Analytic extensions of Starobinsky model of inflation

We study several extensions of the Starobinsky model of inflation, which obey all observational constraints on the inflationary parameters, by demanding that both the inflaton scalar potential in the Einstein frame and the $F(R)$ gravity function in the Jordan frame have the explicit dependence upon fields {\it and} parameters in terms of elementary functions. Our models are continuously connected to the original Starobinsky model via changing the parameters. We modify the Starobinsky $(R+R^2)$ model by adding an $R^3$-term, an $R^4$-term, and an $R^{3/2}$-term, respectively, and calculate the scalar potentials, the inflationary observables and the allowed limits on the deformation parameters by using the latest observational bounds. We find that the tensor-to-scalar ratio in the Starobinsky model modified by the $R^{3/2}$-term significantly increases with raising the parameter in front of that term. On the other side, we deform the scalar potential of the Starobinsky model in the Einstein frame in powers of $y=\exp\left(-\sqrt{\frac{2}{3}}ϕ/M_{Pl}\right)$, where $ϕ$ is the canonical inflaton (scalaron) field, calculate the corresponding $F(R)$ gravity functions in the two new cases, and find the restrictions on the deformation parameters in the lowest orders with respect to the variable $y$ that is physically small during slow-roll inflation.

Inflation with a quartic potential in the framework of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

We investigate inflationary dynamics in the framework of the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. In the model under consideration, the inflaton field is non-minimally coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet curvature invariant, so that the latter appears to be dynamically important. We consider a quartic potential for the inflaton field, in particular the one asymptotically connected to the Higgs inflation, and a wider class of coupling functions not considered in the earlier work. Keeping in mind the observational bounds on the parameters - the amplitude of scalar perturbations $A_s$, spectral index $n_s$ and tensor-to-scalar ratio $r$, we demonstrate that the model a quartic potential and the proposed coupling function is in agreement with observation.

Reconstruction Procedure for Nonlocal Gauss-Bonnet Models

We investigate the cosmological dynamics of nonlocally corrected gravity involving a function of the inverse d'Alembertian acting on the Gauss-Bonnet term. Casting the dynamical equations in local form, we derive the reconstruction procedure. We find conditions on the model parameters that are sufficient for the existence of de Sitter solutions and obtain these solutions explicitly.

Cosmological attractor inflation from the RG-improved Higgs sector of finite gauge theory

The possibility to construct an inflationary scenario for renormalization-group improved potentials corresponding to the Higgs sector of finite gauge models is investigated. Taking into account quantum corrections to the renormalization-group potential which sums all leading logs of perturbation theory is essential for a successful realization of the inflationary scenario, with very reasonable parameter values. The inflationary models thus obtained are seen to be in good agreement with the most recent and accurate observational data. More specifically, the values of the relevant inflationary parameters, $n_s$ and $r$, are close to the corresponding ones in the $R^2$ and Higgs-driven inflation scenarios. It is shown that the model here constructed and Higgs-driven inflation belong to the same class of cosmological attractors.

Transformations between Jordan and Einstein frames: Bounces, antigravity, and crossing singularities

We study the relation between the Jordan-Einstein frame transition and the possible description of the crossing of singularities in flat Friedmann universes, using the fact that the regular evolution in one frame can correspond to crossing singularities in the other frame. We show that some interesting effects arise in simple models such as one with a massless scalar field or another wherein the potential is constant in the Einstein frame. The dynamics in these models and in their conformally coupled counterparts are described in detail, and a method for the continuation of such cosmological evolutions beyond the singularity is developed. We compare our approach with some other, recently developed, approaches to the problem of the crossing of singularities.

Global stability analysis for cosmological models with non-minimally coupled scalar fields

We explore dynamics of cosmological models with a nonminimally coupled scalar field evolving on a spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker background. We consider cosmological models including the Hilbert-Einstein curvature term and the $N$ degree monomial of the scalar field nonminimally coupled to gravity. The potential of the scalar field is the $n$ degree monomial or polynomial. We describe several qualitatively different types of dynamics depending on values of power indices $N$ and $n$. We identify that three main possible pictures correspond to $n<N$, $N<n<2N$ and $n>2N$ cases. Some special features connected with the important cases of $N=n$ (including the quadratic potential with quadratic coupling) and $n=2N$ (which shares its asymptotics with the potential of the Higgs-driven inflation) are described separately. A global qualitative analysis allows us to cover the most interesting cases of small $N$ and $n$ by a limiting number of phase-space diagrams. The influence of the cosmological constant to the global features of dynamics is also studied.

Stable Exact Cosmological Solutions in Induced Gravity Models

We study dynamics of induced gravity cosmological models with sixth degree potential, that have found using the superpotential method. The important property of these models are existence of exact cosmological solutions that tend to fixed points. The stability of these cosmological solutions have been obtained. In particular, we find conditions under which solutions with a non-monotonic Hubble parameter that tend to a fixed point are attractors.

Cosmological Solutions of a Nonlocal Model with a Perfect Fluid

A nonlocal gravity model which does not assume the existence of a new dimensional parameter in the action and includes a function $f(\Box^{-1} R)$, with $\Box$ the d'Alembertian operator, is studied. By specifying an exponential form for the function f and including a matter sector with a constant equation of state parameter, all available power-law solutions in the Jordan frame are obtained. New power-law solutions in the Einstein frame are also probed. Furthermore, the relationship between power-law solutions in both frames, established through conformal transformation, is substantially clarified. The correspondence between power-law solutions in these two frames is proven to be a very useful tool in order to obtain new solutions in the Einstein frame.

Cosmological perturbations in SFT inspired non-local scalar field models

We study cosmological perturbations in models with a single non-local scalar field originating from the string field theory description of the rolling tachyon dynamics. We construct the equation for the energy density perturbations of the non-local scalar field and explicitly prove that for the free field it is identical to a system of local cosmological perturbation equations in a particular model with multiple (maybe infinitely many) local free scalar fields.

Gravitational models with non-local scalar fields

A general class of f(R) gravity models with minimally coupling a nonlocal scalar field is considered. The Ostrogradski representation for nonlocal gravitational models with a quadratic potential and the way of its localization are proposed. We study the action with an arbitrary analytic function $F(\Box)$, which has both simple and double roots. The way of localization allows to find particular solutions of nonlocal equations of gravity.

On bouncing solutions in non-local gravity

A non-local modified gravity model with an analytic function of the d'Alembert operator is considered. This model has been recently proposed as a possible way of resolving the singularities problem in cosmology. We present an exact bouncing solution, which is simpler compared to the already known one in this model in the sense it does not require an additional matter to satisfy all the gravitational equations.

Stable bounce and inflation in non-local higher derivative cosmology

One of the greatest problems of primordial inflation is that the inflationary space-time is past-incomplete. This is mainly because Einstein's GR suffers from a space-like Big Bang singularity. It has recently been shown that ghost-free, non-local higher-derivative ultra-violet modifications of Einstein's gravity may be able to resolve the cosmological Big Bang singularity via a non-singular bounce. Within the framework of such non-local cosmological models, we are going to study both sub- and super-Hubble perturbations around an inflationary trajectory which is preceded by the Big Bounce in the past, and demonstrate that the inflationary trajectory has an ultra-violet completion and that perturbations do not suffer from any pathologies.

Analysis of scalar perturbations in cosmological models with a non-local scalar field

We develop the cosmological perturbations formalism in models with a single non-local scalar field originating from the string field theory description of the rolling tachyon dynamics. We construct the equation for the energy density perturbations of the non-local scalar field in the presence of the arbitrary potential and formulate the local system of equations for perturbations in the linearized model when both simple and double roots of the characteristic equation are present. We carry out the general analysis related to the curvature and entropy perturbations and consider the most specific example of perturbations when important quantities in the model become complex.

Exact Solutions for Nonlocal Nonlinear Field Equations in Cosmology

A method for the search of exact solutions for equation of a nonlocal scalar field in a non-flat metric is considered. In the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric the proposed method can be used in the case of an arbitrary potential, with the exception of linear and quadratic potentials, and allows to get in quadratures solutions, which depend on two arbitrary parameters. Exact solutions have been found for an arbitrary cubic potential, which consideration is motivated by the string field theory, as well as for exponential, logarithmic and power potentials. It has been shown that one can add the k-essence field to the model to get exact solutions for all Einstein equations.

Localization of the SFT inspired Nonlocal Linear Models and Exact Solutions

A general class of gravitational models driven by a nonlocal scalar field with a linear or quadratic potential is considered. We study the action with an arbitrary analytic function $F(\Box)$, which has both simple and double roots. The way of localization of nonlocal Einstein equations is generalized on models with linear potentials. Exact solutions in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker and Bianchi I metrics are presented.

Localization of nonlocal cosmological models with quadratic potentials in the case of double roots

Nonlocal cosmological models with quadratic potentials are considered. We study the action with an arbitrary analytic function F(\Box_g), which has both double and simple roots. The formulae for nonlocal energy-momentum tensor, which correspond to double roots, have been obtained. The way to find particular solutions for nonlocal Einstein equations in the case when F(\Box_g) has both simple and double roots has been proposed. One and the same functions solve the initial nonlocal Einstein equations and the obtained local Einstein equations.

Stable Exact Solutions in Cosmological Models with Two Scalar Fields

The stability of isotropic cosmological solutions for two-field models in the Bianchi I metric is considered. We prove that the sufficient conditions for the Lyapunov stability in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric provide the stability with respect to anisotropic perturbations in the Bianchi I metric and with respect to the cold dark matter energy density fluctuations. Sufficient conditions for the Lyapunov stability of the isotropic fixed points of the system of the Einstein equations have been found. We use the superpotential method to construct stable kink-type solutions and obtain sufficient conditions on the superpotential for the Lyapunov stability of the corresponding exact solutions. We analyze the stability of isotropic kink-type solutions for string field theory inspired cosmological models.

Construction of Doubly Periodic Solutions via the Poincare-Lindstedt Method in the case of Massless Phi^4 Theory

Doubly periodic (periodic both in time and in space) solutions for the Lagrange-Euler equation of the (1+1)-dimensional scalar Phi^4 theory are considered. The nonlinear term is assumed to be small, and the Poincare-Lindstedt method is used to find asymptotic solutions in the standing wave form. The principal resonance problem, which arises for zero mass, is solved if the leading-order term is taken in the form of a Jacobi elliptic function. It have been proved that the choice of elliptic cosine with fixed value of module k (k=0.451075598811) as the leading-order term puts the principal resonance to zero and allows us constructed (with accuracy to third order of small parameter) the asymptotic solution in the standing wave form. To obtain this leading-order term the computer algebra system REDUCE have been used. We have appended the REDUCE program to this paper.
