Hybrid Multimodal Feature Extraction, Mining and Fusion for Sentiment Analysis

In this paper, we present our solutions for the Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Challenge (MuSe) 2022, which includes MuSe-Humor, MuSe-Reaction and MuSe-Stress Sub-challenges. The MuSe 2022 focuses on humor detection, emotional reactions and multimodal emotional stress utilizing different modalities and data sets. In our work, different kinds of multimodal features are extracted, including acoustic, visual, text and biological features. These features are fused by TEMMA and GRU with self-attention mechanism frameworks. In this paper, 1) several new audio features, facial expression features and paragraph-level text embeddings are extracted for accuracy improvement. 2) we substantially improve the accuracy and reliability of multimodal sentiment prediction by mining and blending the multimodal features. 3) effective data augmentation strategies are applied in model training to alleviate the problem of sample imbalance and prevent the model from learning biased subject characters. For the MuSe-Humor sub-challenge, our model obtains the AUC score of 0.8932. For the MuSe-Reaction sub-challenge, the Pearson's Correlations Coefficient of our approach on the test set is 0.3879, which outperforms all other participants. For the MuSe-Stress sub-challenge, our approach outperforms the baseline in both arousal and valence on the test dataset, reaching a final combined result of 0.5151.

TokenPatronus: A Decentralized NFT Anti-theft Mechanism

The emergence of metaverse brings tremendous evolution to Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), which could certify the ownership the unique digital asset in the cyber world. The NFT market has garnered unprecedented attention from investors and created billions of dollars in transaction volume. Meanwhile, securing NFT is still a challenging issue. Recently, numerous incidents of NFT theft have been reported, leading to incalculable losses for holders. We propose a decentralized NFT anti-theft mechanism called TokenPatronus, which supports the general ERC-721 standard and provide the holders with strong property protection. TokenPatronus contains pre-event protection, in-event interruption, and post-event replevin enhancements for the complete NFTs transactions stages. Four modules are designed to make up the decentralized anti-theft mechanism, including the decentralized access control (DAC), the decentralized risk management (DRM), the decentralized arbitration system (DAS) and the ERC-721G standard smart contract. TokenPatronus is performing on the Turtlecase NFT project of Ethereum and will support more blockchains in the future.

EdgeToll: A Blockchain-based Toll Collection System for Public Sharing of Heterogeneous Edges

Edge computing is a novel paradigm designed toimprove the quality of service for latency sensitive cloud applications. However, the state-of-the-art edge services are designedfor specific applications, which are isolated from each other. To better improve the utilization level of edge nodes, publicresource sharing among edges from distinct service providersshould be encouraged economically. In this work, we employ thepayment channel techniques to design and implement EdgeToll,a blockchain-based toll collection system for heterogeneous public edge sharing. Test-bed has been developed to validate theproposal and preliminary experiments have been conducted todemonstrate the time and cost efficiency of the system.

Improving Cross-domain Recommendation through Probabilistic Cluster-level Latent Factor Model--Extended Version

Cross-domain recommendation has been proposed to transfer user behavior pattern by pooling together the rating data from multiple domains to alleviate the sparsity problem appearing in single rating domains. However, previous models only assume that multiple domains share a latent common rating pattern based on the user-item co-clustering. To capture diversities among different domains, we propose a novel Probabilistic Cluster-level Latent Factor (PCLF) model to improve the cross-domain recommendation performance. Experiments on several real world datasets demonstrate that our proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for the cross-domain recommendation task.

Modeling Relational Data via Latent Factor Blockmodel

In this paper we address the problem of modeling relational data, which appear in many applications such as social network analysis, recommender systems and bioinformatics. Previous studies either consider latent feature based models but disregarding local structure in the network, or focus exclusively on capturing local structure of objects based on latent blockmodels without coupling with latent characteristics of objects. To combine the benefits of the previous work, we propose a novel model that can simultaneously incorporate the effect of latent features and covariates if any, as well as the effect of latent structure that may exist in the data. To achieve this, we model the relation graph as a function of both latent feature factors and latent cluster memberships of objects to collectively discover globally predictive intrinsic properties of objects and capture latent block structure in the network to improve prediction performance. We also develop an optimization transfer algorithm based on the generalized EM-style strategy to learn the latent factors. We prove the efficacy of our proposed model through the link prediction task and cluster analysis task, and extensive experiments on the synthetic data and several real world datasets suggest that our proposed LFBM model outperforms the other state of the art approaches in the evaluated tasks.

Probabilistic Latent Tensor Factorization Model for Link Pattern Prediction in Multi-relational Networks

This paper aims at the problem of link pattern prediction in collections of objects connected by multiple relation types, where each type may play a distinct role. While common link analysis models are limited to single-type link prediction, we attempt here to capture the correlations among different relation types and reveal the impact of various relation types on performance quality. For that, we define the overall relations between object pairs as a \textit{link pattern} which consists in interaction pattern and connection structure in the network, and then use tensor formalization to jointly model and predict the link patterns, which we refer to as \textit{Link Pattern Prediction} (LPP) problem. To address the issue, we propose a Probabilistic Latent Tensor Factorization (PLTF) model by introducing another latent factor for multiple relation types and furnish the Hierarchical Bayesian treatment of the proposed probabilistic model to avoid overfitting for solving the LPP problem. To learn the proposed model we develop an efficient Markov Chain Monte Carlo sampling method. Extensive experiments are conducted on several real world datasets and demonstrate significant improvements over several existing state-of-the-art methods.
