Connecting between inflation and dark matter in models with gauged Z3Z_3 symmetry

We investigate the possibility of unifying the inflation and dark matter physics in the minimal model for a complex scalar dark matter with gauged Z3Z_3 symmetry. The dark local U(1)U(1) symmetry is broken spontaneously into the Z3Z_3 symmetry by the dark Higgs mechanism. As compared to dark matter models with Z2Z_2 parity, the dark matter cubic self-interaction restricts the inflation with non-minimal couplings to take place beyond the pure dark matter direction and plays an important role in the loop corrections for the inflationary predictions as well as determining the correct dark matter relic density. Considering either of 2→22\rightarrow 2, 3→23\rightarrow 2 or forbidden channels to be a dominant production mechanism for dark matter, we show the viable parameter space of the model that is consistent with the theoretical and phenomenological constraints combined from inflation and dark matter.

Diphoton resonance confronts dark matter

As an interpretation of the 750 GeV diphoton excesses recently reported by both ATLAS and CMS collaborations, we consider a simple extension of the Standard Model with a Dirac fermion dark matter where a singlet complex scalar field mediates between dark matter and SM particles via effective couplings to SM gauge bosons and/or Higgs-portal. In this model, we can accommodate the diphoton events through the direct and/or cascade decays of pseudo-scalar and real scalar partners of the complex scalar field. We show that mono-jet searches and gamma-ray observations are complementary in constraining the region where the width of the diphoton resonance can be enhanced due to the couplings of the resonance to dark matter and the correct relic density is obtained. In the case of cascade decay of the resonance, the effective couplings of singlet scalars can be smaller, but the model is still testable by the future discrimination between single photon and photon-jet at the LHC as well as the gamma-ray searches for the cascade annihilation of dark matter.

Inflection point inflation and reheating

We revisit the inflection point inflation with an extended discussion to large field values and consider the reheating effects on the inflationary predictions. Parametrizing the reheating dynamics in terms of the reheating temperature and the equation of state during inflation, we show how the observationally favored parameter space of inflection point inflation is affected by reheating dynamics. Consequently, we apply the general results to the inflation models with non-minimal coupling, such as the SM Higgs inflation and the B−LB-L Higgs inflation.

Resonant SIMP dark matter

We consider a resonant SIMP dark matter in models with two singlet complex scalar fields charged under a local dark U(1)DU(1)_D. After the U(1)DU(1)_D is broken down to a Z5Z_5 discrete subgroup, the lighter scalar field becomes a SIMP dark matter which has the enhanced 3→23\rightarrow 2 annihilation cross section near the resonance of the heavier scalar field. Bounds on the SIMP self-scattering cross section and the relic density can be fulfilled at the same time for perturbative couplings of SIMP. A small gauge kinetic mixing between the SM hypercharge and dark gauge bosons can be used to make SIMP dark matter in kinetic equilibrium with the SM during freeze-out.

SIMP dark matter with gauged Z3Z_3 symmetry

We consider a complex scalar field as SIMP dark matter in models with gauged Z3Z_3 discrete symmetry appearing as a remnant of dark local U(1)U(1). Dark matter (DM) annihilates dominantly by the 3-to-2 scattering, due to the DM cubic coupling in combination with the DM quartic coupling or the Z′Z' gauge and dark Higgs couplings. We show that a light Z′Z' gauge boson makes DM in kinetic equilibrium with thermal plasma at freeze-out and it affects the DM relic density and perturbativity/unitarity constraints for DM self-interactions. We show that the large DM self-interactions are consistent with solving small-scale structure problems and explaining the DM halo separation recently observed in Abell 3827 cluster. Various bounds on the model from the SIMP conditions, DM self-interactions, Z′Z' searches, DM direct/indirect detection experiments, and Higgs signals, are also discussed.
