imposed on the total equation of state parameter ($w_{T}$) of the dark fluid by thermodynamics and found that the phantom nature ($w_{T}<-1$) is not thermodynamically stable. Our investigation indicates that the dark fluid models (CPL, GCG and MCG) are thermodynamically stable under some restrictions of the parameters of each model.

A Comparative Study of Different Entropies in Fractal Universe

Here we make an attempt to extend the idea of generalized Hawking temperature and modified Bekenstein entropy at the event horizon in a fractal universe. The modified Hawking temperature and Bekenstein entropy are considered in the governing Friedmann equations, which is modified in the background of a fractal universe. The validity of the Generalized second law of thermodynamics\,(GSLT) and Thermodynamic Equilibrium\,(TE) have been examined and compared graphically in a fractal universe filled with a perfect fluid having the constant equation of state in three different generalized Bekenstein system.

A study of phantom scalar field cosmology using Lie and Noether symmetries

The paper deals with phantom scalar field cosmology in Einstein gravity. At first using Lie symmetry, the coupling function to the kinetic term and the potential function of the scalar field and the equation of state parameter of the matter field are determined and a simple solution is obtained. Subsequently, Noether symmetry is imposed on the Lagrangian of the system. The symmetry vector is obtained and the potential takes a very general form from which potential using Lie Symmetry can be obtained as a particular case. Then we choose a point transformation $(a,ϕ)\rightarrow(u,v)$ such that one of the transformed variables (say u) is a cyclic for the Lagrangian. Using conserved charge (corresponding to the cyclic coordinate) and the constant of motion, solutions are obtained.

A study of Universal thermodynamics is done in Lanczos-Lovelock gravity. The Universe is chosen as FRW model bounded by apparent or event horizon. The unified first law is examined, assuming extended Hawking temperature on the horizon. As a result there is a modification of Bekenstein entropy on the horizons. Further the validity of generalized second law of thermodynamics and thermodynamical equilibrium are also investigated for perfect fluid (with constant equation of state), modified chaplygin gas model and holographic dark energy model.

Does the particle creation mechanism favour the formation of a black hole or a naked singularity?

The paper deals with collapse dynamics of a spherically symmetric massive star in the framework of non-equilibrium themodynamic prescription through particle creation mechanism. The matter content in the star is in the form of perfect uid with barotropic equation of state and the dissipative phenomena due to non-equilibrium thermodynamics is in the form of bulk viscosity. For simplicity, the thermodynamic system is chosen to be adiabatic (i.e., isentropic) so that the effective bulk viscous pressure is linearly related to the particle creation rate. As a result, the evolution of the collapsing star also depends on the particle creation rate. By proper choice of creation rate as a function of the Hubble parameter, it is found that the end state of the collapse may be either a black hole or a naked singularity.

Gravitational collapse of cylindrical anisotropic fluid: A source of gravitational waves

The present work deals with dynamics of gravitational collapse with cylindrical symmetry as developed by Misner and Sharp. The interior collapsing anisotropic cylindrical perfect fluid is matched to an exterior vacuum cylindrically symmetric space-time due to Einstein--Rosen using the Darmois matching conditions. It is found that the radial pressure of the anisotropic perfect fluid is non-zero on the boundary surface and is related to the components of shear viscosity. As a result, there is formation of gravitational waves outside the collapsing matter.

Gravitational collapse of dissipative fluid as a source of gravitational waves

Gravitational collapse of cylindrical anisotropic fluid has been considered in analogy with the work of Misner and Sharp. Using Darmois matching conditions, the interior cylindrical dissipative fluid (in the form of shear viscosity and heat flux )is matched to an exterior vacuum Einstein--Rosen space-time. It is found that on the bounding 3-surface the radial pressure of the anisotropic perfect fluid is linearly related to the shear viscosity and the heat flux of the dissipative fluid on the boundary. This non-zero radial pressure on the bounding surface may be considered as the source of gravitational waves outside the collapsing matter distribution.

Modified Hawking temperature and entropic force: a prescription in FRW model

The idea of Verlinde that gravity is an entropic force caused by information changes associated with the positions of material bodies, is used in the present work for the FRW model of the Universe. Using modified Hawking temperature, the Friedmann equations are derived on any horizon. For the validity of the first law of thermodynamics (i.e., Clausius relation) it is found that there is modification of Bekenstein entropy on the horizon. However, using equipartition law of energy, Bekenstein entropy is recovered.

Quintom cosmological model and some possible solutions using Lie and Noether symmetries

The present work deals with a quintom model of dark energy in the framework of a spatially flat isotropic and homogeneous Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) universe. At first, Lie point symmetry is imposed to the system and the unknown coupled potential of the model is determined. Then Noether symmetry, which is also a point like symmetry of the Lagrangian, is imposed on the physical system and the potential takes a general form. It is shown that the Lie algebra of Noether symmetry is a sub-algebra of the corresponding Lie algebra of the Lie symmetry. Finally, a point transformation in the three dimensional augmented space is performed suitably so that one of the variables become cyclic and as a result there is considerable simplification to the physical system. Hence conserved quantities (i.e, constants of motion) are expressed in a compact form and cosmological solutions are evaluated and analyzed in the present context.

Universal thermodynamics in different gravity theories: Conditions for generalized second law of thermodynamics and thermodynamical equilibrium on the horizons

The present work deals with a detailed study of universal thermodynamics in different modified gravity theories. The validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) and thermodynamical equilibrium (TE) of the Universe bounded by a horizon (apparent/event) in f(R)-gravity, Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, RS-II brane scenario and DGP brane model has been investigated. In the perspective of recent observational evidences, the matter in the Universe is chosen as interacting holographic dark energy model. The entropy on the horizons are evaluated from the validity of the unified first law and as a result there is a correction (in integral form) to the usual Bekenstein entropy. The other thermodynamical parameter namely temperature on the horizon is chosen as the recently introduced corrected Hawking temperature. The above thermodynamical analysis is done for homogeneous and isotropic flat FLRW model of the Universe. The restrictions for the validity of GSLT and the TE are presented in tabular form for each gravity theory. Finally, due to complicated expressions, the validity of GSLT and TE are also examined from graphical representation, using three Planck data sets.

A complete cosmic scenario from inflation to late time acceleration: Non-equilibrium thermodynamics in the context of particle creation

The paper deals with the mechanism of particle creation in the framework of irreversible thermodynamics. The second order non-equilibrium thermodynamical prescription of Israel and Stewart has been presented with particle creation rate, treated as the dissipative effect. In the background of a flat FRW model, we assume the non-equilibrium thermodynamical process to be isentropic so that the entropy per particle does not change and consequently the dissipative pressure can be expressed linearly in terms of the particle creation rate. Here the dissipative pressure behaves as a dynamical variable having a non-linear inhomogeneous evolution equation and the entropy flow vector satisfies the second law of thermodynamics. Further, using the Friedmann equations and by proper choice of the particle creation rate as a function of the Hubble parameter, it is possible to show (separately) a transition from the inflationary phase to the radiation era and also from matter dominated era to late time acceleration. Also, in analogy to analytic continuation, it is possible to show a continuous cosmic evolution from inflation to late time acceleration by adjusting the parameters. It is found that in the de Sitter phase, the comoving entropy increases exponentially with time, keeping entropy per particle unchanged. Subsequently, the above cosmological scenarios has been described from field theoretic point of view by introducing a scalar field having self interacting potential. Finally, we make an attempt to show the cosmological phenomenon of particle creation as Hawking radiation, particularly during the inflationary era.

A Cosmological Study in Massive Gravity theory

A detailed study of the various cosmological aspects in massive gravity theory has been presented in the present work. For the homogeneous and isotropic FLRW model, the deceleration parameter has been evaluated, and, it has been examined whether there is any transition from deceleration to acceleration in recent past, or not. With the proper choice of the free parameters, it has been shown that the massive gravity theory is equivalent to Einstein gravity with a modified Newtonian gravitational constant together with a negative cosmological constant. Also, in this context, it has been examined whether the emergent scenario is possible, or not, in massive gravity theory. Finally, we have done a cosmographic analysis in massive gravity theory.

A Dynamical System Analysis of Holographic Dark Energy Models with Different IR Cutoff

The paper deals with a dynamical system analysis of the cosmological evolution of an holographic dark energy (HDE) model interacting with dark matter (DM) which is chosen in the form of dust. The infrared cut-off of the holographic model is chosen as future event horizon or Ricci length scale. The interaction term between dark energy and dark matter is chosen of following three types i) proportional to the sum of the energy densities of the two dark components ii) proportional to the product of the matter energy densities and iii) proportional to dark energy density. The dynamical equations are reduced to an autonomous system for the three cases and corresponding phase space is analyzed.

A redefinition of Hawking temperature on the event horizon: Thermodynamical equilibrium

In this article we have used the recently introduced redefined Hawking temperature on the event horizon and investigated whether the generalised second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) and thermodynamic equilibrium holds for both the event and the apparent horizons. Here we have considered FRW universe and examined the GSLT and thermodynamic equilibrium with three examples. Finally, we have concluded that from the thermodynamic viewpoint, the universe bounded by the event horizon is more realistic than that by the apparent horizon at least for some examples.

A study of different horizons in inhomogeneous LTB cosmological model

This work deals with a detailed study of the dynamics of the apparent, event and particle horizons in the background of the inhomogeneous LTB spacetime. The comparative study among these horizons shows a distinct character for apparent horizon compared to the other horizons. The apparent horizon will be a trapping horizon if its acceleration is positive. The Kodama vector is also defined and its causal character is found to be similar to that in the FRW model.

A unified cosmic evolution: Inflation to late time acceleration

The present work deals with a cosmological model having particle creation mechanism in the framework of irreversible thermodynamics. In the second order non-equilibrium thermodynamical prescription, the particle creation rate is treated as the dissipative effect. The non-equilibrium thermodynamical process is assumed to be isentropic, and, as a consequence, the entropy per particle is constant, and, hence, the dissipative pressure can be expressed linearly in terms of the particle creation rate in the background of the homogeneous and isotropic flat FLRW model. By proper choice of the particle creation rate as a function of the Hubble parameter, the model shows the evolution of the universe starting from the inflationary scenario to the present accelerating phase, considering the cosmic matter as normal perfect fluid with barotropic equation of state.

An analytic model for interacting dark energy and its observational constraints

The paper deals with a theoretical model for interacting dark energy. The interaction between the cold dark matter (dust) and the dark energy has been assumed to be non-gravitational in nature. Exact analytic cosmological solutions are obtained both for constant and variable equation of state for dark energy. It is found that, for very small value of the coupling parameter (in the interaction term), the model asymptotically extends up to $Λ$CDM, while the model can enter into the phantom domain asymptotically, if the coupling parameter is not so small. Both the solutions are then analyzed with 194 Supernovae Type Ia data. The best fit parameters are shown with 1$σ$ and 2$σ$ confidence intervals. Finally, we have discussed the cosmographic parameters for both the cases.

Dynamic wormholes with particle creation mechanism

The present work deals with a spherically symmetric space-time which is asymptotically (at spatial infinity) FRW space-time and represents wormhole configuration: The matter component is divided into two parts--(a) dissipative but homogeneous and isotropic fluid, and (b) an inhomogeneous and anisotropic barotropic fluid. Evolving wormhole solutions are obtained when isotropic fluid is phantom in nature and there is a big rip singularity at the end. Here the dissipative phenomena is due to the particle creation mechanism in non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Using the process to be adiabatic, the dissipative pressure is expressed linearly to the particle creation rate. For two choices of the particle creation rate as a function of the Hubble parameter, the equation of state parameter of the isotropic fluid is constrained to be in the phantom domain, except in one choice, it is possible to have wormhole configuration with normal isotropic fluid.

Dynamical system analysis for DBI dark energy interacting with dark matter

A dynamical system analysis related to Dirac Born Infeld (DBI) cosmological model has been investigated in this present work. For spatially flat FRW space time, the Einstein field equation for DBI scenario has been used to study the dynamics of DBI dark energy interacting with dark matter. The DBI dark energy model is considered as a scalar field with a nonstandard kinetic energy term. An interaction between the DBI dark energy and dark matter is considered through a phenomenological interaction between DBI scalar field and the dark matter fluid. The field equations are reduced to an autonomous dynamical system by a suitable redefinition of the basic variables. The potential of the DBI scalar field is assumed to be exponential. Finally, critical points are determined, their nature have been analyzed and corresponding cosmological scenario has been discussed.

Particle creation and non-equilibrium thermodynamical prescription of dark fluids for universe bounded by an event horizon

In the present work, flat FRW model of the universe is considered to be an isolated open thermodynamical system where non-equilibrium prescription has been studied using the mechanism of particle creation. In the perspective of recent observational evidences, the matter distribution in the universe is assumed to be dominated by dark matter and dark energy. The dark matter is chosen as dust while for dark energy, the following choices are considered: (i) Perfect fluid with constant equation of state and (ii) Holographic dark energy. In both the cases, the validity of generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) which states that the total entropy of the fluid as well as that of the horizon should not decrease with the evolution of the universe, has been examined graphically for universe bounded by the event horizon. It is found that GSLT holds in both the cases with some restrictions on the interacting coupling parameter.

The Universe is considered to be a spatially flat FRW model and cosmic fluid is chosen as a perfect fluid with a barotropic equation of state -- $p = (γ-1)ρ$. By proper choice of the particle creation rate, expressions for the entropy and temperature have been determined at various stages of evolution of the Universe. Finally, using the deceleration parameter $q$ as a function of the redshift parameter $z$ based on recent observations, the particle creation rate has been evaluated and its variation at different epochs have been shown graphically.

Quantum corrected non-thermal radiation spectrum from the tunnelling mechanism

Tunnelling mechanism is today considered a popular and widely used method in describing Hawking radiation. However, in relation to black hole (BH) emission, this mechanism is mostly used to obtain the Hawking temperature by comparing the probability of emission of an outgoing particle with the Boltzmann factor. On the other hand, Banerjee and Majhi reformulated the tunnelling framework deriving a black body spectrum through the density matrix for the outgoing modes for both the Bose-Einstein distribution and the Fermi-Dirac distribution. In contrast, Parikh and Wilczek introduced a correction term performing an exact calculation of the action for a tunnelling spherically symmetric particle and, as a result, the probability of emission of an outgoing particle corresponds to a non-strictly thermal radiation spectrum. Recently, one of us (C. Corda) introduced a BH effective state and was able to obtain a non-strictly black body spectrum from the tunnelling mechanism corresponding to the probability of emission of an outgoing particle found by Parikh and Wilczek. The present work introduces the quantum corrected effective temperature and the corresponding quantum corrected effective metric is written using Hawking's periodicity arguments. Thus, we obtain further corrections to the non-strictly thermal BH radiation spectrum as the final distributions take into account both the BH dynamical geometry during the emission of the particle and the quantum corrections to the semiclassical Hawking temperature.

Will there be future deceleration? A study of particle creation mechanism in non-equilibrium thermodynamics

The paper deals with non-equilibrium thermodynamics based on adiabatic particle creation mechanism with the motivation of considering it as an alternative choice to explain the recent observed accelerating phase of the universe. Using Friedmann equations, it is shown that the deceleration parameter ($q$) can be obtained from the knowledge of the particle production rate ($Γ$). Motivated from thermodynamical point of view, cosmological solutions are evaluated for the particle creation rates in three cosmic phases, namely, inflation, matter dominated and present late time acceleration. The deceleration parameter ($q$) is expressed as a function of the redshift parameter ($z$), and its variation is presented graphically. Also, statefinder analysis has been presented graphically in three different phases of the universe. Finally, two non-interacting fluids with different particle creation rates are considered as cosmic substratum, and deceleration parameter ($q$) is evaluated. It is examined whether more than one transition of $q$ is possible or not by graphical representations.

A third alternative to explain recent observations: Future deceleration

In the present work we discuss a third alternative to explain the latest observational data concerning the accelerating Universe and its different stages. The particle creation mechanism in the framework of non-equilibrium thermodynamics is considered as a basic cosmic mechanism acting on the flat FRW geometry. By assuming that the gravitationally induced particle production occurs under "adiabatic" conditions, the deceleration parameter is expressed in terms of the particle creation rate which is chosen as a truncated power series of the Hubble parameter. The model shows the evolution of the Universe starting from inflation to the present late time acceleration and it also predicts future decelerating stage.

Do recent observations favor a cosmological event horizon: A thermodynamical prescription?

Recent observational evidences claim an accelerating expansion of the universe at present epoch. It is commonly incorporated in standard cosmology by the introduction of an exotic matter (that violates the strong energy condition) known as dark energy (DE). As event horizon exists for accelerating universe so there has been a lot of work on universal thermodynamics (i.e., thermodynamics of the universe bounded by apparent or event horizon). Recently, thermodynamical equilibrium has been examined for both the horizons. In the present work we show that universal thermodynamics with event horizon is favored by DE from the point of view of equilibrium thermodynamical prescription.

The present work is a generalization of the recent work [arXiv: 1206.1420] on the modified Hawking temperature on the event horizon. Here the Hawking temperature is generalized by multiplying the modified Hawking temperature by a variable parameter αrepresenting the ratio of the growth rate of the apparent horizon to the event horizon. Irreversible Thermodynamics of the Universe: Constraints from Planck Data

The present work deals with irreversible Universal thermodynamics. The homogenous and isotropic flat model of the universe is chosen as open thermodynamical system and non-equilibrium thermodynamics comes into picture due to the mechanism of particle creation. For simplicity, entropy flow is considered only due to heat conduction. Further, due to Maxwell-Cattaneo modified Fourier law for non-equilibrium phenomenon, the temperature satisfies damped wave equation instead of heat conduction equation. Validity of generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) has been investigated for Universe bounded by apparent or event horizon with cosmic substrutum as perfect fluid with constant or variable equation of state or interacting dark species. Finally, we have used three Planck data sets to constrain the thermal conductivity λand the coupling parameter b^2. These constraints must be satisfied in order for GSLT to hold for Universe bounded by apparent or event horizons.

Finally, vanishing of the deceleration parameter has been examined with some examples.

Also the usual Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi model and the transformed r-gauge Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi model are shown to be equivalent. Finally, the results of Tunneling approach agree with the Hamiltonian-Jacobi method.

Particle motion in the field of a five-dimensional charged black hole

In this paper, we have investigated the geodesics of neutral particles near a five-dimensional charged black hole using a comparative approach. The effective potential method is used to determine the location of the horizons and to study radial and circular trajectories. This also helps us to analyze the stability of radial and circular orbits. The radius of the innermost stable circular orbits have also been determined. Contrary to the case of massive particles for which, the circular orbits may have up to eight possible values of specific radius, we find that the photons will only have two distinct values for the specific radii of circular trajectories. Finally we have used the dynamical systems analysis to determine the critical points and the nature of the trajectories for the timelike and null geodesics.

Quantum tunnelling for Hawking radiation from a dynamical Black Hole

The paper deals with Hawking radiation related to non-static spherically symmetric black hole. Quantum corrections are incorporated using Hamilton-Jacobi method beyond semi-classical approximation. It is found that different order correction terms satisfy identical differential equation as the semiclassical action and are solved by a typical technique. It has been shown that with proper choice of the proportionality factors, one loop back reaction effect in the space time can be obtained. Finally, using the law of black hole mechanics, a general modified form of the black hole entropy is obtained considering modified Hawking temperature.

Quantum Tunnelling of non-zero mass particle and evolution of the horizon for a static black hole

In this work, we study Hawking radiation from a general static black hole due to tunnelling of particle having nonzero mass. Hawking temperature has been calculated using both the tunnelling method and the Hamilton-Jacobi method and the results do no depend on the mass of the particle. Due to complicated form of the equations involved quantum corrections are evaluated only upto first order and it is possible to interprete the correction term as loop corrections of the back reaction effects in the space time. Finally, modified expressions for entropy and surface gravity has been evaluated and it is found that the leading order correction term to the entropy is not necessarily logarithmic in nature.

Accretion of Chaplygin gas upon black holes: Formation of faster outflowing winds

We study the accretion of modified Chaplygin gas upon different types of black hole. Modified Chaplygin gas is one of the best candidates for a combined model of dark matter and dark energy. In addition, from a field theoretical point of view the modified Chaplygin gas model is equivalent to that of a scalar field having a self-interacting potential. We formulate the equations related to both spherical accretion and disc accretion, and respective winds. The corresponding numerical solutions of the flow, particularly of velocity, are presented and are analyzed. We show that the accretion-wind system of modified Chaplygin gas dramatically alters the wind solutions, producing faster winds, upon changes in physical parameters, while accretion solutions qualitatively remain unaffected. This implies that modified Chaplygin gas is more prone to produce outflow which is the natural consequence of the dark energy into the system.

Accretion of Holographic Dark Energy : Dependency only upon Horizon Radius of Expanding Universe

In this paper we deal with accretion of dark energy in the holographic dark energy model for a general non-rotating static spherically symmetric black hole. The mass of the black hole increases or decreases depending on the nature of the holographic dark energy (quintessence or phantom) as well as on some integration parameters. It is to be illustrated that the enhancement or reduction of mass of a black hole is independent of the mass or size of the black hole itself. Rather it depends only upon the radius of the event horizon of the universe. Finally, the generalized second law of thermodynamics has been studied on the event horizon to be assured that the law holds even if when the black hole mass is decreasing though it is engrossing some mass.

Black Hole Thermodynamics in Horava Lifshitz Gravity and the Related Geometry

Recently, Ho$\breve{r}$ava proposed a non-relativistic renormalizable theory of gravity which is essentially a field theoretic model for a UV complete theory of gravity and reduces to Einstein gravity with a non-vanishing cosmological constant in IR. Also the theory admits a Lifshitz scale-invariance in time and space with broken Lorentz symmetry at short scale. On the other hand, at large distances higher derivative terms do not contribute and the theory coincides with general relativity. Subsequently, Cai and his collaborators and then Catiuo et al have obtained black hole solutions in this gravity theory and studied the thermodynamic properties of the black hole solution. In the present paper, we have investigated the black hole thermodynamic for two choices of the entropy function - a classical and a topological in nature. Finally, it is examined whether a phase transition is possible or not.

Emergent scenario and different anisotropic models

In this work, Emergent Universe scenario has been developed in general homogeneous anisotropic model and for the inhomogeneus LTB model. In the first case, it is assumed that the matter in the universe has two components - one is perfect fluid with barotropic equation of state $p=ωρ$ ($ω$, a constant) and the other component is a real or phantom (or tachyonic) scalar field. In the second case, the universe is only filled with a perfect fluid and possibilities for the existence of emergent scenario has been examined.

Emergent Universe with Exotic Matter in Brane World Scenario

In this work, we have examined the emergent scenario in brane world model for phantom and tachyonic matter. For tachyonic matter field we have obtained emergent scenario is possible for closed, open and at model of the universe with some restriction of potential. For normal scalar field the emergent scenario is possible only for closed model and the result is identical with the work of Ellis et al [2], but for phantom field the emergent scenario is possible for closed, open and at model of the universe with some restriction of potential.

Five-dimensional warped product space-time with time-dependent warp factor and cosmology of the four-dimensional universe

In this paper, we have studied a 5-dimensional warped product space-time with a time-dependent warp factor. This warp factor plays an important role in localizing matter to the 4-dimensional hypersurface constituting the observed universe and leads to a geometric interpretation of dynamical dark energy. The five-dimensional field equations are constructed and its solutions are obtained. The nature of modifications produced by this warp factor in the bulk geometry is discussed. The hypersurface is described by a flat FRW-type metric in the ordinary spatial dimension. It is found that the effective cosmological constant of the four-dimensional universe is a variable quantity monitored by the time-dependent warp factor. The universe is initially decelerated, but subsequently makes a transition to an accelerated phase at later times.

The interaction is chosen either in linear combination or in product form of the matter densities for dark matter and dark energy. The IR cut off for holographic dark energy is chosen as Ricci's length scale or radius of the future event horizon. The analysis is done using the state finder parameter and coincidence problem has been graphically presented. Finally, universal thermodynamics has been studied using state finder parameters.

How does Inflation Depend Upon the Nature of Fluids Filling Up the Universe in Brane World Scenario

By constructing different parameters which are able to give us the information about our universe during inflation,(specially at the start and the end of the inflationary universe) a brief idea of brane world inflation is given in this work. What will be the size of the universe at the end of inflation,i.e.,how many times will it grow than today's size is been speculated and analysed thereafter. Different kinds of fluids are taken to be the matter inside the brane. It is observed that in the case of highly positive pressure grower gas like polytropic, the size of the universe at the end of inflation is comparitively smaller. Whereas for negative pressure creators (like chaplygin gas) this size is much bigger. Except thse two cases, inflation has been studied for barotropic fluid and linear redshift parametrization $ω(z) = ω_{0} + ω_{1} z$ too. For them the size of the universe after inflation is much more high. We also have seen that this size does not depend upon the potential energy at the end of the inflation. On the contrary, there is a high impact of the initial potential energy upon the size of inflation.

Interacting Holographic Dark Energy at the Ricci scale and Dynamical system

In this work, we consider homogeneous and isotropic FRW model of the universe, filled with interacting dark matter and dark energy. The dark matter is chosen as usual in the form of dust while dark energy is holographic in nature with IR cut off at the Ricci's length and it is in the form of a perfect fluid with variable equation of state. We have chosen the interaction term of the following two types: (i) a linear combination of the matter density of the two fluids, (ii) a product of the two matter densities. For both the choices the evolution equations are transformed to an autonomous system and the corresponding critical points are analyzed. Finally, for the first choice of the interaction term the evolution of the ratio of the energy densities has been studied from the point of view of the present coincidence problem.

Brane Cosmology and Motion of Test Particles in Five-Dimensional Warped Product Spacetimes

In the braneworld scenario ordinary standard model matter and on-gravitational fields are confined by some trapping mechanism to the 4-dimensional universe constituting the D3-branes which are embedded in a (4 + n)-dimensional manifold referred to as the bulk (n being the number of extra dimensions). The notion of particle confinement is necessary for theories with non-compact extra dimensions, otherwise, the particles would escape from our 4-dimensional world along unseen directions. In this paper, we have considered a five-dimensional warped product space-time having an exponential warping function which depends both on time as well as on the extra coordinates and a non-compact fifth dimension. Further, we have assumed that the lapse function may either be a constant or a function of both time and of the extra coordinates, and have studied the nature of the geodesics of test particles and analyzed the conditions of stability in this geometrical framework. We have also discussed the possible cosmology of the corresponding (3 + 1)-dimensional hypersurfaces.

Cosmological Evolution Across Phantom Crossing and the Nature of the Horizon

In standard cosmology, with the evolution of the universe, the matter density and thermodynamic pressure gradually decreases. Also in course of evolution, the matter in the universe obeys (or violates) some restrictions or energy conditions. If the matter distribution obeys strong energy condition (SEC), the universe is in a decelerating phase while violation of SEC indicates an accelerated expansion of the universe. In the period of accelerated expansion the matter may be either of quintessence nature or of phantom nature depending on the fulfilment of the weak energy condition (WEC) or violation of it. As recent observational evidences demand that the universe is going through an accelerated expansion so mater should be either quintessence or phantom in nature. In the present work we study the evolution of the universe through the phantom barrier (i.e. the dividing line between the quintessence and phantom era) and examine how apparent and event horizon change across the barrier. Finally, we investigate the possibility of occurrence of any singularity in phantom era.

Five-dimensional bulk with a time-dependent warp factor and its consequences on brane cosmology

In this paper, we have considered a 5-dimensional warped product space-time with a timedependent warp factor. The time-dependent warp factor plays an important role in localizing matter to the 4-dimensional hypersurface constituting the observed universe. We then proceed to determine the nature of modifications produced in the bulk geometry as well as the consequences on the corresponding braneworld. The five-dimensional field equations are constructed. For the bulk metric chosen, the Weyl tensor is found to vanish under a certain condition, thereby satisfying the conditions of a constant curvature bulk. Consequently we have constructed the solutions to the field equations for such a bulk and have studied its physical properties. The braneworld is described by a flat FRW-type metric in the ordinary spatial dimension. It is found that the the effective cosmological constant for the induced matter is a variable quantity monitored by the time-dependent warp factor and is associated with the bending of the braneworlds. The universe is initially decelerated, but subsequently makes a transition to an accelerated phase at later times, when its dynamics is dominated by the dynamical dark energy component. For a particular choice of the warp factor, it has been found that the universe is represented by a model of dark energy with the age of the universe as the measure of length, driving the universe to a state of accelerated expansion at later times.

Scalar-Tensor Theory of Gravity and Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics on the Event Horizon

In blackhole physics, the second law of thermodynamics is generally valid whether the blackhole is a static or a non-static one. Considering the universe as a thermodynamical system the second law of blackhole dynamics extends to the non-negativity of the sum of the entropy of the matter and the horizon, known as generalized second law of thermodynamics(GSLT). Here, we have assumed the universe to be bounded by the event-horizon or filled with perfect fluid and holographic dark energy in two cases. Thus considering entropy to be an arbitrary function of the area of the event-horizon, we have tried to find the conditions and the restrictions over the scalar field and equation of state for the validity of the GSLT and both in quintessence-era and in phantom-era in scalar tensor theory.

Considering the universe as a thermodynamical system the second law of black hole dynamics extends to the non-negativity of the sum of the entropy of the matter and the horizon, known as generalized second law of thermodynamics(GSLT). Here, we have assumed the universe to be bounded by the event-horizon where Bekenstein entropy-area relation and Hawking-temperature are not applicable. Thus considering entropy to be an arbitrary function of the area of the event-horizon, we have tried to find the nature of the entropy-function for the validity of the GSLT both in quintessence-era and in phantom-era. It is investigated how dark energy modifies the collapsing process and is examined whether dark energy has any effect on the Cosmic Censorship Conjecture. Towards a unification of gravity and Yang-Mills theory

We introduce a gauge and diffeomorphism invariant theory on Yang-Mills phase space. The theory is well defined for an arbitrary gauge group with an invariant bilinear form, it contains only first class constraints, and the spacetime metric has a simple form in terms of the phase space variables. With gauge group $SO(3,C)$, the theory equals the Ashtekar formulation of gravity with a cosmological constant. For Lorentzian signature, the theory is complex, and we have not found any good reality conditions. In the Euclidean signature case, everything is real. In a weak field expansion around de Sitter spacetime, the theory is shown to give the conventional Yang-Mills theory to the lowest order in the fields.
