Revisit on spectral geometric mean

In this paper we introduce the limit, unique solution of the nonlinear equations, geodesic property, tolerance relations and pinch on the spectral geometric mean for two positive definite operators. We show that the spectral geometric mean is a geodesic with respect to some semi-metric. We also prove that the tolerance relation on determinant one matrices can be characterized by the spectral geometric mean. Moreover, two positive tuples can be pinched by the spectral geometric mean.

Right mean for the $α-z$ Bures-Wasserstein quantum divergence

A new quantum divergence induced from the $α-z$ Renyi relative entropy, called the $α-z$ Bures-Wasserstein quantum divergence, has been recently introduced. We investigate in this paper properties of the right mean, which is a unique minimizer of the weighted sum of $α-z$ Bures-Wasserstein quantum divergences to each points. Many interesting operator inequalities of the right mean with the matrix power mean including the Cartan mean are presented. Moreover, we verify the trace inequality with the Wasserstein mean and provide bounds for the Hadamard product of two right means.

Mixture and interpolation of the parameterized ordered means

Loewner partial order plays a very important role in metric topology and operator inequality on the open convex cone of positive invertible operators. In this paper we consider a family G of the ordered means for positive invertible operators equipped with homogeneity and properties related to the Loewner partial order such as the monotonicity, joint concavity, and arithmetic-G-harmonic weighted mean inequalities. Similar to the resolvent average, we construct a parameterized ordered mean and compare two types of the mixture of parameterized ordered means in terms of the Loewner order. We also show the relation between two families of parameterized ordered means associated with the power mean, monotonically interpolating given two parameterized ordered means.

Operator inequalities and gyrolines of the weighted geometric means

We consider in this paper two different types of the weighted geometric means of positive definite operators. We show the component-wise bijection of these geometric means and give a geometric property of the spectral geometric mean as a metric midpoint. Moreover, several interesting inequalities related with the geometric means of positive definite operators will be shown. We also see the meaning of weighted geometric means in the gyrogroup structure with finite dimension and find the formulas of weighted geometric means of 2-by-2 positive definite matrices and density matrices.

Fidelity of Mobius matrices related with Lorentz boosts

In this article we consider the extended version of a real counterpart of qubit density matrices, called the Möbius matrix, and we see that it is a normalized Lorentz boost. Using the isomorphic gyrogroup structures between the set $\PP$ of all Lorentz boosts and the Einstein gyrogroup on the open unit ball $\B$ of $\R^n$ we give an explicit formula of the fidelity for Möbius matrices in terms of Lorentz gamma factors.

Parity Measurement is Sufficient for Phase Estimation at the Quantum Cramer-Rao Bound for Path-Symmetric States

In this letter, we show that for all the so-called path-symmetric states, the measurement of parity of photon number at the output of an optical interferometer achieves maximal phase sensitivity at the quantum Cramer-Rao bound. Such optimal phase sensitivity with parity is attained at a suitable bias phase, which can be determined a priori. Our scheme is applicable for local phase estimation.

Distances of qubit density matrices on Bloch sphere

We recall the Einstein velocity addition on the open unit ball $\B$ of $\R^{3}$ and its algebraic structure, called the Einstein gyrogroup. We establish an isomorphism between the Einstein gyrogroup on $\B$ and the set of all qubit density matrices representing mixed states endowed with an appropriate addition. Our main result establishes a relation between the trace metric for the qubit density matrices and the rapidity metric on the Einstein gyrogroup $\B$.

Site-specific Forest-assembly of Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes on Electron-beam Patterned SiOx/Si Substrates

Based on electron-beam direct writing on the SiOx/Si substrates, favorable absorption sites for ferric cations (Fe3+ ions) were created on the surface oxide layer. This allowed Fe3+-assisted self-assembled arrays of single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) probes to be produced. Auger investigation indicated that the incident energetic electrons depleted oxygen, creating more dangling bonds around Si atoms at the surface of the SiOx layer. This resulted in a distinct difference in the friction forces from unexposed regions as measured by lateral force microscopy (LFM). Atomic force microscopy (AFM) affirmed that the irradiated domains absorbed considerably more Fe3+ ions upon immersion into pH 2.2 aqueous FeCl3 solution. This rendered a greater yield of FeO(OH)/FeOCl precipitates, primarily FeO(OH), upon subsequent washing with lightly basic dimethylformamide (DMF) solution. Such selective metalfunctionalization established the basis for the subsequent patterned forest-assembly of SWNTs as demonstrated by resonance Raman spectroscopy.
