Coherent span-valued 2D TQFTs

We consider commutative Frobenius pseudomonoids in the bicategory of spans, and we show that they are in correspondence with 2-Segal cosymmetric sets. Such a structure can be interpreted as a coherent 2-dimensional topological quantum field theory taking values in the bicategory of spans. We also describe a construction that produces a 2-Segal cosymmetric set from any partial monoid equipped with a distinguished element.

On Examples and Classification of Frobenius Objects in Rel

We give some new examples of Frobenius objects in the category of sets and relations $\textbf{Rel}$. One example is a groupoid with a twisted counit. Another example is the set of conjugacy classes of a group. We also classify Frobenius objects in $\textbf{Rel}$ with two or three elements, and we compute the associated surface invariants using the partition functions of the corresponding TQFTs.

Modules and representations up to homotopy of Lie $n$-algebroids

This paper studies differential graded modules and representations up to homotopy of Lie $n$-algebroids, for general $n\in\mathbb{N}$. The adjoint and coadjoint modules are described, and the corresponding split versions of the adjoint and coadjoint representations up to homotopy are explained. In particular, the case of Lie 2-algebroids is analysed in detail. The compatibility of a Poisson bracket with the homological vector field of a Lie $n$-algebroid is shown to be equivalent to a morphism from the coadjoint module to the adjoint module, leading to an alternative characterisation of non-degeneracy of higher Poisson structures. Moreover, the Weil algebra of a Lie $n$-algebroid is computed explicitly in terms of splittings, and representations up to homotopy of Lie $n$-algebroids are used to encode decomposed VB-Lie $n$-algebroid structures on double vector bundles.

Constant Symplectic 2-groupoids

We propose a definition of symplectic 2-groupoid which includes integrations of Courant algebroids that have been recently constructed. We study in detail the simple but illustrative case of constant symplectic 2-groupoids. We show that the constant symplectic 2-groupoids are, up to equivalence, in one-to-one correspondence with a simple class of Courant algebroids that we call constant Courant algebroids. Furthermore, we find a correspondence between certain Dirac structures and Lagrangian sub-2-groupoids.

The Atiyah class of a dg-vector bundle

We introduce the notions of Atiyah class and Todd class of a differential graded vector bundle with respect to a differential graded Lie algebroid. We prove that the space of vector fields on a dg-manifold with homological vector field $Q$ admits a structure of L-infinity algebra with the Lie derivative $L_Q$ as unary bracket, and the Atiyah cocycle corresponding to a torsion-free affine connection as binary bracket.

Lie algebroid modules and representations up to homotopy

We establish a relationship between two different generalizations of Lie algebroid representations: representation up to homotopy and Vaintrob's Lie algebroid modules. Specifically, we show that there is a noncanonical way to obtain a representation up to homotopy from a given Lie algebroid module, and that any two representations up to homotopy obtained in this way are equivalent in a natural sense. We therefore obtain a one-to-one correspondence, up to equivalence.

Differential graded contact geometry and Jacobi structures

We study contact structures on nonnegatively-graded manifolds equipped with homological contact vector fields. In the degree 1 case, we show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between such structures (with fixed contact form) and Jacobi manifolds. This correspondence allows us to reinterpret the Poissonization procedure, taking Jacobi manifolds to Poisson manifolds, as a supergeometric version of symplectization.

Symplectic structures on the integration of exact Courant algebroids

We construct an infinite-dimensional symplectic 2-groupoid as the integration of an exact Courant algebroid. We show that every integrable Dirac structure integrates to a "Lagrangian" sub-2-groupoid of this symplectic 2-groupoid. As a corollary, we recover a result of Bursztyn-Crainic-Weinstein-Zhu that every integrable Dirac structure integrates to a presymplectic groupoid.

Lie algebroid structures on double vector bundles and representation theory of Lie algebroids

A VB-algebroid is essentially defined as a Lie algebroid object in the category of vector bundles. There is a one-to-one correspondence between VB-algebroids and certain flat Lie algebroid superconnections, up to a natural notion of equivalence. In this setting, we are able to construct characteristic classes, which in special cases reproduce characteristic classes constructed by Crainic and Fernandes. We give a complete classification of regular VB-algebroids, and in the process we obtain another characteristic class of Lie algebroids that does not appear in the ordinary representation theory of Lie algebroids.

Q-groupoids and their cohomology

We approach Mackenzie's LA-groupoids from a supergeometric point of view by introducing Q-groupoids, which are groupoid objects in the category of Q-manifolds. There is a faithful functor from the category of LA-groupoids to the category of Q-groupoids. We associate to every Q-groupoid a double complex that provides a model for the Q-cohomology of the classifying space. As examples, we obtain models for equivariant Q- and orbifold Q-cohomology, and for equivariant Lie algebroid and orbifold Lie algebroid cohomology. We obtain double complexes associated to Poisson groupoids and groupoid-algebroid "matched pairs".

Q-algebroids and their cohomology

A Q-algebroid is a Lie superalgebroid equipped with a compatible homological vector field and is the infinitesimal object corresponding to a Q-groupoid. We associate to every Q-algebroid a double complex. As a special case, we define the BRST model of a Lie algebroid, which generalizes the BRST model for equivariant cohomology. We extend to this setting the Mathai-Quillen-Kalkman isomorphism of the BRST and Weil models, and we suggest a definition of a basic subcomplex which, however, requires a choice of a connection. Other examples include Roytenberg's homological double of a Lie bialgebroid, Ginzburg's model of equivariant Lie algebroid cohomology, the double of a Lie algebroid matched pair, and Q-algebroids arising from lifted actions on Courant algebroids.
