Study of $CP$ violation in $Λ_b^0/Ξ^-_b\rightarrow Λ(1520)M$ decays with the final-state rescattering mechanism

Recently, the LHCb collaboration reported the first observation of $CP$ violation in baryon decays, with a significance of more than $5σ$. This strongly motivates us to investigate the $CP$ violation in more baryon decay processes. In this work, we employ the final-state rescattering mechanism with introducing two model parameters, $Λ_{charm}$ and $Λ_{charmless}$, and calculate two-body non-leptonic baryon decays $Λ^0_b \rightarrow Λ(1520)\,π^0/κ(700)/f_0(500, 980)/ρ^0/K^{*0}/ϕ$ and $Ξ^-_b \rightarrow Λ(1520)\,K^-$. Consequently, we evaluate the corresponding branching ratios, $CP$ asymmetries, and interference effects between different decay amplitudes. Our theoretical predictions for certain decay channels are in good agreement with current experimental measurements, while the remaining processes--particularly the remarkably large $CP$ violation observable revealed by the kinematic analysis are expected to be tested in future experiments.

Study of $CP$ violation in $Λ_b^0\rightarrow N^*M$ decays with the final-state rescattering mechanism

In this work, we investigate the charmless non-leptonic two-body $Λ_b$ decays within the framework of final-state rescattering mechanism. In contrast to the Cutkosky cutting method, we compute both the absorptive and dispersive parts of the hadronic rescattering triangle diagrams. Based on the established formalism, we analyze the $Λ_b \to N^*(1535,1520)M$ decay processes with $M =K_S, K^*_0(700)$, $f_0(500,980), ρ(770), \bar{K}^{*0}$, $ϕ$, and predict various physical observables, such as their branching ratios, direct and partial-wave $CP$ asymmetries, as well as decay asymmetry parameters. These two-body decay processes are expected to contribute primarily to the subsequent four-body decay channels, such as $Λ_b^0 \to p\,π^-\,π^+\,π^-$, whose $CP$ asymmetry measurements will be accessible at the LHCb experiment.

Deciphering the long-distance penguin contribution to $\bar B_{d, s} \to γγ$ decays

We compute for the first time the long-distance penguin contribution to the double radiative $B$-meson decays due to the purely hadronic operators acting with the electromagnetic current in the background soft-gluon field from first field-theoretical principles by introducing a novel subleading $B$-meson distribution amplitude. The numerically dominant penguin amplitude arises from the soft-gluon radiation off the light up-quark loop rather than the counterpart charm-loop effect on account of the peculiar analytical behaviour of the short-distance hard-collinear function. Importantly the long-distance up-quark penguin contribution brings about the substantial cancellation of the known factorizable power correction possessing the same multiplication CKM parameters, thus enabling $B_{d, \, s} \to γγ$ to become new benchmark probes of physics beyond the Standard Model.

Domain Shift-oriented Machine Anomalous Sound Detection Model Based on Self-Supervised Learning

Thanks to the development of deep learning, research on machine anomalous sound detection based on self-supervised learning has made remarkable achievements. However, there are differences in the acoustic characteristics of the test set and the training set under different operating conditions of the same machine (domain shifts). It is challenging for the existing detection methods to learn the domain shifts features stably with low computation overhead. To address these problems, we propose a domain shift-oriented machine anomalous sound detection model based on self-supervised learning (TranSelf-DyGCN) in this paper. Firstly, we design a time-frequency domain feature modeling network to capture global and local spatial and time-domain features, thus improving the stability of machine anomalous sound detection stability under domain shifts. Then, we adopt a Dynamic Graph Convolutional Network (DyGCN) to model the inter-dependence relationship between domain shifts features, enabling the model to perceive domain shifts features efficiently. Finally, we use a Domain Adaptive Network (DAN) to compensate for the performance decrease caused by domain shifts, making the model adapt to anomalous sound better in the self-supervised environment. The performance of the suggested model is validated on DCASE 2020 task 2 and DCASE 2022 task 2.

Inclusive approach to hunt for the beauty-charmed baryons $Ξ_{bc}$

With a distinctive internal structure from all established hadrons, the beauty-charmed baryons $Ξ_{bc}$ can provide us with new points of view to decipher the strong interaction. In this work, we point out that the inclusive $Ξ_{bc} \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}+X$ decay is a golden channel for the experimental discovery of $Ξ_{bc}$ at the LHC. A unique feature of this process is that the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ is displaced, which greatly reduces the combinatorial background. A feasibility analysis is performed on the $Ξ_{bc}^+$ search, which is expected to have a longer lifetime than $Ξ_{bc}^0$ and thus a better displacement resolution. The $Ξ_{bc}^+ \to Ξ_{cc}^{++}+X$ branching ratio is calculated within the heavy diquark effective theory. Combining the $Ξ_{bc}$ production rate and the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ detection efficiency, we anticipate that hundreds of signal events will be collected during LHCb Run 3.

Monojet search for heavy neutrinos at future $Z$-factories

The existence of heavy neutrinos is the most prominent feature of type-I seesaw-like mechanisms, which naturally explain tiny masses of observed neutrinos. Various experiments have been conducted to search for heavy neutrinos, with meson decays sensitive to heavy neutrinos lighter than $B$ mesons and high energy collider experiments sensitive to the ones with masses larger than $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ TeV. In between, there is a mass gap uncovered by these two kinds of experiments, and by this work, we investigate the 3-15 GeV neutrino searches at future $Z$-factories via the process $e^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow Z \rightarrow νN \rightarrow ν\ell\bar{q}q'$ with $\ell=e,μ$. Based on the simulation of signal and background events, we find that the signals appear as monojet events owning to the large Lorentz boost of the heavy neutrinos. Furthermore, the substructures of such monojet are essential to reconstruct the signal and suppress the background. The upper bounds on the cross section of the signal process and the mixing parameter ${| V_{\ell N}|}^2$ are obtained. Compared with other experiments, the monojet method at future $Z$-factories will be able to fill the gap around this mass range.

Second Stop and Sbottom Searches with a Stealth Stop

The top squarks (stops) may be the most wanted particles after the Higgs boson discovery. The searches for the lightest stop have put strong constraints on its mass. However, there is still a search gap in the low mass region if the spectrum of the stop and the lightest neutralino is compressed. In that case, it may be easier to look for the second stop since naturalness requires both stops to be close to the weak scale. The current experimental searches for the second stop are based on the simplified model approach with the decay modes $\tilde{t}_2 \to \tilde{t}_1 Z$ and $\tilde{t}_2 \to \tilde{t}_1 h$. However, in a realistic supersymmetric spectrum there is always a sbottom lighter than the second stop, hence the decay patterns are usually more complicated than the simplified model assumptions. In particular, there are often large branching ratios of the decays $\tilde{t}_2 \to \tilde{b}_1 W$ and $\tilde{b}_1 \to \tilde{t}_1 W$ as long as they are open. The decay chains can be even more complex if there are intermediate states of additional charginos and neutralinos in the decays. By studying several MSSM benchmark models at the 14 TeV LHC, we point out the importance of the multi-$W$ final states in the second stop and the sbottom searches, such as the same-sign dilepton and multilepton signals, aside from the traditional search modes. The observed same-sign dilepton excesses at LHC Run 1 and Run 2 may be explained by some of our benchmark models. We also suggest that the vector boson tagging and a new kinematic variable may help to suppress the backgrounds and increase the signal significance for some search channels. Due to the complex decay patterns and lack of the dominant decay channels, the best reaches likely require a combination of various search channels at the LHC for the second stop and the lightest sbottom.

Analysis of Two-body Charmed $B$ Meson Decays in Factorization-Assisted Topological-Amplitude Approach

Within the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach, we study the two-body charmed $B$ meson decays $B_{u,d,s} \to D^{(*)}M$, with $M$ denoting a light pseudoscalar (or vector) meson. The meson decay constants and transition form factors are factorized out from the hadronic matrix element of topological diagrams. Therefore the effect of SU(3) symmetry breaking is retained, which is different from the conventional topological diagram approach. The number of free nonperturbative parameters to be fitted from experimental data is also much less. Only four universal nonperturbative parameters $χ^C$, $ϕ^C$, $χ^E$ and $ϕ^E$ are introduced to describe the contribution of the color suppressed tree and $W$-exchanged diagrams for all the decay channels. With the fitted parameters from 31 decay modes induced by $b\to c$ transition, we then predict the branching fractions of 120 decay modes induced by both $b\to c$ and $b\to u$ transitions. Our results are well consistent with the measured data or to be tested in the LHCb and Belle-II experiments in the future. Besides, the SU(3) symmetry breaking, isospin violation and $CP$ asymmetry are also investigated.

Branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries in $D\to PV$ decays

We study the two-body hadronic $D\to PV$ decays, where $P$ ($V$) denotes a pseudoscalar (vector) meson, in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach proposed in our previous work. This approach is based on the factorization of short-distance and long-distance dynamics into Wilson coefficients and hadronic matrix elements of four-fermion operators, respectively, with the latter being parametrized in terms of several nonperturbative quantities. We further take into account the $ρ$-$ω$ mixing effect, which improves the global fit to the branching ratios involving the $ρ^0$ and $ω$ mesons. Combining short-distance dynamics associated with penguin operators and the hadronic parameters determined from the global fit to branching ratios, we predict direct $CP$ asymmetries. In particular, the direct $CP$ asymmetries in the $D^0\to K^0\overline{K}^{*0},~\overline{K}^0K^{*0}$, $D^+\toπ^+ρ^0$, and $D_s^+\to K^+ω,~K^+ϕ$ decays are found to be of ${\cal O}(10^{-3})$, which can be observed at the LHCb or future Belle II experiment. We also predict the $CP$ asymmetry observables of some neutral $D$ meson decays.

Perturbative QCD study of $B_s$ decays to a pseudoscalar meson and a tensor meson

We study two-body hadronic $B_s\to PT$ decays, with $P (T)$ being a light pseudoscalar (tensor) meson, in the perturbative QCD approach. The CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP asymmetries of the $ΔS=0$ modes are predicted, where $ΔS$ is the difference between the strange numbers of final and initial states. We also define and calculate experimental observables for the $ΔS=1$ modes under the $B_s^0-\bar{B}_s^0$ mixing, including CP averaged branching ratios, time-integrated CP asymmetries, and the CP observables $C_{f}$, $D_{f}$ and $S_{f}$. Results are compared to the $B_s\to PV$ ones in the literature, and to the $B\to PT$ ones, which indicate considerable U-spin symmetry breaking. Our work provides theoretical predictions for the $B_s\to PT$ decays for the first time, some of which will be potentially measurable at future experiments.
