Three algorithms for solving high-dimensional fully-coupled FBSDEs through deep learning

Recently, the deep learning method has been used for solving forward-backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs) and parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs). It has good accuracy and performance for high-dimensional problems. In this paper, we mainly solve fully coupled FBSDEs through deep learning and provide three algorithms. Several numerical results show remarkable performance especially for high-dimensional cases.

Stein Type Characterization for $G$-normal Distributions

In this article, we provide a Stein type characterization for $G$-normal distributions: Let $\mathcal{N}[φ]=\max_{μ\inΘ}μ[φ],\ φ\in C_{b,Lip}(\mathbb{R}),$ be a sublinear expectation. $\mathcal{N}$ is $G$-normal if and only if for any $φ\in C_b^2(\mathbb{R})$, we have \[\int_\mathbb{R}[\frac{x}{2}φ'(x)-G(φ"(x))]μ^φ(dx)=0,\] where $μ^φ$ is a realization of $φ$ associated with $\mathcal{N}$, i.e., $μ^φ\in Θ$ and $μ^φ[φ]=\mathcal{N}[φ]$.

G-Expectation Weighted Sobolev Spaces, Backward SDE and Path Dependent PDE

We introduce a new notion of G-expectation-weighted Sobolev spaces, or in short, G-Sobolev spaces, and prove that a backward SDEs driven by G-Brownian motion are in fact path dependent PDEs in the corresponding Sobolev spaces under G-norms. For the linear case of G corresponding the classical Wiener probability space with Wiener measure P, we have established a 1-1 correspondence between BSDE and such new type of quasilinear PDE in the corresponding P-Sobolev space. When G is nonlinear, we also provide such 1-1 correspondence between a fully nonlinear PDE in the corresponding G-Sobolev space and BSDE driven by G-Brownian. Consequently, the existence and uniqueness of such type of fully nonlinear path-dependence PDE in G-Sobolev space have been obtained via a recent results of BSDE driven by G-Brownian motion.

Martingale Problem under Nonlinear Expectations

We formulate and solve the martingale problem in a nonlinear expectation space. Unlike the classical work of Stroock and Varadhan (1969) where the linear operator in the associated PDE is naturally defined from the corresponding diffusion process, the main difficulty in the nonlinear setting is to identify an appropriate class of nonlinear operators for the associated fully nonlinear PDEs. Based on the analysis of the martingale problem, we introduce the notion of weak solution for stochastic differential equations under nonlinear expectations and obtain an existence theorem under the Hölder continuity condition of the coefficients. The approach to establish the existence of weak solutions generalizes the classical Girsanov transformation method in that it no longer requires the two (probability) measures to be absolutely continuous.

Mean-field stochastic differential equations and associated PDEs

In this paper we consider a mean-field stochastic differential equation, also called Mc Kean-Vlasov equation, with initial data $(t,x)\in[0,T]\times R^d,$ which coefficients depend on both the solution $X^{t,x}_s$ but also its law. By considering square integrable random variables $ξ$ as initial condition for this equation, we can easily show the flow property of the solution $X^{t,ξ}_s$ of this new equation. Associating it with a process $X^{t,x,P_ξ}_s$ which coincides with $X^{t,ξ}_s$, when one substitutes $ξ$ for $x$, but which has the advantage to depend only on the law $P_ξ$ of $ξ$, we characterise the function $V(t,x,P_ξ)=E[Φ(X^{t,x,P_ξ}_T,P_{X^{t,ξ}_T})]$ under appropriate regularity conditions on the coefficients of the stochastic differential equation as the unique classical solution of a non local PDE of mean-field type, involving the first and second order derivatives of $V$ with respect to its space variable and the probability law. The proof bases heavily on a preliminary study of the first and second order derivatives of the solution of the mean-field stochastic differential equation with respect to the probability law and a corresponding Itô formula. In our approach we use the notion of derivative with respect to a square integrable probability measure introduced in \cite{PL} and we extend it in a direct way to second order derivatives.

A Complete Representation Theorem for $G$-martingales

In this paper we establish a complete representation theorem for $G$-martingales. Unlike the existing results in the literature, we provide the existence and uniqueness of the second order term, which corresponds to the second order derivative in Markovian case. The main ingredient of the paper is a new norm for that second order term, which is based on an operator introduced by Song [26].

A Note on $G$- Optimal Stopping Problems

We consider a class of discretionary stopping problems within the $G$-framework. We first establish the well-definedness of the stopping problem under the $G$-expectation, by showing the quasi-continuity of the stopped process. We then prove a verification theorem for $G$-optimal stopping problem. One corollary is a direct proof for the well-known fact that the $G$-optimal stopping problem is the same as the classical optimal stopping problem with appropriate parameters, when the payoff function is concave or convex.

Extended Conditional G-Expectations and Related Stopping Times

In this paper we extend the definition of time conditional G-expectations $\mathbb{\hat{E}}_{t}[\cdot]$ to a larger domain on which the dynamical consistency still holds. In fact we can consistently define, by taking the limit, the time conditional expectations for each random variable $X$ which is the downward limit (resp. upward limit) of a monotone sequence $\{X_{i}\}$ in $L_{G}^{1}(Ω)$. To accomplish this procedure, some careful analysis is needed. Moreover, we give a suitable definition of stopping times and obtain the optional stopping theorem. We also provide some basic and interesting properties for the extended conditional G-expectations.

Nonlinear stochastic differential games involving a major player and a large number of collectively acting minor agents

The purpose of this paper is to study 2-person zero-sum stochastic differential games, in which one player is a major one and the other player is a group of $N$ minor agents which are collectively playing, statistically identical and have the same cost-functional. The game is studied in a weak formulation; this means in particular, we can study it as a game of the type "feedback control against feedback control". The payoff/cost functional is defined through a controlled backward stochastic differential equation, for which driving coefficient is assumed to satisfy strict concavity-convexity with respect to the control parameters. This ensures the existence of saddle point feedback controls for the game with $N$ minor agents. We study the limit behavior of these saddle point controls and of the associated Hamiltonian, and we characterize the limit of the saddle point controls as the unique saddle point control of the limit mean-field stochastic differential game.

Backward Stochastic Differential Equations Driven by G-Brownian Motion

In this paper, we study backward stochastic differential equations driven by a G-Brownian motion. The solution of such new type of BSDE is a triple (Y,Z,K) where K is a decreasing G-martingale. Under a Lipschitz condition for generator f and g in Y and Z. The existence and uniqueness of the solution (Y,Z,K) is proved. Although the methods used in the proof and the related estimates are quite different from the classical proof for BSDEs, stochastic calculus in G-framework plays a central role.

Note on Viscosity Solution of Path-Dependent PDE and G-Martingales

In the 2nd version of this note we introduce the notion of viscosity solution for a type of fully nonlinear parabolic path-dependent partial differential equations (P-PDE). We then prove the comparison theorem (or maximum principle) of this new type of equation which is the key property of this framework. To overcome the well-known difficulty of non-compactness of the space of paths for the maximization, we have introduced a new approach, called left frozen maximization approach which permits us to obtain the comparison principle for smooth as well as viscosity solutions of path-dependent PDE. A solution of a backward stochastic differential equation and a G-martingale under a G-expectation are typical examples of such type of solutions of P-PDE. The maximum principle for viscosity solutions of classical PDE, called state dependent PDE, is a special case.

The Pricing Mechanism of Contingent Claims and its Generating Function

In this paper we study dynamic pricing mechanism of contingent claims. A typical model of such pricing mechanism is the so-called g-expectation $E^g_{s,t}[X]$ defined by the solution of the backward stochastic differential equation with generator g and with the contingent claim X as terminal condition. The generating function g this BSDE. We also provide examples of determining the price generating function $g=g(y,z)$ by testing. The main result of this paper is as follows: if a given dynamic pricing mechanism is $E^{g_μ}$-dominated, i.e., the criteria (A5) $E_{s,t}[X]-E_{s,t}[X']\leq E^{g_μ}_{s,t}[X-X']$ is satisfied for a large enough $μ> 0$, where $g_μ=g_μ(|y|+|z|)$, then $E_{s,t}$ is a g-pricing mechanism. This domination condition was statistically tested using CME data documents. The result of test is significantly positive.

BSDE, Path-dependent PDE and Nonlinear Feynman-Kac Formula

In this paper, we introduce a type of path-dependent quasilinear (parabolic) partial differential equations in which the (continuous) paths on an interval [0,t] becomes the basic variables in the place of classical variables (t,x). This new type of PDE are formulated through a classical backward stochastic differential equation (BSDEs, for short) in which the terminal values and the generators are allowed to be general functions of Brownian paths. In this way we have established a new type of nonlinear Feynman-Kac formula for a general non-Markovian BSDE. Some main properties of regularities for this new PDE was obtained.

G-Gaussian Processes under Sublinear Expectations and q-Brownian Motion in Quantum Mechanics

We provide a general approach to construct a stochastic process with a given consistent family of finite dimensional distributions under a nonlinear expectation space. We use this approach to construct a generalized Gaussian process under a sublinear expectation and a q-Brownian motion. The later one is under a complex-valued linear expectation, with which a new type of Feynman-Kac formula can be derived to represent the solution of a Schrödinger equation.

Stopping Times and Related Itô's Calculus with G-Brownian Motion

Under the framework of G-expectation and G-Brownian motion, we introduce Itô's integral for stochastic processes without assuming quasi-continuity. Then we can obtain Itô's integral on stopping time interval. This new formulation permits us to obtain Itô's formula for a general C^{1,2}-function, which essentially generalizes the previous results of Peng [20, 21, 22, 23, 24] as well as those of Gao [8] and Zhang et al. [26].

Sublinear Expectations and Martingales in discrete time

We give a theory of sublinear expectations and martingales in discrete time. Without assuming the existence of a dominating probability measure, we derive the extensions of classical results on uniform integrability, optional stopping of martingales, and martingale convergence. We also give a theory of BSDEs in the context of sublinear expectations and a finite-state space, including general existence and comparison results.

Function spaces and capacity related to a Sublinear Expectation: application to G-Brownian Motion Pathes

In this paper we give some basic and important properties of several typical Banach spaces of functions of $G$-Brownian motion pathes induced by a sublinear expectation--G-expectation. Many results can be also applied to more general situations. A generalized version of Kolmogorov's criterion for continuous modification of a stochastic process is also obtained. The results can be applied to continuous time dynamic and coherent risk measures in finance in particular for path-dependence risky positions under situations of volatility model uncertainty.

Nonlinear Expectations and Stochastic Calculus under Uncertainty

In this book, we introduce a new approach of sublinear expectation to deal with the problem of probability and distribution model uncertainty. We a new type of (robust) normal distributions and the related central limit theorem under sublinear expectation. We also present a new type of Brownian motion under sublinear expectations and the related stochastic calculus of Ito's type. The results provide robust tools for the problem of probability model uncertainty arising from financial risk management, statistics and stochastic controls.

Anticipated backward stochastic differential equations

In this paper we discuss new types of differential equations which we call anticipated backward stochastic differential equations (anticipated BSDEs). In these equations the generator includes not only the values of solutions of the present but also the future. We show that these anticipated BSDEs have unique solutions, a comparison theorem for their solutions, and a duality between them and stochastic differential delay equations.
