Chaplygin Gas Hořava-Lifshitz Quantum Cosmology

In this paper, we study the Chaplygin gas Hořava-Lifshitz quantum cosmology. Using Schutz formalism and Arnowitt-Deser-Misner decomposition, we obtain the corresponding Schrödinger-Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We obtain exact classical and quantum mechanical solutions and construct wave packets to study the time evolution of the expectation value of the scale factor for two cases. We show that unlike classical solutions and upon choosing appropriate initial conditions, the expectation value of the scale factor never tends to the singular point which exhibits the singularity-free behavior of the solutions in the quantum domain.

Radiation of Charged Black Holes and Modified Dispersion Relation

We investigate the effects of a modified dispersion relation proposed by Majhi and Vagenas on the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole thermodynamics in a universe with large extra dimensions. It is shown that entropy, temperature and heat capacity receive new corrections and charged black holes in this framework have less degrees of freedom and decay faster compared to black holes in the Hawking picture. We also study the emission rate of black hole and compare our results with other quantum gravity approaches. In this regard, the existence of the logarithmic prefactor and the relation between dimensions and charge are discussed. This procedure is not only valid for a single horizon spacetime but it is also valid for the spacetimes with inner and outer horizons.

The minimal length and the Shannon entropic uncertainty relation

In the framework of the generalized uncertainty principle, the position and momentum operators obey the modified commutation relation $[X,P]=i\hbar\left(1+βP^2\right)$ where $β$ is the deformation parameter. Since the validity of the uncertainty relation for the Shannon entropies proposed by Beckner, Bialynicki-Birula, and Mycieslki (BBM) depends on both the algebra and the used representation, we show that using the formally self-adjoint representation, i.e., $X=x$ and $P=\tan\left(\sqrtβp\right)/\sqrtβ$ where $[x,p]=i\hbar$, the BBM inequality is still valid in the form $S_x+S_p\geq1+\lnπ$ as well as in ordinary quantum mechanics. We explicitly indicate this result for the harmonic oscillator in the presence of the minimal length.

Generalized uncertainty principle and the conformally coupled scalar field quantum cosmology

We exactly solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the closed homogeneous and isotropic quantum cosmology in the presence of a conformally coupled scalar field and in the context of the generalized uncertainty principle. This form of generalized uncertainty principle is motivated by the black hole physics and it predicts a minimal length uncertainty proportional to the Planck length. We construct wave packets in momentum minisuperspace which closely follow classical trajectories and strongly peak on them upon choosing appropriate initial conditions. Moreover, based on the DeWitt criterion, we obtain wave packets that exhibit singularity-free behavior.

The lower bound to the concurrence for four-qubit W state under noisy channels

We study the dynamics of four-qubit W state under various noisy environments by solving analytically the master equation in the Lindblad form in which the Lindblad operators correspond to the Pauli matrices and describe the decoherence of states. Also, we investigate the dynamics of the entanglement using the lower bound to the concurrence. It is found that while the entanglement decreases monotonically for Pauli-Z noise, it decays suddenly for other three noises. Moreover, by studying the time evolution of entanglement of various maximally entangled four-qubit states, we indicate that the four-qubit W state is more robust under same-axis Pauli channels. Furthermore, three-qubit W state preserves more entanglement with respect to the four-qubit W state, except for the Pauli-Z noise.

The minimal length uncertainty and the nonextensive thermodynamics

In this paper, we study the thermodynamics of quantum harmonic oscillator in the Tsallis framework and in the presence of a minimal length uncertainty. The existence of the minimal length is motivated by various theories such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, and black-hole physics. We analytically obtain the partition function, probability function, internal energy, and the specific heat capacity of the vibrational quantum system for $1<q<\frac{3}{2}$ and compare the results with those of Tsallis and Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics without the minimal length scale.

$λϕ^{4}$ Kink and sine-Gordon Soliton in the GUP Framework

We consider $λϕ^{4}$ kink and sine-Gordon soliton in the presence of a minimal length uncertainty proportional to the Planck length. The modified Hamiltonian contains an extra term proportional to $p^4$ and the generalized Schrödinger equation is expressed as a forth-order differential equation in quasiposition space. We obtain the modified energy spectrum for the discrete states and compare our results with 1-loop resummed and Hartree approximations for the quantum fluctuations. We finally find some lower bounds for the deformations parameter so that the effects of the minimal length have the dominant role.

Accurate energy spectrum for the quantum Yang-Mills mechanics with nonlinear color oscillations

Yang-Mills theory as the foundation for quantum chromodynamics is a non-Abelian gauge theory with self-interactions between vector particles. Here, we study the Yang-Mills Hamiltonian with nonlinear color oscillations in the absence of external sources corresponding to the group $SU(2)$. In the quantum domain, we diagonalize the Hamiltonian using the optimized trigonometric basis expansion method and find accurate energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for one and two degrees of freedom. We also compare our results with the semiclassical solutions.

Quantum correlation evolution of GHZ and W states under noisy channels using ameliorated measurement-induced disturbance

We study quantum correlation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) and W states under various noisy channels using measurement-induced disturbance approach and its optimized version. Although these inequivalent maximal entangled states represent the same quantum correlation in the absence of noise, it is shown that the W state is more robust than the GHZ state through most noisy channels. Also, using measurement-induced disturbance measure, we obtain the analytical relations for the time evolution of quantum correlations in terms of the noisy parameter $κ$ and remove its overestimating quantum correlations upon implementing the ameliorated measurement-induced disturbance.

Quantum Teleportation through Noisy Channels with Multi-Qubit GHZ States

We investigate two-party quantum teleportation through noisy channels for multi-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states and find which state loses less quantum information in the process. The dynamics of states is described by the master equation with the noisy channels that lead to the quantum channels to be mixed states. We analytically solve the Lindblad equation for $n$-qubit GHZ states $n\in\{4,5,6\}$ where Lindblad operators correspond to the Pauli matrices and describe the decoherence of states. Using the average fidelity we show that 3GHZ state is more robust than $n$GHZ state under most noisy channels. However, $n$GHZ state preserves same quantum information with respect to EPR and 3GHZ states where the noise is in $x$ direction in which the fidelity remains unchanged. We explicitly show that Jung ${\it et\, al.}$ conjecture [Phys. Rev. A ${\bf 78}$, 012312 (2008)], namely, "average fidelity with same-axis noisy channels are in general larger than average fidelity with different-axis noisy channels" is not valid for 3GHZ and 4GHZ states.

The Minimal Length and the Quantum Partition Functions

We study the thermodynamics of various physical systems in the framework of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle that implies a minimal length uncertainty proportional to the Planck length. We present a general scheme to analytically calculate the quantum partition function of the physical systems to first order of the deformation parameter based on the behavior of the modified energy spectrum and compare our results with the classical approach. Also, we find the modified internal energy and heat capacity of the systems for the anti-Snyder framework.

Exact Ultra Cold Neutrons' Energy Spectrum in Gravitational Quantum Mechanics

We find exact energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the quantum bouncer in the presence of the minimal length uncertainty and the maximal momentum. This form of Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP) agrees with various theories of quantum gravity and predicts a minimal length uncertainty proportional to $\hbar\sqrtβ$ and a maximal momentum proportional to $1/\sqrtβ$, where $β$ is the deformation parameter. We also find the semiclassical energy spectrum and discuss the effects of this GUP on the transition rate of the ultra cold neutrons in gravitational spectrometers. Then, based on the Nesvizhevsky's famous experiment, we obtain an upper bound on the dimensionless GUP parameter.

On the boundary conditions in deformed quantum mechanics with minimal length uncertainty

We find the coordinate space wave functions, maximal localization states, and quasiposition wave functions in a GUP framework that implies a minimal length uncertainty using a formally self-adjoint representation. We show that how the boundary conditions in quasiposition space can be exactly determined from the boundary conditions in coordinate space.

One-dimensional hydrogen atom with minimal length uncertainty and maximal momentum

We present exact energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the one-dimensional hydrogen atom in the framework of the Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP). This form of GUP is consistent with various theories of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, black-hole physics, and doubly special relativity and implies a minimal length uncertainty and a maximal momentum. We show that the quantized energy spectrum exactly agrees with the semiclassical results.

A Higher Order GUP with Minimal Length Uncertainty and Maximal Momentum

We present a higher order generalized (gravitational) uncertainty principle (GUP) in the form $[X,P]=i\hbar/(1-βP^2)$. This form of GUP is consistent with various proposals of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, doubly special relativity, and predicts both a minimal length uncertainty and a maximal observable momentum. We show that the presence of the maximal momentum results in an upper bound on the energy spectrum of the momentum eigenstates and the harmonic oscillator.

A Higher Order GUP with Minimal Length Uncertainty and Maximal Momentum II: Applications

In a recent paper, we presented a nonperturbative higher order generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) that is consistent with various proposals of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, doubly special relativity, and predicts both a minimal length uncertainty and a maximal observable momentum. In this Letter, we find exact maximally localized states and present a formally self-adjoint and naturally perturbative representation of this modified algebra. Then we extend this GUP to D dimensions that will be shown it is noncommutative and find invariant density of states. We show that the presence of the maximal momentum results in upper bounds on the energy spectrum of the free particle and the particle in box. Moreover, this form of GUP modifies blackbody radiation spectrum at high frequencies and predicts a finite cosmological constant. Although it does not solve the cosmological constant problem, it gives a better estimation with respect to the presence of just the minimal length.

A note on the one-dimensional hydrogen atom with minimal length uncertainty

We present exact energy spectrum and eigenfunctions of the one-dimensional hydrogen atom in the presence of the minimal length uncertainty. By requiring the self-adjointness property of the Hamiltonian, we completely determine the quantization condition. We indicate that the single-valuedness criteria of the eigenfunctions in non-deformed case is an emergent condition and the semiclassical solutions exactly coincide with the quantum mechanical results. The behavior of the wave functions at the origin in coordinate space and in quasiposition space is discussed finally.

Anharmonic oscillator and the optimized basis expansion

We introduce various optimization schemes for highly accurate calculation of the eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions of the one-dimensional anharmonic oscillators. We present several methods of analytically fixing the nonlinear variational parameter specified by the domain of the trigonometric basis functions. We show that the optimized parameter enables us to determine the energy spectrum to an arbitrary accuracy. Also, using the harmonic oscillator basis functions, we indicate that the resulting optimal frequency agrees with the one obtained by the principle of the minimal sensitivity.

Coherent States in Gravitational Quantum Mechanics

We present the coherent states of the harmonic oscillator in the framework of the generalized (gravitational) uncertainty principle (GUP). This form of GUP is consistent with various theories of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, and black-hole physics and implies a minimal measurable length. Using a recently proposed formally self-adjoint representation, we find the GUP-corrected Hamiltonian as a generator of the generalized Heisenberg algebra. Then following Klauder's approach, we construct exact coherent states and obtain the corresponding normalization coefficients, weight functions, and probability distributions. We find the entropy of the system and show that it decreases in the presence of the minimal length. These results could shed light on possible detectable Planck-scale effects within recent experimental tests.

Minimal Length and the Quantum Bouncer: A Nonperturbative Study

We present the energy eigenvalues of a quantum bouncer in the framework of the Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP) via quantum mechanical and semiclassical schemes. In this paper, we use two equivalent nonperturbative representations of a deformed commutation relation in the form [X,P]=i\hbar(1+βP^2) where βis the GUP parameter. The new representation is formally self-adjoint and preserves the ordinary nature of the position operator. We show that both representations result in the same modified semiclassical energy spectrum and agrees well with the quantum mechanical description.

New Approach to Nonperturbative Quantum Mechanics with Minimal Length Uncertainty

The existence of a minimal measurable length is a common feature of various approaches to quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity and black-hole physics. In this scenario, all commutation relations are modified and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is changed to the so-called Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Here, we present a one-dimensional nonperturbative approach to quantum mechanics with minimal length uncertainty relation which implies X=x to all orders and P=p+(1/3)βp^3 to first order of GUP parameter β, where X and P are the generalized position and momentum operators and [x,p]=i\hbar. We show that this formalism is an equivalent representation of the seminal proposal by Kempf, Mangano, and Mann and predicts the same physics. However, this proposal reveals many significant aspects of the generalized uncertainty principle in a simple and comprehensive form and the existence of a maximal canonical momentum is manifest through this representation. The problems of the free particle and the harmonic oscillator are exactly solved in this GUP framework and the effects of GUP on the thermodynamics of these systems are also presented. Although X, P, and the Hamiltonian of the harmonic oscillator all are formally self-adjoint, the careful study of the domains of these operators shows that only the momentum operator remains self-adjoint in the presence of the minimal length uncertainty. We finally discuss the difficulties with the definition of potentials with infinitely sharp boundaries.

The minimal length uncertainty and the quantum model for the stock market

We generalize the recently proposed quantum model for the stock market by Zhang and Huang to make it consistent with the discrete nature of the stock price. In this formalism, the price of the stock and its trend satisfy the generalized uncertainty relation and the corresponding generalized Hamiltonian contains an additional term proportional to the fourth power of the trend. We study a driven infinite quantum well where information as the external field periodically fluctuates and show that the presence of the minimal trading value of stocks results in a positive shift in the characteristic frequencies of the quantum system. The connection between the information frequency and the transition probabilities is discussed finally.

A class of GUP solutions in deformed quantum mechanics

Various candidates of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity and black hole physics all predict the existence of a minimum observable length which modifies the Heisenberg uncertainty principle to so-called Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). This approach results in the modification of the commutation relations and changes all Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics. In this paper, we present a class of physically acceptable solutions for a general commutation relation without directly solving the corresponding generalized Schrodinger equations. These solutions satisfy the boundary conditions and exhibit the effect of the deformed algebra on the energy spectrum. We show that, this procedure prevents us from doing equivalent but lengthy calculations.

Minimal length, maximal momentum and the entropic force law

Different candidates of quantum gravity proposal such as string theory, noncommutative geometry, loop quantum gravity and doubly special relativity, all predict the existence of a minimum observable length and/or a maximal momentum which modify the standard Heisenberg uncertainty principle. In this paper, we study the effects of minimal length and maximal momentum on the entropic force law formulated recently by E. Verlinde.

The effects of minimal length and maximal momentum on the transition rate of ultra cold neutrons in gravitational field

The existence of a minimum observable length and/or a maximum observable momentum is in agreement with various candidates of quantum gravity such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, doubly special relativity and black hole physics. In this scenario, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is changed to the so-called Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP) which results in modification of all Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics. In this paper, following a recently proposed GUP which is consistent with quantum gravity theories, we study the quantum mechanical systems in the presence of both a minimum length and a maximum momentum. The generalized Hamiltonian contains two additional terms which are proportional to $αp^3$ and $α^2 p^4$ where $α\sim 1/M_{Pl}c$ is the GUP parameter. For the case of a quantum bouncer, we solve the generalized Schrodinger equation in the momentum space and find the modified energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions up to the second-order in GUP parameter. The effects of the GUP on the transition rate of ultra cold neutrons in gravitational spectrometers are discussed finally.

Exact solutions of a particle in a box with a delta function potential: The factorization method

We use the factorization method to find the exact eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for a particle in a box with the delta function potential $V(x)=λδ(x-x_{0})$. We show that the presence of the potential results in the discontinuity of the corresponding ladder operators. The presence of the delta function potential allows us to obtain the full spectrum in the first step of the factorization procedure even in the weak coupling limit $λ\to 0$.

How to prepare quantum states that follow classical paths

We present an alternative quantization procedure for the one-dimensional non-relativistic quantum mechanics. We show that, for the case of a free particle and a particle in a box, the complete classical and quantum correspondence can be obtained using this formulation. The resulting wave packets do not disperse and strongly peak on the classical paths. Moreover, for the case of the free particle, they satisfy minimum uncertainty relation.

Minimal Length and Bouncing Particle Spectrum

In this paper we study the effects of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) on the spectrum of a particle that is bouncing vertically and elastically on a smooth reflecting floor in the Earth's gravitational field (a quantum bouncer). We calculate energy levels and corresponding wave functions of this system in terms of the GUP parameter. We compare the outcomes of our study with the results obtained from elementary quantum mechanics. A potential application of the present study is discussed finally.

On the modification of Hamiltonians' spectrum in gravitational quantum mechanics

Different candidates of Quantum Gravity such as String Theory, Doubly Special Relativity, Loop Quantum Gravity and black hole physics all predict the existence of a minimum observable length or a maximum observable momentum which modifies the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. This modified version is usually called the Generalized (Gravitational) Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and changes all Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics. In this Letter, we use a recently proposed GUP which is consistent with String Theory, Doubly Special Relativity and black hole physics and predicts both a minimum measurable length and a maximum measurable momentum. This form of GUP results in two additional terms in any quantum mechanical Hamiltonian, proportional to $αp^3$ and $α^2 p^4$, respectively, where $α\sim 1/M_{Pl}c$ is the GUP parameter. By considering both terms as perturbations, we study two quantum mechanical systems in the framework of the proposed GUP: a particle in a box and a simple harmonic oscillator. We demonstrate that, for the general polynomial potentials, the corrections to the highly excited eigenenergies are proportional to their square values. We show that this result is exact for the case of a particle in a box.

An approach to construct wave packets with complete classical-quantum correspondence in non-relativistic quantum mechanics

We introduce a method to construct wave packets with complete classical and quantum correspondence in one-dimensional non-relativistic quantum mechanics. First, we consider two similar oscillators with equal total energy. In classical domain, we can easily solve this model and obtain the trajectories in the space of variables. This picture in the quantum level is equivalent with a hyperbolic partial differential equation which gives us a freedom for choosing the initial wave function and its initial slope. By taking advantage of this freedom, we propose a method to choose an appropriate initial condition which is independent from the form of the oscillators. We then construct the wave packets for some cases and show that these wave packets closely follow the whole classical trajectories and peak on them. Moreover, we use de-Broglie Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics to quantify this correspondence and show that the resulting Bohmian trajectories are also in a complete agreement with their classical counterparts.

preprint2008arXiv

On the conformally coupled scalar field quantum cosmology

We propose a new initial condition for the homogeneous and isotropic quantum cosmology, where the source of the gravitational field is a conformally coupled scalar field, and the maximally symmetric hypersurfaces have positive curvature. After solving corresponding Wheeler-DeWitt equation, we obtain exact solutions in both classical and quantum levels. We propose appropriate initial condition for the wave packets which results in a complete classical and quantum correspondence. These wave packets closely follow the classical trajectories and peak on them. We also quantify this correspondence using de-Broglie Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics. Using this proposal, the quantum potential vanishes along the Bohmian paths and the classical and Bohmian trajectories coincide with each other. We show that the model contains singularities even at the quantum level. Therefore, the resulting wave packets closely follow the classical trajectories from big-bang to big-crunch.

Quantum Stephani Universe in vicinity of the symmetry center

We study a class of spherically symmetric Stephani cosmological models in the presence of a self-interacting scalar field in both classical and quantum domains. We discuss the construction of `canonical' wave packets resulting from the solutions of a class of Wheeler-DeWitt equations in the Stephani Universe. We suggest appropriate initial conditions which result in wave packets containing some desirable properties, most importantly good classical and quantum correspondence. We also study the situation from de-Broglie Bohm interpretation of quantum mechanics to recover the notion of time and compare the classical and Bohmian results. We exhibit that the usage of the canonical prescription and appropriate choices of expansion coefficients result in the suppression of the quantum potential and coincidence between classical and Bohmian results. We show that, in some cases, contrary to Friedmann-Robertson-Walker case, the bound state solutions also exist for all positive values of the cosmological constant.
