MealRec: A Meal Recommendation Dataset

Bundle recommendation systems aim to recommend a bundle of items for a user to consider as a whole. They have become a norm in modern life and have been applied to many real-world settings, such as product bundle recommendation, music playlist recommendation and travel package recommendation. However, compared to studies of bundle recommendation approaches in areas such as online shopping and digital music services, research on meal recommendations for restaurants in the hospitality industry has made limited progress, due largely to the lack of high-quality benchmark datasets. A publicly available dataset specialising in meal recommendation research for the research community is in urgent demand. In this paper, we introduce a meal recommendation dataset (MealRec) that aims to facilitate future research. MealRec is constructed from the user review records of Allrecipe.com, covering 1,500+ users, 7,200+ recipes and 3,800+ meals. Each recipe is described with rich information, such as ingredients, instructions, pictures, category and tags, etc; and each meal is three-course, consisting of an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert. Furthermore, we propose a category-constrained meal recommendation model that is evaluated through comparative experiments with several state-of-the-art bundle recommendation methods on MealRec. Experimental results confirm the superiority of our model and demonstrate that MealRec is a promising testbed for meal recommendation related research. The MealRec dataset and the source code of our proposed model are available at https://github.com/WUT-IDEA/MealRec for access and reproducibility.

The expected values, variances and limiting distributions of Gutman index, Schultz index, multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index and additive degree-Kirchhoff index for a class of random chain networks

There has been an upsurge of research on complex networks in recent years. The purpose of this paper is to study the mathematical properties of the random chain networks PGn with the help of graph theory. We first solve the expected value expressions of the Gutman index, Schultz index, multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index and additive degree-Kirchhoff index, and then we get the explicit expression formulas of their variances. Finally, we find that their limiting distributions all have the probabilistic and statistical significance of normal distribution.

What is Next when Sequential Prediction Meets Implicitly Hard Interaction?

Hard interaction learning between source sequences and their next targets is challenging, which exists in a myriad of sequential prediction tasks. During the training process, most existing methods focus on explicitly hard interactions caused by wrong responses. However, a model might conduct correct responses by capturing a subset of learnable patterns, which results in implicitly hard interactions with some unlearned patterns. As such, its generalization performance is weakened. The problem gets more serious in sequential prediction due to the interference of substantial similar candidate targets. To this end, we propose a Hardness Aware Interaction Learning framework (HAIL) that mainly consists of two base sequential learning networks and mutual exclusivity distillation (MED). The base networks are initialized differently to learn distinctive view patterns, thus gaining different training experiences. The experiences in the form of the unlikelihood of correct responses are drawn from each other by MED, which provides mutual exclusivity knowledge to figure out implicitly hard interactions. Moreover, we deduce that the unlikelihood essentially introduces additional gradients to push the pattern learning of correct responses. Our framework can be easily extended to more peer base networks. Evaluation is conducted on four datasets covering cyber and physical spaces. The experimental results demonstrate that our framework outperforms several state-of-the-art methods in terms of top-k based metrics.

New types of topological superconductors under local magnetic symmetries

We classify gapped topological superconducting (TSC) phases of one-dimensional quantum wires with local magnetic symmetries (LMSs), in which the time-reversal symmetry $\mathcal{T}$ is broken but its combinations with certain crystalline symmetry such as $M_x \mathcal{T}$, $C_{2z} \mathcal{T}$, $C_{4z}\mathcal{T}$, and $C_{6z}\mathcal{T}$ are preserved. Our results demonstrate that an equivalent BDI class TSC can be realized in the $M_x \mathcal{T}$ or $C_{2z} \mathcal{T}$ superconducting wire, which is characterized by a chiral $Z^c$ invariant. More interestingly, we also find two types of totally new TSC phases in the $C_{4z}\mathcal{T}$, and $C_{6z}\mathcal{T}$ superconducing wires, which are beyond the known AZ class, and are characterized by a helical $Z^h$ invariant and $Z^h\oplus Z^c$ invariants, respectively. In the $Z^h$ TSC phase, $Z$-pairs of MZMs are protected at each end. In the $C_{6z}\mathcal{T}$ case, the MZMs can be either chiral or helical, and even helical-chiral coexisting. The minimal models preserving $C_{4z}\mathcal{T}$ or $C_{6z}\mathcal{T}$ symmetry are presented to illustrate their novel TSC properties and MZMs.

Phononic Weyl Nodal Straight Lines in High-Temperature Superconductor MgB$_2$

Based on first-principles calculations, we predict that the superconducting MgB$_2$ with a AlB$_2$-type centrosymmetric lattice host the so-called phononic topological Weyl nodal lines (PTWNLs) on its bulk phonon spectrum. These PTWNLs can be viewed as countless Weyl points (WPs) closely aligned along the straight lines in the $-$H-K-H direction within the three-dimensional Brillouin zone (BZ). Their topological non-trivial natures are confirmed by the calculated Berry curvature distributions on the planes perpendicular to these lines. These lines are highly unique, because they exactly locate at the high-symmetry boundary of the BZ protected by the mirror symmetry and, simultaneously, straightly transverse the whole BZ, in different from known classifications including nodal rings, nodal chains or nets, and nodal loops. On the (10$\bar{1}$0) crystal surface, the PTWNLs-induced drumhead-like non-trivial surface states appear within the rectangular area confined by the projected lines of the PTWNLs with opposite chirality. Moreover, when the mirror symmetry is broken, the double-degenerate PTWNLs are further lifted to form a pair WPs with opposite chirality. Our results pave the ways for future experimental study on topological phonons on MgB$_2$ and highlights similar results in a series of isostructural AlB$_2$-type metallic diborides.

Magnetic ordering and multiferroicity in MnI$_2$

Density-functional calculations are carried out to investigate incommensurate magnetic structures and ferroelectric polarization in newly discovered multiferroic material MnI$_2$. The exchange interactions among local moments on Mn are parameterized by mapping the mean-field Heisenberg model on to total energy difference of several magnetic ordering states. The experimentally observed noncollinear magnetic states are well reproduced by using this model and exchange interaction parameters. The direction of polarization experimentally measured is also consistent with the result derived from the symmetry analysis of the magnetically ordered state. In particular, we find that the inter-plane magnetic exchange coupling is pivotal to the emergence of the spiral magnetic structure. This noncollinear magnetic structure, combined with spin-orbit coupling mainly from I ions, is responsible for the appearance of ferroelectric polarization.

Testing quantum entanglement with local measurement

We propose to detect quantum entanglement by a condition of local measurments. We find that this condition can detect efficiently the pure entangled states for both discrete and continuous variable systems. It does not depend on interference of decoherence from noise and detection loss in some systems, which allows a loophole-free test in real experiments. In particular, it is a necessary condition for the violation of some generalized Bell inequalities.
