Random matrix theory of quantum transport in chaotic cavities with non-ideal leads

We determine the joint probability density function (JPDF) of reflection eigenvalues in three Dyson's ensembles of normal-conducting chaotic cavities coupled to the outside world through both ballistic and tunnel point contacts. Expressing the JPDF in terms of hypergeometric functions of matrix arguments (labeled by the Dyson index $β$), we further show that reflection eigenvalues form a determinantal ensemble at $β=2$ and a new type of a Pfaffian ensemble at $β=4$. As an application, we derive a simple analytic expression for the concurrence distribution describing production of orbitally entangled electrons in chaotic cavities with tunnel point contacts when time reversal symmetry is preserved.

Thermal transport through non-ideal Andreev quantum dots

We consider the scenario of thermal transport through two types of Andreev quantum dots which are coupled to two leads, belonging to the Class D and Class C symmetry classes. Using the random matrix description we derive the joint probability density function (j.p.d.f.) in term of Hypergeometric Function of Matrix Arguments when we consider one lead to be attached ideally and one lead non ideally. For the class C ensemble we derive a more explicit representation of the j.p.d.f. which results in a new type of random matrix model.

Integrability of zero-dimensional replica field theories at beta=1

Building on insights from the theory of integrable lattices, the integrability is claimed for nonlinear replica sigma models derived in the context of real symmetric random matrices. Specifically, the fermionic and the bosonic replica partition functions are proven to form a single (supersymmetric) Pfaff-KP hierarchy whose replica limit is shown to reproduce the celebrated nonperturbative formula for the density-density eigenvalue correlation function in the infinite-dimensional Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble. Implications of the formalism outlined are briefly discussed.

Statistics of reflection eigenvalues in chaotic cavities with non-ideal leads

The scattering matrix approach is employed to determine a joint probability density function of reflection eigenvalues for chaotic cavities coupled to the outside world through both ballistic and tunnel point contacts. Derived under assumption of broken time-reversal symmetry, this result is further utilised to (i) calculate the density and correlation functions of reflection eigenvalues, and (ii) analyse fluctuations properties of the Landauer conductance for the illustrative example of asymmetric chaotic cavity. Further extensions of the theory are pinpointed.

Relaxation of a Simple Quantum Random Matrix Model

We will derive here the relaxation behavior of a simple quantum random matrix model. The aim is to derive the effective equations which rise when a random matrix interaction is taken in the weak coupling limit. The physical situation this model represents is that a quantum particle restricted to move on two sites, where every site has N possible energy states. The hopping from one site to another is then modeled by a random matrix. The techniques used here can be applied to many variations of the model.

Statistical Relaxation in Closed Quantum Systems and the Van Hove-Limit

We analyze the dynamics of occupation probabilities for a certain type of design models by the use of two different methods. On the one hand we present some numerical calculations for two concrete interactions which point out that the occurrence of statistical dynamics depends on the interaction structure. Furthermore we show an analytical derivation for an infinite system that yields statistical behaviour for the average over the whole ensemble of interactions in the Van Hove-limit.
