Quantum transport in a one-dimensional quasicrystal with mobility edges

Quantum transport in a one-dimensional (1D) quasiperiodic lattice with mobility edges is explored. We first investigate the adiabatic pumping between left and right edge modes by resorting to two edge-bulk-edge channels and demonstrate that the success or failure of the adiabatic pumping depends on whether the corresponding bulk subchannel undergoes a localization-delocalization transition. Compared with the paradigmatic Aubry-André (AA) model, the introduction of mobility edges triggers an opposite outcome for successful pumping in the two channels, showing a discrepancy of critical condition, and facilitates the robustness of the adiabatic pumping against quasidisorder. We also consider the transfer between excitations at both boundaries of the lattice and an anomalous phenomenon characterized by the enhanced quasidisorder contributing to the excitation transfer is found. Furthermore, there exists a parametric regime where a nonreciprocal effect emerges in the presence of mobility edges, which leads to a unidirectional transport for the excitation transfer and enables potential applications in the engineering of quantum diodes.

Dissipation-induced topological phase transition and periodic-driving-induced photonic topological state transfer in a small optomechanical lattice

We propose a scheme to investigate the topological phase transition and the topological state transfer based on the small optomechanical lattice under the realistic parameters regime. We find that the optomechanical lattice can be equivalent to a topologically nontrivial Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model via designing the effective optomechanical coupling. Especially, the optomechanical lattice experiences the phase transition between topologically nontrivial SSH phase and topologically trivial SSH phase by controlling the decay of the cavity field and the optomechanical coupling. We stress that the topological phase transition is mainly induced by the decay of the cavity field, which is counter-intuitive since the dissipation is usually detrimental to the system. Also, we investigate the photonic state transfer between the two cavity fields via the topologically protected edge channel based on the small optomechanical lattice. We find that the quantum state transfer assisted by the topological zero energy mode can be achieved via implying the external lasers with the periodical driving amplitudes into the cavity fields. Our scheme provides the fundamental and the insightful explanations toward the mapping of the photonic topological insulator based on the micro-nano optomechanical quantum optical platform.

Engineering of topological state transfer and topological beam splitter in an even-size Su-Schrieffer-Heeger chain

The usual Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with an even number of lattice sites possesses two degenerate zero energy modes. The degeneracy of the zero energy modes leads to the mixing between the topological left and right edge states, which makes it difficult to implement the state transfer via topological edge channel. Here, enlightened by the Rice-Male topological pumping, we find that the staggered periodic next-nearest neighbor hoppings can also separate the initial mixed edge states, which ensures the state transfer between topological left and right edge states. Significantly, we construct an unique topological state transfer channel by introducing the staggered periodic on-site potentials and the periodic next-nearest neighbor hoppings added only on the odd sites simultaneously, and find that the state initially prepared at the last site can be transfered to the first two sites with the same probability distribution. This special topological state transfer channel is expected to realize a topological beam splitter, whose function is to make the initial photon at one position appear at two different positions with the same probability. Further, we demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the topological beam splitter based on the circuit quantum electrodynamic lattice. Our scheme opens up a new way for the realization of topological quantum information processing and provides a new path towards the engineering of new type of quantum optical device.

Enhanced photon blockade in an optomechanical system with parametric amplification

We propose a scheme to enhance the single- and two-photon blockade effect significantly in a standard optomechanical system (OMS) via optical parametric amplification (OPA). The scheme does not rely on the strong single-photon optomechanical coupling and can eliminate the disadvantages of suppressing multi-photon excitation incompletely. Through analyzing the single-photon blockade (1PB) mechanism and optimizing the system parameters, we obtain a perfect 1PB with a high occupancy probability of single-photon excitation, which means that a high quality and efficient single-photon source can be generated. Moreover, we find that not only the two-photon blockade (2PB) effect is significantly enhanced but also the region of 2PB occurring is widened when the OPA exists, where we also derive the optimal parameter condition to maximize the two-photon emission and the higher photon excitations are intensely suppressed at the same time.

Ground state cooling of magnomechanical resonator in PT-symmetric cavity magnomechanical system at room temperature

We propose to realize the ground state cooling of magnomechanical resonator in a parity-time (PT)-symmetric cavity magnomechanical system composed of a loss ferromagnetic sphere and a gain microwave cavity. In the scheme, the magnomechanical resonator can be cooled close to its ground state via the magnomechanical interaction, and it is found that the cooling effect in PT-symmetric system is much higher than that in non-PT-symmetric system. Resorting to the magnetic force noise spectrum, we investigate the final mean phonon number with experimentally feasible parameters and find surprisingly that the ground state cooling of magnomechanical resonator can be directly achieved at room temperature. Furthermore, we also illustrate that the ground state cooling can be flexibly controlled via the external magnetic field.

Magnon blockade in a PT-symmetric-like cavity magnomechanical system

We investigate the magnon blockade effect in a parity-time (PT) symmetric-like three-mode cavity magnomechanical system involving the magnon-photon and magnon-phonon interactions. In the broken and unbroken PT-symmetric regions, we respectively calculate the second-order correlation function analytically and numerically and further determine the optimal value of detuning. By adjusting different system parameters, we study the different blockade mechanisms and find that the perfect magnon blockade effect can be observed under the weak parameter mechanism. Our work paves a way to achieve the magnon blockade in experiment.

Optical nonreciprocal response and conversion in a Tavis-Cummings coupling optomechanical system

We propose a scheme to realize optical nonreciprocal response and conversion in a Tavis-Cummings coupling optomechanical system, where a single cavity mode interacts with the vibrational mode of a flexible membrane with an embedded ensemble of two-level quantum emitters. Due to the introduction of the Tavis-Cummings interaction, we find that the phases between the mechanical mode and the optical mode, as well as between the mechanical mode and the dopant mode, are correlated with each other, and further give the analytical relationship between them. By optimizing the system parameters, especially the relative phase between two paths, the optimal nonreciprocal response can be achieved. Under the frequency domain, we derive the transmission matrix of the system analytically based on the input-output relation and study the influence of the system parameters on the nonreciprocal response of the quantum input signal. Moreover, compared with the conventional optomechanical systems, the Tavis-Cummings coupling optomechanical system exhibits richer nonreciprocal conversion phenomena among the optical mode, mechanical mode, and dopant mode, which provide a new applicable way of achieving the phonon-photon transducer and the optomechanical circulator in future practice.

Photon blockade in a double-cavity optomechanical system with nonreciprocal coupling

Photon blockade is an effective way to generate single photon, which is of great significance in quantum state preparation and quantum information processing. Here we investigate the statistical properties of photons in a double-cavity optomechanical system with nonreciprocal coupling, and explore the photon blockade in the weak and strong coupling regions respectively. To achieve the strong photon blockade, we give the optimal parameter relations under different blockade mechanisms. Moreover, we find that the photon blockades under their respective mechanisms exhibit completely different behaviors with the change of nonreciprocal coupling, and the perfect photon blockade can be achieved without an excessively large optomechanical coupling, i.e., the optomechanical coupling is much smaller than the mechanical frequency, which breaks the traditional cognition. Our proposal provides a feasible and flexible platform for the realization of single-photon source.

Robust interface-state laser in non-Hermitian micro-resonator arrays

We propose a scheme to achieve the analogous interface-state laser by dint of the interface between the two intermediate-resonator-coupled non-Hermitian resonator chains. We find that, after introducing the couplings between the two resonator chains and the intermediate resonator at the interface, the photons of the system mainly gather into the three resonators near the intermediate resonator. The phenomenon of the photon gathering towards the certain resonators is expected to construct the photon storage and even the laser generator. We reveal that the phenomenon is induced via the joint effect between the isolated intermediate resonator and two kinds of non-Hermitian skin effects. Specially, we investigate the interface-state laser in topologically trivial non-Hermitian resonator array in detail. We find that the pulsed interface-state laser can be achieved accompanying with the intermittent proliferation of the photons at the intermediate resonator when an arbitrary resonator is excited. Also, we reveal that the pulsed interface-state laser in the topologically trivial non-Hermitian resonator array is immune to the on-site defects in some cases, whose mechanism is mainly induced by the nonreciprocal couplings instead of the protection of topology. Our scheme provides a promising and excellent platform to investigate interface-state laser in the micro-resonator array.

Strong mechanical squeezing in a standard optomechanical system by pump modulation

Being beneficial for the amplitude modulation of the pump laser, we propose a simple yet surprisingly effective mechanical squeezing scheme in a standard optomechanical system. By merely introducing a specific kind of periodic modulation into the single-tone driving field to cool down the mechanical Bogoliubov mode, the far beyond 3-dB strong mechanical squeezing can be engineered without requiring any additional techniques. Specifically, we find that the amount of squeezing is not simply dependent on the order of magnitude of the effective optomechanical coupling but strongly on the ratio of sideband strengths for it. To maximize the mechanical squeezing, we numerically and analytically optimize this ratio in the steady-state regime, respectively. The mechanical squeezing engineered in our scheme also has strong robustness and can survive at a high bath temperature. Compared with previous schemes based on the two-tone pump technique, our scheme involves fewer external control laser source and can be extended to other quantum systems to achieve strong squeezing effect.

Controllable double quantum state transfers by one topological channel in a frequency-modulated optomechanical array

We propose a scheme to achieve the quantum state transfer via the topological protected edge channel based on a one dimensional frequency-modulated optomechanical array. We find that the optomechanical array can be mapped into a Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model after eliminating the counter rotating wave terms via frequency modulations. By dint of the edge channel of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model, we show that the quantum state transfer between the photonic left edge state and the photonic right edge state can be achieved with a high fidelity. Specially, our scheme can also achieve another phononic quantum state transfer based on the same channel via controlling the next-nearest-neighboring interactions between the cavity fields, which is different from the previous investigations only achieving one kind of quantum state transfer. Our scheme provides a novel path to switch two different kinds of quantum state transfers in a controllable way.

Topological and nontopological edge states induced by qubit-assisted coupling potentials

In the usual Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) chain, the topology of the energy spectrum is divided into two categories in different parameter regions. Here we study the topological and nontopological edge states induced by qubit-assisted coupling potentials in circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) lattice system modelled as a SSH chain. We find that, when the coupling potential added on only one end of the system raises to a certain extent, the strong coupling potential will induce a new topologically nontrivial phase accompanied with the appearance of a nontopological edge state in the whole parameter region, and the novel phase transition leads to the inversion of odd-even effect in the system directly. Furthermore, we also study the topological properties as well as phase transitions when two unbalanced coupling potentials are injected into both the ends of the circuit QED lattice system, and find that the system exhibits three distinguishing phases in the process of multiple flips of energy bands. These phases are significantly different from the previous phase induced via unilateral coupling potential, which is reflected by the existence of a pair of nontopological edge states under strong coupling potential regime. Our scheme provides a feasible and visible method to induce a variety of different kinds of topological and nontopological edge states through controlling the qubit-assisted coupling potentials in circuit QED lattice system both in experiment and theory.

Topological phase induced by distinguishing parameter regimes in cavity optomechanical system with multiple mechanical resonators

We propose two kinds of distinguishing parameter regimes to induce topological Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) phase in a one dimensional (1D) multi-resonator cavity optomechanical system via modulating the frequencies of both cavity fields and resonators. The introduction of the frequency modulations allows us to eliminate the Stokes heating process for the mapping of the tight-binding Hamiltonian without usual rotating wave approximation, which is totally different from the traditional mapping of the topological tight-binding model. We find that the tight-binding Hamiltonian can be mapped into a topological SSH phase via modifying the Bessel function originating from the frequency modulations of cavity fields and resonators, and the induced SSH phase is independent on the effective optomechanical coupling strength. On the other hand, the insensitivity of the system to the effective optomechanical coupling provides us another new path to induce the topological SSH phase based on the present 1D cavity optomechanical system. And we show that the system can exhibit a topological SSH phase via varying the effective optomechanical coupling strength in an alternative way, which is much more easier to be achieved in experiment. Furthermore, we also construct an analogous bosonic Kitaev model with the trivial topology by keeping the Stokes heating processes. Our scheme provides a steerable platform to investigate the effects of next-nearest-neighboring interactions on the topology of the system.

Direct conversion of a three-atom W state to a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state in spatially separated cavities

State conversion between Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state and W state is an open challenging problem because they cannot be converted to each other only by local operations and classical communication. Here we propose a cavity quantum electrodynamics method based on interference of polarized photons emitted by the atoms trapped in spatially separated optical cavities that can convert a three-atom W state to a GHZ state. We calculate the success probability and fidelity of the converted GHZ state when the cavity decay, atomic spontaneous decay, and photon leakage of the cavities are taken into account for a practical system, which shows that the proposed scheme is feasible and within the reach of current experimental technology.

Dressed-state scheme for a fast CNOT gate

A highly feasible dressed-state scheme, which greatly speeds up the adiabatic population transfer of a quantum system, is applied for implementing a fast CNOT gate in a cavity QED system. The cavity QED system consists of two identical five-level atoms which are respectively trapped in two optical cavities connected by a fiber. With the help of quantum Zeno dynamics, the CNOT gate is constructed by three steps with six pulses. Because the adiabatic condition is not necessary to be considered and all of the pulses are smoothly turned on and off, the scheme is fast and feasible in experiment. Numerical simulations indicate that the average fidelity for constructing the CNOT gate is quite high and the gate operation time is relatively short. Moreover, the effects on the fidelity of the atomic spontaneous emission and the photon leakages from the cavities are discussed by the master equation and the result shows the scheme is robust against the decoherence.

Fast adiabatic quantum state transfer and entanglement generation between two atoms via dressed states

Recently, a new method, which can significantly speed up adiabatic quantum state transfer by using dressed states, was proposed by Baksic \emph{et~al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{116}, 230503 (2016)]. Assisted by quantum Zeno dynamics, we develop this dressed-state method to achieve shortcuts to complete and fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage for speeding up adiabatic two-atom quantum state transfer and maximum entanglement generation, respectively. By means of some numerical simulations, we determine the parameters used in the scheme which can guarantee the feasibility and efficiency both in theory and experiment. Besides, we give strict numerical simulations to discuss the scheme's robustness, and the results show the scheme is robust against the variations in the parameters, atomic spontaneous emissions and the photon leakages from the cavity.

Fast generation of three-dimensional entanglement between two spatially separated atoms via invariant-based shortcut

A scheme is proposed for the fast generation of three-dimensional entanglement between two atoms trapped in two cavities connected by a fiber via invariant-based shortcut to adiabatic passage. With the help of quantum Zeno dynamics, the technique of invariant-based shortcut to adiabatic passage is applied for the generation of two-atom three-dimensional entanglement. The numerical simulation results show that, within a short time, the scheme has a high fidelity and is robust against the decoherence caused by the atomic spontaneous emission, photon leakage, and the variations in the parameters selected. Moreover, the scheme may be possible to be implemented with the current experimental technology.

Fast generations of tree-type three-dimensional entanglement via Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants and transitionless quantum driving

Recently, a novel three-dimensional entangled state called tree-type entanglement, which is likely to have applications for improving quantum communication security, was prepared via adiabatic passage by Song et al. [Phys. Rev. A 93, 062321 (2016)]. Here we propose two schemes for fast generations of tree-type three-dimensional entanglement among three spatially separated atoms via shortcuts to adiabatic passage. With the help of quantum Zeno dynamics, two kinds of different but equivalent methods, Lewis-Riesenfeld invariants and transitionless quantum driving, are applied to construct shortcuts to adiabatic passage. The comparisons between the two methods are discussed. The strict numerical simulations show that the tree-type three-dimensional entangled states can be fast prepared with quite high fidelities and the two schemes are both robust against the variations in the parameters, atomic spontaneous emissions and the cavity-fiber photon leakages.

Modulation of entanglement between two oscillators separated in space with an optical parametric amplifier

We propose a scheme to modulate the entanglement between two oscillators separated in space via the squeezing cavity field generated by the optical parametric amplifier instead of injecting the squeezing field directly with the assistance of Coulomb interaction. We show that the Coulomb interaction between the oscillators is the essential reason for the existence of entanglement. Due to the gain of the optical parametric amplifier and the phase of the pump driving the optical parametric amplifier can simultaneously modulate the squeezing cavity field, the radiation pressure interaction between the cavity field and the oscillator is modulated accordingly. We find that there is competing effect between the radiation pressure interaction and the Coulomb interaction for the oscillator which these two interactions act on simultaneously. Therefore, the modulation of entanglement can be achieved with the assistance of Coulomb interaction. The results of numerical simulation show that the present scheme has stronger robustness against the temperature of environment compared with previous schemes in experimentally feasible regimes.

Multi-qubit non-adiabatic holonomic controlled quantum gates in decoherence-free subspaces

Non-adiabatic holonomic quantum gate in decoherence-free subspaces is of greatly practical importance due to its built-in fault tolerance, coherence stabilization virtues, and short run-time. Here we propose some compact schemes to implement two- and three-qubit controlled unitary quantum gates and Fredkin gate. For the controlled unitary quantum gates, the unitary operator acting on the target qubit is an arbitrary single-qubit gate operation. The controlled quantum gates can be directly implemented using non-adiabatic holonomy in decoherence-free subspaces and the required resource for the decoherence-free subspace encoding is minimal by using only two neighboring physical qubits undergoing collective dephasing to encode a logical qubit.

Robust entanglement between a movable mirror and atomic ensemble and entanglement transfer in coupled optomechanical system

We propose a scheme for the creation of robust entanglement between a movable mirror and atomic ensemble at the macroscopic level in coupled optomechanical system. In experimentally accessible parameter regimes, we show that critical temperature of the bipartite continuous variable entanglement in our scheme can be raised from previous 24 K [Vitali {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{98}, 030405 (2007)] and 20 K [Genes {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. A \textbf{77}, 050307(R) (2008)] to 32 K. We also investigate the entanglement transfer based on this coupled system. The scheme can be used for the realization of quantum memories for continuous variable quantum information processing and quantum-limited displacement measurements.

Steady-state mechanical squeezing in a double-cavity optomechanical system

We study the physical properties of double-cavity optomechanical system in which the mechanical resonator interacts with one of the coupled cavities and another cavity is used as an auxiliary cavity. The model can be expected to achieve the strong optomechanical coupling strength and overcome the optomechanical cavity decay, simultaneously. Through the coherent auxiliary cavity interferences, the steady-state squeezing of mechanical resonator can be generated in highly unresolved sideband regime. The validity of the scheme is assessed by numerical simulation and theoretical analysis of the steady-state variance of the mechanical displacement quadrature. The scheme provides a platform for the mechanical squeezing beyond the resolved sideband limit and addresses the restricted experimental bounds at present.

Beam Collimation Using an Anisotropic Metamaterial Slab without Any Nanometer-sized Aperture

Plasmonic beam collimation effect has been thoroughly investigated based on the well-known nanometer-scale bull's eye structure formed by complex and high-cost fabrication processes. In this work, we report our effort for attaining beam collimation using an anisotropic metamaterial (AMM) slab that consists of a stack of alternating metal/dielectric layers and an integrated top metal grating. The results show that AMM slab allows creating the beam collimation effect similar to that of the bull's eye structure, an enabling technology for practical application due to its simple architecture and cost benefits. The excitation of surface plasmons at the AMM/air interface is derived. The structure of the AMM slab and its impact on beaming performance were analyzed using the effective medium theory and Finite Element Method.

Preparation of entanglement between atoms in spatially separated cavities via fiber loss

We propose a scheme to prepare a maximally entangled state for two Lambda-type atoms trapped in separate optical cavities coupled through an optical fiber based on the combined effect of the unitary dynamics and the dissipative process. Our work shows that the fiber loss, as well as the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay, is no longer undesirable, but requisite to prepare the distributed entanglement, which is meaningful for the long distance quantum information processing tasks. Originating from an arbitrary state, the desired state could be prepared without precise time control. The robustness of the scheme is numerically demonstrated by considering various parameters.

Simplified scheme for entanglement preparation with Rydberg pumping via dissipation

Inspired by recent work [A. W. Carr and M. Saffman, Phys. Rev. Lett. 111, 033607 (2013)], we propose a simplified scheme to prepare the two-atom maximally entangled states via dissipative Rydberg pumping. Compared with the former scheme, the simplified one involves less classical laser fields and Rydberg interactions, and the asymmetric Rydberg interactions are avoided. Master equation simulations demonstrate that the fidelity and the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt correlation of the maximally entangled state could reach up to 0.999 and 2.821, respectively, under certain conditions. Furthermore, we extend the physical thoughts to prepare the three-dimensional entangled state, the numerical simulations show that, in theory, both the fidelity and the Negativity of the desired entanglement could be very close to unity under certain conditions.

Steady-state mechanical squeezing in a hybrid atom-optomechanical system with a highly dissipative cavity

Quantum squeezing of mechanical resonator is important for studying the macroscopic quantum effects and the precision metrology of weak forces. Here we give a theoretical study of a hybrid atom-optomechanical system in which the steady-state squeezing of the mechanical resonator can be generated via the mechanical nonlinearity and cavity cooling process. The validity of the scheme is assessed by simulating the steady-state variance of the mechanical displacement quadrature numerically. The scheme is robust against dissipation of the optical cavity, and the steady-state squeezing can be effectively generated in a highly dissipative cavity.

Adiabatic passage for three-dimensional entanglement generation through quantum Zeno dynamics

We propose an adiabatic passage approach to generate two atoms three- dimensional entanglement with the help of quantum Zeno dynamics in a time- dependent interacting field. The atoms are trapped in two spatially separated cavi- ties connected by a fiber, so that the individual addressing is needless. Because the scheme is based on the resonant interaction, the time required to generate entangle- ment is greatly shortened. Since the fields remain in vacuum state and all the atoms are in the ground states, the losses due to the excitation of photons and the spon- taneous transition of atoms are suppressed efficiently compared with the dispersive protocols. Numerical simulation results show that the scheme is robust against the decoherences caused by the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission. Addi- tionally, the scheme can be generalized to generate N-atom three-dimensional en- tanglement and high-dimensional entanglement for two spatially separated atoms.

Counterfactual quantum-information transfer

We demonstrate quantum information can be transferred between two distant participants without any physical particles travelling between them. The key procedure of the counterfactual scheme is to entangle two nonlocal qubits with each other without interaction, so the scheme can also be used to generate nonlocal entanglement counterfactually. We here illustrate the scheme by using flying photon qubits and stationary electron-spin qubits assisted by quantum dots inside double-sided optical microcavities. Unlike the typical teleportation, the present scheme does not require prior entanglement sharing or classical communication between the two distant participants.

Generation of atomic NOON states via adiabatic passage

We propose a scheme for generating atomic NOON states via adiabatic passage. In the scheme, a double $Λ$-type three-level atom is trapped in a bimodal cavity and two sets of $Λ$-type three-level atoms are translated into and outside of two single mode cavities respectively. The three cavities connected by optical fibres are always in vacuum states. After a series of operations and suitable interaction time, we can obtain arbitrary large-$n$ NOON states of two sets of $Λ$-type three-level atoms in distant cavities by performing a single projective measurement on the double $Λ$-type three-level atom. Due to adiabatic elimination of atomic excited states and the application of adiabatic passage, our scheme is robust against the spontaneous emissions of atoms, the decays of fibres and cavities photon leakage. So the scheme has a high fidelity and feasibility under the current available techniques.

We propose a scheme for generating a genuine $χ$-type four-particle entangled state of superconducting artificial atoms with broken symmetry by using one-dimensional transmission line resonator as a data bus. The $Δ$-type three-level artificial atom we use in the scheme is different from natural atom and has cyclic transitions. After suitable interaction time and simple operations, the desired entangled state can be obtained. Since artificial atomic excited states and photonic states are adiabatically eliminated, our scheme is robust against the spontaneous emissions of artificial atoms and the decays of transmission line resonator.

One-step implementation of multiqubit phase gate with one control qubit and multiple target qubits in coupled cavities

We propose a one-step scheme to implement a multiqubit controlled phase gate of one qubit simultaneously controlling multiple qubits with three-level atoms at distant nodes in coupled cavity arrays. The selective qubit-qubit couplings are achieved by adiabatically eliminating the atomic excited states and photonic states and the required phase shifts between the control qubit and any target qubit can be realized through suitable choices of the parameters of the external fields. Moreover, the effective model is robust against decoherence because neither the atoms nor the field modes during the gate operation are excited, leading to a useful step toward scalable quantum computing networks.

One-step implementation of the genuine Fredkin gate in high-$Q$ coupled three-cavity arrays

We present two efficient methods for implementing the Fredkin gate with atoms separately trapped in an array of three high-$Q$ coupled cavities. The first proposal is based on the resonant dynamics, which leads to a fast resonant interaction in a certain subspace while leaving others unchanged, and the second one utilizes a dispersive interaction such that the effective long-distance dipole-dipole interaction between two distributed target qubits is achieved by virtually excited process. Both schemes can achieve the standard form of the Fredkin gate in a single step without any subsequent single-qubit operation. The effects of decoherence on the performance of the gate are also analyzed in virtue of master equation, and the strictly numerical simulation reveals that the average fidelity of the quantum gate is high.

This proposal makes full use of the coherent dynamics provided by Rydberg mediated interaction and the dissipative factor originating from the spontaneous emission of Rydberg state. The numerical simulation of the master equation reveals that both the target state negativity ${\cal N}(\hatρ_{\infty})$ and fidelity ${\cal F}(\hatρ_{\infty})$ can exceed 99.90%. One-step achievement of robust multipartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state and controlled-phase gate via Rydberg interaction

We present a proposal for generation of a robust tripartite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger state among three-individual neutral Rydberg atoms. By modulating the relation between two-photon detuning and Rydberg interaction strength $U_{ij}(r)$, an effective Raman coupling is obtained between the hyperfine ground states $|F=2,M=2\rangle$ of three $^{87}$Rb atoms and the Rydberg states $|rrr\rangle$ via the third-order perturbation theory. This method is also capable of implementing a three-qubit controlled-phase gate with each qubit encoded into the hyperfine ground states $|F=1,M=1\rangle$ and $|F=2,M=2\rangle$. As an extension, we generalize our scheme to the case of multipartite GHZ state and quantum gate in virtue of high-order perturbation theory.

Optically controlled phase gate and teleportation of a controlled-NOT gate for spin qubits in quantum dot-microcavity coupled system

Assisted with linear optical manipulation, single photon, entangled photon pairs, photon measurement, and classical communication, a scheme for two-spin qubits phase gate and teleportation of a CNOT gate between two electron spins from acting on local qubits to acting on remote qubits using quantum dots in optical microcavities is proposed. The scheme is based on spin selective photon reflection from the cavity and is achieved in a deterministic way by the sequential detection of photons and the single-qubit rotations of a single electron spin in a self-assembled GaAs/InAs quantum dot. The feasibility of the scheme is assessed showing that high average fidelities of the gates are achievable in the weak-coupling regime when the side leakage and cavity loss are low. The scheme opens promising perspectives for long-distance quantum communication, distributed quantum computation, and constructing remote quantum information processing networks.

On adiabatic evolution for a general time-dependent quantum system

The unitary operator corresponding to the classical canonical transformation that connects a general closed system to an open system under adiabatic conditions is found. The quantum invariant operator of the adiabatic open system is derived from the unitary transformation of the quantum Hamiltonian of the closed system. On the basis of these results, we investigate the evolution of the general quantum adiabatic system and construct a revised adiabatic theorem. The adiabatic theorem developed here exactly reduces to the well-known Berry adiabatic theorem when the control parameter
