Non-stationary Lattice Anderson Model with Non-local Laplacian and Correlated White Noise

We study the non-stationary Anderson parabolic problem on the lattice $Z^d$, i.e., the equation \begin{equation}\label{andersonmodel} \begin{aligned} \frac{\partial u}{\partial t} &=\varkappa \mathcal{A}u(t,x)+ξ_{t}(x)u(t,x) u(0,x) &\equiv 1, \, (t,x) \in [0,\infty)\times Z^d. \end{aligned} \end{equation} Here $\mathcal{A}$ is non-local Laplacian, $ξ_t (x), \ t \geq 0, \ x \in Z^d$ is the family of the correlated white noises and $\varkappa >0$ is the diffusion coefficient. The changes of $\varkappa$ (large versus small) are responsible for the qualitative phase transition in the model. At the first step the analysis of the model is reduced to the solution of the stochastic differential equation(SDE) (in the standard Itô's form) on the weighted Hilbert space $l^2(Z^d,μ)$ with appropriate measure $μ$. The equations of first two moments of the solution $u(t,x)$ are derived and studied using the spectral analysis of the corresponding Schrödinger operators with special class of the positive definite potentials. The analysis reveals several bifurcations depending on the properties of the kernel of $\mathcal{A}$ and the correlation function in the potential.

Hierarchical Schrödinger-type operators: the case of potentials with local singularities

The goal of this paper is twofold. We prove that the operator $H=L+V$ , a perturbation of the Taibleson-Vladimirov multiplier $L=\mathfrak{D}^α$ by a potential $V(x)=b\left\Vert x\right\Vert ^{-α},$ $b\geq b_{\ast},$ is essentially self-adjoint and non-negative definite (the critical value $b_{\ast}$ depends on $α$ and will be specified later). While the operator $H$ is non-negative definite the potential $V(x)$ may well take negative values, e.g. $b_{\ast}<0$ for all $0<α<1$. The equation $Hu=v$ admiits a Green function $g_{H}(x,y)$, the integral kernel of the operator $H^{-1}$. We obtain sharp lower- and upper bounds on the ratio of the functions $g_{H}(x,y)$ and $g_{L}(x,y)$. Examples illustrate our exposition.

On the spectrum of the hierarchical Schrödinger type operators

The goal of this paper is the spectral analysis of the Schrödinger type operator $H=L+V$, the perturbation of the Taibleson-Vladimirov multiplier $L=\mathfrak{D}^α$ by a potential $V$. Assuming that $V$ belongs to a certain class of potentials we show that the discrete part of the spectrum of $H$ may contain negative energies, it also appears in the spectral gaps of $L$. We will split the spectrum of $H$ in two parts: high energy part containing eigenvalues which correspond to the eigenfunctions located on the support of the potential $V,$ and low energy part which lies in the spectrum of certain bounded Schrödinger-type operator acting on the Dyson hierarchical lattice. We pay special attention to the class of sparse potentials. In this case we obtain precise spectral asymptotics for $H$ provided the sequence of distances between locations tends to infinity fast enough. We also obtain certain results concerning localization theory for $H$ subject to (non-ergodic) random potential $V$. Examples illustrate our approach.

A multi-class extension of the mean field Bolker-Pacala population model

We extend our earlier mean field approximation of the Bolker-Pacala model of population dynamics by dividing the population into N classes, using a mean field approximation for each class but also allowing migration between classes as well as possibly suppressive influence of the population of one class over another class. For N at least 2, we obtain one symmetric non-trivial equilibrium for the system and give global limit theorems. For N=2, we calculate all equilibrium solutions, which, under additional conditions, include multiple non-trivial equilibria. Lastly, we prove geometric ergodicity regardless of the number of classes when there is no population suppression across the classes.

On ground state of non local Schrodinger operators

We study a ground state of a non local Schrodinger operator associated with an evolution equation for the density of population in the stochastic contact model in continuum with inhomogeneous mortality rates. We found a new effect in this model, when even in the high dimensional case the existence of a small positive perturbation of a special form (so-called, small paradise) implies the appearance of the ground state. We consider the problem in the Banach space of bounded continuous functions $C_b (R^d)$ and in the Hilbert space $L^2(R^d)$.

Heavy tails and one-dimensional localization

We address the fundamental questions concerning the operator \begin{eqnarray*} H^{θ_0}ψ(x)=-ψ"(x)+V(x,ω)ψ(x),\,ψ(0)\cosθ_0-ψ'(0)\sinθ_0=0. \end{eqnarray*} where the random potential $V$ has a variety of forms. In one example, it is composed of width one bumps of random heights where the square root of the heights are in the domain of attraction of a stable law with index $α\in(0,1)$ or in another it is composed of width one bumps of height one where the distance between bumps is in the domain of attraction of a stable law with index $α\in(0,1).$ We consider the existence of Lyapunov exponents, integrated density of states and the nature of the spectrum of the operator.

On the Critical Behavior of a Homopolymers Model

Taking $P^0$ to be the measure induced by simple, symmetric nearest neighbor continuous time random walk on ${\bf{Z^d}}$ starting at $0$ with jump rate $2d$ define, for $β\ge 0,\,t>0,$ the Gibbs probability measure $P_{β,t}$ by specifying its density with respect to $P^0$ as \begin{eqnarray} \frac{dP_{β,t}}{dP^0}=Z_{β,t}(0)^{-1}e^{β\int_0^tδ_0(x_s)ds} \end{eqnarray} where $Z_{β,t}(0)\equiv E^0[e^{β\int_0^tδ_0(x_s)ds}].$ This Gibbs probability measure provides a simple model for a homopolymer with an attractive potential at the origin. In a previous paper \cite{CM07}, we showed that for dimension $d\ge3$ there is a phase transition in the behavior of these paths from diffusive behavior for $β$ below a critical parameter to positive recurrent behavior for $β$ above this critical value. This corresponds to a transition from a diffusive or stretched out phase to a globular phase for the polymer. The critical value was determined by means of the spectral properties of the operator $Δ+βδ_0$ where $Δ$ is the discrete Laplacian on ${\bf{Z^d}}.$ In this paper we give a description of the polymer at the critical value where the phase transition takes place. The behavior at the critical parameter is in some sense midway between the two phases and dimension dependent.

Spectral dimension and Bohr's formula for Schrodinger operators on unbounded fractal spaces

We establish an asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalue counting function of the Schrödinger operator $-Δ+V$ for some unbounded potentials $V$ on several types of unbounded fractal spaces. We give sufficient conditions for Bohr's formula to hold on metric measure spaces which admit a cellular decomposition, and then verify these conditions for fractafolds and fractal fields based on nested fractals. In particular, we partially answer a question of Fan, Khandker, and Strichartz regarding the spectral asymptotics of the harmonic oscillator potential on the infinite blow-up of a Sierpinski gasket.

Density behavior of spatial birth-and-death stochastic evolution of mutating genotypes under selection rates

We consider birth-and-death stochastic evolution of genotypes with different lengths. The genotypes might mutate that provides a stochastic changing of lengthes by a free diffusion law. The birth and death rates are length dependent which corresponds to a selection effect. We study an asymptotic behavior of a density for an infinite collection of genotypes. The cases of space homogeneous and space heterogeneous densities are considered.

Branching diffusion in the super-critical regime

We investigate the long-time evolution of branching diffusion processes (starting with a single particle) in inhomogeneous media. The qualitative behavior of the processes depends on the intensity of the branching. We analyze the super-critical case, when the total number of particles growing exponentially with positive probability. We study the asymptotics of the number of particles in different regions of space and describe the growth of the region occupied by the particles.

Transition from the annealed to the quenched asymptotics for a random walk on random obstacles

In this work we study a natural transition mechanism describing the passage from a quenched (almost sure) regime to an annealed (in average) one, for a symmetric simple random walk on random obstacles on sites having an identical and independent law. The transition mechanism we study was first proposed in the context of sums of identical independent random exponents by Ben Arous, Bogachev and Molchanov in [Probab. Theory Related Fields 132 (2005) 579--612]. Let $p(x,t)$ be the survival probability at time $t$ of the random walk, starting from site $x$, and let $L(t)$ be some increasing function of time. We show that the empirical average of $p(x,t)$ over a box of side $L(t)$ has different asymptotic behaviors depending on $L(t)$. T here are constants $0<γ_1<γ_2$ such that if $L(t)\ge e^{γt^{d/(d+2)}}$, with $γ>γ_1$, a law of large numbers is satisfied and the empirical survival probability decreases like the annealed one; if $L(t)\ge e^{γt^{d/(d+2)}}$, with $γ>γ_2$, also a central limit theorem is satisfied. If ${L(t)\ll t}$, the averaged survival probability decreases like the quenched survival probability. If $t\ll L(t)$ and $\log L(t)\ll t^{d/(d+2)}$ we obtain an intermediate regime. Furthermore, when the dimension $d=1$ it is possible to describe the fluctuations of the averaged survival probability when $L(t)=e^{γt^{d/(d+2)}}$ with $γ<γ_2$: it is shown that they are infinitely divisible laws with a Lévy spectral function which explodes when $x\to0$ as stable laws of characteristic exponent $α<2$. These results show that the quenched and annealed survival probabilities correspond to a low- and high-temperature behavior of a mean-field type phase transition mechanism.
