A-phase origin in B20 helimagnets

A-phase origin in cubic helimagnets ($M n S i,F e G e$ etc) is explained. It is shown that its upper bound is a result of the spin-wave instability at $H_\perp>\sqrt{8/3}Δ=H_{A2}$ where $H_\perp$ are the magnetic field perpendicular to the helix axis $\m k$ and $Δ$ the spin-wave gap respectively. The last appears due to the spin-wave interaction if one takes into account that the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction acts between different spins. The infra-red divergences (IRD) in the 1/S series for the magnetic energy at $H_\perp\to H_{A2}$ are responsible for the lower A-phase boundary $H_{A1}$. It is shown that the A-phase exists at all $T<T_C$ but if $T\ll T_C$ it is very narrow and can not be observed. However in the critical region just below $T_C$ its width increasing strongly. Preliminary estimations demonstrate semi-quantitative agreement with the existing experimental data. The existence of the spin-wave gap is a crucial point of our consideration. In Appendix A we present its derivation in more transparent form than in previous publication.

Chiral criticality in doped Mn$_{1-y}$Fe$_y$Si compounds

The critical spin fluctuations in doped compounds Mn$_{1-y}$Fe$_y$Si have been studied by means of ac-susceptibility measurements, polarized neutron small angle scattering and spin echo spectroscopy. It is shown that these compounds undergo the transition from the paramagnetic to helimagnetic phase through continuous, yet well distinguishable crossovers: (i) from paramagnetic to partially chiral, (ii) from partially chiral to highly chiral fluctuating state. The crossover points are identified on the basis of combined analysis of the temperature dependence of ac-susceptibility and polarized SANS data. The whole transition is marked by two inflection point of the temperature dependence of ac-susceptibility: the upper one corresponds to the crossover to partially chiral state at $T^*$, where the inverse correlation length $κ\approx 2 k$, the lower one corresponds to the transition to the spin helix structure. The intermediate crossover to the highly chiral phase is observed at the inflection point $T_k$ of the first derivative of ac-susceptibility, where $κ\approx k$. The temperature crossovers to the highly chiral fluctuating state is associated with the enhancing influence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moria interaction close to $T_c$.

RKKY interaction in the nearly-nested Fermi liquid

We present the results of analytical evaluation of the indirect RKKY interaction in a layered metal with nearly nested (almost squared) Fermi surface. The final expressions are obtained in closed form as a combination of Bessel functions. We discuss the notion of the ``2k_F'' oscillations and show that they occur as the far asymptote of our expressions. We show the existence of the intermediate asymptote of the interaction which is of the sign-reversal antiferromagnetic type and is the only term surviving in the limit of exact nesting. A good accordance of our analytical formulas with numerical findings is demonstrated until the interatomic distances. The obtained expressions for the Green's functions extend the previous analytical results into the region of intermediate distances as well.
