Laplace and Dirac Operators on Graphs

Discrete versions of the Laplace and Dirac operators haven been studied in the context of combinatorial models of statistical mechanics and quantum field theory. In this paper we introduce several variations of the Laplace and Dirac operators on graphs, and we investigate graph-theoretic versions of the Schrödinger and Dirac equation. We provide a combinatorial interpretation for solutions of the equations and we prove gluing identities for the Dirac operator on lattice graphs, as well as for graph Clifford algebras.

On discrete gradient vector fields and Laplacians of simplicial complexes

Discrete Morse theory, a cell complex-analog to smooth Morse theory, has been developed over the past few decades since its original formulation by Robin Forman in 1998. In particular, discrete gradient vector fields on simplicial complexes capture important features of discrete Morse functions. We prove that the characteristic polynomials of the Laplacian matrices of a simplicial complex are generating functions for discrete gradient vector fields of discrete Morse functions when the complex is either a graph or a triangulation of an orientable manifold. Furthermore, we provide a full characterization of the correspondence between rooted forests in higher dimensions and discrete gradient vector fields.

On Examples and Classification of Frobenius Objects in Rel

We give some new examples of Frobenius objects in the category of sets and relations $\textbf{Rel}$. One example is a groupoid with a twisted counit. Another example is the set of conjugacy classes of a group. We also classify Frobenius objects in $\textbf{Rel}$ with two or three elements, and we compute the associated surface invariants using the partition functions of the corresponding TQFTs.

Graph de Rham Cohomology and the Automorphsim Group

We introduce a graph-theoretical interpretation of an induced action of Aut$(Γ)$ in the discrete de Rham cohomology of a finite graph $Γ$. This action produces a splitting of Aut$(Γ)$ that depends on the cycles of $Γ$. We also prove some graph-theoretical analogues of standard results in differential geometry, in particular, a graph version of Stokes' Theorem and the Mayer-Vietoris sequence in cohomology.

Geometric Quantization and Epistemically Restricted Theories: The Continuous Case

It is possible to reproduce the quantum features of quantum states, starting from a classical statistical theory and then limiting the amount of knowledge that an agent can have about an individual system [5, 18].These are so called epistemic restrictions. Such restrictions have been recently formulated in terms of the symplectic geometry of the corresponding classical theory [19]. The purpose of this note is to describe, using this symplectic framework, how to obtain a C*-algebraic formulation for the epistemically restricted theories. In the case of continuous variables, following the groupoid quantization recipe of E. Hawkins, we obtain a twisted group C*-algebra which is the usual Moyal quantization of a Poisson vector space [12].

On the geometry of mixed states and the Fisher information tensor

In this paper, we will review the co-adjoint orbit formulation of finite dimensional quantum mechanics, and in this framework, we will interpret the notion of quantum Fisher information index (and metric). Following previous work of part of the authors, who introduced the definition of Fisher information tensor, we will show how its antisymmetric part is the pullback of the natural Kostant-Kirillov-Souriau symplectic form along some natural diffeomorphism. In order to do this, we will need to understand the symmetric logarithmic derivative as a proper 1-form, settling the issues about its very definition and explicit computation. Moreover, the fibration of co-adjoint orbits, seen as spaces of mixed states, is also discussed.

Groupoids, Frobenius algebras and Poisson sigma models

In this paper we discuss some connections between groupoids and Frobenius algebras specialized in the case of Poisson sigma models with boundary. We prove a correspondence between groupoids in the category Set and relative Frobenius algebras in the category Rel, as well as an adjunction between a special type of semigroupoids and relative H*-algebras. The connection between groupoids and Frobenius algebras is made explicit by introducing what we called weak monoids and relational symplectic groupoids, in the context of Poisson sigma models with boundary and in particular, describing such structures in the ex- tended symplectic category and the category of Hilbert spaces. This is part of a joint work with Alberto Cattaneo and Chris Heunen.

Relational symplectic groupoids and Poisson sigma models with boundary

We introduce the notion of relational symplectic groupoid as a way to integrate Poisson manifolds in general, following the construction through the Poisson sigma model (PSM) given by Cattaneo and Felder. We extend such construction to the infinite dimensional setting, where we are able to describe the relational symplectic groupoid in terms of immersed Lagrangian Bannach submanifolds. This corresponds to a groupoid object in the "extended symplectic category" and it can be related to the ususal version of symplectic groupoids via reduction. We prove the existence of such an object for any Poisson manifold and the uniqueness of a compatible Poisson structure on the base, for a special type of relational symplectic groupoids. We develop the notion of equivalence, that allows us to compare finite and infinite dimensional examples. We discuss some other extensions to different categories, where the relational construction still make sense, in an effort to understand better geometric quantization of symplectic manifolds in this new perspective.
