A categorical approach to dynamical quantum groups

We present a categorical point of view on dynamical quantum groups in terms of categories of Harish-Chandra bimodules. We prove Tannaka duality theorems for forgetful functors into the monoidal category of Harish-Chandra bimodules in terms of a slight modification of the notion of a bialgebroid. Moreover, we show that the standard dynamical quantum groups $F(G)$ and $F_q(G)$ are related to parabolic restriction functors for classical and quantum Harish-Chandra bimodules. Finally, we exhibit a natural Weyl symmetry of the parabolic restriction functor using Zhelobenko operators and show that it gives rise to the action of the dynamical Weyl group.

A Taxonomy of Twists of Supersymmetric Yang--Mills Theory

We give a complete classification of twists of supersymmetric Yang--Mills theories in dimensions $2\leq n \leq 10$. We formulate supersymmetric Yang--Mills theory classically using the BV formalism, and then we construct an action of the supersymmetry algebra using the language of $L_\infty$ algebras. For each orbit in the space of square-zero supercharges in the supersymmetry algebra, under the action of the spin group and the group of R-symmetries, we give a description of the corresponding twisted theory. These twists can be described in terms of mixed holomorphic-topological versions of Chern--Simons and BF theory.

The categorified Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem

In this paper we prove a categorification of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem. Our result implies in particular a Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem for Toën and Vezzosi's secondary Chern character. As a main application, we establish a comparison between the Toën-Vezzosi Chern character and the classical Chern character, and show that the categorified Chern character recovers the classical de Rham realization.

The quantum Frobenius for character varieties and multiplicative quiver varieties

We prove that quantized multiplicative quiver varieties and quantum character varieties define sheaves of Azumaya algebras over the corresponding classical moduli spaces, and we prove that the Azumaya locus of the Kauffman bracket skein algebras contains the smooth locus, proving a strong form of the Unicity Conjecture of Bonahon and Wong. The proofs exploit a strong compatibility between quantum Hamiltonian reduction and the quantum Frobenius homomorphism as it arises in each setting. We therefore introduce the concepts of Frobenius quantum moment maps and their Hamiltonian reduction, and of Frobenius Poisson orders. We use these tools to construct canonical central subalgebras of quantum algebras, and explicitly compute the resulting Azumaya loci we encounter, using a natural nondegeneracy assumption.

Topological twists of supersymmetric algebras of observables

We explain how to perform topological twisting of supersymmetric field theories in the language of factorization algebras. Namely, given a supersymmetric factorization algebra with a choice of a topological supercharge we construct an algebra over the operad of little disks. We also explain the role of the twisting homomorphism allowing us to construct an algebra over the operad of framed little disks. Finally, we give a complete classification of topological supercharges and twisting homomorphisms in dimensions $1$ through $10$.

A Lagrangian Neighbourhood Theorem for shifted symplectic derived schemes

Pantev, Toen, Vaquié and Vezzosi arXiv:1111.3209 defined $k$-shifted symplectic derived schemes and stacks ${\bf X}$ for $k\in\mathbb Z$, and Lagrangians ${\bf f}:{\bf L}\to{\bf X}$ in them. They have important applications to Calabi-Yau geometry and quantization. Bussi, Brav and Joyce arXiv:1305.6302 proved a 'Darboux Theorem' giving explicit Zariski or étale local models for $k$-shifted symplectic derived schemes ${\bf X}$ for $k<0$ presenting them as twisted shifted cotangent bundles. We prove a 'Lagrangian Neighbourhood Theorem' giving explicit Zariski or etale local models for Lagrangians ${\bf f}:{\bf L}\to{\bf X}$ in $k$-shifted symplectic derived schemes ${\bf X}$ for $k<0$, relative to the Bussi-Brav-Joyce 'Darboux form' local models for ${\bf X}$. That is, locally such Lagrangians can be presented as twisted shifted conormal bundles. We also give a partial result when $k=0$. We expect our results will have future applications to $k$-shifted Poisson geometry (see arXiv:1506.03699), to defining 'Fukaya categories' of complex or algebraic symplectic manifolds, and to categorifying Donaldson-Thomas theory of Calabi-Yau 3-folds and 'Cohomological Hall algebras'.

Shifted symplectic Lie algebroids

Shifted symplectic Lie and $L_\infty$ algebroids model formal neighbourhoods of manifolds in shifted symplectic stacks, and serve as target spaces for twisted variants of classical AKSZ topological field theory. In this paper, we classify zero-, one- and two-shifted symplectic algebroids and their higher gauge symmetries, in terms of classical geometric "higher structures", such as Courant algebroids twisted by $Ω^2$-gerbes. As applications, we produce new examples of twisted Courant algebroids from codimension-two cycles, and we give symplectic interpretations for several well known features of higher structures (such as twists, Pontryagin classes, and tensor products). The proofs are valid in the $C^\infty$, holomorphic and algebraic settings, and are based on a number of technical results on the homotopy theory of $L_\infty$ algebroids and their differential forms, which may be of independent interest.

Gerbal central extensions of reductive groups by $K_3$

We classify central extensions of a reductive group $G$ by $\mathcal{K}_3$ and $B\mathcal{K}_3$, the sheaf of third Quillen $K$-theory groups and its classifying stack. These turn out to be parametrized by the group of Weyl-invariant quadratic forms on the cocharacter lattice valued in $k^\times$ and the group of integral Weyl-invariant cubic forms on the cocharacter lattice respectively.

Quasi-Hamiltonian reduction via classical Chern-Simons theory

This paper puts the theory of quasi-Hamiltonian reduction in the framework of shifted symplectic structures developed by Pantev, Toën, Vaquié and Vezzosi. We compute the symplectic structures on mapping stacks and show how the AKSZ topological field theory defined by Calaque allows one to neatly package the constructions used in quasi-Hamiltonian reduction. Finally, we explain how a prequantization of character stacks can be obtained purely locally.

Virasoro constraints in Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchies

We describe a geometric theory of Virasoro constraints in generalized Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchies. Solutions of Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchies are succinctly described by giving a principal bundle on a complex curve together with the data of a Higgs field near infinity. String solutions for these hierarchies are defined as points having a big stabilizer under a certain Lie algebra action. We characterize principal bundles coming from string solutions as those possessing connections compatible with the Higgs field near infinity. We show that tau-functions of string solutions satisfy second-order differential equations generalizing the Virasoro constraints of 2d quantum gravity.
