Generalizations of Snyder model to curved spaces

We consider generalizations of the Snyder algebra to a curved spacetime background with de Sitter symmetry. As special cases, we obtain the algebras of the Yang model and of triply special relativity. We discuss the realizations of these algebras in terms of canonical phase space coordinates, up to fourth order in the deformation parameters. In the case of triply special relativity we also find exact realization, exploiting its algebraic relation with the Snyder model.

Quantum mechanics of the extended Snyder model

We investigate a quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator based on the extended Snyder model. This realization of the Snyder model is constructed as a quantum phase space generated by $D$ spatial coordinates and $D(D-1)/2$ tensorial degrees of freedom, together with their conjugate momenta. The \coo obey nontrivial \cor and generate a noncommutative geometry, which admits nicer properties than the usual realization of the model, in particular giving rise to an associative star product. The spectrum of the harmonic oscillator is studied through the introduction of creation and annihilation operators. Some physical consequences of the introduction of the additional degrees of freedom are discussed.

Unification of $κ$-Minkowski and extended Snyder spaces

In a recent paper, we have studied associative realizations of the noncommutative extended Snyder model, obtained by including the Lorentz generators (tensorial coordinates) and their conjugated momenta. In this paper, we extend this result to also incorporate a covariant realization of the $κ$-Poincaré spacetime. We obtain the coproduct, the associative star product and the twist in a Weyl-ordered realization, to first order in the noncommutativity parameters. This could help the construction of a quantum field theory based on this geometry.

Associative realizations of the extended Snyder model

The star product usually associated to the Snyder model of noncommutative geometry is nonassociative, and this property prevents the construction of a proper Hopf algebra. It is however possible to introduce a well-defined Hopf algebra by including the Lorentz generators and their conjugate momenta into the algebra. In this paper, we study the realizations of this extended Snyder spacetime, and obtain the coproduct and twist and the associative star product in a Weyl-ordered realization, to first order in the noncommutativity parameter. We then extend our results to the most general realizations of the extended Snyder spacetime, always up to first order.

Classical dynamics on curved Snyder space

We study the classical dynamics of a particle in nonrelativistic Snyder-de Sitter space. We show that for spherically symmetric systems, parametrizing the solutions in terms of an auxiliary time variable, which is a function only of the physical time and of the energy and angular momentum of the particles, one can reduce the problem to the equivalent one in classical mechanics. We also discuss a relativistic extension of these results, and a generalization to the case in which the algebra is realized in flat space.

Generalized Poincare algebras, Hopf algebras and kappa-Minkowski spacetime

We propose a generalized description for the kappa-Poincare-Hopf algebra as a symmetry quantum group of underlying kappa-Minkowski spacetime. We investigate all the possible implementations of (deformed) Lorentz algebras which are compatible with the given choice of kappa-Minkowski algebra realization. For the given realization of kappa-Minkowski spacetime there is a unique kappa-Poincare-Hopf algebra with undeformed Lorentz algebra. We have constructed a three-parameter family of deformed Lorentz generators with kappa-Poincare algebras which are related to kappa-Poincare-Hopf algebra with undeformed Lorentz algebra. Known bases of kappa-Poincare-Hopf algebra are obtained as special cases. Also deformation of igl(4) Hopf algebra compatible with the kappa-Minkowski spacetime is presented. Some physical applications are briefly discussed.

Geodesic equation in $k$-Minkowski spacetime

In this paper, we derive corrections to the geodesic equation due to the $k$-deformation of curved space-time, up to the first order in the deformation parameter a. This is done by generalizing the method from our previous paper [31], to include curvature effects. We show that the effect of $k$-noncommutativity can be interpreted as an extra drag that acts on the particle while moving in this $k$-deformed curved space. We have derived the Newtonian limit of the geodesic equation and using this, we discuss possible bounds on the deformation parameter. We also derive the generalized uncertainty relations valid in the non-relativistic limit of the $k$-space-time.

Electrodynamics on $κ$-Minkowski space-time

In this paper, we derive Lorentz force and Maxwell's equations on kappa-Minkowski space-time up to the first order in the deformation parameter. This is done by elevating the principle of minimal coupling to non-commutative space-time. We also show the equivalence of minimal coupling prescription and Feynman's approach. It is shown that the motion in kappa space-time can be interpreted as motion in a background gravitational field, which is induced by this non-commutativity. In the static limit, the effect of kappa deformation is to scale the electric charge. We also show that the laws of electrodynamics depend on the mass of the charged particle, in kappa space-time.

Scalar field propagation in the phi^4 kappa-Minkowski model

In this article we use the noncommutative (NC) kappa-Minkowski phi^4 model based on the kappa-deformed star product, ({*}_h). The action is modified by expanding up to linear order in the kappa-deformation parameter a, producing an effective model on commutative spacetime. For the computation of the tadpole diagram contributions to the scalar field propagation/self-energy, we anticipate that statistics on the kappa-Minkowski is specifically kappa-deformed. Thus our prescription in fact represents hybrid approach between standard quantum field theory (QFT) and NCQFT on the kappa-deformed Minkowski spacetime, resulting in a kappa-effective model. The propagation is analyzed in the framework of the two-point Green's function for low, intermediate, and for the Planckian propagation energies, respectively. Semiclassical/hybrid behavior of the first order quantum correction do show up due to the kappa-deformed momentum conservation law. For low energies, the dependence of the tadpole contribution on the deformation parameter a drops out completely, while for Planckian energies, it tends to a fixed finite value. The mass term of the scalar field is shifted and these shifts are very different at different propagation energies. At the Planckian energies we obtain the direction dependent kappa-modified dispersion relations. Thus our kappa-effective model for the massive scalar field shows a birefringence effect.

Constraints on the quantum gravity scale from kappa - Minkowski spacetime

We compare two versions of deformed dispersion relations (energy vs momenta and momenta vs energy) and the corresponding time delay up to the second order accuracy in the quantum gravity scale (deformation parameter). A general framework describing modified dispersion relations and time delay with respect to different noncommutative kappa -Minkowski spacetime realizations is firstly proposed here and it covers all the cases introduced in the literature. It is shown that some of the realizations provide certain bounds on quadratic corrections, i.e. on quantum gravity scale, but it is not excluded in our framework that quantum gravity scale is the Planck scale. We also show how the coefficients in the dispersion relations can be obtained through a multiparameter fit of the gamma ray burst (GRB) data.

Fluctuations around Periodic BPS-Density Waves in the Calogero Model

The collective field formulation of the Calogero model supports periodic density waves. An important set of such density waves is a two-parameter family of BPS solutions of the equations of motion of the collective field theory. One of these parameters is essentially the average particle density, which determines the period, while the other parameter determines the amplitude. These BPS solutions are sometimes referred to as "small amplitude waves" since they undulate around their mean density, but never vanish. We present complete analysis of quadratic fluctuations around these BPS solutions. The corresponding fluctuation hamiltonian (i.e., the stability operator) is diagonalized in terms of bosonic creation and annihilation operators which correspond to the complete orthogonal set of Bloch-Floquet eigenstates of a related periodic Schrödinger hamiltonian, which we derive explicitly. Remarkably, the fluctuation spectrum is independent of the parameter which determines the density wave's amplitude. As a consequence, the sum over zero-point energies of the field-theoretic fluctuation hamiltonian, and its ensuing normal-ordering and regularization, are the same as in the case of fluctuations around constant density background, namely, the ground state. Thus, quadratic fluctuations do not shift the energy density tied with the BPS-density waves studied here, compared to its ground state value. Finally, we also make some brief remarks concerning fluctuations around non-BPS density waves

Waves and Solitons in the Calogero Model - Revisited

The Calogero model bears, in the continuum limit, collective excitations in the form of density waves and solitary modulations of the density of particles. This sector of the spectrum of the model was investigated, mostly within the framework of collective field theory, by several authors, over the past fifteen years or so. In this work we shall concentrate on periodic solutions of the collective BPS-equation (also known as "finite amplitude density waves"), as well as on periodic solutions of the full static variational equations which vanish periodically (also known as "large amplitude density waves"). While these solutions are not new, we feel that our analysis and presentation add to the existing literature, as we explain in the text. In addition, we show that these solutions also occur in a certain two-family generalization of the Calogero model, at special points in parameter space. A compendium of useful identities associated with Hilbert transforms, including our own proofs of these identities, appears in Appendix A. In Appendix B we also elucidate in the present paper some fine points having to do with manipulating Hilbert transforms, which appear ubiquitously in the collective field formalism. Finally, in order to make this paper self-contained, we briefly summarize in Appendix C basic facts about the collective field formulation of the Calogero model.

Kappa-deformed Snyder spacetime

We present Lie-algebraic deformations of Minkowski space with undeformed Poincare algebra. These deformations interpolate between Snyder and kappa-Minkowski space. We find realizations of noncommutative coordinates in terms of commutative coordinates and derivatives. Deformed Leibniz rule, the coproduct structure and star product are found. Special cases, particularly Snyder and kappa-Minkowski in Maggiore-type realizations are discussed. Our construction leads to a new class of deformed special relativity theories.

Generalized kappa-deformed spaces, star-products, and their realizations

In this work we investigate generalized kappa-deformed spaces. We develop a systematic method for constructing realizations of noncommutative (NC) coordinates as formal power series in the Weyl algebra. All realizations are related by a group of similarity transformations, and to each realization we associate a unique ordering prescription. Generalized derivatives, the Leibniz rule and coproduct, as well as the star-product are found in all realizations. The star-product and Drinfel'd twist operator are given in terms of the coproduct, and the twist operator is derived explicitly in special realizations. The theory is applied to a Nappi-Witten type of NC space.

Inequivalent quantization of the rational Calogero model with a Coulomb type interaction

We consider the inequivalent quantizations of a $N$-body rational Calogero model with a Coulomb type interaction. It is shown that for certain range of the coupling constants, this system admits a one-parameter family of self-adjoint extensions. We analyze both the bound and scattering state sectors and find novel solutions of this model. We also find the ladder operators for this system, with which the previously known solutions can be constructed.

Matrix oscillator and Laughlin Hall states

We propose a quantum matrix oscillator as a model that provides the construction of the quantum Hall states in a direct way. A connection of this model to the regularized matrix model introduced by Polychronakos is established . By transferring the consideration to the Bargmann representation with the help of a particular similarity transformation, we show that the quantum matrix oscillator describes the quantum mechanics of electrons in the lowest Landau level with the ground state described by the Laughlin-type wave function. The equivalence with the Calogero model in one dimension is emphasized. It is shown that the quantum matrix oscillator and the finite matrix Chern-Simons model have the same spectrum on the singlet state sector.

A multispecies Calogero model

We study a multispecies one-dimensional Calogero model with two- and three-body interactions. Using an algebraic approach (Fock space analysis), we construct ladder operators and find infinitely many, but not all, exact eigenstates of the model Hamiltonian. Besides the ground state energy, we deduce energies of the excited states. It turns out that the spectrum is linear in quantum numbers and that the higher-energy levels are degenerate. The dynamical symmetry responsible for degeneracy is SU(2). We also find the universal critical point at which the model exhibits singular behaviour. Finally, we make contact with some special cases mentioned in the literature.

Permutation Invariant Algebras, a Fock Space Realization and the Calogero Model

We study permutation invariant oscillator algebras and their Fock space representations using three equivalent techniques, i.e. (i) a normally ordered expansion in creation and annihilation operators, (ii) the action of annihilation operators on monomial states in Fock space and (iii) Gram matrices of inner products in Fock space. We separately discuss permutation invariant algebras which possess hermitean number operators and permutation invariant algebras which possess non-hermitean number operators. The results of a general analysis are applied to the S_M extended Heisenberg algebra, underlying the M-body Calogero model. Particular attention is devoted to the analysis of Gram matrices for the Calogero model. We discuss their structure, eigenvalues and eigenstates. We obtain a general condition for positivity of eigenvalues, meaning that all norms of states in Fock space are positive if this condition is satisfied. We find a universal critical point at which the reduction of the physical degrees of freedom occurs. We construct dual operators, leading to the ordinary Heisenberg algebra of free Bose oscillators. From the Fock-space point of view, we briefly discuss the existence of mapping from the Calogero oscillators to the free Bose oscillators and vice versa.
